I heard about Inday on TV, and wanted to try it. I stumbled across the Broadway location a couple of months ago and fell in love with the Macro bowl with added Salmon. It is my Go-To, feel good, eat good meal! The inside is a cute place to take a break and enjoy your meal. And the staff is super friendly. I had a sore throat and asked for more hot water for my tea, fully expecting to pay for it. I offered to pay or give a tip, and the gentleman said "for what? I just heated some water". Tried it after seeing all the stellar reviews. Went in at 12:30 pm which is peak lunch hour. They have 6 different kinds of bowls you can choose from, so I ordered the lamb, which they were out of. I had to settle for the charred chicken. The food was alright, nothing out of the ordinary. It also was kind of cold which is a turn off for a $15 bowl (i got extra chicken). Service was not too great. When i paid for my meal the cashier seemed annoyed, and I had to ask twice for my receipt. When I asked for a bag I was curtly pointed to a batch of small brown bags in front of the cash register that could barely hold my bowl. So it is like carrying your bowl around peak lunch hour back to your office building. I might try this again but as of now it was not great but good enough to satisfy my hunger. read more

This is what fast casual restaurants should aspire to be. It's a chipotle-style ordering system where you can customize your own Indian-inspired bowl, though there are some pre-selected options also. They have a ton of fresh and healthy ingredients to choose from, not to mention the price point is more than reasonable. For less than $10, I had a cauliflower rice bowl with sliced lemon chicken thigh topped with crispy shallots and tahini and hot sauce. It was a wonderful combination of flavors and textures - plus it was pretty low calorie thanks to the fact that they have cauliflower rice as a "starch" option. If you love your veggies ( which I do) I highly recommend this place! I got the lentils which are Seasoned mung beans , rice cauliflower, charred broccoli, chicken , cabbage and the radishes with hummus and crunchy shallots. The portions are pretty big ( so much mung beans) and the seasonings are good. I found the bean to be a little salty but I'm salt sensitive so it might have been me. Chicken was juicy and I loved the broccoli. Wished they had Brussels as well. Every came out to be $14 which is not bad for the amount of food. This place is always on my list of places to go when I am in New York. The best way I can describe Inday is Indian-inspired bowls. It is definitely the place if you are looking for fresh flavors, but also want a casual setting. Whenever I go, I always get the cauliflower rice and the winter squash (if they have it). The charcoal eggplant, coconut chutney, and the pickled onions are always a winner, along with the salmon. Everything in the bowl is delicious, although I find that, if you mix everything together, the flavors can get a little muted. If you find the food is not spicy enough for you, you can also grab some of their unique hot sauce, made in house. Oh and I almost forgot... you have to try the avocado chocolate pudding. It might sound a little weird, but it tastes as though you are eating straight chocolate ganache. I've wanted to try this place for a while but was always skeptical by the idea of healthy Indian fusion food. Ended up loving it! The interior is really cute, much nicer than places like chipotle (no harsh lighting and ugly counters) although the build your own bowl concept is the same. Their combo bowls have a great mix between flavors and textures. Each one has a theme with ingredients that are supposed to help rebuild and rebalance your body. You can also opt to build your own, which is what I did. I find that most healthy food places aren't actually that healthy (high sodium and unhealthy sauces) so I try to cut down wherever I can. I believe bowls are around $10. The server was also very informative when I was inquiring about the nutrition for each of the bases, toppings etc. I'm used to eating heavy Indian food with thick sauces but this place has really nice garnishes that actually feel refreshing and are easy to digest. read more

Yummy indian fast casual. I created my own bowl but was indecisive over chicken and lamb. The guy let me sample them and while they were both tasty and moist, I decided on lamb in the end. My whole bowl consisted of cauli rice, sweet potatoes, chickpeas, lamb (+4), pickled egg, garlic hummus and veggie chips. It was around $14 and super filling! It could have easily made 2 meals but what can I say, I guess I'm a fatty lol. My favorite part was the hummus, as it was really garlicky. But don't say I didn't warn you- probably not the best thing to have before a first date. I was curious about the karma cup as well since it's their take on kithari/kitchdi, but it was essentially quinoa with the chickpeas and veggies on top with garlic hummus. Many people described Inday as an Indian Sweetgreen and that's pretty much accurate. The space is beautiful and in the evening when they dim the lights it is a great place to catch up with a friend. Or, come for a healthy lunch but be ready to wrestle long lunch lines for your zen yoga bowl! There must be a soul cycle or flywheel nearby because in 45 minutes there I saw a parade of lulu lemon bedecked women coming in for post workout meals. They have a nice range of menu items, ranging from more authentic (dosas) to just vaguely Indian (cauliflower not-rice spiced with turmeric and cumin). I was surprised they only had 2 vegetarian protein choices but I was able to fill up my bowl with delicious vegetarian sides. The proteins looked great for the record, especially the salmon! Will try it next time. The not-rice is surprisingly tasty and if I didn't concentrate too hard on it I didn't even miss the carbs. But they also have an inviting vat of basmati rice right next to it. The pickled veggies are delicious and a nice sprinkle of puffed rice or lentil crisps finished of my bowl perfectly. At $10 it's fairly in line with other similar places. But the problem is they haven't named their items which makes it very difficult to decide what you want in your bowl. For the price the amount of protein is very very less. I got the curry tofu and lemon chicken and my husband got curry chicken. Curry tofu and curry chicken barely had any curry flavor to it. Overall I was not impressed by the food. It has steadily become a lunch fave for the masses through no carb portions and so goes the guilt free consciences for the protein obsessed and the league of vegans. This place is for real. Fast casual is the format and a love of veggies is a must. The choices are all gluten free, organic, vegan and cost $8: Not Rice (pulverized cauliflower / brussel sprout "rice"), Grain (red quinoa, orange lentil, spinach), Rice (brown jasmine rice + wild tamarind rice), Salad (kale, baby spinach, brussel sprouts), Not Salad (cabbage slaw, lentils, shreds of coconut). All are tasty, but the Salad and "Not Rice" have proven to be the clear favorites. For another $3-$4.50, one can add chicken, steak, turkey, salmon, and smoked tofu to the bowl and each protein has its own unique spice flavor profile. Then the toppings portion can be anything from diced cucumbers to corn and a variety of chilled chutneys. The result is a beautiful medley of colors and textures that would delight anyone's healthy palate; an instagram ready bowl prepared in a matter of minutes. The contemporary decor reminds me more of a coffee shop than a lunch destination. Open space with a minimalist theme, the vibe could swing from chic to hipster depending on the crowd. Solo diners and take out folks are the norm and the staff is usually quite zen with the service. I can feel that Inday was trying to replicate the way a lot of healthy spots were doing - build up your owl bowl, healthy base and various side options, and I actually liked the fact that they have something other than quinoa as the substitute for regular rice - the cauliflower/Brussel sprout mix; however I simply did not quite enjoy my self-built chicken bowl. Felt like the chicken meat was very bland and the hot sauce just didn't carry any flavor other than spicy. Sure I felt healthily stuffed after finishing up my bowl, just not satisfactory. Was it because I have chosen the wrong protein? Shall I try salmon or beef instead of chicken? Or was it because many sides were sold out by the time I got there? After a class at Beebe's Buttcamp across the street which totally kicked my ass, I decided to finally try the infamous Inday - a place I've heard so much about, but hadn't had the time to make my way over to the ever-growing NoMad foodie scene to try it out. Seriously though, I moved a year ago from nearby and the food scene in NoMad has seriously blown up. After briefly surveying the menu, I decided to build my own bowl. I went with the "not rice" cauliflower, which was literally the most flavorful and delicious rice substitute EVER. Goodbye quinoa - I might have to start making this caulfilower "rice" with Indian spices at home by myself. Love love loved the texture and the flavor. For my protein, I chose chicken - which I wish was more white/breast meat than the more tender (and fattening) dark thigh meat. For my sides (choose 2 with the DIY bowl), I got the bok choy, which was fresh, but rather tasteless, and the lentil sprouts, which were equally as tasteless. However, added to the other ingredients in my bowl, I was glad that they were there as a vegetable versus the boring green lettuce or carrots or something. For my garnishes (you get to choose 2), I chose the pineapple chutney, which really just tasted like sliced pineapple, but that's okay because I LOVE ripe pineapple and it complemented the meal very well with an added sweetness.... as well as the pickled chilies, which weren't really as spicy as they looked and reminded me of the red chilies at Mighty Quinn's. What I love about Inday was the fact that I saw that they literally make everything fresh in their kitchen. I watched someone painstakingly slice the red chilies in the back... I hope he didn't touch his eyes afterwards. The only downside to Inday is that it can cost you a pretty penny. My chicken bowl came out to about $12 after taxes. I suppose you do get a good bang for your buck as I'm still full hours later... unlike a $12 salad which will have you rummaging your bag for junk food 30 minutes later. If you are looking for heavy, greasy and overly spiced Indian food, this is not the restaurant for you. My absolute favorite new restaurant in New York, Inday's food is absolutely delicious. Everything I have eaten (the five times I have gone since opening day) has been extremely flavorful. While the cauliflower rice is a satisfying (low carb) base, I adore the cool bowls. The Emerald and the Rainbow are my favorite. The Rainbow, which is in my opinion a culinary innovation, is a salad I have craved every day since having it the first time. The proteins are delicious, almost all of which I have tried. Each protein is spiced with traditional flavors, which distinguish Inday from being just another health conscious restaurant, and speak to the Indian influence. And while there are no heavy sauces, Inday does not let the fact that the food is healthy compromise their flavor. The Chutneys and dressings deserve their own mention. The Green and Coconut chutneys are both spicy and sweet at the same time, which is a welcomed addition on the top of every bowl. And the dressings are the perfect amount of sweet, which add depth to the raw, tart, vegetable salads. My favorite part about Inday, is you leave feeling full and satisfied, never sick or heavy. I've been wanting to visit Inday for a while now, mostly because I was so intrigued by the dosa waffle idea. Finally had a chance to go for lunch yesterday, here are my thoughts: Ambiance - Nicely decorated. Open and airy. Service - As with most Chipotle-style restaurants I felt very rushed by the staff behind the counter, especially when I found out I couldn't order the dosa waffle until 3pm (It was 2 pm). I apologized in advance of my order, telling the staff member that it was my first time. It didn't help though as I still felt rushed. Food - Overall everything I had was below average. The rice was super dry and very spicy (strange). I wish the chickpeas weren't floating in such a strange coconut sauce (not sure how Indian that is). The quinoa was the best thing I had but I finished that in about 2 bites. Complimentary toppings were SPARINGLY added, and that's being polite. Price - I paid $8 for a very average, very small bowl of Indian food. Any proteins would have been extra and I just couldn't justify paying more for farmed salmon. Overall this may be a good place for traditional chicken and meat lovers but I won't be returning unless the dosa is offered at a normal lunchtime hour. read more

My new favorite lunch spot in Flatiron! Fresh and not greasy Indian meal and I am pretty impressive on how they have developed the menus. Just one thing I don't like is it is pretty expensive compare to other places like this. But I wouldn't mind paying $13 for this refreshing dish :) Not rice was my favorite and I really liked it with beef more than chicken (chicken was way too salty, just salty). The pickled carrot was also my favorite with their homemade hot sauce. Salmon was okay too but I am not a big fan of salmon so I will just go with beef or something else.
