Nowadays, the thrill seems to be gone. I walked into New Balance, Garden City NY, I got half way in the store and it was quiet. No greeting, no, how can I help you today, or what kind of tennis shoe/ sneakers are you interested in. It's more like you're here for a reason and you're not going anywhere else. After I spoke first to the young sales rep and asked for the men sneakers and the wife with liye weight sneaker, he indulged me. Going forward, after I choose the type I was interested in, the rep brought the sneakers over, took the sneakers out of the box and left me alone to engage in conversation with his coworkers. Presentation not only matters with food, it matters in all things. The sneakers he brought over, laces were on a unattractive pattern. I'm not nitpicking, just noticing the difference in the present and the past. I'm all about paying a pretty penny for comfort. When I used to run half marathons, I tried to skimp on a pair of running shoes and long story short, after a 5 mile run, the next day, my feet hurt so bad, I could hardly walk, no more $65 imitation of NEW BALANCE. So I chose a two pair $199 and $94. I would say that the value I received was pretty fair for the type show I needed. I need one for physical therapy and one for every other day use. Of course after the weather clears up. In conclusion, there are improvements needed but time has changed and those changes may never come back. Not for nothing, a little bit more of working one on one with the customers when there's 4 customers in the store and 4 sales reps on the floor. Inspire more, yelp more!

We had a wonderful experience at Stride Rite in Sayville!…read more I've been wanting to make a trip out here to get my daughter her first pair of supportive shoes and I know Stride Rite is the best. There are only 2 Stride Rites left on LI - Sayville and Selden so we made the drive from Farmingdale on a Saturday afternoon to get my daughter's shoes. Cathy greeted us and quickly assisted us with help. I voiced to her that it was our first shopping experience for shoes and she measured my daughter's feet to ensure proper fitting. She was kind, patient and worked with my daughter as she just woke up from her nap and was very unsure of the pantyhose and new shoes. She let he pick out which one she wanted to try and let us take our time as she practiced walking in the store. The shoes are definitely worth the price! I am so glad I went to the store rather than buying it online. It is super crucial to make sure that my daughter has a great supportive shoe when starting out to walk. Highly recommend this store! Even if you're not close, it's worth making a trip out there on the weekends! Also check their Facebook page for coupons!

I was looking for a few outfits for my wife to give as a Christmas present. I had the pleasure of working with a sales associate named Gabby Herrera. Gabby took the time to listen what I was looking for and helped me select a few different outfits. Even though the store was very busy with it being a week before Christmas she took the time to call other Michael Kors stores found me all the items I was looking for ahnd had them shipped to me in time for Christmas and did it all with a smile. J&M is conveniently located in the Roosevelt Field Mall which is just a 10 minute drive for me. The store is large enough to have a great inventory and not that large that you can't maneuver through. It is bright and clean and easy to peruse the inventory. You simply pick out what you like and there are usually one or two people to get your size, make alternative suggestions and help you through the checkout process. I've never visited a Johnston & Murphy before. Actually, I don't think I really knew they had…read moreactual shops---and I had no idea they carried women's clothes! My wonderful boyfriend is currently on a shoe kick so he asked me to come in to take a look at a beautiful pair of deep, dark brown suede boots with the toe and heel scuffed (the current trend---I don't know why the heck they had to scuff 'em! Makes them look used!), retailing at $200. The store is nicely decorated with that old money, Upper East Side vibe--on one side is women's and on the other, men's. Red suede chairs allow you to sit and try on shoes. But the store isn't solely shoes---they do have clothes for both sexes, not to mention some very nice accessories. And while Johnston & Murphy seems to be for those who work in the financial services area (and almost on par with Cole Haan's merchandise), there were a few more funky pieces---the boots my boyfriend was eyeing, as well as a red patent leather handbag. We sat and waited a good while for someone to help us with shoes. There were 2 or 3 other customers and only one salesperson. I thought perhaps this was a symptom of the economy---stores cutting back on staff. So we sat and waited until the salesperson, Gus, could help us. In between helping another customer, he asked for the shoe size needed, and brought us one--I said ONE--shoe to try on. Um, who buys shoes by trying on ONE? Well the one didn't fit. So we waited to get his attention and asked for a different size. Again, we were given ONE shoe to try on. Is this some kind of trick to get us to buy---again, economy related? Gus was now running around the store, ringing up customers, answering others' questions. I sat there and thought, "Okay. He's busy. He's the only one here. (I see one is a common theme.) We'll just wait." Well, this was a mistake. As if we hadn't had enough nonsense, Gus now gives us his full attention. He measures my boyfriend's foot---and since my boyfriend's a drummer, he has foot issues and usually gets his shoes a size bigger to accomodate. Aggressively, Gus starts going on about how he's sold shoes for 28 years and how my boyfriend doesn't need a size bigger; he needs a wide. Since we know which size is too small and too big, Gus says to buy the shoe the size in between from him today without trying it on because its out of stock--they have it in wide, but not in store. He'll order it for us and have it shipped to us and if we don't like it, we can return it to the store. "If you don't like it, I'll take the blame," he said. Dear reader, this went on for about 5 minutes straight with him telling us to buy it from him today. Absolutely ridiculous! I even offered that since we had to come back next week "to pick up a frame I was having engraved" (wink, wink), if he got the shoe in, we would come in and try it on! But as I mentioned earlier, this incident was economy related. :/ When we left, my boyfriend got on his iPhone, checked the Johnston & Murphy website and called their locations for the shoe in a wide in his size. Turns out the shoe DOESN'T COME IN A WIDE!!! Now I don't want to call anyone a liar, but if you go in and see a guy named Gus, don't say I didn't warn ya! Store is accessible, but around the clothes, it's a bit tight. I'm giving the store 3 stars based on quality and product. Minus 2 stars for Gus and the nonsense!
