Dr Payson is a brilliant and empathetic doctor who was genuinely invested in working through the nuances of our treatment plan at every step to maximize our chances of success, always available to answer questions and talk through data and research studies at our request, and paid close attention to our case throughout (including after we had graduated) to ensure we received excellent care. The nurses are kind, knowledgeable, and responsive - I had a lot of questions, especially after unsuccessful prior cycles, and Jen could not have been more helpful in talking through questions, getting us on the phone with the doctor as frequently as needed, as well as facilitating billing and the administrative side. Mark the phlebotomist is amazing (through many procedures, no one has been as dexterous in navigating my small veins), as are the rest of the nurses and staff. After a year of being treated like a number in a baby factory at the big box fertility clinic, we decided to take a break. We were defeated, discouraged, and unsure whether we would continue in our attempts to have a child. The next year a good family friend who is also an out of state OBGYN suggested Dr Moragianni. We were able to schedule with her fairly quickly and our consultation left us feeling a renewed sense of hope! She actually listened to everything we had to say and explained things to us that we didn't know even after a year of treatment elsewhere. After our first round of bloodwork to get starred, Dr Moragianni identified an irregularity with my thyroid that had been grossly overlooked at the other clinic. She continued to monitor and work with us as I sorted out the thyroid issue with an endocrinologist. During this time we found that my ovaries were often not visible making it nearly impossible to determine egg count and quality. Based on the examination experience, I believe this was also the case at the previous clinic, only they blindly treated me without explaining the situation and therefore the treatment was continuously unsuccessful. Dr Moragianni on the other hand very clearly explained everything, presented us with options, and offered her best advice. She did not encourage us in any way to proceed with a path that was likely to be a dead end. One thing she offered and I was unaware of was egg donation. Ultimately, this made the most sense for our situation, and now we have a beautiful baby boy that I carried to full term. Thanks to Dr Moragianni, my underlying health issue was resolved (I had parathyroid surgery), my time and money were not wasted, and I was treated like the top priority patient at every visit! I remember telling Dr. Okasi to please use the small speculum before the exam. She nodded yes but said nothing verbally. As soon as the speculum was opened, I let out such a scream! I'm sure people in the waiting room and other parts of the office heard me, especially since this office has walls that don't connect to the ceiling (open concept). At no time did she comfort me, nothing like "breathe. Take a deep breath" or "are you ok? It's almost over". Nothing at all! I truly suspect she used the large speculum. Maybe she didn't like being told what to use. All I know is I've never yelled liked that in any of my previous examinations with other MDs. I was so embarrassed to the point that I apologized after the exam. And I shouldn't have, thinking back. Why did I apologize for pain inflicted upon me? That's why I wanted the smaller speculum! After getting in my car, I said to myself I'm never coming back here. Dr. Okasi's bedside manner was so so poor, to say the least. And the staff is not memorable. Believe what your patients tell you. We know our bodies more than you do. And if something doesn't make sense, then ask us questions for clarification.
