Came for their $25 all you can eat tacos! Pretty good deal. We ate SO MUCH. Had about 4 tacos each + quesadillas + a huge torta. They have a little toppings staring with onion, cilantro, pickled onion, lime, and sauces. I liked the green sauce (kinda like avocado). The red sauce was a bit spicy. Go early because the line gets longer throughout the night.

We were seated quickly on Saturday afternoon. Waitress wasn't great with English so it was hard to get answers to our questions. The spinach dip with chips was superb. We even had chips left after eating all the dip, how often does that happen? The steak salad was done perfectly. Would have been nice to have a side plate to cut the meat but we figured it out. The El Gordito Pizza had a great crust and very tasty sauce, just right amount of ingredients. Held up nicely when picked up. Soft drink selection was ok. Really liked the brewery list for beers but come on, know which beer it is from each brewery. How many Hazy IPA does Ghost Town make or West Coast IPA does Original Pattern brew? Asked the waitress to check the keg and she came back and said it was an India Pale Ale. Slap my head! Overall, a very solid experience.

I wanted to like this place more than I did. The atmosphere is genuinely nice, the service was friendly, and the food itself looked great and tasted good. My chilaquiles were solid, and while the mole wasn't my favorite style, it had a good kick and was clearly well made. The issue for me is the price. I ended up paying over $30 for an appetizer, chilaquiles, and water, and that just didn't feel like a good value for what I got. This street has a lot of excellent options, including some true five-star spots at similar prices and others that are just better priced for everyday meals. When I'm spending that much for brunch-level food, I expect something that really knocks it out of the park, and this didn't quite get there. Nothing was bad. It was a pleasant experience. I just don't see myself going back given the cost and the competition nearby. If price isn't a concern, you might enjoy it more than I did. For me, it's a solid but expensive meal in a neighborhood with a lot of strong alternatives.

Honestly, the food was okay. I had ordered 3 things, an omelette, salmon tacos, and a steak salad. The best was the steak salad. It was my first time and the service was okay. We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took quite long for the food to come out though I understood that there was only one chef working at the time. We did not feel the most welcomed and weren't really checked on.

Showed up looking for a new place to try out, ended up eating dinner here. Friendly staff, interesting selection of beers, great sangria we loved it. The wings were amazing, Mac and cheese was unique. Quite delicious. The calamari was cool. They have enough screens, but it is casual enough since not everyone is there for the sports. Definitely recommend 5/5

Everything about our visit here was great! The service was so good. We had the sweetest waitress who knew her menu! I can always appreciate that about a waitress. It's like know your craft! And boy did she know it! The place was pretty empty but it totally strikes me as the type of place that packed in the evenings not at 2:00 in the afternoon! So we were actually happy to have the place to ourselves. We had wings and the chicken sandwich and all of it... I do mean all of it was so good! I was starving and forgot to take pics of the food so my apologies but just know it's good! Give them a try for yourself! Cute vibes! Cute spot! 10 out of 10!

The Wife and I stopped in here after a movie, feeling indecisive. Fortunately, this was the right choice, since they have a nice varied menu for a gastro pub. The Warriors were playing (and winning) over the bar, so it was a happy atmosphere. The service was fast and friendly. The Wife ordered a wood fired margarita pizza, while I had a beyond burger. Both were great, especially the pizza. She only got through half - we could have easily shared it. It's a narrow space on College Ave, but opens up nicely once you step inside. Which I recommend you do.

Was shopping in Berkeley this afternoon and looking for a good lunch place. Checked Yelp for a restaurant, and In the Wood Bar & Grill had a 4.0 and was right across the street. We ate on the patio, which was pretty noisy at first but soon quieted down as the tables emptied. There was no wait for a table at 1 pm on a Saturday. I had the salmon tacos, hold the jalapeños and mango, and it was wonderful. The salmon was grilled to perfection and topped with cabbage and avocado slices. It was listed as a small plate, but I could barely finish it. My sister had the In the Wood burger, which was huge and had smoked Gouda and bacon and caramelized onion jam on it. She said it was very good. I stole a few of her fries and they were delicious. Service was excellent. Highly recommend In the Wood.

Great food and good service! The pizza was great, and the lamb burger was excellent! I also tried my friend's summer veggie pizza, and it was amazing! They also had all you can eat tacos on the patio, but we didn't realize until it was too late! I'll definitely be back for them though!

Doing its job as a Gastropub. The brews had the place smelling good. The self serve water... not knocking that it's obviously tap, or appears that way. These bottles aren't that expensive. And there's Amazon. Replace the caps... and talk to that server that worked 6.28.25 between 6p and 7p. he touched every surface that's supposed to touch a mouth. From silverware to the tops of cups. He bussed tables and never changed his gloves. Speaking of tables. He should make sure he's keeping the wedges in place under the tables. It wobbled none stop. The Shroom was a complete fail. There were barely any mushrooms to call it a mushroom pizza. I was hoping for at least two variations of shroom. But I feel like I was met with room temp poorly salted canned grade mushroom. Some good onion and a premature sauce. If you know pizza, you know sauce. And they cooked theirs that morning. The toppings slid off like a mudslide and the pizza was strait mush almost to the crust. The Instagram ad and what I got was crazy insane. Taking Kid Cudi Day and Night. The Benito. Excellent. But, the peaches didn't looked fresh. Maybe don't let these sit without juice. A few more chunks of chicken and less arugula. How ever nod to the arugula it absolutely pulled each element together. I fully recommend for drinks. The Elmwood Sour was amazing. Be a kid for a second and get some poor sips through that cinnamon stick. Elevated the drink to a whole new height when sick through that bark. My goodness!!!! So delicious until my wife knocked it out the cup.

I came here for a catch up lunch with a friend, while I was visiting from Los Angeles. This is the part of Berkeley where parking can be really tough, and prepare to pay, as it's only metered parking. The restaurant itself is dark on the inside and the service was decent. There weren't many folks when I arrived but it was pretty full when we left. The food itself was surprisingly good with great portions. I had enough left to take home for dinner. I thought the prices were solid for the portion size. All in all, it's a good lunch choice, if you're in the area.

I'd heard a bit about In The Wood and stopped in for lunch with a friend. At 12:00 pm on a weekday, it took more than a moment to be seated. There was only one other table with guests, so the experience was starting to go down hill. The menu is uninspired with pizza, salads with protein options, and sandwiches. As Stephanie Y reviewed, pricy for what is offered. My guest and I both ordered the Fish Tacos. You get two each with an option of fish or shrimp. Plus $3 for an additional taco. My fish was good and I had a shrimp too. No bad, yet not outstanding. A green salsa that had little kick. Not really sure what it was. The bill for two came to $30 with two teas. I put out $40 in cash. It's just me, but I really don't care for it when I'm asked if I needed change back. I tip at least 20% or more at most places. Sorry, I wasn't leaving the server a $10. Lost another star. A three star review all the way around. I hindsight, we should have went to La Mediterranean next door. read more

Stopped by this evening with my daughter as she's moving in around the corner. Greeted and seated right away by Greg who was very friendly and attentive. We decided to try the shrimp po boy and the steak salad with a side of grilled asparagus- OMG! The best of each ever!!! The owner Richard was kind enough to stop by and see how we were doing and I had to let him know how great it was--he was overjoyed as well. You could tell when someone including staff really cares about the food and experience. We'll be back for sure- gotta try the beers next time! Update- I feel horrible as I'm editing my review. I was writing my review as soon as I finished my fabulous meal and I pressed my tip app to mindlessly calculate the tip for me. I mist have mistakenly entered 10% as I just noticed what I recorded! Picked our UC Berkeley grandson and had a nice experience here. We opted for brunch and it didn't disappoint. I'm a picky foodie and the cubed potatoes and the mushroom omelet were delicious! We'll come back and try other lunch menu items. read more

Got the salmon sandwich, fries, vegan burger, tiramisu all to go. Couldn't recommend it enough! They have a menu that would cater to anyone's preference :) I'm a giant tiramisu fan, this is winning toward the top for me as it has chocolate sauce on top as well! read more

Just got food from this place. I ordered bbq wings, garlic fries ,cod fish and chips and a flourless dark chocolate cake. The portions for the wings and garlic fries were good. Liked the garlic fries and loved the mini cup flourless chocolate cake . My cod fish and chips were flavorless ,cold and soggy which was on top of some rustic fries. Maybe next time try putting the fish on some parchment paper so that both the fish and fries don't get soggy. So I wasn't happy with that. For the money I spent it was not worth it. I wished the flourless chocolate cake was a little bit bigger. This was my first time here and from the reviews I took a chance getting my food here. But I don't think I'll be returning because of the experience I had. read more

Amazing restaurant!! The food was amazing, service was fast, and the environment was welcoming and spacious. I came with a large group of people and they were extremely accommodating, the food came fast and was vey fresh, and the owner even came up and introduced himself. Their patio is perfect place to spend a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Went here for a group event so I was able to sample quite a few of their dishes. They were all outstanding. The El Nando pizza was fantastic all along with the fries and steak salad. There are a number of salmon dishes on the menu and they are all outstanding. Our server was attentive and pleasant and Richard the owner is a welcoming. read more

This place is great. The BBQ pork ribs are organic and most likely humanely raised and insanely good. Didn't even need any extra sauce and the half rack was huge. Cooked perfectly, better than most BBQ joints. The sides were very good too. So worth $21. read more

We hadn't planned to eat here, but were waylaid on the way to Southie. Lovely outdoor seating in the passage next to the restaurant is what convinced us. We shared the kale salad with salmon atop and the house burger. Salad was great, though the burger was a little pink for medium rare. Service was attentive and they checked on us outside seaters often enough. Rotating Gilman draft was great, and they have a solid selection of others on tap. read more

I got the Margarita pizza here and it was amazing. The cheese was good quality that you could taste! Sauces were light and delightful. Great spot on College. Amazing service even when they are busy. Indoor and outdoor seating and parking in the rear. Plenty of good food choices (shrimp skewers were outstanding !). They also have a lot of beers on tap and several wine choices. Highly recommend you give them a try. read more

The food has great potential but man everything was overcooked big time! The two steak frites plates were supposed to be medium well and it was burnt! The chicken skewers were burn too. Even the fish and chips and pizza was! I'd come back if it's cooked right. Spent well over $100 and was kind of disappointed! read more

Yeah the food was simply not very good here. I got fish and chips and both were undercooked (the fries were basically still just chopped potatoes). Also they have something called "wine cocktails", where the liquor is replaced with wine. I got a Moscow Mule not realizing and it genuinely was horrible. The service was solid enough though. To top it all off they had a "f*** Joe Biden" (Let's Go Brandon) sticker in the window. Can't imagine ever going there again both because of the food and the politics. read more

Good lighting. Friendly waiting staff. Quick service. Delicious food. My friend and I came in today for a late Easter Sunday lunch and ordered The Travesty pizza, some rustic garlic fries, a beer, and a mimosa. If anything, it was a wonderful first time experience. The only thing that caught us off guard was that we came in with the intention of getting the happy hour deal for the pizza and beer, but ended up getting charged regular prices. Something to note for anyone who wants to get that deal -- you have to order a specific pizza and the house beer! The happy hour sign is a little misleading, so make sure to clarify with your server that it is what you are getting, or else you'll be in for a shock when you're charged more than what you expected. read more

I took my girlfriend here couple of times, very cute place to go on dates. Located in a very convenient place with lots of parking. Baja tacos and Salmon tacos were bussin. Service is always on point, I think (Simone) helped us with our order and she always does a great job!! read more

Food is good. Service is good. Don't order delivery as evidenced by photos below but the food is good in person. Would give it four stars but the sticker in the window is an annoying thing to pass by constantly. Everyone is allowed a political stance but the sticker is an eye sore. read more

This is a reason to eat out. Seriously. My husband and I don't dine out much because we are excellent cooks. We were attending an event at Mrs. Dalloway's bookshop one evening, and wanted to make "a night of it" (and also arrive early for parking) by eating nearby. In The Wood is just a couple doors down. It's a luminous neighborhood place with rustic art and a gastropub menu of food that is prepared to perfection with sublime flavor profiles and the freshest of ingredients. We're Italian, and their's is some of the best pizza we've had, including in Italy. We enjoyed $2 off well beers because we arrive during Happy Hour, and Megan (the hostess and, well, person who seemed to do it all) was friendly, hospitable and helpful. She was not phoning it in. We enjoyed it so much that I just made a reservation for 6 people to take our friends there for their joint birthday in a few weeks. In The Wood is, simply put, a gem--and a good value, to boot! read more

Saw this place while passing by after work. Very friendly waiters, sat us down right away by the window, awesome seats. For starters we've selected Ceviche and delicious Meatballs. I ordered the Flat Iron Steak, the presentation was beautiful and the portion was to par. My partner had the Cornish Hen, looks deliciously prepared. As she cut into the meat, it started to bleed, so she returned it. Environment was clean and welcoming. The light music playing was not overwhelming like some other restaurants, we can actually hear our conversation without having to yell. Overall, it was good experience, considering this place has been opened only 3 months. read more

I don't like giving bad reviews to small businesses unless something egregious goes wrong. Cold, uncooked food qualifies, imo. I sent my burger back after the middle of the patty was refrigerator-cold. After "steaming" it, the middle was still ice cold. Worse, no apology. They don't seem to care. There are plenty of other places that do. read more

Wow wow wowwww First visit, decided to drop in since I was nearby and hungry. A friend and I attended for a quick lunch and was not disappointed! We ordered the Mac and cheese added bacon ( $10) Garlic fries -- which were sooooo yummy! ( I'm not a huge fan of fries , but these, I could not resist! ) Everything was packed with flavor. Decent portion sizes. If you're coming for lunch, you could absolutely share the Mac and cheese with a friend. Great wine selection. If you're a wino like me, just get the bottle; it's totally affordable ( bottles start at $28! Not bad right ?) Will be back! To our server John, thanks sooo much! read more

There are a lot of great food places in Berkeley, but this one truly deserves five stars. There is a parking lot behind In The Wood, but it was full when we came here, but there street parking a block away. The service was decently fast. The main selling point of this place is the quality of the food. They have a lot of great choices. I ordered a scallops dish that came with a blueberry sauce. How creative! It was delicious. Their dessert options were just OK but there's a great ice cream place just down the street. read more

The food is very good here, from the burgers to the entrees to the pizza to the brunch. What takes this place down a good amount is the wait staff. They are inattentive in every way. It takes too long for them to acknowledge you at the door, they are too slow to get you coffee and drinks, they don't return to take your meal order in good time. I have a gotten a dirty mug, cold coffee and no condiments at times. I come back for the food and to support the owner. This place could be great but for the serving crew. read more

Great service! Great food! Our group was greeted at the door by the wonderful owner. Our group had the Mac n cheese, bacon cheese burger, side of green beans, and the Baja fish tacos. Server was attentive and nice :) Photo of the Mac n cheese was after it was dug into. Couldn't wait to eat it. Nice place, good vibe, great for groups and family. We didn't have the pizza or salads, but saw some going to other tables. Looked amazing! read more

Really didn't want to have to write this review......We always loved this place- good food, good staff, good price. Today it was none of those unfortunately. Me, my husband and my daughter were out for the night and wanted to get some dinner (as one does) and my husband ordered the fish and chips, it was overcooked. When he bit into it, it shattered into flakes! My daughter ordered the Mac and cheese. The menu said a 3 cheese béchamel mac with bread crumbs and bacon, there was barely any cheese sauce and no bread crumbs. We inquired if this is how the Mac and cheese is supposed to be served and the staff said they didn't know, that not a lot of people order it. We also didn't get assigned a server, we didn't know who was actually our server and had to wait for 15 minutes before someone even acknowledged us. Plates weren't cleared, our drink order wasn't asked to be refilled as staff walked by us not looking in our direction. Sadly we left a smaller tip- sorry! A first visit based on a chance encounter with and recommendation by someone familiar with In The Wood. For early dinner, I had the delicious grilled salmon salad and my friend had the grilled steak salad. Both plates were generous; flavorful salad dressing(s). Mediocre food. Also, left a pair of prescription sunglasses on my table by accident. When I called the next day and day after to ask about them, the staff were unhelpful. Said they weren't found. My guess is they were either thrown away (but why??) or taken by someone. Would not go back. read more

I'd love to give this place a higher review but I was sadly disappointed and unsatisfied with the $20 pizza I got. Granted, I did get the gluten free crust (extra $2) which with most pizza places is thin crust (not a problem) but the toppings were extremely sparse in comparison to the photo advertised online. Reminded me of a Pinterest fail. On top of that the pizza was close to flavorless. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend or order again. We ordered two dishes for pickup for a picnic. Instead of calling us for changes, the restaurant cancelled one of our dishes. That means that only one of us had a meal. When I asked about this, they said " We would call but we're just so busy. " To top it off, our food was also missing napkins and utensils. Out order was not correct , when asked to corrected it we were met with opposition. The calamari was lacked any real flavor -- something I could have easily made better at home. I'm not usually a fan of pizza, but this place had some really innovative and tasty personal ones! Since they're special personal pizzas, they do take a while to come, but they're definitely worth it! The staff was friendly and once when our order got messed up, they were great about fixing it immediately, though it took a while since the cooking time is long. I really enjoy In The Wood and I go once a week for lunch. The service is always great and the waitress I see most often when I go is Anna. She is very personable and friendly. She always remembers my order. The environment is calm and I feel good when I go inside. The food tastes great and the staff double checks to make sure i'm satisfied with it.
