I used In N Out Air last year for my ac and heating maintenance. They were reliable then. However, this year they didn't show up or even call for the appointment that I scheduled with them. When I called to inquire if someone was coming out, they called back and Hovik told me that he hurt his back and couldn't do the service. He told me that Anita had called me to cancel my appointment and to reschedule. When I explained to him that I never received a call from his company, he blew me off and insisted that she called because he was standing right there when she called. So let me get this straight: I call and schedule an appointment during the two hour window that your company gave me, then no one shows up for the scheduled appointment, and no one calls to reschedule the appointment, and then you insist that I did get a call?? This is really a 4.6 for only one shortcoming -- when you call this company they don't have enough people picking up the phone. You have to wait for a call back. Since they otherwise were pros I'll give them the 5 stars anyway. A few days ago Pasadena got hit with 114 degrees. My 30 year old HVAC system has been fading for years now but it outright failed. I had an electrician repair guy (I've used multiple times before) fiddle with it, shrug his shoulders a few times in community musical theatrics, and pronounce the system DEAD. Then he wasted no time suggesting the entire system be fixed to the tune of 1000s. And implying all my neighbors have already done so... IE... why am I such a loser? Ahem. So I hit YELP and found this well rated vendor. I've found most repair companies insist upon possibly showing up at 7AM but give themselves the entire day to choose IF they show at all. I'm a proud YELPER that helps end such businesses with scathing reviews. IN AND OUT AIR allowed me a better window. Between noon to two. Hrach showed up at noon -- AS PROMISED -- and didn't spend half his visit taking calls. It was over 100 degrees on my back patio and so I gave him a can of Soliel (think La Croix). One when he left too. Within 35 minutes (?) he had fixed the unit. FIXED. A broken capacitor. $335. He took a look at my system and felt it could use a complete overhaul. He expressed this as a technician more than a pushy salesman. I really appreciated that. I would recommend this vendor to anyone. read more

Called In N Out Air, based on reviews here, to fix a problem with the heat on my old furnace. Hovik came the next day, quickly diagnosed the problem, clearly explained the issue, procured the replacement part from the manufacturer, replaced, and all is working well. I haven't had my AC looked at since Hovik came out three years ago. My house had a funny odor so I called him as I had a good experience last time. He sent out a very upbeat gentleman who first changed my filter, then he found that the AC drain was backing up and causing the smell. He went under the house and fixed it (was really a job for a plumber). Then sealed the screen around it. He also told me that I did not need Freon. Finally, he showed me how to change the filter in the future myself, All in all a very professional experience. I recommend this company highly. read more

Today July 6, 2018 record breaking extreme heat wave...came home to warm air coming out of my AC system immediately called In N Out air left a message and Anita called me back within 30 minutes ....Hovik the owner came out and replaced the starter on the condenser and all is well again with cool air in my house thank you so much. I called this company after I read all the wonderful reviews. My AC stopped working and was blowing warm air. Since this happened last month, (September), the average temperature was about 105 and obviously pretty urgent. I called this company and they were the only ones that were able to come out the very next day, so I hired them. Long story short, the fan motor im my AC unit was not working and it needed a replacement. Hovic fortunately had one with him so I agreed to the price and the service so the work was done. He then recommended to add some freon which would cost extra but would help with performance so I did. Unit was working and Hovik left. That same night, the unit stopped working again. Same problem: it was blowing warm air. Also I noticed that there were wires coming out of the unit which I didn't think was normal (see picture). Hovik was nice enough to reply to my message right away and scheduled to come out the very next day and assured me that it was not the new part. He got here the next day and somehow the unit is working properly so Hovik left and I begged him to assure me there is nothing wrong with the part. He then guaranteed the part for 10 years. 4 days later, again the unit had the same problem and it was not working. At this point I started researching about the parts and realized that I was overcharged and that the part was not an original. I contacted Hovik and he replied to my message right away. He showed up at my house again after a few hours. The unit was not working. My husband asked him to give us a carrier original part and the entire time they were arguing. Hovik was adamant that his part was not the problem. And he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the unit. He then lists all the possible things that could be wrong with the unit; and is still adamant about it not being due to the part he changed. Long story short he left the house with the promise that he would give us an original part. The very next day, somehow the unit worked again. We believe somehow it was tripping and then it would reset and work again (due to the new part). Whatever it was, it had to do with the fan motor. A week passes by and I get a message from Hovik saying they have the part. This time he sends me another technician who installed the part, made sure everything was working and left. We have not had problems since the original part was installed. Why the bad review? 1.-Instead of being adamant about the part he gave us not being deficient, he should have really tried to figure out what the problem was. 2.- the poor installation as you can see in the picture. 3.- we were simply overcharged. read more

We had an issue with our furnace that resulted in it blowing air, but not heat. Called In N Out Air based on reviews here on Yelp and I couldn't have been happier with the result. They were quick to make an appointment convenient for me. Hovik called ahead when he was on his way - arriving early. He examined the system and after checking a few electric connections to ensure power was going where it was supposed to, identified the issue which was the gas feed to the unit, which he immediately corrected. In N Out Air is an extremely competent service company, well priced, responsive, and Hovik was great to deal with - I enjoyed his company on top of appreciating his fast and focused diagnosis of our issue. I must admit that I am less impressed than most of the other reviewers on here. They showed up at my house to look at my HVAC that was pooling water. They told me that the unit wasn't installed right and they couldn't help me and to instead call a plumber. Instead of calling a plumber I snaked the HVAC drainage line myself and fixed the problem. When asking them about what my options are for a replacement unit (mine is pretty old), I didn't feel that he was very helpful. I felt like they just wanted to get In N Out. Should have called a different company rather than waiting a full week with no AC and still pay the $99 for the service call. UPDATE 2018/06 - They contacted me and did return my check for the service call which I appreciate. To be fair, the drainage line for my HVAC does appear to be done outside of industry specifications. I was frustrated because I pretty much already knew that the drainage line was blocked from my research and was surprised that In N Out didn't have the tools to snake it and instead told me to call a plumber which would have been another several hundred dollars or more. Overall I am pleased with their response and am bumping the review up from 2 stars to 3 for their good customer service. read more

Our A/C went out on Thursday night between Pasadena-area heatwaves, nearby Bobcat Fire, and COVID. Used Yelp reviews, and called In N Out Air at 9:21 am Friday morning. After explaining to the lady on the phone the issue (fan runs, but no cooling), she set an appointment time between 10 am & 12 pm same day. Imagine my surprise when the owner called me a few minutes before 10 am and said he'd be right there... and he was. He and an assistant checked out the central air unit, identified the problem, replaced the failed part, verified that the refrigerant was topped up, and completed the whole task in about 15 minutes. He was quite pleasant, and had a reasonable flat-rate price, too. I'm completely satisfied, and recommend In N Out Air to anyone with an issue with their cooling system. read more

I had a great experience calling In N Out Air. The receptionist wasn't able to answer all of my questions but she had Hovik call me back within the minute. He answered some questions I had about my heating system over the phone. Hovik is a joy. He's very competent, honest, punctual and pleasant. Several years ago he fixed our ~40 yr old a/c. (It's still working) Today he repaired the heater. I really got the feeling he was trying to save us money. He started with, "Did you check the batteries in the thermostat?" He finished the call with a recommendation that we change the main filter more often. In the end Hovik serviced the inducer assembly. His fee was extremely reasonable. Well, my heating system went out last week (thermostat not responding properly), so I purchased a NEST thermostat and decided to peruse Yelp in order to have the system diagnosed properly. I of course looked for a local company and came upon In N Out Air and noticed as I continued reading the reviews - ALL 5 Stars without exception. I had no other choice but to give them a try and determine for myself. I called, left a message and received a prompt return phone call. First test passed with flying colors. I advised her of the heating issues I was having and of the NEST thermostat I had purchased and also wanted installed. She advised me that she would check if I was in their service area and if so had a Wednesday and Thursday opening for the week. She again called back promptly, advised me that they did service my area and had an open appointment for the day, which I gladly and readily accepted. Hovik responded on time with his partner, and initially checked the old thermostat and filter (which was as dirty as could be imagined) They then Checked my system which was located in the basement and observed an additional filter attached directly to the unit (equally dirty as the first) and subsequently reset the system (my fingers crossed that I had not caused major damage). They also advised me that the upstairs filter was not necessary and was actually making the system work harder. To my delight at that point it was up and running. Next step was to remove the old thermostat and install the NEST. Again true to form they installed the NEST, and connected it to my Wi-FI. Finally test was to set the thermostat and determine if the system performed perfectly. Successful operation for both heater and air conditioner. Also as advertised, Hovik explained everything to me throughout the process step by step as it was being performed. And the price was more than commensurate with the outstanding service. Did I mention they also replaced the filter and made sure I now know to change it on a regular basis. Well if you use another company for any heating / Air Conditioning Service you're doing yourself and huge disservice. Stop here, go no further, you won't be disappointed in any respect. They deserve at least Ten Stars in every aspect of their excellent knowledge, service and dependability. I've had several pleasurable experiences using Yelp but this has far and above been the best. I can't believe I've never left a review for these people before. We've been in our house for 25 years and because of a remodel before we bought it, we've never had good airflow to the master bedroom. Multiple HVAC people have looked at this without a solution. We replaced the main unit at one point and it still didn't make a difference. In N Out was at our house for something else -- I don't remember what -- and commented that our ducting was all wrong. They fixed the ducting and now, for the first time since we moved in 25 years ago, we have airflow to the master bedroom. Another thing I appreciated is that one of the people who had looked at our system previously said that it was underpowered and should be replaced (this was the newer unit). In N Out said that our existing unit was just fine, and didn't try to upsell us on yet another unit. So we don't have a lot of experience with them, and the reducting was expensive, but 5 stars since they were able to do what no other service had been able to accomplish. read more

Hovik's 45-minute visit was like watching Picasso paint or Ted Williams hit a baseball. I have never, ever seen anyone who so obviously knows EXACTLY what he is doing. This company is a family owned business that I happened to call after searching in Yelp and so glad I did. My air conditioning was not working. The owner is Havik who was a God sent miracle. I called and got an appointment the next day which is so unusual as when the weather is hot you cannot get an appointment with other companies for over a week or so. Havik arrived early and had me turn on the air as he proceeded to look at the air conditioning Unit outside. He told me it was not even running and the problem was in the panel box. He looked at the breaker and it sparked so it was more than just the breaker. He told me I needed an electrician but he was not licensed to fix it for me. He also said that most likely that was the problem and that the air conditioner,he believed would be fine once the electrician took care of the problem. Since he did not work on air conditioner he was 't charging me as he did nothing. I was to call him if the air didn't work after I had fixed the electrical. He was so honest and fair that I can't say enough about him. He even called me back later on to see if the Electrican fixed the problem and if the air was working which it was. He closed out the ticket. As honest and fair as he was I will never call anyone else for air and hearing and I think everyone should do the same. Havik is a beautiful man inside and out and you'd be foolish for not calling him when you needed an air and heating company. read more

Everything these posts say about Hovik is true. He has already fixed my AC unit prior to looking at my heating issues. I would say his company is busy just because they are in demand but trust me when I say wait for their call back or e-mail and schedule an appointment with them. There are a lot of companies in yelp with good reviews but they will just send young contracted workers that do not have the expertise that innoutair has. I called innoutair for a second opinion on my heater since another company looked at it and started trying to sell me no upfront cost program and no payments in the 1st months for a whole system makeover. (I work in finance so yeah this did not fly well with me) I thanked the guy for coming and paid the $70 fee lying that i would consider the ridiculous option he presented me. Hovik came in the next day .... diagnosed my situation and now we are going to replace my almost 40 year old AC and HVAC unit after I resolve some electrical issues.(He also referred a guy to fix my breaker) As I mentioned before ... go with InNOut air .... you will not regret it! read more

After reading so many reviews from so many AC companies, I decide to make appt today with Anita (I found out later that she is Hovik's wife), she was very helpful and squeezed me in around 3-5pm. The AC would not turn on and my husband thought it was from thermostat so he replaced it and it is still not working. When Hovik came to the house he figured it out right away that it was from the wiring that messed up and burned the fuse so he rewired them and made it work in 20 minutes, he also replaced the thermostat with a good brand to prevent problem in the future. The cost is fair and reasonable, may be he felt sorry for all the work and effort my husband had put in for couple days with no result. Burbank Having heater issues. I called this company for a second opinion. Since my heater is now working they were unable to determine the cause & couldn't do a good inspection so they didn't charge me. Yes you heard me right, he did not charge me anything, Zip, nada, nothing, $0. I know at some point I will need to replace the unit. So I inquired and I was given a good price, for everything. I was told to call if the heater stops again so he can do a inspection as there are many parts it could be and he rattled off about 6 off the top of his head. It's so nice not sold to. The 1st company statements didn't add up. I needed a expensive part but wasn't answered why. Or why it is now working & if that part is needed how is it working. I was going to have them do the work. However when I got their invoice they wrote it as if they had already done the work. Showing a balance due. That bothered me, so I questioned it, i was told it was easy for him to just do it that way. So is that how he repairs stuff too? So I asked about the type of equipment I had I was told he didn't know. So how would he know the part I need or what it cost? I email & I still hadn't heard back. From time to time I forget to Trust my gut, if you feel something is wrong, trust it and use someone else. It's your hard earned money and peace of mind. I have found my repair company! read more

Excellent service! I'm definitely using these guys again! Gave us what we need and helped refill the Freon. Their price was very reasonable and didn't scare me (from the first estimate that I received a quote from a different company they said it would cost me so much money ($800-$900) to refill the Freon!!!! Yikes!! And they also wanted to change out my entire a/c unit and quoted me over $10,000 for the job! It's crazy!!) This service fee of $99 (standard) was applied to the job they worked on.... refilled the Freon and charged me a very reasonable price. While the "other company" charged me $89 for the service call. Which I paid. They replace the air filter that didn't even fit! read more
