Great service. When you come in, you instantly get greeted and seated and asked if you are ordering or there for the lunch buffet. We always go for the buffet, then you are asked about your preference for Naan. You are free to go about getting your own plate and packing it at your own desire. you can always get another plate to get more food, and don't worry, they refill the food quite frequently and quickly when any of it goes low. The food is great. Everything tastes fresh. The goat is amazing; it is well cooked and does not have game smell to it. One thing I would wish for, is some Sagg without the Paneer. Just straight Sagg would be nice, for those with Lactose problems :) but it is nice that there is a decent variety for those with Lactose problems. Definitely come and try their lunch buffet, it will get you addicted! Come once, and come back always again!

This place is the best. You'd be hard pressed to find flavorful, vegetarian food of this quality at this price! It tastes like your grandma is cooking it in the back. So flavorful, so fast, and just so good! The staff is also all so sweet and focused on getting you your food timely and kindly. It's not a restaurant but a grocery store with a food court style area in the back so you aren't really going for the ambiance but it's very homely and sweet nonetheless. You can also get your grocery shopping done before or after you eat so it's super convenient. And if you crave something sweet after go to the front counter and get yourself some yummy goods! Personally recommend the pani puri or gol guppa!

The food is delicious and affordable. I come here and take food to go, but if you want to eat here there's tables, not fancy at all which I don't mind. Service is okay don't expect outstanding greetings. I come here for the food and product to cook. I love how inexpensive is. The food is always delicious, a little on the spicy side. There's plenty of vegetarian options available and protein as well. Plenty of parking in the shopping center. The ambiance is not there don't expect much.

Met a friend here for a late meal. Unassuming restaurant in a spice shop. Decent portion sizes good flavor, and good variety of dishes. I ordered the Aloo Gobi. Cooked well and really enjoyed it. Naan was made fresh and was fantastic. Service and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. Worker seemed bothered by customers being in there. I ordered the combo and paid 15 dollars on a 12 dollar total. Worker didnt give me change or a receipt. He just walked off. Also they have an old Thrifty's Ice Cream sign hanging up but when asked, they said they dont sell ice cream. Food 4/5 Price 5/5 Vibes 4/5 Service 1/5 More than likely wont return but might for the actual storefront for all the spices and ingredients.

Everyone who works here is so nice. I am a self taught home cook and have finally gotten brave enough to try cooking Indian food. I got a list together of all the spices I didn't already have and found all of them here. When I went to check out, the woman at the register asked if someone I knew was cooking real Indian food. I said I was going to try. She gave me this box of sweets as encouragement. They were all delicious. And the fish curry I ended up making turned out perfectly spiced!

Nice hidden local grocery store with nice healthy Indian food to take on the go. It's a nice, cheap, casual spot and lots of vegetarian options are available so don't worry about it being unhealthy! Of course, there's dessert and snack options too. Their cha isn't too bad either. Nothing beats homemade, but considering it's a nice pit stop, I like it. Giving it 4 stars since a casual spot for a community to get together at; gave nice homey vibes.

Wow an Indian hole in the wall serves Thrifty's Ice Cream

We had the mixed platter, butter chicken, garlic naan, chicken tikka, egg fried rice, and sag paneer. Everything was delicious and the dishes were spiced to our preferences. The mixed platter was a great way to sample all of the appetizers without committing to one. Everything from the samosa to the onion bhaji and the chicken and lamb tikka and seekh kabab was fresh and flavorful. The garlic naans were fantastic and served as the perfect accompaniment to the sag paneer and butter chicken. The chicken tikka was nicely charred on the outside while still being juicy and moist inside, and the egg fried rice had a nice buttery taste and was full of eggs and peas. Couldn't complain about a single dish we had. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, with Bollywood music playing softly in the background and a manageable noise level in the dining area. Highly recommend this restaurant for the food, the service, and the atmosphere.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to find delicious Indian food in the SFV. My quest…read moreclearly continues. A friend who has great taste in food recommended this place - he and his wife have ordered food from here before and had it delivered. My parents and I did the same tonight, and I'm sorry to say we're all extremely underwhelmed. For context, we're Indian, so we know what Indian food is supposed to taste like, and what goes in it - my friend and his wife are not, so I can't (and won't) blame them in this case. Their other food recommendations have been excellent. We ordered the matar paneer, tadka dal, chana bhuna, Peshwari Naan, and 2 garlic butter naans. The dal was OK - good consistency but just OK. The chana bhuna was again, just OK - it lacked salt and didn't have much masala so I'm not sure why they're calling it "bhuna." The matar paneer was the most disappointing of all. It was in some bizarre, watery, milk-consistency yellow sauce we've never seen before and literally lacked any kind of flavor whatsoever: no masala, no salt, and no spices. I get that it was ordered mild, but that is only supposed to apply to heat (e.g. cayenne pepper/powder), not mean make it totally bland and devoid of non-heat spices that typically go in masalas (ground onions, garam masala, garlic, ginger, tomato, coriander powder, etc.). The only positive thing I can say about the matar paneer is that they at least gave plenty of paneer pieces unlike most restaurants where finding paneer is a frustrating fishing expedition. Onto the naans: the garlic butter naans were also just OK - a bit over cooked so they were hard and dried out, so perhaps the butter had already gotten absorbed by the time it made it to our house. The Peshwari naan was soft and flaky but a bit too overstuffed. (Although I suppose that's better than it being understuffed.) The food all arrived piping hot and smelled amazing, which is why the inferior quality of the food itself was additionally disappointing. We can only conclude that whoever the chef is at this place is not Indian; or if s/he is, then they need to go back and have their mom or an Indian Auntie teach them how to cook properly. And if they're not Indian, then they need to find an Indian Auntie to learn from and only then should they be cooking Indian food for sale. Seeing all of the rave reviews, including some from Indian folks, I wonder if we just ordered on a bad night when the regular chef was perhaps out sick or something, but I can't honestly recommend this place and won't be ordering from it again or visiting it in person, either. It wasn't cheap and it just didn't taste like Indian food should be.

Since it was a group visit, we ended up tasting almost everything on the menu--and every single item impressed us. We started with pani puri, which was fresh, tangy, and full of that classic street-food punch. The chili chicken was crispy and spicy with great flavor, while the hakka noodles were well seasoned and comforting. The jhol momos were rich and flavorful, and the steamed momos were juicy, soft, and perfectly cooked--simple and delicious. One of the biggest highlights was their new addition: Maggi. It was hands down the best--pure nostalgia in a bowl and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave. And for me, the clear winner was the loaded fries--crispy, generously topped, and absolutely addictive. I loved them and would happily go back just for those. Even though it's a food truck, it gives you the perfect feel of enjoying authentic snacks and momos, just like true street food should. The food was fresh, portions were generous, and service was quick and friendly. If you're craving authentic Himalayan flavors, comforting momos, and nostalgic snacks, Himalaya Momos is a must-try. Perfect for a quick lunch, office outing, or anytime street-food craving.

If you want to highlight your taste buds, have you tried Pakistani cuisine? Decades ago, my quest for the best tandoori chicken in the valley, brought me to Red Chili on Parthenia, in Northridge. It has always taken the crown. I recently discovered that they actually have a buffet too, including this tandoori chicken, a d only offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM ($25 plus tax). Things are different here. On the meat side, they had beef nihari, beef haleem, chicken tikka masala, chicken biriyani and tandoori chicken. Last two lived up, amazing. The other 3 were mediocre. Both beef dishes were pasty, already thick and over heated since 11 am. For vegetables, only 3 selections. Chole (garbanzos) was better than the other two, again pasty dishes of potatoes and spinach, that lacked the fresh look and taste. Last two even loosing texture. There were adequate condiments, on the spread. Unique here are the two unlimited selections of freshly cooked naan and puri (Indian buffets give you a choice of none but only one serving). I had 3 puri servings. It was flaky, well layered, soft, easy to eat and melts in your mouth. In a nutshell, finding restaurants in the valley for Pakistani cuisine or at that matter in Los Angeles, is not easy. They are there. OC has a handful that are super. But in the Valley, there is no abundance. So make the journey to Red Chili. At least, just for the biriyani and tandoori chicken.
