In the immortal words of Eminem "Guess who's back"!!! I wrote a review previously (see below on February 25, 2014) as to the Physical Therapy "PT" portion of In Motion O.C. THIS review is for the "fitness" section of In Motion O.C. I did NOT want to do an "updated" yelp review as things get lost in the shuffle, and after all, they really are two separate entities of the business. Obviously I'm passionate enough about this whole thing that I literally opened TWO Yelp accounts in order to provide legitimate reviews for BOTH aspects of In Motion O.C.! I imagine that all of you are holding your breath and anxiously awaiting yet another awesome review, so with no further ado, here we go! First, if you are too lazy to read my previous review regarding the PT aspect of In Motion O.C., here is a brief synopsis: Great people at the front desk, phenomenal PT (Rachel), and awesome PT trainees/helpers throughout! I have been going to the PT portion of In Motion O.C. for almost three months now for a bulging disc issue, and it has done WONDERS. No more hating life for me (well, at least not because of my back)! With that being said, I started to get a little antsy with my recovery and I wanted to progress into getting back to normal athletic activities (such as pretending to be young again and playing basketball as well as acting like I know how to play golf as I yell "fore" at the group in front of me). As such, I discussed with my physical therapist at In Motion O.C. about the next step in my road to recovery. She recommended I undergo a fitness evaluation with Marcy and Jimmy over in the fitness section. Even though I was hesitant given my interaction with that Marcy girl, I went ahead and agreed to the evaluation (I kid, I kid...Marcy is the bomb). Today, I underwent my evaluation with Jimmy. What a great guy to deal with. He sat me down and explained to me how the program worked. He listened to what I had to say and he was knowledgeable about my prior PT work I had been doing. We then went through some exercises specific to my personal needs and issues. Throughout the entire time, Jimmy explained to me how I should do each stretch, lift, or exercise, as well as how it would benefit ME and for MY needs. It was not just some "canned" program. I instantly felt at ease with Jimmy and the whole process flew by (even if I am out of shape and was breathing hard and sweating out my past weekend's transgressions). I will be undergoing a "full" fitness workout later this week with the one and only Marcy. I can only imagine that I will benefit immensely in the long run if I stick with the fitness aspect of In Motion O.C. Looking over the costs and packages available. they are more than reasonable in comparison to other such programs or "personal trainers." Plus, they work hand in hand with the physical therapy aspect of the business, which gives them a leg up on any other similar type of facility. As such, I highly recommend that you give In Motion O.C. a chance if you are making a transition from rehabilitation, or if you simply want to get back into shape and work on making a better YOU. I know I will be and hopefully I will be back out on both the court and the course, making a fool of myself all over again very soon! read more

Do you know what I think is so amazing about physical therapy? Physical therapy may be the only place you are ever treated as a whole. In a medical setting, every part of your body is assigned to a different doctor. Physical therapy? That's where you connect the dots. In Motion OC? This is where you heal the dots. This clinic is so committed to their patients wellbeing -- I've never seen anything like it. I have learned more about my body here than I ever have anywhere. There is a heavy emphasis on not just treatment, but education that has really helped me become so much more aware of what my body needs. I came here feeling hopeless and in so much pain, and now I am blessed to have a whole team that has helped me more than I could have ever imagined. They are all top of their field, up to date on all the latest developments in the muskuloskeletal world and just incredible, kind, gentle angels. My lifesaver PT's are Jessie, Maddi and Amanda. These women are some of the most intelligent, most capable and most caring people I have ever met in my life. I don't know how they do it, but their hands are like metal detectors. They always go right to the source of my pain and are constantly evolving my treatment plan based on how I am progressing. And I have progressed -- a lot! Their super brilliant and sweet aids Ethan, Brooke and Jordan are all equally gifted at making sure I stay on track maintaining proper body mechanics through every excercise, and take the rests inbetween sets that my body needs to recover. Another huge plus? Aqua (pool) therapy! If you have complicated, chronic pain and have difficulty doing land exercises, I highly reccomend you try a pool session with Jessie. Not only does she really understand chronice pain, but she is super empathetic. The water is warm and relaxing and you don't even realize how hard you're working because the water magically takes away the pain so you're able to really move. :) Whoever does the hiring here--(maybe the back office angels, Steve, Deanna and Calvin?)--is some kind of emotionally intelligent genius. I have felt so comfortable and connected to everyone here. The front desk dream team: Lesly, Anna, Matt, Olivia, Marissa and someone that I am so sorry I'm blanking on her name, but she is so warm and personal and just a beautiful person -- honestly, every single person here is. Special thank you to Erik, Bryce, Kayla, Moses, and Edgar -- Oh! And speaking of Edgar, an amazing perk of this place is there is a side for PT and the other side is for fitness, so once you've made enough progress, you can also begin training with Edgar the fitness director who is a total guru and will help you make serious gains, optimally, without injuring, or reinjuring yourself! -- In Motion OC can litterally take you from injury to getting into the best shape of your life -- all in one place. I had a spinal fusion surgery and chose In Motion (Fountain Valley) for physical therapy. Olivia at the Front Desk greeted me with a big smile and always had a pleasant demeanor. She introduced me to Mitchelle, the Director of Physical Therapy. Mitchelle examined me for range of motion, strength, pain levels, scar tissue etc. I told her I wanted to jog and be able to lift 50 pounds in about seven weeks. She didn't flinch and put me on a challenging routine. She did say jogging wasn't a good idea unless under water. Mitchelle always knew where my limits where. Sometimes I would try to do something before I was ready like playing tennis and I needed a full day to recuperate. It wasn't really tennis but I was on a court and hit a few balls. Most of the exercises were new for me but always within my ability to perform without adding pain to my back. Mitchelle is a professional who reminds me of an Olympic training coach. She is very personable and comfortable to be around. I never felt any awkward silence or hesitation to do some unusual stretch. She too has a big smile and is in good shape. Most of the work you do is at home so make sure you have what you need to complete your routine like a timer, stretch band(s), etc. Jackie and Jacqueline are Aides and perfectionists. I recommend you do your exercises the right way or you will start over. They will correct a 3-5 degree out-of-alignment. They are also friendly and know their work. Before I started therapy my restrictions from my surgeon was no bending, no twisting, no sitting or standing for more than 30 minutes and a 15 pound lift. I was basically in a body cast for four months. I couldn't lay on my back for more than 30 minutes and it hurt. By the third session I knew this therapy was working. By the end of twelve sessions my flexibility improved to about 60%. I could shower and squeegee with very little pain. I could go to the beach without a chair to assist standing up after laying on my back for an hour or more. I lifted six 5 gallon water bottles that weighed 48 pounds each. I also jogged (shuffled) between two lifeguard towers (don't tell Mitchelle). I also went into the ocean and tried a short swim -very short but it was a start. It has now been a little over two months since my first session and I have received my first full time pay check from work. I've moved water cases (about 50 pounds), lifted boxed couches about 100 plus pounds) and loaded heavy desks (about 150 pounds). Not bad for someone who was going to live in a wheelchair. Thank you Jeff and Natalie for your excellent Physical Therapy clinic in Fountain Valley. Thank you staff for all of your help. Thank you Mitchell for your expertise, help and council. I highly recommend In Motion O.C. for physical therapy. These are just some of the reasons they are rated number one Physical Therapy in the nation on google reviews. This review is long over due and may end up being rather long because of it! I have been coming to In Motion OC since the beginning of May,(doctor referral), and was fairly apprehensive at first that PT was gong to help improve my back issues(mild scoliosis), and the pain that had been intensifying on my left side over a long period of time. I was a mess both physically and emotionally from the pain I had been enduring for quite some time an it had created huge amount of anxiety. Stephanie was my therapist. She was really great at accessing & creating a exercise program of what I needed to do in order to begin to strengthen my core & mid thoracic muscles. She even emailed videos of the exercises so I could remember them for doing at home. The trained knowledge I received from her, and the assistants, was great motivation for me to keep doing the exercises. Within a short amount of time I began to see improvements happen and pain & anxiety begin to subside. She encouraged my to transition over to the fitness side where I could continue my muscle strengthening journey with a more intensive workout. In August I started working with Edgar and he has been amazing at helping me develop a program that is geared to my strength building needs that is challenging yet achievable. The encouragement I still receive from Steph, and friendly PT assistants like David and Kim and helpful front desk staff have made my experience at In Motion OC extremely enjoyable! In Motion OC helped me achieve progress I never thought possible. After a severe leg break and knee dislocation, they took me from hopping on one leg to walking completely unassisted and pain-free! My motivation was at an all-time low after the accident, but everything changed once I started working with Garrett Jay, my physical therapist, along with assistants Dylan, Catherine, Ian, and Kiana, and occasionally the incomparable Reena and Nelson. The staff not only created a personalized exercise and stretching plan tailored to my needs but also restored my confidence in my physical abilities. Garrett is the consummate professional. He strikes the perfect balance between tough love and encouragement, meeting you where you are and pushing you just the right amount. Thanks to his guidance, I experienced constant, steady progress without a single stress injury or additional pain. I always look forward to my sessions, not just for the progress but also for the banter with the staff that brightens my day. Their kind, family-like dynamic makes every visit enjoyable, and their personalized conversations are the perfect distraction during challenging stretches. The front desk team, especially Kat, is also exceptional. They quickly learned my name and always check me in immediately, sparing me from waiting in line. My ortho recommended physical therapy for my right knee as I was experiencing stiffness, pain and swelling. I went with In Motion OC just by the google reviews and I am so glad I did that. In my consultation appointment, Ross was very attentive, enthusiastic, and professional. He accessed my knee with in-depth physical assessment and recommended a 6-week treatment plan for me. I looked forward for the treatment and started with it right away. I found Ross very knowledge, thorough, kind and dedicated to help the patients out with their issues. He always took time to explain my questions and made me feel more confident with the treatment. He always gave me alternatives if I was having problem doing a particular work out. For example, the wall squats gave me headaches as I was straining my neck muscles. I was given other variation of it to keep less strain on my neck. Every session, he was accessing how I was doing after each exercise and if it was helping the pain and stiffness. Based on that, he built a regime for me to work on my issues. I could see the exercises started helping my knee from the first visit itself. His helping staff, Dan and John were very helpful and patiently worked with me all through sessions. They were professional and made me feel home. I would highly recommend in Motion OC, and Ross for any physical therapy help. I recently had the pleasure of working with one of their physical therapists, Soleil, to heal from a broken ankle, and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. From the moment I walked into In Motion's welcoming and professional office, I knew that I was in good hands. Soleil was incredibly knowledgeable about my injury and was able to create a customized treatment plan that helped me make steady progress towards recovery. Throughout my time working with Soleil, she was always patient, understanding, and supportive. I have been coming here for several months now and I cannot say enough about my wonderful PT, Sean, who because of his commitment to my healing, keeps me motivated to continue showing up for my sessions. I have herniated discs on my upper and lower back plus severe arthritis of the hips. The road out of my problem is not easy, nor is it a quick fix. I've been blessed because Sean is amazing, patient, caring, a good listener, intelligent, positive, encouraging, and I can go on and on. So many reasons he makes me keep coming back. My progress and improvements are steady while he continues to educate me about my body and mind too, and I am endlessly grateful that he's kept me away from my pain medication. He's always watching and reading my movements every week and he and adjusts his plan of attack accordingly. He's the exercise whisperer and knows what I need to do to help me get better and stronger. I keep thanking him for persevering and not giving up on me. Just as important as Sean are the wonderful people he's surrounded with at In Motion OC. His PT Aides like Ethan and Eric are always there to help encourage through every rep and guide me through the correct form. Special shout out to Ethan who's a tremendous cheerleader who cracks me up all the time. And thank you to the front desk crew for always making me feel welcome. This Yelp review is long overdue as "life" got in the way for a time, but I just wanted to give heartfelt kudos to this wonderful PT clinic. Everyone from the friendly front desk staff, to the doctoral-trained physical therapists, and all their very capable PT assistants, were just phenomenal. Even though the clinic is busy, you are made to feel that YOU, the patient, are important to them and they are looking out for YOUR best interest at all times!! I had a Rotator Cuff injury with shoulder joint repair surgery late April 2019. Fortunately for me, I saw their Aquatic PT Therapy advertisement at a local pool pre-operatively and sought out this clinic after my surgeon gave me the PT green light. My therapist was Dr. Mitchelle G. for the land-based therapy and exercises, and Dr. Jesse L. for the Aquatic--both were absolutely kind and caring, careful yet realistic goal setters, extremely knowledgeable in their field yet respectful of the patient's self-awareness--both just downright fantastic! Their assistants were obviously well-trained and always right on cue to assist with next steps. I also loved how the updated, video- instructed exercises were sent to me each week via email so I could continue the program at home. Thank you, thank you, one and all. I was first introduced to In Motion for PT due to an IT Band issue....runners knee. I have always been pretty fit and thought I would join a gym soon, but the running I did kept me healty and strong. While in PT, I noticed on the other side of the facility, people getting nearly 1:1 coaching to strengthen muscles. I thought, wow, I have to do that. Over two years later, I have been an active member of In Motion's strength training program. I am hooked, strong, healthy and fit. I get nearlyl 1:1 coaching, all muscle groups and cardio are addressed and the trainers are AMAZING. Jimmy and Christy provide coaching to corrrect form, we hit all muscle groups, they push to the extent they know YOU need or want it, they accommodate when you need it due to injuries. As a working professional, I don't have time to monkey around in a gym trying to figure things out. These guys and the whole team at In Motion are amazing, kind, helpful, accommodating. I can go on and on. They are great. I will continue working out here for as long as they are in business. My figure is seriously in the best form it has ever been in. I am fit, strong, healthy and complimented all the time. Although my weight hasn't changed, I am constantly asked if I have lost weight. It is the work outs. After months and months of chiropractic treatment for chronic neck pain (that was causing migraines but I didn't realize that was the cause of them) I sought out In Motion OC for help with my posture and neck pain. After approximately two months of treatment my migraines were gone compleatly without the use of any medication, and have stayed that way. My body needed correcting and retraining to correct the poor posture I had developed over years Victor helped me to strengthen my core and back muscles to creat long term results. I have work with many of the PT's at In Motion and they have been very helpful to me on my path to recovery. I'm continuously impressed by the knowledge and dedication to accuracy the aids possess as well. They are able to correct the smallest mistake I could be making while preforming a exercise and it makes all the difference, that's when I get results! I had tried for years and years on my own with work out videos, group classes and you tube videos to achieve body corrections and alleviate pain and would only create more problems. What I needed was the knowledgable and trained eye to direct my efforts in a resulting way. I highly recommend In Motion OC for recovery and conditioning. I specifically signed up for yelp after visiting In Motion OC. Yesterday i was really scared... i had an awesome Home Care job for the elderly and pulled a muscle and then felt numbness in my hand. I thought the injury might turn into a tear ,as loosing feeling in your hand is scary. bye bye job. I read a review about Katie Boss who specialized in shoulders and she really helped me.. She did a great job at scanning and strategizing where the problem came from, and showed me a series of photos so I could visualize what she saw the problem as being. She then gave me great exercises to do, and made sure i was doing them correctly. gave me massage points to do with my sports massager. Then, because she is INCREDIBLE at listening.. she determined how and where I got the injury in the first place, and gave simple yet GREAT instructions for preventative measures so I don't get into this situation again. THANKS KATIE! oh have to say something about Diana as well... as a customer service rep, she was PERFECT. I was pretty tired and frazzled when talking to her as I work the graveyard shift, she listened intently and focused on how they could help. She did it with grace, kindness and professionalism. Excellent choice, even for temporary visitors! I was in town for a month and looked for PT in network for my insurance and also close to where I was staying. InMotion was one of the options and I am so glad I chose it and wish they had one at my home town! Stephanie was my PT and she was really knowledgeable and helped me regain a large proportion of my shoulder motion--I had very limited motion from a broken arm injury. There are so many unique and helpful things they do here that my PT at home does not. At InMotion they e-mail you links to video/photos of the exercises you are supposed to do so you can prepare. Each visit is 1 hour long with ~ 1/2 hr of exercise under supervision of an assistant (all were very helpful and nice), and 1/2 hr with the therapist one-on-one and somehow they are nearly half the price of my PT back home! And when you finish you get a T shirt! Unexpected and nice touch at the end. It is a very clean facility that has separate area for PT and for regular workout. And also a nice women's locker room where you can shower after if needed. Plenty of free parking also. Convenient location on not too busy street. I miss them already! read more

I had a shoulder injury that was keeping me from living my best life. After ignoring it for 6 months i took time to research multiple Physical Therapies. I found a distinct difference in the staff and mission of In Motion OC as soon as I had my first appointment. They know exactly what they are doing and HEALTH is more important to them than anything. My PT, Haze, told me "I want you to get better, so you don't have to keep coming back." After several months with Haze, I was cleared to no longer continue PT. In Motion OC doesn't only offer Physical Therapy, though. I now use their gym and train with their personal trainers Ryan, Edgar, and Dom. A dedicated team that is not only training your body better, but also your mind! Their approach to Personal Training is to teach you important PRINCIPLES of working out, as well as excellent technique and form, so that even outside of sessions with them, you are able to apply these things to your daily life. Best part about In Motion OC is the lovely front desk staff that greets you with a warm welcome and takes care of your appointments, they are able to work with a very flexible schedule. I came here a few years ago for a back injury with work. The professional staff on the PT side were so engaging and helped get me moving again in no time. The location is clean and the employees are friendly. Once I had completed my physical therapy they recommended I try the personal training, which I did. I felt comfortable knowing the personal training was attached to a physical therapy business so they would ensure what you do is safe for your body. I have been working with Edger and Ryan for over a year now. I started with little to no weights in training and very limited strength. I now find myself feeling strong and confident thanks to their program. Using an app to sign up for sessions means you can easily work in a workout that is best for your schedule. These coaches are truly passionate about what they do. They are there not only there to guide you and support you, but their knowledge of their profession makes me feel confident that I can push myself and I won't be injured. I have never been one to be very comfortable in a gym, but the supportive, family-like atmosphere they have created has made the gym one of my favorite places to be. read more

Thank you Katie Boss and In Motion OC! I cannot recommend you enough! Two years ago, Katie helped me deal with chronic back and knee pain. In several weeks, the pain that had been with me for years was completely gone and I could go back to playing with my son and my other favorite activities. So when I was diagnosed with hip labral tear and needed PT, I immediately called and asked for Katie. The tear was quite big and very painful and my surgeon was considering surgery. After working with Katie for less than 12 weeks, my pain is almost gone. I literally can go about my day, go on long hikes, and exercise without discomfort. Katie is very committed to her patients. She has tremendous knowledge, experience, and a great analytical mind. When designing my treatment plan, she took into account my health history and even minor problems I mentioned in passing. Katie's programs have always been challenging just enough and she has been very sensitive to my individual needs. Love this company! I originally went to a physical therapy previous to my shoulder surgery and they did not give me the proper care nor treatment that was needed. When I was told about "In Motion OC", I was at first hesitant of another P.T. company, but then I was blown away at the professional care, amazing facility, and follow up. I now have full rotation of my shoulder and full strength. My PT- Doctor "Haze" was so on top of every thing, he would email me exercises, stretches and things to do between visits. I loved when I would show up for my appointment, I was immediately greeted by name from the receptionist. All the employees are very friendly, dressed alike and professional. My over all experience is much more than a 5 star (lets call it 10 star). This was the best experience and I would refer "In Motion OC" to everyone!!! My last day of treatment was both sad and exciting. I felt as if i had a truly great friendship and was truly going to miss this place. I worked with Garrett for several weeks following a hospitalization, and the difference in my pain level has been significant, in large part thanks to the program created for me. But most importantly, the attitudes of the team really made a difference for me. I was super anxious to begin, as I knew my strength was nowhere near what it once was, and from the intake appointment alone I could tell I had nothing to worry about. It really became a highlight of my week, and has totally changed my perception of what Physical Therapy is and how it can help someone like me with an autoimmune disease - I didn't know what a difference it could make for chronic illnesses. I can't more highly recommend. Garrett, Dylan, and Ian, who I worked with over these weeks, were just so great, but the entire staff at In Motion as well are incredibly friendly and you can really tell it's such a great place to go for healing based on everyone's attitudes when they arrive.
