Came here back in November having had enough of suffering with my back injury for 13 years. I was crawling on all fours just to get to the bathroom and could barely move and I had enough of feeling helpless. I am certain this place is rated so highly because they are absolutely miracle workers! I got assigned to Bryan (DPT) who I saw twice a week for 6 weeks and he always had the answers, and knew just want to do each time I had digressed in progress. I'm about a month out from my last appointment and I've been able to manage any pain using the tools Bryan gave me. And thanks to Bryan, I was able to finally accomplish a hike I failed (twice) to complete because of my back pain. Garrett Jay is the only reason I went to In Motion O.C. Physical Therapy for rehabilitation. He was my PT throughout the entire ordeal of my rehab journey due to a bad car accident causing me 2 hip surgeries. He is absolutely AMAZING at what he does! Not only did Garrett listen to my doctor's protocols, but he also listened to me and what I wanted to achieve. Garrett is extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, caring, thorough, thoughtful, and eager to help rectify the injuries and get me back to 100%. Garrett is very friend, easy going, and makes you feel so welcomed. Garrett always explains the "why" we need to do something, not just assigns exercises and leaves you be. He thoroughly examines you and makes sure you are completing the exercises correctly, and he diligently works with you to ensure all your needs are met at each visit. I could not have asked for a better PT to help with my journey. I STRONGLY recommend seeing Garrett for any PT rehab anyone needs as he will definitely work hard to help you reach your goals and feel 100% again! Alex, Garrett's aid, is just as dedicated as Garrett. They make an exceptional team, and both work so hard to help patients reach their goals. Alex, just like Garrett, makes sure you are completing the exercises correctly and diligently works with you to help you reach your goals. I believe Alex will make a great PT in the near future. The staff at In Motion O.C. are great, for the most part. The front office staff members are very sweet and always greet you with a smile, and by your first name. However, Jennifer in the insurance department, is a complete waste of space. She is incompetent, non-communicative, "too busy" to address issues, doesn't return phone calls and if you do get to speak to her, she will give you attitude and act as if you are completely disrupting her by asking her insurance questions. When you do get to speak to Jennifer, her tone on the phone is annoyed, short and curt. She doesn't explain processes and procedures well and I had to follow-up multiple times about copays, reimbursements, and insurance visits. She almost cost me an additional $700 out of pocket due to her lack of communication with me, and by not checking my insurance benefits for the new year. This is why I give an overall 3 stars, because of Jennifer. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars. If it wasn't for Garret, and Alex, I would have immediately quit going to In Motion and switched PT locations. Those two are the only reason I stayed and made the progress I did. Hi, My original vestibular physical therapist, Soleil S. is as determined, solid, and kind as could be! A real Pro!! Soleil's assistant Michelle is a total doll and super effective as an assistant. She's on-it and would do the exercises or therapy along side you if thats what it took to get you moving. They've both moved on now so I see Madison M. Madison is super great in progressing the therapy needs as I get further from the surgery date. She's shown me some new different techniques for my weird brain situation, and also coached me into using a few different therapists, including Kevin G. Kevin is uper knowledgeable and he brings great next level challenges for my situation. Maddie M., Kevin G. Along with their assistants - Billy, Brian Andy Elizabeth (hi "E" !!) have made recovering from brain surgery a little bit better. The reason I write any of this is because of the front desk crew - Leslie and Kat and also the newer gal Alex . These awesome ladies really helped me with my crazy schedule over the last year plus. Always accommodating, never complained about a thing. They smile and greet me every time I come in the door, and...... They actually answer the telephone!!!!!!!! That is how to run a business. I'm not totally sure about the management, ya dont see um around much, but, they won't let me use the weight training area for just 5 minutes on my way out of my hour session, 3 times a week. I guess if everyone did that it'd be a zoo. Problem was they made my therapist tell me no more useing a 20lb wieght in that other Area.... when they should have told me themselves. I had to leave a review for Edgar after our first training session today! I just moved to the OC from LA and was looking for the right place to continue rehabbing my back which has taken forever to recover. The PT side of the facility is great. The PT's are personable and knowledgeable and will get you started with rehab exercises but I needed something a little more intense coming from an athletic background. The moment I met Edgar on Zoom for a consult I knew he was my guy. I immediately signed up for 8 sessions and had my first session this morning. I can finally say I felt like I was back to myself again. It's been a really weird tough journey for someone like me who is always active and never recovered through an injury, most of it is mental. When I say Edgar immediately gave me the confidence and push I needed to get back into training I'm not lying. He knows proper body mechanics and alignment technical and our first 15 mins were spent making sure I was using proper form for hinging and figuring out my weak points. After that it was an hour of blissful sweat and feeling like a bad ass again. By the end of the session I was pulling and pushing a 100 lb sled WITHOUT PAIN! All this to say with the right people in your corner recovery can be a fun experience that makes you grow. I was referred to In Motion OC by my podiatrist after learning that I have a bone spur in my heel. From the initial intake on the phone, I was super impressed by the high level of care. Garrett helped me with a shoulder injury I got from rock climbing. Over the course of 9 months I went from having daily shoulder pain to back to 100%. In the beginning even the simplest tasks like putting on a jacket or opening the trunk of a car would cause severe pain. There was also almost no range of motion. It took time but eventually Garrett was able to get me back into climbing. Towards the end we focused on strengthening the shoulder to endure high intensity climbing movements. Garrett developed creative exercises that would target specific body positions and shoulder movements. Thanks to his help I've gotten back to climbing at the level before I got the shoulder injury. I don't usually write negative reviews, but I have to share my negative experience with this place. I've had positive experiences with the PT and massage therapist there, can't say the same for the customer service. I called to book an 80 minute massage, and before I finalized the booking I made sure to confirm with the person I spoke to on the phone the cost for the massage. They have a reduced "member rate" and a regular hourly rate for "non-members". I asked the person on the phone to confirm that I was still considered a member (since I did PT there) and that I would be paying the member rate. She confirmed that I was a member and I would be paying the member rate. Fast forward to after getting the massage, I was charged the regular rate (which is 20% more than members rate I was told I would be charged on the phone). I called to ask why I was charged the full rate when I was told I would be charged the member's rate. A gentleman called back (I believe his name was Steve?) and said I was no longer considered a "member". I explained my prior conversation with the person on the phone, and asked to speak to the manager. He said that it was not possible to speak to the manager at that time and he would communicate to the person in charge and get back to me. I called back after a couple days because I never heard back, and was told by the same gentlemen that I was in fact charged the "correct" amount, per his conversation with the person in charge. I asked the gentlemen to please give my contact information to the manager, and requested a call back so I could speak to the manager and get some clarification. He said okay. At this point, I didn't even care about the money, I just wanted to talk to the manager so that this kind of thing wouldn't happen again in the future. Never heard back from them. I just dropped it, because it's not worth the effort. I am just super dissatisfied with how the situation was handled. I went to InMotion several times for physical therapy sessions and massages, and my fiancée was also a client, but we will no longer be returning and will be looking for a different facility. read more

In Motion is an amazing place for physical therapy. A month after breaking my hand...my orthopedist said it was time for physical therapy. I sooooo didn't want to do it. My orthopedist literally had to tell me two more times at different appointments before I finally gave in and called In Motion. Brian L. was my physical therapist. Super knowledgeable, funny and great to be around. He worked on my hand twice a week for a 1.5 months. He's amazing....my range of motion is almost fully back. Fast considering I broke my hand in three different places. Now that I'm done...I'm kinda sad. The people at In Motion really made the physical therapy process enjoyable for me. I am writing this review for both parts of In Motion OC -- their PT team and their training team. I've used them for different reasons, and they both have their own approach. I highly recommend both of them should you need one of both services. They were great. Physical Therapy: I found IMOC because I had a shoulder impingement and needed PT. I scoured the yelp reviews for a clinic that worked with athletes to focus on returning to competing rather than just comfort. Working with Ross and his assistant, John, has been a great experience. Ross is hands-on and pushes me to get stronger. He also does an assessment each session to see what needs to change. The result: I feel stronger and more pain-free every day. The support staff, the insurance specialist, and the front desk are very well organized and friendly. It's been a great experience. Training: IMOC also has a training studio attached. I have been looking for specific help increasing my posterior chain. After a herniated disc many years ago, I was afraid to do many compound lifts for my back -- deadlifts, squats, bent rows. I could squat, but I was nervous about form and being able to move up in weight and build my strength. I bought a package of sessions with Edgar to address these specific issues; it has been excellent. Edgar and I have been working on deadlifts and hinging, strengthening all the muscles that go into the ability to pick things up and have a string back. It's been nothing short of amazing. I feel confident, controlled, and connected with the movements. I have steadily been increasing weight and strength without pain (woot!), and in a controlled way. I am excited to work on the next puzzle piece with Edgar. He's fantastic! read more

Love my PT Lily! I was previously hurt by chiropractor, but Lily is always gentle on me and always can spot on the issue. She didn't over book appointment for me which I really appreciated, by the last time I visited her , my daily pain is 95% gone. She gave me good exercises to build on my muscles and that release my pain. My issue was mostly from weak muscles/ muscle balance, I can now keep building on my muscle and manage my pain at home. read more

I am so so so happy I found In Motion! I'm currently working through some adductor/groin and foot pain with Katie, who just really gets it! I have started looking forward to my sessions with Katie and the PT aides (shoutout to Grace and Jackie) who have just been so wonderful to work with! I've had one other PT experience before and In Motion really just takes it to a whole other level. I feel listened to, cared for, and empowered to get better. I never write reviews, you can check my profile. I had a lower vertebrae without a disc and multiple disc issues in the upper neck from years of football. I've done many trials with PT and none seemed to alleviate my pain. After looking online I decided to give this place a try. I signed up with Katie Boss for my treatment. The first appointment they essentially do an audit on the problem and what may be contributing to the pain. I learned my one leg was a little longer than the other and that my range of motion was reduced, all causing different postures and daily activities that made my situation worse. Each session is gos through mobilization exercises and one on one treatment with your trainer. Katie realized my lower back disc issue was in part that the vertebrae was not able to move the way it is supposed to. I didn't think it was possible to bend over and not feel pain. It had been so long, I forgot what it felt like. At home, I practiced the forced movements to get the vertebrae moving again which opened the area up tremendously. It's an incredible relief to see improvement in such a short period of time. Katie rocks! She also has a running program to help if you are feeling pain while training. My wife did it with Katie and she helped improve her cadence and calf pain. Great staff and extremely friendly/safe during Covid. I also have to give a shoutout to Matt Rossman who worked with me a few sessions as well. He was completely up to speed on my issues and treatment. I have been having signifant feet pain to the point that walking or standing long periods was too painful to do. My doctor recommned physical therapy and was referred to In Motion O.C. I was assigned a PT, Dr. Amanda Maffris. After an initial evaluation she put me on a program to work on my feet and legs, with a lot of different stretching exercises, as well as some deep massage therapy on my legs and calfs. After about 3 months my overall pain level has reduced significantly and I am able to walk for a much longer distance. I have been very impressed with the how friendly and organized the staff is and I can't thank Amanda enough for helping me. I have since gone back to In Motion OC for lower back soreness, and Amanda is also helping me strengthen my core to help with the back pain. She has recently moved to the Huntington Beach location which is also closer to my home. I would recommend In Motion OC for anyone considering physical therapy. read more

This is my second time working with Dr. Garrett Jay and each time has always been the best experience. I originally came in for neck and back issues in 2022, but this year I broke my ankle and thanks to Garrett I had the smoothest possible recovery I could imagine. Within 3 months of my surgery, I was back to running and playing sports and I know that Garrett was a huge reason for that. While I hope not to get injured again, I know that should I need additional help in the future, I can expect the best and most knowledgeable treatment as well as a fun time going through my exercises with his aides. I started going to In Motion in August 2019 for some imbalances and high hamstring tendinitis issues. I worked with Katie & shortly after also began working with Edgar over on the fitness side to improve foundational strength for running performance. I PR'd in the amount of weight I can pick up, carry, and push. I've also PR'd in every running distance I've raced since coming to In Motion, from the 5k to the marathon. I've now been working with Edgar for almost 2 years. He's developed a different level of strength in me and his expertise is unmatched. He also trained me all the way through my pregnancy!
