Love coming here for Indian food. They could be short staff and busy at times but nothing bad. I've been here more than 3'times already. And the food quality seems to always be good. The garlic naan keeps me coming back. And butter chicken. The ambience is nice they have a big bar area if you dine solo. Visiting family in Sandpoint, they recommended we go to The Mango Tree for dinner. The service and food were excellent. I had the Palak Paneer and it was the best I ever had. Our waiter was extremely attentive, making sure additional naan was served when needed and our water glasses were always filled, etc. There were 10 of us, we all had something different, and everyone was happy with what they ordered. I had a hankering for some Indian food the other day, and headed over to this local spot. First impressions: waiter dressed in a dirty t-shirt and jeans rushing around the place, singing to himself, despite merely 4 parties present; crumbs on the table and bench seatwhere I was seated; loud family in the corner. Ambience was sketchy, to say the least. Food and drink: while the chicken tikka masala was tasty, the garlic naan was not too garlicky. My glass of Pinot Grigio was cloudy and a bit sour, served in a smudged glass. All the Indian entree dishes were $21 or thereabouts, and it was not possible to order a veggie side dish without incurring an additional $21 charge. Service was scattered and I felt that the server was not too attentive. I will NOT eat at this establishment again, tbh. read more

We finally got a chance to try out the Mango Tree. It was some of the best Indian food I have ever had. We had garlic Nan bread of course. We also had vindaloo with beef and tiki masala with chicken. Outstanding!!! The server knew everything about the menu and was super helpful in guiding us through it. The place was very clean. I'll start by saying the service was great. The food was a bit on the pricey side considering the size of the portions. Roti is very bland but the garlic nan was fine. Mango chicken was not that great for me. The rice that came with the dish was cold and again the portions were smaller than expected. Meal for 5 and only 1 drink everyone else had water=$145.00. This is probably the best Indian food in North Idaho. I say probably in case there's another Indian place I don't know about in North Idaho. I only know of two. Of the two, Mango Tree has the best food. Never been to India, but the area we came from had a very big Indian population and there were copious Indian restaurants. Mango Tree matches some of the best of those. They have a great lunch special with plenty of food. We like Monday and Wednesday lunch specials. Don't remember the names of the dishes. The only thing hit or miss is the service. Sometime we wait for a while in front to be seated where no one pays attention to us despite it not being busy. Other times the sever feels rushed, and sometimes they will get the order wrong. But then sometimes we get great service. We also wish the mango lassi was larger in size. It is yummy though. Despite the spotty service, we keep coming back as it is really delicious food. The best Indian food in Northern Idaho. read more

Loved the food here. Curry bowls are flavorful and plenty. There's also a full bar! The mango curry bowl was a bit too sweet for my taste but the lamb tikka masala one was outstanding. This gem of the CDA food industry is hidden behind a car wash at the corner of Ramsey and Kathleen. Walking through the front door, the very first thing you will notice is the AMAZING smell. The second thing you will probably notice is how busy it is...or rather isn't, which is a SHAME. My wife and our two kids went here for dinner on a Monday evening. When we walked in, the dining room had maybe 4 tables going? And it's a fairly large space. The size is reminiscent of a large Mexican restaurant with plenty of dining space, a large bar area as well as a nice patio space. It took a couple minutes to get seated because there was only one server/hostess for the entire dining room and she's was hustling. Once we were seated, she quickly took our drink orders and brought us waters. We had to wait about 20 minutes for the food once we ordered but...wow...it was totally worth it. Our table was COVERED in mango rice, coconut rice, tiki Marsala, coconut chicken (both spicy and not), a mango fish curry dish, and three different types of Nan bread: butter, garlic and jalapeño & cheese. When I tell you that absolutely everything on our table was delicious, I can't over-sell that. My wife and I both did a brief "happy dance" when we took our first bites, and if you knew my wife, you'd know thats something she doesn't do. Bottom line is stop looking for your new favorite restaurant, because you found it. Go here! read more

So I just wanted to leave a disclaimer that we've had Indian food all over the world and it is usually our favorite food. Overall, the food was not excellent. There was a way too much sugar in the butter chicken and the chicken was very tough. The beef kebabs were so dried out, it was as if they had refried them over several days, there was no moisture in them at all. The salad greens were somewhat wilted. The vegetables in the vegetable dish we ordered were completely overcooked and soggy , only it was kind of a mix and match like some of them were soggy, and some of them weren't, as if they mixed the old batch with the new? It was just not appealing to us and not fresh at all. They served some whole wheat naan without asking if we wanted whole wheat. Their regular Naan was very good very fresh and flavorful. But the whole wheat naan tasted like cardboard. Their sauces are excellent and tasted very fresh, so that was nice. But we are very picky about what we eat and we will unfortunately not be back to this Indian restaurant that we were very much looking forward to having a meal at based upon the reviews. read more

And when you make a pakora, just take the vegetables and dip them in the besan batter and deep fry them. Don't make them into disgusting undercooked hush puppies. I've ordered take-out from Mango Tree, and recently ate in. Here's my opinion of this local spot. Eating in was an interesting experience. It's set up like a diner, the bar was closed. It felt a little deserted, there were just a few other people there. The hostess was very cheery and our server was kind and prompt. She provided us with the tap list -- a literal hand written crumpled piece of paper she had been carrying around with her. Our food arrived quickly, everything together. We were given a stack of scratched up, melamine plates. Bon apetit. The samosa was by far the best tasting item we ordered. Not amazing, but pretty good. It comes with chutney and tamarind sauce. Both pretty good. The Dahl was ok, the garlic naan was soggy (pan fried maybe?) and doughy, my husbands burger (yes, this Indian restaurant sells burgers) was ok. The green side salad had lemon with maybe masala spices on it too? It was intense, not particularly enjoyable to eat. The Mango Tree is for sure a one of a kind establishment. Is it really Indian food? Kind of. But they also offer burgers and wraps. Oh, and the naanchos are more like chana masala pizza. So heads up there. read more

Unfortunately we will not be going back to Mango Tree. The food was ok. The problem was that the last couple of times we ate there, there were flies everywhere. Couldn't really eat as we had to keep flies from landing on our food. We told our waitress. She simply told us that the cooks keep the kitchen door open so she couldn't do anything about the flies. What a great date night place! My husband and I shared the chicken tikka masala (came with both rice AND naan, upgraded to butter naan $1) and it was the perfect amount!
