Yummy sushi! The tempura is very unique! Staff super friendly and helpful with suggestions of what to try!

The good: The restaurant was clean, and the presentation of the food was very classy. The not-so-good: The prices are as high or higher than all the other sushi establishments in the Flathead Valley (around $15-20 per roll, especially for dinner). However, the portion sizes are noticeably smaller. The taste also just doesn't pack a punch for authenticity (I've stayed in Japan twice and had Japanese families live with me), nor does it compete with some of the newer creative approaches to sushi. The softshell crab in one of our rolls was quite overcooked. Our waitress never came to check on us until after the meal was over for drink refills or to see if we needed anything. Also, one of the restrooms featured erotic artwork that we found to be untasteful, unprofessional, and inappropriate for minors. If you are in Whitefish specifically, the Wasabi restaurant will be a little bit better for authentic Japanese, and the Italian restaurant nextdoor is even better. If you are in the Flathead Valley, Saketome in Bigfork is the best option for sushi (better taste, lower prices, bigger portions, more creative), as well as Kobe in Kalispell. Would I eat here again? Maybe if someone else was paying. But I won't spend my money here again--especially not until they take the erotic pictures off of the bathroom walls. read more

We were seated in the corner of a half-empty restaurant. After 45 minutes, the watered down miso soup arrived. Edamame seemed to be covered with sauce from Albertsons. It's been 50 minutes and waiting for 3rd appetizer. Fingers crossed that the fish is better than the service/ food thus far. It is more probable that my 401K will have matured and I will but a lot closer to retirement by the time we leave. I suspect that there are more than 2 reasons for the conspicuously empty tables. ***update. After what felt like the time to Armageddon, the "food" arrived (sans appetizer). We have eaten a lot of sushi - from gas station/grocery store to on-the-coast-famous-chef sushi, including almost every resort town in the Mountain West. I have not ever been this disappointed. One roll contained somewhat cooked (not seared), limp fishy fish covered with what looked like old pickles. Other roll supposed to be covered with strawberry sauce - again, suspect grocery storemade it a week ago. The tempura was drenched in old grease. Avocado components of rolls were brown. I believe a reconstituted dehydrated sushi roll from an MRE in 5 years would taste fresher than what we had tonight. Though we were ravenous, we couldn't be forced to eat it all. I would take a happy meal, a lunchable, even a pickled egg at the bottom of the barrel at a Cenex before eating at this place again. read more

Pretty amazing Japanese fusion restaurant. Had some really fresh rolls, a poke bowl, a soup and a salad.

Food was good. Service was slow. There was one server for 11 tables (no bussers or hosts), and he had all but one table sat. He was doing it all! I'm assuming that isn't the norm, but for a Saturday night, you think the manager or owner would come in to help if they are short-staffed or if someone called in. Drinks went dry, and reminders were needed, but I can't blame the guy! Sushi came out within a reasonable length of time (there were two sushi chefs). Hot food from the kitchen took a while (also two cooks in the kitchen). It turned in to a very long dinner because there was a lot of waiting (2+ hours). Atmosphere was nice at least. read more

My friend and I wandered into Indah somewhat by accident one day when our first choice for dinner was closed. I'm very happy that we did, because it instantly became a favorite of ours, and a tradition for us when I come to visit. To describe the food as delicious would do it a disservice: every roll they offer is made with a unique and unabashedly deliberate set of ingredients. The folks in the kitchen clearly know how to layer fascinating and captivating flavors, notably a roll which features goat cheese, blackberry, and lemon flavors. The service is nothing short of excellent and the staff is both amiable and familiar with their dishes. I really get the feeling that this restaurant is the result of passion and love. Weirdest sushi place I've ever eaten. Nigiri was all good and exactly what you'd expect, but almost everything else had odd ingredients--things you would not expect to find in sushi. Rolls had pears, blackberries and what the heck is "love sauce"? Ummmm, no thanks. Might want to find a new name for that condiment. Miso soup had cabbage and other unusual (not in a good way) ingredients. We ordered a roll and it was candy-sweet but topped with salmon and roe. Just not a good combination of flavors. Their sickly sweet motif of the rolls was not working for us. Service was painfully slow. I've eaten sushi at incredible restaurants across the country (Nobu, Matsuhisa, Umi....) and this is unlike any of those. read more

I have traveled quite a bit and do Sushi often in different cities. This place was special! The curry soup was amazing to start. We had three different specialty sushi rolls and each had a unique flavor with my favorite having smoked trout. You can tell the food is prepared with years of experience but more importantly with heart and soul. My highlight was meeting and talking with co owner (Stacy) and hearing a little bit of her story. Waited for 2+ hours with the staff telling us it was a 35 minute wait. Returned twice for our reservation and they told us at 8:45PM that we could not be serviced tonight. Very lame and won't be coming back because (I'm a local) the sushi isn't good anyway. Hats off to the chefs who are decent for their originality on the menu but it's not worth it at all. 100% love food and know that this place is not worth the money. Bye, not coming back. We ordered four big rolls to go but were disappointed that we were only given two tiny packets of soy sauce. Overall the sushi was okay but would have been much better if we would have had a lot more soy sauce. We didn't end up finishing it because two of the rolls were rather bland. Got there at 1pm on a Saturday places our drink orders an age dashi tofu and black cod sashimi order telling them we would order more. We got our drinks but the waitress didn't take the rest of our order. We asked and she said that she would be back in a minute but never returned. At 145 she brought out our tofu and admitted that they put the wrong sauce on it and would make a new one. We decided to not order more but decided to stay and just hang out and enjoy the time. We ordered more at 155 and didn't get our good until 240. I got the check at 3 and looked over the order - we got charged double on one of our sushi rolls. I got the check corrected and left. Food was really mediocre at best and really not a good value at all for how much you pay for it - sitting for 2 hours to eat a meal paying $20-30 per person is not acceptable. read more

I was skeptical of ordering sushi in Montana, but thought I'd give it a try. The rolls were inventive and nicely constructed, but the quality of fish wasn't the best. The big problem for me was that there was a sign on the door that required masks, which I was happy to see, but NONE of the staff preparing our food was wearing masks! Front of the house staff all had masks on-bartenders and servers. But the kitchen is open and we could see that nobody preparing food was wearing them. So first of all, if you are the kind of server that takes orders based on memory, please please be sure to get it right and not forget items. Ordered a side salad for myself, and 3 rolls to share with my husband. The rolls arrived beautifully arranged on a nice wooden platter and decor. Was surprised that my salad never arrived, but decided to give her the option to get it to me. Was surprised that we were not provided a small plate to eat from, but had to eat from the wooden platter itself. So after dipping the roll into the soy sauce dish, we had to figure out how to get the roll to our mouth without dripping onto the table. Not possible. I had to use my one and only napkin to clean the drips from the table, which I wasn't going to then use in my mouth. Perhaps I should have asked for a plate, and asked for additional napkins, but these are very basic items that a restaurant should provide their customers with. My salad finally did arrive, but our meals were finished by then. The flavor of the food was good, but did take over 20 minutes to get. We will try them again in case they had an off day. read more

We are locals in the valley, and always looking forward to new offerings in the area. We were very excited about the concept of fresh oysters on the half shell specially offered on the third weekend of every month and made a reservation a week in advance per recommendation on their IG page. Should have known when it took a day and a half for someone to return the message I left during normal business hours to confirm the reservation there might be issues. We made it about five minutes late, but had to flag down a server who told us to sit anywhere we liked, and didn't even ask if we had a reservation. Two servers on the floor, two sushi rollers behind the bar, and about 12 people in the dining room, and we had to wait 20 minutes for place settings, menus and water. After about 10 minutes and asking for a wine list, we placed our order only to have the server leave the table before we could order a bottle of chilled sake. Orders of wakame, edamame and oyster shooters as apps, and a full dozen oysters on the half shell. Ten minutes later, apps show up without the shooters, and going to the front counter to place our own order of sake. Wakame was ok but bland, edamame was tasty. Halfway through the apps the oysters showed up on a very ungainly deep square platter that took up our entire two top table. We had to put our apps to the side to make room while still working on them. No explanation of which oysters were which, and had to ask a second server to tell us about them. Very small ramekins of very mediocre sauce, and shell fragments throughout. Oysters themselves were fresh and reasonably tasty, but at $36 severely overpriced especially for shoddy shucking. Only after everything else was eaten did the shooters show up. Maybe odd coursing choice or straight forgotten until the end. Again, basically tasty but shell fragments in both shooters. Another ten minutes after table clear the bill showed up in a frantic rush. End analysis: amateur service and food preparation, fresh oysters but overpriced, and best part of the meal was the bottle of sake we could have got at any bottle shop. Giving two stars because we didn't get sick from the shellfish and the apps were passable. read more

We are from out of town (like many) and were so happy we waited for a spot even though we had no reservation on a holiday weekend. It's obvious they are suffering from being shorthanded like everyone else and we feel it only makes sense to be sensitive to that. And oh, boy the food!! We followed the good recommendations from our server Jeff and were truly blown away! So fresh, so original and soooooo good!!
