It's so sad that this place is going downhill. We ordered two orders of samosas (appetizer) but once our food came and we still didn't have them , we asked where they were, he looked as if he had forgotten them and then said "five more minutes", so we got them when we were almost done with our food. We asked for hot sauce three times before we got that -and then we were charged for it ! As you can see by the check, we ordered quite a bit of food for two adults and a child. So we had plenty of leftovers. I was mortified to see that they charged us for to go boxes! Were we supposed to leave our food and waste it? we have been here so many times, and just gradually see a downward spiral. Sad. Meh. That sums up the food, the service, and the overall experience we've had. My partner and I have tried this place a few times now, and both times we've had the same lackluster and frustrating experience. The food is okay. I have tried the Aloo Ghobi and the Daal Makhani, while my boyfriend got the butter chicken and Tikka Masala. The overall flavors of the dishes we've tried have always a few dominant spices, not balance, and overall not appetizing. The heat level, is the only thing they seem to get right. My boyfriend also got a mango lassi and it was very thin and on ice. The only time mango lassi is served with ice is if the establishment is cheap or they have no clue what they're doing. The service, simply put, is horrible. Each time we have been there, we weren't greeted, no smiles seen whatsoever, and snarky condescending servers have been prominent. The staff act as working there is the last place on earth they want to be. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Love the curry dishes. Lamb or Chicken Nirvana level 3 is my favorite. You just can't go wrong with either. And the garlic cheese naan bread is the perfect side to sop up the sauce. Service is fast, responsive, and kind. A great find in Post Falls of all places. read more

I ordered the shahi paneer (since paneer is my favorite) and my husband got chicken tikka malasa. We shared the rice (comes with it) and butter naan. All good, all around! We are thrilled this family has opened a restaurant in the area. We've enjoyed their original restaurant in Wenatchee, and Karma in Moscow ID as well. India House is just as delicious as the others. The big thing that sticks out to me is they don't try to make the food to fit the American palate. The flavors of all the spices are very prevalent. My daughter and I did the basics, butter chicken and chicken tikka masala, and they were delicious of course. In trying a new Indian restaurant, my hubby always goes for the mixed grill, and judging by his "don't expect me to talk to you while I'm eating" face, you can be sure he loved every bite. First off, I am no expert in Indian fare. My rating is not a comparison of other Indian food but my impression based on the overall restaurant experience. The place is located within a less than impressive strip mall. They did a nice job on the inside with what they had to work with . I was there for an early lunch so there was no customer pressure. I was served by the owner who seemed like a nice fella and served us well. The service was lighting fast. The menu was extensive. They serve beer and hard liquor. :) Yes, I had a beer. I ordered the Nirvana (chicken coconut curry) level 3 hotness. Friend had chicken mango curry, level one hotness. We also ordered nan bread with garlic. I loved the Nirvana. Friend also liked the Nirvana better. We both also liked the Mango dish as well. The garlic Nan bread was I interesting. Was good alone or sopping up the dishes. Both dishes came with a small bowl some type of white rice. NOTE on Spice. I had the level three spice on the coconut dish. I like things spicy. 3 was just under the sweat meter reading and barely reached the sniffle zone. I MAY do four next time. They added red bell and Serrano peppers to mine. Friend does not enjoy spicy but mentioned she would probably do 2, with the sweetness of the mango. Bottom line, as my first real Indian curry food experience, we both felt it was a great restaurant and worth patronizing again. I will be back soon. I only have one real knock, if you can call it that. I am a fairly big eater. The portion of the dishes was fairly small. That compared to the price, does not make this place a huge value. With that said, my small friend thought the portion control was prefect. Go to this place. It is the best rated Indian food in the area (including CDA and Spokane Valley) for a reason. I have spoken. I like that they season the outside with a touch of salt. Chicken nirvana is my kind of dish...I can't handle anything too spicy and this was perfect. Some of the best gobhi aloo I've had.
