We stopped by here for a Sunday buffet around 2pm and the place had few people. There was no one to take us in or show the seats. We walked in and they asked us to sit anywhere. The name says buffet but there was only about 8 items. We tried the naan and it was not freshly made. Generally they make it fresh and bring to the table but it was just made and kept here. The lamb curry had a distinct smell and we could eat it. The tandoori chicken was dry and tasteless, so was the rice. Only the chicken and chick pea curry were a little alright. Otherwise we hardly had anything here. One of the most atrocious places we have visited. Best to avoid this place. Such a shear waste of money and food. It costed us $47 for 4 people and I would have rather had Anywhere else. Avoid this place for your own good. read more

If you are looking for Indian food that isn't overly spicy but tastes homemade, this place is a great choice. The management are lovely people even if the service is a bit slow and disorganized. We brought friends who had never had Indian food and they already want to return, so this restaurant is clearly doing something right. We had the buffet. It's not huge, but they offer a great variety, especially if you know to open the refrigerator section, which is covered. Also, the chai was outstanding, which is a big thing for me. I would suggest that they need somebody younger in the dining room to bus tables and to make sure that everything needed is available. I found myself clearing out used plates and searching for small bowls and spoons. Still, for all those little faults, we are definitely putting this place on our go-to list. read more

I have been eating here for years! Love the owner! Kind of an upgraded hole in the wall. Clean, old school. Most people eat the buffet for lunch and today was a lunch visit. The lunch buffet is good! The food is decent, ambiance is lovely. Not too much distraction. I was in awe with the projection. However, I felt a bit uneasy with the lady who might be the owner there. She kept glaring at me for some reason. A can of soda for $1.99? No thank you. The saag was delicious though! The samosa was soggy unfortunately. It didn't have a crispy exterior like the ones at other places. The naan was perfect in my opinion. I will note this though, when a customer is still eating, please don't take their plate away because you want them to leave. My friends was still eating the lady came up and took our plates away because it was close to closing. I understand that you need time to prep for the dinner rush and cleaning and stuff however, we were almost done and our plates were practically snatched away. The price is iffy. Pretty expensive for the options you get. Inflation affects almost every single business, so I understand. I tried Gandhi Cuisine of India and it's better! Cheaper and you practically get the same stuff. And they don't take plates from you, they will give you a heads up that they have to close soon. (Free refills for soda and nobody is staring at you.) I've been to India Oven quite a few times over the years, and it's a solid, consistently good choice. I typically start with veggie samosas; who can resist those little pockets of fried happiness? For the entrees, I personally think that their vegetarian dishes are strong across the board, all just slightly better than the meat dishes. My favorite is the vegetable korma, though I'm also a fan of the aloo matar, channa masala, and Malai kofta. Unfortunately, rice does not come automatically with your entrees -- you have to order it separately. I really like their Kashmiri rice: basmati rice with sauteed onions, raisins, and cashews. They also have both naan and roti, of which my favorite is the garlic naan. Generally, I prefer to do takeout from here. They have the food ready quite quickly, and it's almost always enough to enjoy leftovers for a second meal. read more

Delicious indian! To start our meal we had pappadaum with mint chutney, tamarind chutney and a spicy red sauce. Crisp and delicious! We split garlic naan, chicken Tikka masala ( hot) and Sarah paneer ( medium) spice levels were perfect and the sauces were delicious. My husband especially liked the naan, it was fluffy, puffy, chewy and crisp....so good! I'm vegan and I've tried several of their vegan options, Aloo Matar and Vegetable Korma are by far the best ones. Their samosas are amazing, as well. If you're looking for great vegan Indian food with fast and friendly service, this is the place! My husband and I met our sister there for lunch. There were lots of cars parked in front of the business so we thought... it has to be good! When we got inside, we were greeted quickly by a very nice lady who took us to a table right away. The restaurant was clean and the tables were not on top each other which was nice to be able to talk and visit with our sister who we haven't seen in awhile. The server asked us if we wanted to eat from the buffet (I think that's what most people were doing) so we asked her if the buffet had any vegan options. She immediately called the owner who came to our table and took the time to suggest some dishes from the menu, explain how she makes a few of them and take our order herself. She was very friendly. She doesn't cook with ghee at all (that's a start!). She cooks only white basmati rice because she cooked brown rice at some point in the past and people didn't eat it. She made for us plain roti bread without any oil. We knew we were in good hands with her. We ordered the aloo gobi and aloo chana masala. It didn't take long to get our food. Both meals were very delicious, the servings were very generous and they were exactly what we were expecting. We don't like super spicy food so we ordered medium heat. Next time we'll order it a little spicier. Our sister liked her lamb meal too. We highly recommend this restaurant especially if you have a dietary restriction. Had the chance to get some take out from a new Indian joint. It isn't necessarily new but has been here in Tucson for over 20 years. The main Indian food place I go to was closed so Indian Oven came through. The portions were great and the lamb tikka masala was really good. The garlic nan was really good too. Lunch buffet is always my style. If you are vegan and strict, best to avoid Indian food altogether as most dishes involve at least some cream or ghee. Otherwise Indian food is a vegetarians paradise. India oven offers amazing samosas and a variety of sauces. Their service is so sweet, I love the family vibe. I always bring cash to pay and support the business. Mine and my husband's favorite Indian food in Tucson. We've tried a few items and the flavor never disappoints but our favorites are the shrimp korma, chicken makhani, mix biryani, and a double order of garlic naan. The flavors are strong but not too spicy, the curry texture is creamy and comforting, the naan always tastes fresh and warm. The chicken is always tender and juicy and never too dry. This has become our favorite comfort food. I often order it through Postmates and settle on the couch with India oven and a good movie. Highly recommend. read more

It ended up being LAMB meat and I accidentally ate it. She apologized later but thats such a huge mess up!! She didnt care to offer any discount or make up for it, but in stead she charged us gratuity without even mentioning it on the bill!!! When I arrived I ordered the Mixed Grill Platter which came with Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Tikka, Boti Kebab (lamb), Sheekh Kebab, Shrimp, Naan, Basmati Rice, Tikka Masala Sauce, Mint Chutney, Red Sauce, and Black Sauce. The price was roughly around $15 after tax which was a steal in my opinion. Everything tasted very good, except for the Boti Kebab which seemed to be slightly overcooked. When I first moved to Tucson, I had a few things on my immediate to-do list, one of which included finding an Indian restaurant I could call my favorite. After eating my way around several local places, I found myself walking into India Oven, and I've been going there ever since! The inside is pretty large, so you never have to worry about the stress of finding a seat, but it does get pretty popping on weekends, so plan accordingly! The decor is bright and colorful, and the table linens make it feel refined, yet still comfortable. My favorite time to go is during the lunch buffet (11am-2:45pm), because the options rotate, so you get to try several different things, all of which are absolutely always delicious, and the environment is casual and relaxed. I always order a hot tea with my meal, because I'm a hot beverage kind of gal, and a mango lassi for the kid (which I usually drink half of because YUM). Another reason I love coming here is the family friendly atmosphere. A lot if times dining out with my two year old can give me a serious case of mom-anxiety, but it's never a problem here. Not only does she love the food, but I never feel awkward about her being a messy eater, and there is often another kid her age hanging out for her to play with, which is absolutely fantastic. Good Indian Food in Cave Like Setting: Don't expect anything lavish in this bare bones, Indian restaurant which has a dull interior. The waiters are composed of children and they aren't very experienced, often stumbling with the plates and hot dishes. The food itself is bland at times and most of it is prepared sloppily, being sent to the table either too cold or burnt to a crisp. Lack of courtesy on behalf of the wait staff include not filling up water or drinks, not bringing spices, not inquiring about the dinner, or getting upset over the bill, orders, etc, etc. But do avoid the spoiled reviews who expect to taste Indian food like from New York or San Francisco, this is Tucson, at least it's here pals and it beats the stale crap found at CrapDonalds. That said, I still enjoy it just because it is Indian cuisine and it beats anything put out by the bland corporates. That is a good reason to visit them, I love unique places. One of my all time favorites. I love the buffet because they have so many delicious vegetarian options and meat dishes. The vegetable samosa are fried and wonderfully crisp, I love the aloo Gobi. The saag has great flavor and creamy consistency. The Tikka Masala is so good! Everything I've had at this restaurant is flavorful and filling and feels just like a home cooked meal.
