Called them for service in October 2025 because my HVAC compressor would not start. The technician quoted me $100 for the initial diagnostic, $350 for a capacitor replacement, plus $410 per pound for missing R-410A refrigerant + labor for recharging the system (I was apparently missing 3 lbs), a $1,200 leak check, and potentially more if they could not find the leak. I declined the refrigerant and leak check work and asked only to address the immediate compressor-start issue because the unit is about 15 years old and I did not want to put major money into it. The interaction was unpleasant. I said I wanted to hold off on the refrigerant, and how in principle one could purchase it for $20 per pound after taking a short EPA test. The technician became argumentative and talked over me for an extended period about legality, expertise, inventory costs, and why the pricing was justified. I understand companies have overhead, but 1. this company was charging north of $1000 in just labor for a 30 min job (yes, I looked up the procedure) and 2. I felt pressured and talked down to. I agreed to the capacitor replacement because I was aware of the electrical risks and wanted the system running. During the work, there was a spark while the capacitor was being removed. After that incident, the control board no longer worked, and the technician replaced it at no charge. I appreciated that, but it did not inspire confidence. Fast forward to May 2026: the HVAC would not start again. Another diagnosis found that the capacitor installed less than a year earlier was completely dead. More importantly, the installed capacitor was rated 50+5 µF, while my unit calls for 45+5 µF. That is a basic part-spec mismatch. I was also told the Titan Pro series capacitor they used was not made in the USA, unlike the Titan HD or the trusted Amrad brand. Now, if you were in the business of making money off of HVAC service, would you install a capacitor that failed every year or every 10 years? I paid a premium price for what should have been a straightforward capacitor replacement, dealt with a high-pressure upsell, and then later discovered the wrong capacitance rating had been installed. Based on that experience, I would not use this company again and would recommend getting a second opinion. read more

Avi came right on time, and was very helpful in explaining the options I have - repair versus replacing the unit. I didn't feel pressured to replace, although he did recommend that as the better route overall for longevity. Due to my budget, I ended up repairing the unit at a reasonable price. They were super quick and the unit was running ultra smoothly and even sounded better (less loud and noisy after they replaced a dying component). We called last-minute during a holiday (Labor day) when our AC stopped working. They came right away and diagnosed our system. Shay our technician was very knowledgeable, patient and explained everything he was doing to diagnose our system in simple terms. He was not "pushy" which was great! Once he figured out why our system was not working, we discussed our options and prices which were very modest. We ended up fixing our AC system (which is great given the heatwave we are experiencing right now) and it was at a very comfortable price. We have owned our home for almost 4 years and never had the HVAC unit serviced. Every summer, we tentatively crank up the ac, not knowing what shape our HVAC unit is in. We wanted to change that. We' did know that the unit was about 10-12 years old. We just didn't know when it was last serviced. We started looking for a HVAC servicing company. We found Pioneers on Yelp! We were impressed with their yelp profile and their reviews! We then cross referenced these reviews with the reviews on Google and we were quite impressed. We submitted a yelp request and less than 10 minutes later we were chatting with a representative. I appreciated how quickly they could get to our home (the following day) and the early time slot (9am to 12pm). Our tech Ariel showed up promptly between the time slot. Asked me if there was anything wrong with the ac. I told him no and this was just maintenance. He advised he would go up to the roof and perform general inspection, maintenance, and suggestions. He spent about 20 minutes up there and told me that my system was in great shape. A bit dirty. But in great shape for a system manufactured 10 years ago. We were relieved. He did say that the system was slightly below the acceptable amount of Freon and provided us the cost to top off the Freon. We did for peace of mind. Last summer, our AC broke down during a weekend of 100+ degree heat. Avi was the only person who showed up to provide guidance and feedback on our 20+ year-old AC unit. At the time, the unit had just been repaired by another company, which made the situation even more frustrating--but that company wasn't available over the weekend. Avi still showed up to consult, which we greatly appreciated. The other company did manage to help after the weekend and got the unit running again. However, for the rest of the summer, although the unit technically worked, our house never reached the level of cool we needed. This year, we decided to invest in a brand new system. I had called Pioneer to come inspect my AC since it wasn't cooling the house. They were able to come the same day, but the service was not great and questionable. First, the technician told me it might be an electrical issue or condenser. Which would be 1-2k to fix. He then said because my unit was old I could replace it with a more efficient unit for 14k. I said I would think about it. Later as he's closing up the unit I start hear hissing and go outside to look. He tells me that as he closing up the Freon started to leak. So now I'm all out of Freon. He gets on the phone to talk to his supervisor and comes back to me to say they can replace the whole unit for 13k now since they messed up. I said I still need to think about it and just paid the service fee so he would leave. Later in the afternoon another technician comes and says he wants to double check. He says it's not an electrical issue but the condenser is bad and needs to be replaced. They have a team working in the area in the next few days and they can do it for 12k. Very sketchy. Who knows what the first technician did to release all the Freon. Be careful of the company's tactics. read more

We haven't had our vents cleaned for years and had some of the floor vents' insulation ripped out possibly by rodents. Menny checked all the floor vents, heating units and return vents and made a recommendation for deep cleaning in lieu of replacements. He completed all the work in about 2 hours including sanitization. Everything is running great now and air flow is now much better. read more
