I visited the place while spending a weekend at Massanutten. I'm so glad I found it. My husband and I love Indian and this place had amazing service from the time we walked in, up u til we left. Our waiter was the kindest and very attentive. The place was clean and quiet at the time we visited. Although, as we were leaving the place started to pick up. Food was delicious and hot. You can tell it was made fresh and boy did the flavors explode in your mouth. All in all if I'm ever back in this area I would definitely visit again. Such a warm, friendly feeling inside. Highly recommended.

Delicious flavorful food for great value! My husband and I came for lunch and everything was delicious. Only place in town you can get favorites like butter chicken for less than 10.00 dollars!

Excellent butter chicken. Friendly service. Naan was served warm and was the best ever. Great location on the heart of Harrisonburg.

Notably, you're only about an hour a way from an Indian restaurant bonanza in some of the suburbs closer to DC, and this place would be pretty ordinary in those surroundings. However, around here, it is one of few options. Notably it does have vegan-marked offerings. This should not be construed to suggest that they offer health food. I searched for something that wasn't fried but was told that they were out of steamed dumplings (some degree of pre-preparation must be done there). I ended up with a chole bhature, which came with two small puffed breads that didn't impress, but had a great set of accoutrements. I got my dumplings fried in chili sauce. And I added a fresh mint and lime soda, which was excellent. So there is some quality here, for those wanting Indian food and not wanting to head towards DC or Winchester.

There is such a wonderful blend of spices in their dishes. The lunch menu entrees run $15 and up. They come with your choice of entree, soup or salad, naan, rice and the side of the day. The side on this day was peas in a curry/cumin type sauce. I expected I would just try the peas and move on but they were delicious, and I ended up eating the whole thing. The lentil soup is blended so there are not actual lentils pieces. It had a bit of a kick and very good flavor. I ordered the Sabjiwaia with chicken and medium spice. I could easily move the heat up a notch as the medium was very tolerable. It was very good as well as the rice and naan. Some of my fellow diners ordered the Chicken Tikka Platter which I would try the next time. The chicken is whole pieces, and it's not smothered in a heavy sauce. The sauteed vegetables were also separate. The service was on point so no complaints there. I would definitely return!

It was pretty good, it had a slightly spiced flavor to it but I wasn't sure what the spice was. We ordered the chili milli gobhi, samosa, butter chicken, and garlic naan. I liked the chili milli gobhi a lot. I wasn't expecting it to be fried, but I enjoyed it, and it was covered in some sort of chili sauce. The samosa was pretty good, I liked the sauces it came with. The butter chicken was just fine, I feel like I have had better, but it was very saucy which I liked. The naan was pretty good. I liked our server, she was nice and seemed to know the menu. The restaurant was nice inside and had a good ambiance.

We enjoyed the food and service so much that we decided to host a get-together for almost 50 people in their private backroom this past weekend. The owners were helpful during the planning. They made suggestions for the style of food we wanted and during the event were very attentive, making sure all needs were met. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a private event or for dinner in the main restaurant.

I can now say it is delicious, and the masala spices have a unique and tasty flavor. I did ask for spicy and it wasn't as spicy as I'd like. We started with some garlic naan and a chili paneer appetizer. The chili paneer was awesome, and it is something I will be ordering in the future. I was with my mom and she ordered lamb korma, which is more of a curry type dish. As I love anything curry, I was impressed by this dish as well. The ambience was meh, as the restaurant was in a building that used to be a warehouse. The service was good, and our server was kinda quirky--but she was very good at her job. Since Royal India Palace has an extensive menu, I will be returning next time I am in town visiting family.

I know we're all used to mammoth portions but it's not possible for restaurants to serve you a dinner to eat and enough for dinner tomorrow night, too. Yes, I also miss those days and those prices. Because the food is in fact tasty, we will go back. It's important to support the new food establishments giving it a go in places like Lovingston where there are so few options. Hopefully, Indian Oven will develop enough of a customer base to make portions just a little bigger. TBH, my chicken dish was so small, I thought it was some kind of side dish to my main entree. It doesn't need to be enough for two dinners, but it should be enough for 1. Still -- it is worth a visit. Let's support small independent restaurants.

Service is table-side but you pay at the desk. Portions are large and most people end up taking a box home. I'd say for two people, get two dishes to share and a single appetizer, too. They will allow a lot of alterations to your dishes and are careful to meet your spice tolerance. Do not expect a lot of answers on what exactly this or that dish is; the wait staff know how to put the orders in but not the intricacies of what separates chicken tikka from chicken tikka masala. The space is small, but I have gone with my wife and with 12 people and had no problems getting seating. Do check the times they are open, because if it's within 30 minutes of closing they can probably only get your food for you to-go. Most people like the skewered meat or korma-type foods. I'd say an order of naan is NOT sufficient for two people, so order double or a mix of two types (they have over 6 to choose from). If you don't do meat, they have fish dishes. And if you are vegetarian you'll be fine, but probably not a lot for a vegan. They also have a fusion East Asian section at the back of the menu. I've tried it and like it, but I'd say it's a bit heavier than the rest of the menu. TL;DR - If you don't know what something is, use their wifi and google it. It's a simpler process than asking the waitress who will ask the cook who will explain it to her so she can remember half of it and explain it to you. Also, usually a good idea to pair one meat dish with one vegetarian if you are splitting with someone. Maybe try one thing new and one old trusted item (saag paneer).
