Decent price for ok buffet. $18.95 per person. Variety of different foods assortment of chicken dishes, one goat or mutton dish, saag no paneer, dal or lentil and soups... staff is not very welcoming but the job gets done. Kind of popular spot for lunch. One naan per client. Not sure I would come back.

I was very happy with my meal. I got the Chef's Choice Combination. Choice of meat. I thought it was only a meat curry but we got to pick any dish. I got my favorite chicken tikka masala. Comes with veggie rice, aloo gobi, dal and a choice of salad or raita. My dinner comes with naan AND tandoori chicken. I never had Mulligatawny soup and it was delicious. It was filling and ended up taking most of my food home. Spice level was perfect, mild, super baby spice mild. The naan was freshly made and came out hot. "Shoop" our server was fantastic. Very friendly and very helpful. I forgot my combo came with Tandoori chicken and he brought it out right away. Very large restaurant. LOVE the decor. Huge art piece on the front wall with life size Indian people and a camel. The menu is huge! The combination meals were great so you can get a little bit of everything. My little knowledge of Indian food I thought everything was great. So close to home, I'd definitely go back.

I've reviewed this a few times but it's food and services has descended into chaos, food is unfortunately oily (had a stomach ache), servers were young girls acting like they're in a hurry to go home and bathroom has a weird smell. I usually enjoy my goat recipe with their rice but today, I had a stomach ache after lunch. I was recalling the rice dish which was too oily and felt old and mushy. While I was having lunch, the two very young girls keep asking me if I'm ready to pay for my bill? Good gosh, can't you wait for people to freely leave and enjoy their food first? Can't you girls allow your customers to check on their phones and see if work colleagues need me for anything? Okay, so the food seems to be reheated and not fresh. Oh my, the fruits were old too. I shared my frustration to these ladies and without anything like apologies from them, I headed to the restroom. As soon as I entered the restroom, the smell was unbearable ...I just ran and left the restaurant. I'm sorry but I don't recommend this restaurant anymore, the management has gone down the drain and won't have anyone having the same experience like what I had...

My daughter discovered this restaurant while living at Cal State Northridge. It quickly became her favorite Indian food restaurant in the area. Since then, she has taken me and other family members there several times. Last night we enjoyed a post honors convocation celebration at Village Tandoor. My daughter, my two nephews, and me shared lamb vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, yellow daal, and saag paneer. The rest of our party got their own dishes. We like our food spicy so that's how we ordered it. It was all so delicious. The staff is all very friendly and helpful. The only time we felt weird at all was when we asked for several containers to take our leftovers to go. The gentleman who helped us seemed annoyed by our request, but the food was so good that we wanted to take every little bit of leftovers to go, which the staff and the cooks should take as a compliment. :-) Thank you so much to Village Tandoor for serving us another great meal! We will be back for sure.

This hit every craving I had, it was phenomenal! I had the garlic naan and chicken tikka with rice. Perfectly seasoned and flavorful.

We had the mixed platter, butter chicken, garlic naan, chicken tikka, egg fried rice, and sag paneer. Everything was delicious and the dishes were spiced to our preferences. The mixed platter was a great way to sample all of the appetizers without committing to one. Everything from the samosa to the onion bhaji and the chicken and lamb tikka and seekh kabab was fresh and flavorful. The garlic naans were fantastic and served as the perfect accompaniment to the sag paneer and butter chicken. The chicken tikka was nicely charred on the outside while still being juicy and moist inside, and the egg fried rice had a nice buttery taste and was full of eggs and peas. Couldn't complain about a single dish we had. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice, with Bollywood music playing softly in the background and a manageable noise level in the dining area. Highly recommend this restaurant for the food, the service, and the atmosphere.

I don't understand why it's so difficult to find delicious Indian food in the SFV. My quest…read moreclearly continues. A friend who has great taste in food recommended this place - he and his wife have ordered food from here before and had it delivered. My parents and I did the same tonight, and I'm sorry to say we're all extremely underwhelmed. For context, we're Indian, so we know what Indian food is supposed to taste like, and what goes in it - my friend and his wife are not, so I can't (and won't) blame them in this case. Their other food recommendations have been excellent. We ordered the matar paneer, tadka dal, chana bhuna, Peshwari Naan, and 2 garlic butter naans. The dal was OK - good consistency but just OK. The chana bhuna was again, just OK - it lacked salt and didn't have much masala so I'm not sure why they're calling it "bhuna." The matar paneer was the most disappointing of all. It was in some bizarre, watery, milk-consistency yellow sauce we've never seen before and literally lacked any kind of flavor whatsoever: no masala, no salt, and no spices. I get that it was ordered mild, but that is only supposed to apply to heat (e.g. cayenne pepper/powder), not mean make it totally bland and devoid of non-heat spices that typically go in masalas (ground onions, garam masala, garlic, ginger, tomato, coriander powder, etc.). The only positive thing I can say about the matar paneer is that they at least gave plenty of paneer pieces unlike most restaurants where finding paneer is a frustrating fishing expedition. Onto the naans: the garlic butter naans were also just OK - a bit over cooked so they were hard and dried out, so perhaps the butter had already gotten absorbed by the time it made it to our house. The Peshwari naan was soft and flaky but a bit too overstuffed. (Although I suppose that's better than it being understuffed.) The food all arrived piping hot and smelled amazing, which is why the inferior quality of the food itself was additionally disappointing. We can only conclude that whoever the chef is at this place is not Indian; or if s/he is, then they need to go back and have their mom or an Indian Auntie teach them how to cook properly. And if they're not Indian, then they need to find an Indian Auntie to learn from and only then should they be cooking Indian food for sale. Seeing all of the rave reviews, including some from Indian folks, I wonder if we just ordered on a bad night when the regular chef was perhaps out sick or something, but I can't honestly recommend this place and won't be ordering from it again or visiting it in person, either. It wasn't cheap and it just didn't taste like Indian food should be.

If you want to highlight your taste buds, have you tried Pakistani cuisine? Decades ago, my quest for the best tandoori chicken in the valley, brought me to Red Chili on Parthenia, in Northridge. It has always taken the crown. I recently discovered that they actually have a buffet too, including this tandoori chicken, a d only offered on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 AM to 3 PM ($25 plus tax). Things are different here. On the meat side, they had beef nihari, beef haleem, chicken tikka masala, chicken biriyani and tandoori chicken. Last two lived up, amazing. The other 3 were mediocre. Both beef dishes were pasty, already thick and over heated since 11 am. For vegetables, only 3 selections. Chole (garbanzos) was better than the other two, again pasty dishes of potatoes and spinach, that lacked the fresh look and taste. Last two even loosing texture. There were adequate condiments, on the spread. Unique here are the two unlimited selections of freshly cooked naan and puri (Indian buffets give you a choice of none but only one serving). I had 3 puri servings. It was flaky, well layered, soft, easy to eat and melts in your mouth. In a nutshell, finding restaurants in the valley for Pakistani cuisine or at that matter in Los Angeles, is not easy. They are there. OC has a handful that are super. But in the Valley, there is no abundance. So make the journey to Red Chili. At least, just for the biriyani and tandoori chicken.
