    Garlic naan and chutney

An unexpected gem of an Indian restaurant with perfect service and truly right-spiced delicious food. The chicken tikka saal was rich with spinach chicken herbs and taste. The mulligatawny soups was textured with onion and a lovely blend of favor. The chutneys were some of the best I have ever had in a commercial Indian restaurant and perfect with the garlic Nan. Topped it off with a mango lassi that tasted like a healthy dessert with lots of puréed mango. Very pleasant solo dining experienxe

Easily the most underrated restaurant in Portland, especially on Congress St. There is NEVER a wait to eat, the staff is super friendly, it's very cheap, and the food is drool-worthy. You literally cannot ask for a better experience. I highly recommend going here for dinner, splitting multiple bottles of wine (you can even take them home if you don't finish), and stuffing yourself with delicious grilled breads, naan, soup, and probably a Daal Tadka.

Portland's Asian restaurant scene has exploded with fantastic Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Vietnamese spots everywhere. However, there are very few Indian options in the city that "has more restaurants per square foot than San Francisco." And after coming back from 2 weeks in Mumbai and Goa where we ate street food, family cooked meals, and at high end restaurants I feel Indian needs to be added to that scene. Indian food is full of delicious flavors: garlic naan bread, thick spicy gravies, and tasty chutneys. It can be vegan, it's mostly vegetarian, and yes there's meat. Indian Palace does a great job of making this case. We tried the Channa Masala, the Butter Chicken, and the Lamb Madras. Along with plenty of garlic naan bread, jasmine rice, and cheap beer. We left stuffed, satisfied, and missing the heat, the noise, and the people of India.

Wow. Im so pleasantly full and happy. Someone had recommended this place on a local Facebook page. Apparently they are under new ownership. I was blown away by how good the food is. We are regulars at TAJ (we did not care for hi Bombay or tandoor) and I have to say that it's honestly going to be a two way tie or very close. The Paneer pakora was so flavorful. You could tell they didn't just coat it in plain chickpea flour. There are def spices involved. The chicken tikka app was incredibly moist and flavorful and didn't burn my face off. Butter chicken was straight fire. I would say it's in the top 3 of butter chicken I've had. The saag paneer was delicious as well. It looks like they grill the paneer before going into the saag. Rice was cooked perfectly. Chef's kiss, baby!! We just got home from London and have been craving Indian. The price is right here as well. Definitely go check them out!!!

Made reservations for 8 and walked in to a completely empty restaurant and was asked,"Do you have reservations?" That was funny. We were seated by a very friendly server and talked a bit with her and ordered our dinner. It came out very fast. We ordered Butter Chicken and Tikki Masala. Sauce was amazing. Chicken was a little on the dry side. Naan was great. Very Reasonably priced.

Interior: bright, traditional red and yellow. CLEAN.

As soon as we walked in we knew we found a gem. In the words of my boyfriend: "I like the way the chicken looks. Like if you were to bring it home and grill it." First, not just the chicken, but everything was wonderful. It was evident the naan was fresh made to order, and the rice itself was lightly seasoned and a very good texture. The chicken tikka appetizer was tender, juicy, and delicious. We also had a lentil daal and chicken curry. Both great. What we really enjoyed was the development of the flavors. it was fresh, spicy, savory. very good all around, and the tea! Masala Chai (literally means 'spiced tea') is delicious. We asked our waiter where we can buy some to bring home and he happily lead us to Masala Market in SoPo (another review pending) where we could find all kinds of teas and ingredients. The restaurant itself is bright, colorful, and CLEAN. The seating arrangement is interesting but I really like it. its a good use of a small space. The glasses were very clean, and our waters were always full. Our server did seem a bit nervous, but very very nice and knowledgable. A side note: It can be hard to find this place but its DIRECTLY under the 565 awning on congress st. Its evident by the service and product that this small restaurant really cares about their business, and boyfriend and I are now super fans. We can't wait to go back.

It was much cheaper than I was expecting. Staff was very kind and accommodating. They had me on my way quickly. Ambiance in the restaurant gives little hole in the wall spot, which I never mind. I'm really glad I did. I got the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan, and DANG, was that flavor good. They do spice levels from one to ten- how cool is that?! I ordered online and it was ready within 15 minutes. As I waited, the place smelled amazing, was very clean, and had super service. The guy running it was so kind. He forgot my naan, and as I was walking home he called me, told me he forgot, then ran up the street to give it to me! That's above and beyond. The flavor is excellent. Spice is excellent. Serving sizes are generous. I can't believe it took me this long to check this place out. Stellar service, flavors, and menu. Can't wait to come back!

Each time we have had wonderful service, awesome food and enjoyed the calming atmosphere. It's great when I get to eat in a vegetarian or Vegan restaurant and they're able to ask the check what they recommend for very low sodium! This never happens at any of the chain restaurants! I got the credit card receipt so I'm thinking last month I ordered the citrus ribs, which I know I would love and what I did get was awesome, my DH dish was also awesome! First thing to note is that the menu seems to have changed substantially, offering more Thai-adjacent and pan-Asian food than authentically Thai food. I ordered their coconut soup (Tom Kha; $10) to start and a local mushroom bowl as my main--both vegan by default. It took a while for the food to come out--maybe 20 mins for the soup and another 15 for the main. The soup was nicely seasoned, maybe being a bit too thick, and not allowing the galangal/lime leaf to breathe as much as it should. But I liked how it came with red pepper, tomato, mushroom and tofu. The main was not really Thai at all, coming with a rather stingy portion of tempeh, two kinds of mushrooms, red pepper, Lima beans, and microgreens. Reasonably seasoned but just not that interesting. Overall, disappointing relative to my previous experience, but still pretty good.
