Tried Nails Couture in the Tikahtnu area and overall it was a decent experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The salon is clean, organized, and the staff is friendly and efficient as I was a walk-in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My nails came out cute. That being said, my shellac ended up thicker than I requested, and every time the door opened, a gust of cold air hit--which made it a bit uncomfortable. Also, the nail tech was a bit heavy-handed during cuticle cleaning and dug in a little too deep. Still a solid spot for a quick mani/pedi, but a few small things could definitely make the experience better. read more

I have been a loyal customer at Nails Couture for over a decade. [[HIGHLIGHT]]With that being said, I had the worst experience with my nails this last weekend and despite my efforts to reach out to get a solution or at the very least an apology, I got ignored.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My daughter and I came in for pedicures and I got a manicure too. Pedicures were fine at best, my manicure though is atrocious at best. I wanted just a plain white tip French manicure set. Instead they added on an extra $20 to my $70 manicure because she decided to hand paint my tips on with gel paint; I didn't want any paint on my nails at all, hence the French tip. My nails are more than crooked, uneven, misshaped, cuticles not taken care of, paint already chipping on day two of even having them, The nails are already pulling up as the nail tech didn't fully glue the tips on, I had leftover super glue under my nails so bad I had to use a razor blade to scrape it off. I'm honestly SHOCKED this location gets 3.5 stars on Yelp. This has been my go to spot to get dip nail in Anchorage. They do an absolutely fabulous and meticulous job, taking time and attention to make things are done right and it lasts!! Not only that, all the employees here car about their customers and it shows. I wanted something Christmasy so did red sparkles and a snowflake and they knocked it out of the park! And they gave little dessert gifts to customers for the holidays! Love you all! The person who did my dip was very nice and professional but she ground the color down so thin it disappeared at the tips. There was even a color bald spot on my thumb. The chairs are badly in need of being replaced and, overall, the salon looked very tacky. Dip and mani were $70. read more

We went and got 3 pedicures yesterday, they were so amazing. I've never had a better experience getting a pedicure. I had a great conversation with the lady, she was asking me if I was doing ok, if I was hurting, how I liked my nails shaped. She was just incredible. The environment just felt so much more welcoming and inviting than the place I normally went. 100% will continue to come here for pedicures! read more

Tech did a poor job of doing my gel manicure, one of my nails looks a mess and my gel nail polish chipped less then 2 hours after getting them done. On top of that the tech said she could do the nail design I wanted and turns out she was not able to even closely do the design I requested. If you can not do a design just say so! Don't waste people's time drawing a blob!! I was there for 2 hours for a regular gel manicure! And I only had one color! read more

I was super excited to take my daughter to get her nails done for her very first time and I found this salon just up the road from us so, I thought I would try it out. They weren't able to do the original design that my daughter wanted and offered to try something similar by using these metallic looking stickers. I agreed because they had shown me a picture of what it was going to look like after being done. It looked nothing like the pictures they had shown me and Looked as if I went to the dollar store, got stickers, and had her little brother stick them to her fingers. My daughter was too afraid to speak up about anything because she is very young, So I mentioned to my nail tech that I would like to have her nails fixed because they looked horrible. They ended up removing the stickers and just painting her nails a solid color of her choice. When it was time to pay they charged me for every little thing including the crappy stickers they recommended and even ended up saying it was an up charge for the nude acrylic that the stylist used on her, even though nothing was made aware at the beginning about needing to use a nude acrylic of any sort or that there was any price difference to that. They had asked me if we wanted to use gel polish instead of regular and of course I said yes because anywhere else I have ever gone it's only a small difference to upgrade to gel polish. This was not the case here- as they charged me for a full gel set on top of her full acrylic set making it so that her nails came out to be about $100 when at first I was told the set would be 55$. Now I will talk about my personal experience with my nail tech. Anything that I didn't like she was quick to fix which was great ,she was really understanding but, she still couldn't get the shape or design correct after multiple attempts and she was very rough on my hands as I left there bleeding. The quality of the nails here are just trash. Here I am a week later and one of my nails just popped off while I was pushing a swiffer pad onto my swiffer. Which provoked me to write this review. All of my nails are starting to peel up at the base. And for spending $100 on my daughters gel nails, her nail polish started peeling the day we got home. Pretty bummed because the reviews here seemed pretty great and our experience was awful and not worth the 200$. Go anywhere else. read more

I went to get a fill yesterday and they came out horrible. My nail was not straight and I kept asking if she can fix it and she never did. She shaped them crooked and when I asked for French tips, one side was longer then the other. I haven't had them on for 24 hours and the bottom is lifting already and falling off!! Wouldn't recommend, not worth 75$ read more

Love the convenient location in the plaza. They weren't busy, so I was able to get a pedicure as a walk in. The gentlemen who did my pedicure was super efficient and friendly. Very nice people. I came in with an idea of painting every nail different on each hand bc I say a cute pic on Pinterest and my nail tech helped me all the way to find the best colors and was so nice. Great shape even tho I always have super short nails. Paint was great. Also got a pedicure. DELIGHTFUL. If I had to make any suggestions, I would say mabesome new pastel colors or just an upgrade on colors. But still found cute ones. read more

I came in on a walk-in for a basic manicure and pedicure. There were several colors to choose from (outside of gel colors), and I chose something very neutral when I couldn't find a familiar one. Pedicure was nice in regards to comfort, but I feel like more work could have been done in contouring my nails besides light filing. The same for my fingernail since I had expressed that I needed some cuticle work since my arm surgery was still preventing me from doing a good job at home. The color was nice, conversation was polite and engaging, but I feel like more could have been done the maintenance. I may still return again and see how it goes. Price was appropriate. read more

Nail Tech Vanna is very attentive & amazing. She didn't push anything additional on me in nail service. I don't like to talk much when getting nails done, it's MY relax time. Each time I come here I'm very satisfied with the service. I usually request Visa as my nail technician. She's very professional and proficient at her craft. She's personable and not overly chatty. I've had traditional nail polish and the gel polish services. Their bathroom is kept clean and tidy, which I find to be comforting. If you're looking for a nail salon without that chemical smell this is your place. read more

This place uses the same things on your feet the used on the person before you. I watched them lightly scrub the stuff with bubbly soap and a regular scrubby you use on your dishes at home. Other nail salons use brand new scrubbers for your feet. Actually take it out of the packaging in front of you. Not happening here. If you have 2 1/2 hours to kill just for your toes then go there. If you want to be forgotten and never get your mani cause they took 5 people in front of you then go there. My toes do look nice but I will not be going back. read more

absolutely do not go here. so over priced for no reason. i went & got a full set, was fine until i went home, 20 minutes into being home my thumb nail broke. then, i went back the next day to get it fixed. the nail looks worse than when i do my own nails. mind you that my nails in the first place were $75. go to amys nails & get better service for $30 cheaper. read more

She is thorough in there ability to perfectly clean up the cuticle and prep the nail for polish. My manicured last for 5 to 6 weeks now, something I never would thought possible. Leila is incredibly talented, she can do pretty much any design that one would desire and she's always coming up with new techniques to make your nails stand out. Leila is located inside of Lola's Salon, there is usually parking but sometimes another business in the strip mall seems to have an event going which clogs parking up. Leila maintains a clean and comfortable space with a soothing ambiance. She is polite and always on time. She always is just a genuinely nice person, you can tell that she loves her craft and she cares about her clients being happy. Leila also offers a loyalty punch card which is so cool. She is working towards becoming an educator for one of the polish brands, which I don't know anyone else that is going that route so I am impressed. I highly recommend Leila!

They have a lidded basket for your belongings and it's taken to your next room with you. I relaxed in one of the pedicure chairs drinking cucumber water while I waited for my facial. Rooms were changed out quickly and the aesthetician took me into her room. She did a great job, however was a little heavy handed a couple times and really spoke too quickly in the beginning, coming across as extremely rushed. As a medical aesthetician myself, it seemed a bit odd, since it didn't come across as calming, which is generally a goal. I kept my credentials to myself, because I personally like to see how services are provided and preformed when they don't know. When all was said and done, I was quite relaxed and we were both very happy with the experience overall. So much more than the local spa we went to last year... to the point that my friend didn't even remember where we went. I guess you know it's less than mediocre when you've blocked it from your memory. As I sat in the entry putting on my shoes, we wondered what they do with the slippers, hoping they're not put on the rack for someone else to wear... moments later a gal comes out with antibacterial wipes, wipes them clean and puts them away. Nice to know! We both agreed, we will definitely be back!

The front desk was very disorganized despite me having an appointment and kept telling me they were getting me in right away despite me making it clear I didn't mind waiting at all and I just requested to sit outside in the sun and gave them my number to call me when they're ACTUALLY ready for me instead of having me wait for 30+ minutes. Once I started having my nails done, I was told that I had to do a builder gel because my nails were too bendy, and I explained I wouldn't blame the technician at all if the results were compromised because of my bendy nails, and she insisted that she kind of had to do a builder gel. I was fine with that because she's the professional and I trust her :) despite not doing my research on builder gel beforehand and not expecting to pay the price increase coming into my appointment. Once I agreed on pricing and service choices, she told me she was giving me a good deal because she wasn't charging me for cutting my cuticles and filing the edges, and she would usually have to. Since when did salons start charging EXTRA for inherent parts of manicures? More so in bad taste of ownership. I didn't ask for reshaping of my nails, they didn't need to be cut (I wanted to keep my length), I just wanted a french tip and it was presented to me as if she was doing me a favor for doing parts of a manicure that are inherent parts of manicuring. Once she did the builder gel my nails were burning badly and I didn't complain once but she noticed I was having a hard time when my nails were in the UV lamp, and let me know it hurts everyone and I assumed it was my fault for having thinner nails at the time of the service but it would've been nice to know I could expect above average burning for a service I didn't ask for. Ive used the UV lights many times getting manicures sporadically over the course of the last 10 years but this was a new level of burn. I don't blame her at all, just think it was something to warn about since all the technicians seem to know what builder gel feels like to get done. Jennyfer was outstanding and I'm sure following the standard of nail salons nowadays: upsell, charge as much additionally as you can since clients will do it as they're already at their appointment and probably won't just get up and leave if they don't want to pay for out of the norm, unexpected add-ons presented as necessity. I understand that in Alaska, nail techs can charge whatever because the lack of competition and I know service prices are getting spendy everywhere, but I was yet again unimpressed by the seemingly sly way these salons are upselling during the service (industry standard it seems). Jennyfer did make my nails beautiful though and I'll now have to come back to pay for a fill or remove the gel which isn't something I was looking to do, but appreciated her artistry. I've never left such a long review before so I hope management will take this review in stride and as constructive and not get defensive with me in response

I don't get my nails done frequently because of several bad experiences. I didn't want anything…read morefancy or gel or acrylic nails, just a basic manicure and basic pedicure. They have decent prices for that- $35 for basic pedicure and $20 for basic manicure. You still get the massage chair, the lotions, the leg and hand massage and the same care as if you were getting a more spendy option. I was impressed. No cut up cuticles, no pain, friendly staff and I literally walked in and walked out in 45 mins (my son was waiting with me so I actually didn't have an extreme amount of time). They did both hands and feet at the same time which is totally fine with me. Overall, I'd come here again and I might make this a more regular thing.

Exactly a week later 6 nails had popped off. 7 days later 1 more nail popped off. When the nails popped off, I was not doing anything where they should have came off. Baffled. Easily the worst set of nails I have ever paid for. What a waste of $350 + $30 for tip. I have been here a handful of times now, & each time service gets worse. I don't live in Anchorage anymore, so only stop here due to convenience when I am in town, considering it's right now the road. We booked an appointment for 3 of us, a week in advance. We got there, they started two of us, & I sat in the chair for 30 minutes before they started on my feet, by this time the other two I was with were almost done. One of my biggest peeves is, when they start your manicure while they are doing your pedicure, so you're stretched. Part of the reason I get my toes does is for the relaxation. I had cut my finger nails & toe nails before I left because I like my nails square cut. Both ladies cut my nails again, making them so short that it hurt. The next three days my nails from my feet/hands are sore. Other two people are sore too. When I got home I noticed I had chunks of skin taken out, on my fingers & toes. The lady doing my fingers cut my cuticle with the drill, did not clean the drill, & spooned some stuff on it, not washing anything she touched my open wound with. & the shape of the nails is awful. They are all shaped so different. The paint job is just as bad, & you can see through to the other side of the nails when I'm outside. She did not get the acrylic even close on my thumb, so it looks like I have a week of growth. To say the least, I will no longer go to them for the convenience. We paid $350 for all of us, that's three pedicures, & one manicure. At the end, I didn't even want to correct the lady, as I had sat there from 1pm-4pm. Nails should not take that long. So now I'm stuck with these awful nails. Crazy how much we spend for what we got.

I'm bummed to have had this experience because they seem like really nice people, but customer service needs improvement.
