My sister gave me a groupon for the Shellac polish manicure for my birthday, and I went there this morning, hoping to treat myself. The place is clean and nice. The husband, must be Tam, was the one who did my nails. At first, he was very nice and friendly and easy to talk to. But then, two women came in for mani-pedis and he started to rush my manicure (so he could start theirs). He stopped talking and didn't really pay much attention to my cuticles. I had to ask him to push them back, and then he didn't cut the excess, which I had to do myself when I got home. Now it looks like I already have a week of growth because he didn't paint my nails where the cuticles were (obviously, he couldn't, but he could have if he'd taken care of the cuticles properly). The polish itself is well done, no bubbles or lint. Although, there was some left on my skin that he didn't wipe off. The ladies who came in seemed like regulars, and I can understand wanting to take care of people who come in regularly. But it doesn't seem very smart to do it at the expense of other customers, even if they are using a groupon and the owner isn't getting paid much. I might have come back if he'd done a better job and if I felt like a valued customer. FYI, I didn't know what Shellac was at first, so I looked it up. Apparently, to remove it, you have to go back to the salon and they're supposed to use wraps to soak the polish off. Some salons just use cotton balls and foil. This salon uses cotton balls and foil (they were removing the other ladies' Shellac polish as I left). read more

I've been to In style Nail Spa a few times. I found it through a Groupon when I was using Groupons to search for a quality place I could make my regular nail salon. It was clean, relaxing, and my pedicures looked nice and lasted. The older woman (perhaps grandmother of the little children there?) gives a great foot and calf massage. I love that I can make appointments online. Unfortunately, three times when I've needed a mani-pedi suddenly, they've been closed for days to weeks. Despite decent to good experiences, and trying to use this as my regular go-to salon, I am giving them only three stars for the following reasons: First, the wife is sweet and her pedicures held up well enough, but she isn't as thorough and careful as her husband or as I am used to and expect; and she also puts so little time and effort into the foot/calf/hand massages that I'm not sure why she bothers. Second, after my last appointment and a great foot/calf massage from the grandmother, I decided to treat my husband because he's never had a pedicure in his life and he loves foot massages too. I made his appointment and paid in advance, including a generous tip so he wouldn't have to do anything but show up. I told them who it was for and why. Mind you, despite not needing polish of any kind, it was the same price as if he were a woman getting the full deal and I included the tip (and I always tip more than is customary). Yet, when my husband arrived after work, only the wife was there with her small children. She was obviously tired and distracted by her children. She rushed through his pedicure and barely gave him a foot/calf massage at all. I believe she took advantage of him being a man and cheated him by giving him less quality service than she knew a woman would expect. In doing so, she cheated me too. I understand that she was pregnant and tired at the end of the day, and we love small children so we are happy to frequent family-owned businesses with the owners' children present. However, when we pay for a service, it is the responsibility of the owners/employees to provide consistent, high-quality service. If they can't because they are too tired, distracted by their children, rushed, or just have an inexperienced employee, then at the very least the customer deserves a discount. What is preferable, though, is that the customer receives what we made an appointment for - what we expect from previous service - so we don't have to be disappointed or follow-up at home or somewhere else to correct for a better result. My husband was entirely unimpressed and said he wished he'd just come straight home. "Everyone is human" doesn't cut it because our money matters to us just as much as the business owners' money matters to them, and we've invested time at their establishment as well. Third, it is frustrating to try to get in multiple times only to discover the business closed for an extended period. Lack of a reliable place to go has me searching for a new go-to salon as I write this! So, sorry Tan, only three stars. I am disappointed too. read more

I got the groupon for the shellac polish with the basic manicure. They were able to get me in right away. When I called And told them I had the groupon they didn't try to add any charges on top of that. They were very friendly and the nail salon was very clean. I love the shellac polish. It's holding up extremely well. He did a really good job painting my nails, no bubbles or lint like the previous review said... I'll definitely be coming back here for my nails for my wedding in two weeks. If theyregood enough for wedding nails, they've got to be good enough for a just any day of the week mani pedi, right? :) read more

I was not impressed. I had an appointment at 5pm and Tam did my nails. But, the whole time I felt that it was rushed and that they were trying to get me out the door. He seemed to be very distracted with his family. He also did a crappy job on my shellac manicure. Bottom line. Not impressed. read more

I bought a Groupon for this salon for Shellac nail treatment. When I arrived they told me that the groupon only covered the polish, not the manicure and asked if I wanted a manicure as well. I figured since they were the business they knew what was offered and I decided to have the manicure as well. Following the apt I looked more closely at the groupon and saw that it was supposed to cover a basic manicure with the Shellac nails. Since the whole thing only was 20 min I know they didn't upgrade me to the deluxe manicure, so they basically knowingly cheated me. This really frustrates me on principal. However, no only the fact that they have poor ethics, the polish I received was rough on the edges and had air bubbles and lint present within it. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. This place was awesome! A friend recommended that i go there for a shellac manicure, so i called and the woman was very polite and easy to understand, but she regretfully told me they did not have any open appointments for the rest of the day. She asked if i could come the next day and actually took my NAME and PHONE NUMBER for the appointment (a rarity for a nail salon), she then told me that if someone cancelled she would give me a call. Two hours later she actually called me back and was able to fit me in that day! Nail salons usually don't even respect appointment times and don't even take your name, so it's usually pointless to even make one. But it's worth it here! I arrived early and they were ready for me and there was no waiting. The woman did an amazing job and respected that i just wanted the polish and no manicure. Usually people get really pushy and try to sell you a manicure with the shellac, but nope! Not here! She even gave me a mini mani and cut my cuticles and filed my nails!!! It's pretty refreshing when you come across a place like this! I highly recommend it. read more
