Our second time here. After the first time, we recommended coming here to s number of people and the ones who then came were so very glad to have had the experience here. What do you have is Chef Bob Waggoner who has been a recognized chef for 30+ years. An affable, friendly, humorous teacher of skills and cooking, who will answer your questions quickly and effectively. The food "we" prepared, obviously with a lot of help from Chef Bob, was delicious beyond belief. Bob of course chooses the menu and buys all of the ingredients for each one of the appetizers, of the main course, and the dessert. As you smell what you are cooking, it comes alive to your nose and to your other senses. After that you sit down and eat your appetizer and then go back to fix your main course and then of course the dessert later. I wish that my photos would give some idea of the tastiness of our meal. It is so difficult to explain the taste of a meal that you have created, although Chef Bob was quickly back and forth to each of the 6 stoves being used by 12 strangers, who by the end of the evening (2 1/2 hours!) were not strangers any longer. read more

This was the most amazing date night experience! Whether you're a lifelong foodie or just dipping your toes into the culinary world, you're sure to enjoy your evening with Chef Bob. I bought these tickets for my fiancé's birthday as a surprise. It's about $150 a person, which sounds expensive, but if you think about how much you'd spend at a restaurant for a meal of this quality, and then add in the experience you're getting with your partner, it's completely worth the price. Chef Bob is incredible. He has endless stories about his years working in kitchens all around the world ... and he shares them while he's explaining how to cook your meal. He didn't make anyone feel silly for not knowing how to do something, and instead focused on educating and elevating everyone in the class. The group itself was a decent size ... I believe there were 12 of us ... and every pair had their own stove and work station. Chef had already pre-prepared a few elements, but he left us plenty to do on our own, and explained the things he did work ahead on so we could replicate it on our own. I also loved the format of the class ... you prepare your appetizer quickly, then get to sit down and enjoy it for a moment before jumping back in to cook your entrée. Then, as you're finishing up the main course, you get started on the dessert, so that's ready for you to indulge in after you've finished eating your meal. The flavors and thoughtfulness behind the meals stand out. My fiancé still incorporates some of the techniques he learned from Chef Bob in our home cooking months later! If I could give 10 stars, I would without hesitation to this phenomenal evening spent with Chef Bob Waggoner. My children bought me this treat for Mother's Day and the three of us spent our evening with about eight others for this dining/cooking extravaganza. The kitchen has the finest equipment with about 8 to 10 burners and ovens. A beautiful dining, space, and a separate prep spot. We were greeted with champagne while the chef introduced himself and chatted with each couple/group before the evening got started. What a cool experience. I was a little nervous to say the least about cooking in front of him, but he guided us, sharing tips for making a better meal at home. We had fabulous wine pairings with each course. The whole evening was absolutely outstanding and I have to say a wonderful memorable gift for anyone who loves fine, dining, and good healthy food. I cannot believe I've lived in Charleston for so long and had never heard about this experience. I will definitely be spreading the word. The concept is just genius. What a great experience! My husband and I went for our anniversary and really had a great time. Chef Bob is so personable and tells great stories. He gives you tips on how to cook, but isn't Gordon Ramsay if you don't do it "his way." Food is fresh that day, so you won't know in advance what you are cooking, but when you make the reservation you can tell him about allergies, so that can be avoided. My fiancé and I took Bob Waggoner's cooking class for his birthday, and it was wonderful! We met some fun people, drank lots of wine, and learned how to create some delicious dishes. Chef Waggoner is very skilled and knows a lot about working in and around the kitchen. He has some great stories to tell about all of his travels and experiences with food and wine! We spent my wife's birthday with Bob and eight lovely guests. Bob, right out of the gate is personal and gets to know you. Several of the guests were repeaters; this is always a good sign. I got to take Chef Bob's cooking class last night and wow what a fantastic experience! My in-laws purchased a ticket for me for my birthday last year so it only took me 4 months to find the time (and an open spot) to go. I tried to convince my husband to go with me (I don't like going solo to anything...it makes my introverted self nervous) but he didn't want to spend money on the admittedly expensive ticket. So... alone I went. I ended up having a great time and it wasn't an issue that I didn't have a +1; if anything, it worked to my advantage (on the entree dish everyone else had to share a pan but I got my own). Chef Bob did a great job with setting the ambiance of the space- lots of natural light from the windows while it is still light out, the player grand piano played music, the beautiful table setting. It all created such an elegant yet still somehow a casual feel. I was pretty envious of the tableware- the china is GORG! And, he has specially made signature flatware. Pretty cool. The evening was a great opportunity to get ideas for a nice dinner with guests, maybe for Easter or some other special event. On to the food- upon arrival Chef had everything individually portioned out for us so that we really only did minor knife work like slicing the 1/4 onion or bell pepper strips. For each course, he walked us through the ingredients, sent us to the cooktops, walked us through cooking and then we got to sit down and enjoy the fruits of our labor. Each course came with a tasting of wine paired for the dish (as they called it in the reservation) which really ended up being a full glass of wine (yay!). Throughout, Chef was entertaining us with stories of his time in France, his tv shows, and his life as well as giving us practical knowledge like how to properly place food in a pan to avoid splattering yourself with hot oil, what his favorite cooking oil is, or how to make a great sauce for any meal. He didn't mind in the slightest that we were all photographing the evenings events, food, ingredients, etc. He does not provide recipe cards or a menu for the evening so if you want to remember what or how you made the food then snapping pictures is the easiest way to go about it. We had one attendee that had a nut allergy and Chef was prepared ahead of time to accomodate her allergy. There must have been a place to make a note to the chef in the reservation but I didn't notice it. Plan ahead!! The spots fill up quickly! Only 12 seats per class. read more

Amazing night!!! Highly recommend. I took my father here as a birthday gift (he loves to cook and try to tips/tricks in the kitchen) and was not disappointed. He high-fived/thanked me about a dozen times throughout the evening. Cooking with Chef Bob was a blast! Despite the fact that his class was sold out for the date we were requesting, he squeezed our group of four in and worked with dietary restrictions. Plenty of delicious wines are poured while the self playing grand piano provides the soundtrack. We made a delicious three course meal of scallops, filet, and puff pastry. The class was fun, interactive, and informative. It's so entertaining and involved that you don't even notice three hours go by. I highly recommend this class as a date night or a friends night out or even a solo date! Plenty of new friends to be made! The cost is an incredible value considering you're learning, cooking, eating a delicious meal, and drinking stellar wines. Scheduled a cooking class for the evening of Thanksgiving and the Saturday before, my father tested positive for COVID. He's an essential worker and requested a refund from Bob due to his positive test. Bob's staff did not issue him a refund but only a class credit. We were excited about this class but unfortunately with my fathers positive diagnosis and COVID getting worse across the country, a refund would have been more of an appropriate display of customer service and also would've shown a bit of sensitivity towards the issue. Strolling in Charleston on a girls' trip with my mom we happened upon Chef Bob Waggoner prepping for that night's cooking class. We chatted and instantly wanted to join his dinner party. Whenever we mentioned our plans for that evening to fellow travelers and natives we were met with great enthusiasm and high praise. We were not disappointed to say the least. I'm not going to repeat what the first reviewer said because I agree with them 100%. The setting is everyone's dream kitchen and dining room but with enough cooking and prep space for you and all of your friends. I couldn't believe the quality of everything from the beautiful Limoges plates to the La Creuset cookware to the Wolf ovens. Don't go here if you have jealousy issues. Aside from the setting and the yummy food and drink, there's Bob. He is such a great host. We had a group of 12 girls there for a bachelorette weekend and even had a Karaoke DJ set up shop for the last two hours of our night/end of the four course meal. Naturally, I would've expected a chef with such a beautiful place to be hesitant of this sort of debauchery, but he played along and made us feel welcomed and comfortable. He even did the first karaoke song/duet to "I Got You Babe" with the bachelorette and it was priceless. I can confidently say as a local to Charleston, this is the most fun I have ever had at a dinner in the city. Not to mention, the food was amazing. My face actually hurt from smiling so hard the entire time. You may think the price is steep when booking but it is far from it! We had around five glasses of wine each, two entrees each, and two desserts. There is no five star restaurant in Charleston that you can get this much food and four hours of entertainment like this. This experience was such a blast! I had never taken a cooking class before and was walking by the storefront while in Charleston for work one day. I called and Chef Bob was able to squeeze me in that night. It was awesome. I learned so many little tips and tricks for my own cooking, as well some great recipes. We started with prosciutto stuffed with goat cheese and pecans, sunflower sprouts with sherry vinegar and pecan oil. Second course was seared scallops with tomatoes, capers, shallots, fennel in a wine butter sauce, vermouth - paired with a French chardonnay. Main dish was seared duck in a Marsala and Pinot noir reduction sauce - paired with a French Bordeaux. But what made it the most fun was hearing Chef Bob's stories from Nashville to France to South America...and also hanging out with the others in the group, who had been strangers just a few minutes before. I love Charleston and so many of their restaurants as I visit often, but if you are looking to do something different and still experience the best of Charleston's food scene, this is a must-try option! read more

You are welcomed into a gorgeous space with a grand piano and subtle music, there is a beautiful lounge area and a large kitchen with wolf ovens and cooking stations for all attending. You eat as you cook and can make up to 5 courses. Once you're done cooking your appetizer and something is cooking in the oven, Chef Bob has everything perfectly times so that you can enjoy one delicious course as the other cooks. He is so patient, relaxed, and will make this an enjoyable experience for all. There is amazing wine, champagne, and he only uses the best ingredients. I never knew I could make such amazing food. My wife and I had the best meal out in a long time. Fortunately we got to cook it ourselves with four other couples. The problem is it makes eating out anywhere else pale in comparison. In 39 years of marriage this is the third meal my wife prepared. She did great. The atmosphere is the first plus you notice. The host is the second. Bob created an inviting comfortable space in which to cook and dine and drink. The evening flew by as each course was paired with a complementary wine, including dessert. Upon completing each course, everyone brings their dish to a large dining table and sits down to enjoy, while Chef Bob transitions into a waiter and serves wine.
