(this review is not for the food, which is always a 10/10) They need to put out some cones or something to organize the drive thru line. I was cut off by 3 cars as I was waiting with my blinker on to turn into the line, the cars came from every direction. They had only 1 person taking orders with the massive line & no comment to all the line cutting that was happening. Super frustrating & it's this & a 30+ minute drive thru experience every time. Really wish they'd manage the operations better. Cones for directing cars & a secondary person outside would go a long way. I don't think I've ever had an In-N-Out experience like this before. The line at this Mira Mesa location was shockingly fast. From getting in line to ordering to having food in hand, it took about 10 minutes total. I almost didn't believe it. Everything ran so smoothly, and the team was incredibly efficient without feeling rushed or chaotic. But the real highlight? The burger. I ordered a Double-Double with a mustard-fried patty, whole grilled onions, and an extra toasted bun with a Diet Coke, and when I say this was the best In-N-Out burger I've ever had, I mean it. It was piping hot, unbelievably fresh, and perfectly put together. I've never held an In-N-Out burger that felt this fresh off the grill. The first bite completely confirmed it--it was heavenly. Mira Mesa's location is one of the best in all of San Diego, yezzir in food & service. But for some reason today was a little off - just wanted to alert customers (and staff) that if your order was read to you inaccurate at the first window and they had to add something (due to miscommunication with girl outside, all good it happens but she could at least smile next time), then you gotta double-check your bag yourself at the second window that it was really added even if you get verbally reassured that yes all THREE Flying Dutchmans are in there. If we were smart we would've physically double-checked regardless, but haven't had a mishap in a whiiiile. So we drove off without thinking twice, only to find out down the road second-window girl was wrong/didn't really check cuz we were missing the third Dutchman! So ofc called, talked to an excellent, compassionate customer service agent who called MM location & let the manager know we were going back for the missing burger. Get there, tell cashier the situation, she gives me the bag and that's that. Totally get they're super busy, they always are. But would have been a great own-the-moment if manager gave me the bag himself with an apology, just saying. Other places we've experienced they take the time & even give a token of amends for the error, you know what I mean. But this spot is nonstop, just saying they'd be top dog if during both crazy busy times and mistaken orders, they could 1) smile and 2) make things right genuinely. Ok bye. Sometimes the drive thru line gets a little crazy here during their busy hours, as it is located in the same lot as the H Mart and Daiso. But the line seems to always work itself out in a civil manner, because we are in San Diego, after all. I can say for sure that this layout just won't work out in Los Angeles, but it does here. (It still stresses me out a little, because I'm a disillusioned LA driver and expect everyone to cut everywhere there is an opportunity) Can you believe In-N-Out is less expensive than other mainstream less-quality fast food burger places these days? Despite the protests of Jen, stating that In-N-Out is a terrible burger, I demanded that we stop at one and I am extremely happy that I did, as their burger is, as far as I am concerned, one of the most outstanding fast food burgers I have had. I can understand why there are several people that are not fans of the double double, and that is because of the addition of their special sauce, which is obviously mayonnaise-based. Any burger with mayonnaise is a polarizing topic, but the one I had at In-N-Out was not only delicious but also had extremely fresh ingredients stacked high on it and that paid off in flavor and texture with a premium experience at a fast food price with fast convenience. The staff was also very friendly even though we came in during lunch prime time on a Friday and there was quite a large amount of people working that made everything run extremely smoothly as compared to other fast food burger spots. The place was extremely clean and bright with white tile and booths everywhere along with their trademark red and yellow colors throughout the restaurant, replete with the red palm trees along the walls built into the tile patterns. The one thing that didn't shine though was the fries. Despite being made and cut from freshly sourced potatoes, they were possibly the absolute worst French fries I think I may have ever had. Not crisp, very strange, with little seasoning, and a very weird texture; almost like foam. However, the trade off was the exceptional burger, and I would come back again for that burger. Again and again actually. Unfortunately, there are no In-N-Outs near Philly or anywhere on the east coast I believe, so I'll have to reserve this for trips out west. If you are out west and happen to take a trip to California for business or for pleasure, you must make it a point to stop at In-N-Out if you have never been to one and see if it is for you. It's an experience unlike any that I have had, at least in a very long time, in fast food here in the east and i can't imagine it being a bad one. With the different varieties and customization available to the sandwiches and choices on the menu, you're sure to find something for yourself....oh and be sure to try the awesome little pickled hot peppers that are served at the condiment bar. I was REALLY hungry and came here for the first time. Luckily it wasn't during the times where I've seen long lines of cars--I got through pretty quickly. My double burger, no cheese, extra grilled onions, lettuce and tomatoes was just soooo delicious and such a reasonable price--just over $5! What added to the positive experience, though, was Angel who was a greeter outside. As I gave my order to him I mentioned it was my first visit and he was very very helpful, telling me how to order and that I could ask for "extras". He made the visit so much smoother and the burger was exactly what I wanted so shout-out to him especially. We tend to stay nearby whenever we visit San Diego and this In n Out is an obvious choice for the late night munchies. We were here the weekend of October 11-13. Truthfully not sure if the exact date of our visit really fell closer to late October 12 or early AM October 13. But the point of this review is to highlight Richard, who was working the first window as the cashier on the day of our visit. Real standup guy. Great conversation, great vibe, even gave us some in n out hats and coloring books for fun. Total comedy and a really fun experience despite the typically long delays you'd face at any in n out joint. Even helped us add an additional order of fries which we never ended up getting - not really his fault and the first time I've ever faced an issue like this before - so we were a bit bummed but still wanted to give him a shout out for the fun time. If someone can reach out to get me a refund on the missing order, that would be totally great. Otherwise, corporate, if you're reading this, Richard definitely deserves a raise. The drive thru makes me not want to go to this place. There are three ways to enter into the drive thru line and no order to it. I feel like I might have to get into a fight every time I use the drive thru. Chaos. Customer service is always great! Smaller In and Out and 1st time we've ever seen a line actually out the door. We opted for the drive thru and it was long but moved pretty quickly. Burgers and fries were fresh and hot as usual. Super tasty! There is some seating inside and a few tables outside, area is well lit and surrounded by some stores so you can eat and wander a bit if you want. In n out is a classic California fast food restaurant. The lines always move so quickly and you honestly can not beat the prices. I usually get a double double and animal style fries with some chopped chilis and it always tastes great coming from this location. This location, like many other in n out locations always seems to be crowded so just beware of that. The drive thru line may seem really long but it honestly goes by really quickly. For those who prefer to dine in, parking can be a bit difficult during really busy times as its in a shopping plaza with an HMart and many other restaurants/stores. read more

I have gone to this in an out easily over 200 times. Food and service are normally good. Sometimes the food is better, sometimes the line is faster. Staff is great. On may 16th around 11 pm I came here for what looked like a normally line. Should have taken 10-15 min max for the drive through..... well I was stuck between ordering and picking up food for around 75 min. okay... so I'm going to be completely honest... I like their food. I like their burgers (especially animal style, where they grill the onions and add extra pickles and sauce), I like their fries (which you can also get animal style: cheese, sauce, and grilled onions), and I like their shakes (i prefer half vanilla, half chocolate). I've never had a bad experience with their service, and when I do drive thru, the food is always plenty hot when I get it home (my parents always microwaved it anyway, but I think that's excessive because we're not that far away). ... but I don't get the lines for the drive thru. Here and in Carmel Mountain Ranch, the lines can be absolutely insane. Like, extending out of the parking lot sometimes. Don't get me wrong, they keep the line moving and I haven't had a wrong order yet, even when it gets busy, but... seriously, why? It's like everyone in San Diego always has a craving all the time. The food is good, really good, and the "secret menu" is kind of fun if you think about it, I guess, but the demand is insane. We were just walking around in the plaza and saw that there was an In-N-Out. Mind you, we both just had a pretty filling meal for lunch BUT definitely had to jump at the opportunity and see what the hype is all about. This location has a drive-thru and lots of seating available, both inside and outside. I decided to get the cheeseburger meal, animal style for the burger and my meal was made ready in a jiffy! After having a few bites of the meal, I'd say that the food is top tier, in terms of fast food chains. Not gourmet, of course, but a thousand times better than the local McDonald's or Wendy's. This in n out I have to say is probably the most consistent in n out in terms of quality you get. The drive thru line can get long so sometimes I do opt in and park and go inside and take it to go but either way they are efficient in getting your order to you. My go to lately has been a double double with no tomato but add grilled onion and ketchup and a cheese fry that I add spread to once I am home. It always hits the spot! read more

Always a busy location with the drive thru option in a popular food/grocery lot, but the line usually moves quick. Located where Hmart, Daiso, Meet Fresh, and UPS is, so there is parking available if you wanted to order inside the restaurant, but it can be hard to get out of the parking lot with the drive thru line. One of the best/fastest moving drive thru lines of the majority of In-N-Out burgers I have frequented. Even during peak times the total time from line to pickup is no longer than 20 minutes typically. Quality is great and consistent as the franchise typically is. The college students who take your order are very kind and polite. One them complimented my car so I'm clearly biased. *Tip* when the line is extra long during peak times you will find that the line snakes around the parking lot. Prices have been increasing steadily (see menu photo) but this is still the best value fast food burger. I always use the drive-thru, which at this location can be a frustrating experience because people turning in from Mira Mesa Blvd always try to cut in line instead of circling around to get to the back of the line where Applebees is. Otherwise, once your order is taken, it's a quick trip to pay and pickup. I always order the cheeseburger or double double animal-style. That means grilled onions, mustard-grilled patties to maximize moisture and char, and some extra pickles and sauce. Fries are ordered WELL DONE. I do not know why that is not their default cooking mode for their fries, because it would stop all the complaints I hear about In N Out fries being underdone. I order some extra free sauce packets to drench my burger and fries with, and that caps off a delicious, filling and affordable meal. Service is always excellent and enthusiastic. I come here much more frequently than my reviews reflect . I'm sometimes lured from the streets by the smell of the grilled onions. read more

In-n-out has always been a go-to spot for me. Although the prices have gone up due to inflation, the quality and service is always great. This location has a few tables outside for seating with their red and white themed booths and tables on the inside. I always recommend going inside to order even if it's for take out since I think it's faster than the drive-thru. The food comes out pretty quick. I recommend a double double (two meat patties and two slices of cheese), whole grilled onions, and extra toasted buns. If you're gonna get an order of fries, I'd recommend either getting the animal style version which consists of fries topped with grilled onions, melted cheese and their signature sauce. You can also ask for it to be fried light well or well done for that extra crunch. The fries at In-N-Out would be their only weakness but that's just my own opinion. I also wash down the food with either a lemon-up, a mix of their pink lemonade and 7-up, or a Neapolitan shake. If you like spicy, ask for chopped chilis in your burger or ask for some peppers on the side. If you don't want bread, ask for a flying Dutchmen (beef patty with cheese) or protein style (wrapped in lettuce). read more

I love this In-N-Out because it is close to the freeway and they are always consistent with getting my orders correct. The only bad thing about this location is that the drive thru gets backed up easily. I recommend parking and going inside to order food. It is always pretty crowded at this location, but the workers are friendly and stay on top of getting orders out quickly. It is a typical In-N-Out restaurant with an identical look to the Vista location. I love getting a double double, animal style, extra toasty bun, and whole grilled onions.
