I was really impressed with this place. Of course, I'm a Taj fan- who in southern maine isn't?!- but I wanted to give these guys a try because I'd heard good things. I'm really glad I did. I got the paneer tikka masala and garlic naan, and DANG, was that flavor good. They do spice levels from one to ten- how cool is that?! I ordered online and it was ready within 15 minutes. As I waited, the place smelled amazing, was very clean, and had super service. The guy running it was so kind. He forgot my naan, and as I was walking home he called me, told me he forgot, then ran up the street to give it to me! That's above and beyond. The flavor is excellent. Spice is excellent. Serving sizes are generous. I can't believe it took me this long to check this place out. Stellar service, flavors, and menu. Can't wait to come back!

Butter Chicken (3.5/5) - It was delicious and the sauce was nice with the rice. However, I would've like a bigger portion of chicken. It was an average dish. The service was standard. The waiter was nice and brought the dishes in a timely manner. The ambiance was lacking. The indoor seating decoration was alright and there was no music playing at all in the compact restaurant. Overall, the food was delicious but the atmosphere was lacking.

Last time I was here was years ago, and I think it's been a few months since I've had take out from here. Similarly, I overheard someone else at another table remark that they'd been here maybe 5 years ago and they think they've tried just about everywhere else and thought it time to come back. And Hi Bombay is a good place to come back to, I think. I ordered the keema naan, which is filled with ground lamb. I remember liking it before and I did again, though I think it tasted drier than I remember it. I also ordered the murg malabar. I had never heard of it but I found it delicious. Tender morsels of chicken in a creamy, rich curry, spiced to order. Happy I went out on a limb and got it. Yummy. I think they must have updated the menu somewhat recently? I don't know.

Cute and cozy Indian restaurant with delicious chai (pre-sweetened and on the slightly sweet end of where I like it but very good). The almond naan is different, delicious and adds a nuttyness to everything. The aloo mutter is delicious!

My husband and I ordered from Hi Bombay for delivery. The food arrived well packaged and hot! We ordered pappadam, Onion Bhaji, Samosa, Dal Shobra soup, and Co-co Nut Soup. The appetizers were great! We ordered some extra chutneys to enjoy! For our main dishes we ordered Butter Chicken and Boti Kabab Masala with rice. Both dishes were very good! My husband absolutely enjoyed his (Boti Kabab). I really loved mine too but would have been more enjoyable has the chicken been diced smaller. The garlic naan was delicious! Give this place a try!

This place is amazing! Went late on a Friday night, staff was super friendly and welcoming even though dinner service was almost over. Everything came out fresh, hot, flavorful and delicious. I recommend any of their naan and the butter chicken was to die for. Overall, best Indian food I have found in this part of Maine. I'll definitely be back!!

Food is fine, the service was not great. This place is not well taken care of and I did not feel clean here. The tables were not bussed and the restaurant is in desperate need of some TLC. The waiters need guidance in knowing how to better serve customers. We were rarely checked on and water was rarely refreshed. One dish was wrong too. Despite this I really believe in this place... it is one of the few Indian restaurants in Portland (and has an amazing location in Old Port)!

It's regrettably been a while since I visited, but they have a great menu! I am vegan and love spice. The vegetable vindaloo is delicious!

Goat curry: Fat, gristle, bone. Not one bit of meat was edible. The Nan had a sheen of fat and was dense. Unfriendly waitress.

Each time we have had wonderful service, awesome food and enjoyed the calming atmosphere. It's great when I get to eat in a vegetarian or Vegan restaurant and they're able to ask the check what they recommend for very low sodium! This never happens at any of the chain restaurants! I got the credit card receipt so I'm thinking last month I ordered the citrus ribs, which I know I would love and what I did get was awesome, my DH dish was also awesome! It's so hard to choose what to get when you finally have options outside of pasta, Mushroom this or that-that we don't eat! Lily our server was great! Looking forward to coming back when we head hours East again! Thank you for an amazing meal and night!

First thing to note is that the menu seems to have changed substantially, offering more Thai-adjacent and pan-Asian food than authentically Thai food. I ordered their coconut soup (Tom Kha; $10) to start and a local mushroom bowl as my main--both vegan by default. It took a while for the food to come out--maybe 20 mins for the soup and another 15 for the main. The soup was nicely seasoned, maybe being a bit too thick, and not allowing the galangal/lime leaf to breathe as much as it should. But I liked how it came with red pepper, tomato, mushroom and tofu. The main was not really Thai at all, coming with a rather stingy portion of tempeh, two kinds of mushrooms, red pepper, Lima beans, and microgreens. Reasonably seasoned but just not that interesting. Overall, disappointing relative to my previous experience, but still pretty good.

We've been coming here each year now while on our annual vacation in the Valley since they opened. This time we stopped in for lunch as soon as we arrived to the area. The menu has all the classics plus a few interesting specialty and fusion dishes. Mango lassi is delicious and refreshing. Boyfriend likes to get the boozy drinks, this time going with the spiked chai. For food we got onion bhaji, chili paneer, chili garlic naan, paneer butter masala and saag paneer. Per usual, the food was very tasty. We always make sure to request our dishes to be spicy at every Indian establishment we go to, and here they do deliver on that. The butter masala was very rich and smooth in addition to being around our preferred heat level. The saag was delicious as well, chock full of greens with an earthy flavor while also at our favorite spice level. Onion bhaji was crispy. Naan was tasty though I wish there was a little bit more of it. However the chili paneer was a massive portion. Haveli is overall a good choice in the Valley.
