Make that 100 star review the food was extra spicy tonight and heartwarming to say the least. If you're hungry and you're able to handle some spice, this place is not to be missed. The service is always kind sweet polite, and the smiles. Keep you coming back again and again and again. You can sit there and dine or get it to go. Some special tips would be to ask to have Dhal on your rice. The onion badges are spectacular. I get the.Chana bhatura every time. Been wanting to try Baba Sweets for quite awhile and never got around to trying it until today. They are know for their Indian vegetarian dishes and sweets of course. It was very busy inside, but the line moved quickly. You wait by the sign until they call you up. You can get a one, two or three item combo, 3 item being $12.99 and what I got. They are nice, but are rushing you along, so be ready to order. I got the Chana Masala, Sahi Paneer and Aloo Beigan, comes with rice and onions as well as plain or seasoned yogurt, I got seasoned and Naan bread, garlic was my choice. If you get a 3 item, you also get a free little desert, Gajrela, which is grated carrots that are sautéed in Ghee, Milk and Cardamom. So tasty! Everything was excellent, my favorite in order of I hate to rate them would be the Sahi Paneer, Chana Masala and Aloo Beigan, but they were all great and I will be back to try other items. We also got 1/2 dozens Samosas, comes with two chutneys as well, yum!! Inside is bigger than it looks, a good amount of seating as well as some outdoor. The parking lot is also much larger than when you see it from the street, so you should be able to get a spot. Authentic NORTH INDIAN PUNJABI cuisine, just the way I like it. One of the best chole bhature and dal makhni I've ever had. Same can be said for the ras malai and kheer, Mango lassi and other sweets were good too (besan barfi and kaju kathli). Cha (chai) could be a little better. Customer service could be improved - we were told we cannot sit down to eat and it was still 25 min to closing time. We ended up eating in the car. The crowds were insane on a Friday night to where they sold out of mango lassi, you guys need to have enough prepared to account for the crowds on the weekends. There's no To-go cups with lids and we were given piping hot tea with not even a second cup to protect from how hot it was. We struggled to carry this to our car with no lids. If this were improved, I'd give them a full 5 stars but the food is 5 stars 100% and we will keep coming back for it. read more

If you're a fan of Indian, you'll definitely enjoy Baba. Celebrating 15 years recently this Canoga Park hidden gem is a fully vegetarian dessertery and restaurant. We stopped in to try their complimentary buffet including so many yummy eats. The Naan, Aloo Paratha (potato bread), Baingan Bharta (eggplant) Chana Masala (chickpeas), Aloo Gobhi (Cauliflower Potato Curry) and Basmati Rice among other things were incredible - vegan by default favs. There was some Saag Paneer, but I know this is a fully vegetarian dish with plenty of cheese/dairy. It was very much enjoyed by my boyfriend as were tons of buttery, creamy delights here. We did a plate and a half each. The spice ranges from mild to medium/moderate, but I don't mind even more heat, actually a lot of heat. I know if you're not familiar with Indian cuisine and culture you might not know that the range of spices is vast, but it isn't only to add immense flavors. It also aids in loads of health benefits which is the sweetest thing about this San Fernando Valley staple. Neighborhood energy, service and care making it a true hidden must be part of LA's melting pot. Located in a semi industrial part of Canoga just east of the Orange Line Busway path in a stand alone lot off Saticoy Street/Deering Avenue - there is both tons of street parking and lot parking. Restroom for customers - gender neutral - left of the main restaurant itself. Seating outside as well as in, though they moved everything full outdoors when we visited to ensure a smooth flow for the buffet. This is an amazing place to have really authentic Indian food. I like all the sweets and snacks they made. If you are visiting LA this place is must, however it is little ahead of LA but worth visiting. I like their chole bhature, same taste water crave here. Their Indian snacks are so fresh and good and write now they have plenty of varieties for Diwali including Diwali diyas. Craving Indian, this is a must-try! No frills, just a "quick" pick and go type restaurant. I put quick in quotes due to depending on line. There is a line to get into, wait your turn, get help from the person calling you to come up to the counter. Two item combo? Three item? Only a few bucks difference and lots of food extra. I always opt for the larger combo, so worth it. Saag is only available on Sundays, I know cause it's my favorite and I've asked a handful of times, lol. Their samosa is delicious, and always hits the spot. When you get your Naan (bread - comes with a combo), eat it fresh, eat it soon, the longer it sits and gets steamed in the heat bag, it changes it. The people working there are nice and friendly, and very helpful if you need some help or explaining. The carrot dessert is awesome as it is quite balanced. Sweet, but not super sweet. This place is the biggest hidden gem! My family has been coming here for years, and it is seriously the best place for purely authentic Punjabi food! The line goes by fairly quickly, and once you get to the counter, you place your order all at once. They let you sit down and eat first and then you go back to the counter to pay. They give out free chai as well, which is a very great bonus. The food is high quality, I highly recommend the chole bhature as well, the chole is flavorful and packed with spices and the bhature are so soft, and fluffy. Also make sure to grab some samosas, they are the best! Seating isn't a problem. There's plenty of tables. It was our first time here so we didn't know the words or too familiar with the food, but we wanted to try a lot of different things. I loved the hand made signs they had everywhere that established the culture of the environment. For example, everything is self served. We bus our own trays and clean up after ourselves when we're done eating because they are focused on the food quality. For food, my family and I ordered 2x two item combo with vegetable rice, and four items we wanted to try. I loved all of it. The mix of flavors and spices were so amazing. We ordered the butter and garlic naan, which was hot, fresh, and delicious. We also order the samosa Chana, which was samosa doused in yogurt and other toppings. We also got the bread pakora, which was a deep fry bread with a potato filling with two different dipping sauces. Everything was vegetarian For dessert, I tried the Desi ghee ladoo, which was a sweet dessert shaped as an orange ball. I loved the texture and it was sweet but not too sweet. I also bought the peanut bar which was also delicious. For drinks, we got the mango lassi, which was a smooth mango drink, and the hot tea, which was delicious. Overall, I'm glad we tried this place. Great Indian Vegetarian food- delicious and good portion sizes. The atmosphere is that of a dhaba in India which means it is perfectly functional with no frills. On a whim I decided to make my way through the thick of late afternoon traffic for I was determined to partake in what I heard was the Valley's best kept secret of Indian vegetarian cuisine. The jammed parking lot itself was a good sign of a thriving customer base. Inside was a busy line of families all milling about. The sweets and curries from the hot bar are good but I wasn't super impressed with the chaat we tried from here. The samosas (~$1.50 each) were much smaller than I expected for the price and the filling was overly salty. The bread pakora ($1.50) was good. We also got a selection of sweets (most of them are $9.99/lb). I only tried a couple but the mango burfi and kaju katli were both good. On a second visit, I tried the two item combo for $8.99. We got the butter paneer masala and the aloo gobi (potato cauliflower) curries, and the combo comes with rice, yogurt, naan, and pickles. Not a bad deal. The paneer curry was very mild and had a sweet flavor to it. Right up my alley. My friend got the chole / chana bhatura ($5.99) and really enjoyed that. After hearing on the radio that India had just won its first Olympic gold medal in track and field *ever*, I was hit by a sudden craving for Indian food. Just so happened that I was also driving near Baba Sweets (they've been in my Yelp bookmarks forever.) It was time. I drove into the crowded parking lot and found my free parking spot, ready for lunch. Indian food has been my favorite cuisine since I was in high school, trying to convince my family members that a vegetarian diet meant something more delicious than simply swapping steak for tofu. I was successful, thanks to my local Indian restaurant. Even my staunchly carnivore father grew to love Indian food and my dear mother claims to be vegetarian to this day. They currently do not allow indoor or outdoor dining at the restaurant; therefore, there are indeed long lines for the to-go dishes and sweets. But it's worth it. I think I was the only non-Indian person in a 30-minute line. I consider this a good omen. When the people who are experts in a cuisine seek out a restaurant that serves that cuisine, it bodes well. Menu: While Baba Sweets is known for delicious Indian sweets, they also serve many of the standard Indian dishes from their kitchen. My two item combo included perfectly cooked rice, naan (Indian flat bread) made to order, aloo gobhi (cauliflower and potatoes), chana masala (savory chickpeas), spicy onion/pepper chutney, and boonthi raita (creamy yogurt topped with gram flour balls.) With such gigantic portions, my lunch easily became dinner as well. Everything was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. Service: Very good. The gentleman behind the counter answered all my questions patiently and once I got to the head of the line, my order came up quickly. Everything I ordered was extremely fresh and delicious.
