Indian Aroma is one of our favorite restaurants in Hendersonville. Whenever we have errands in the area, we try to plan them around lunchtime just so we can stop here to eat. We were a bit disappointed today to learn that the lunch buffet is now only offered Friday through Sunday, but we understand that was likely a necessary business decision and respect that. We both ordered combo lunch meals (Madras vegetables and tikka masala). It was a generous amount of food and delicious as always. We boxed up the leftovers and have enough for both of us for lunch again tomorrow. The staff were courteous and attentive. There were several other tables enjoying lunch. It wasn't too quiet or too loud. We always enjoy coming here. read more

He brought us complimentary tea and ice cream when we were dying because in our stubbornness we all ordered medium spice when we definitely cannot handle that level of heat!! Have had this place twice, once we ate there and then next time got as takeout. First time I asked for mild to medium spice level for my tikka masala and it was definitely mild. My husband got medium and I enjoyed his much more so the next time when ordering takeout I asked for medium, sadly received mild again. Hoping third time will be a charm. I would give six out of five stars if I could. I travel quite a bit, and probably eat at 25 to 30 different Indian restaurants across the United States each year. This one is definitely one of the best I've had in a while. Although the menu contained the usual classics, it had some unique dishes that the chef obviously took some time to create. My pistachio lamb dish was amazing, and the goat cheese naan was a very different, but welcome twist on a classic. I topped with a coconut, cool fee for dessert, and was equally impressed. We were in Hendersonville to visit the AAA Travel Store and decided to have lunch if we could find someplace appropriate. We love Indian cuisine, and after viewing many good reviews of Indian Aroma Bistro, we decided to give it a try. Good choice! They just serve an all-you-can-eat buffet at lunch, but it has a great selection of dishes, either with meat or vegan options. Everything we tried was top drawer and loaded with flavor. The first thing we noted was that there were many people of Indian descent having lunch there. That's always a good sign. If we're in the area around dinner time, we'll go back when we can order off the menu. The staff was friendly, and the restaurant was very clean and attractively decorated as well. read more

While on a girls trip to the Hendersonville area, we were super excited to find this cute little Indian restaurant. They had just put new lights out front and we loved them! My daughter and I shared the chicken tikka masala and it was so delicious! The rice was perfect. The Naan bread was amazing as well. We ordered the garlic naan and the spinach and goat cheese naan. The staff is so friendly, we were sat right away. We had an awesome waiter named Mustafa and he was right on top on everything! He even brought us a chai tea and mango smoothie to try. We tried Indian Aroma on Valentine's Day, without a reservation. They were extremely busy but found a spot for us at the bar. (Thank you!) It's a really cute, pretty small spot, and I immediately fell in love with the hot pink chairs. We tried papadum (crispy and surprisingly flavorful), goa shrimp (delicious with just a hint of spiciness), butter chicken (flavorful and enjoyably spicy), and garlic naan (definitely get the garlic naan). It was all well-seasoned, fresh, and tasty. I'm already looking forward to having my leftovers for lunch tomorrow. read more

This place was packed on a Saturday for their lunch buffet, which usually is a good sign. In this case though it seems mostly due to the limited number of places that do Indian lunch buffets in Hendersonville (I'm pretty sure it's just this one). It's not bad mind you, but nothing really stood out either. If I had to pick the best items I'd say the kale salad and the chickpea salad, and maybe also the chicken pakora -- which is basically an Indian-spiced version of popcorn chicken. Spicing on most entree items was meh. The chicken tikka masala was okay, but the chicken curry was, well, odd. I had heard the aloo (potato) tikka was a standout dish here and was happy to see it as part of the buffet. The taste was pretty good, but the potatoes were undercooked. Food was warm to room-temp. I don't mean to be too Asheville-centric, because there are several good restaurants in Hendersonville, too. But in terms of Indian food in specific, my recommendation would be to drive to Asheville to any of the Indian restaurants there. read more

Very unfortunate that they dropped the lunch buffet during the weekday. We typically went every other week for lunch and now the weekday menu offers very little incentive to continue our visits. The lunch menu is lacking for a variety of reasons. 1) main dishes are less quality than the buffet offered. The lamb saag was 70% onions and the other items on the tray were less than appealing. The samosa was ok but less than memorable, the naan was fine but the rest of the tray was just simply filler. 2) I understand that buffet are financially difficult but there has to be a better way of cutting cost than making lunch 1/5 of the quality from before. 3) Time. We were there for over an hour waiting for food etc. for lunch during the week day. That's too long. 4) clearly it's not working g as we saw 2 couple leave just after arriving and being informed of the change. My suggestion would be to offer an option of multiple items in a single serving/tray. Basically a single plate /serving buffet. I don't want one main protein dish and a bunch of carbs and dips. Otherwise I'll eat elsewhere. We rarely go to Indian for dinner because one item dishes are tiring, that's why the buffet is popular, multiple items so the flavor profile doesn't seem redundant. Hopefully they fix this major mistake and go back to being a lunch destination for us. read more

Lunch buffet is so tasty and an absolute DEAL. Nothing like a delicious curry on a cold day. I did not eat the meat in the buffet, but the vegetable pepper curry and the lentil dal were so good with the puris and the naan. I highly recommend and cannot wait to go back. Dinner service is absolutely worth another the trip. The sauces have been slow simmered and are much richer in flavors and quality than the lunch buffet. A difference in elegance at dinner time too. An Indian food experience so authentic that you actually have to request flatware. Oh yeah, and ice as always, they serve up an amazing buffet with butter chicken, tandoori chicken, and the usual fare. The butter chicken is especially good. Located in downtown so of course you have to find parking and pay for parking but it's well worth the trip. I'd highly recommend swinging by, the service is outstanding. The tandoori chicken is especially unique extremely large pieces. I prefer mine a little bit smaller, and some more of that smoke coming through, but very good and very tender. The atmosphere is decent and they serve a thick mango lassi. If you've never had a mango lassi from an Indian restaurant then you're missing out on life. A solid four stars! read more

Superb! In my Indian restaurant rankings, it finished 2nd in a photo finish (to a restaurant several states away). My wife is Indian so we know our Indian food. The service is great too! Went at lunchtime so it was brightly lit from the many windows. Cute pink chairs modern feeling bar area sparse art for the bigwalls. Service was polite. We came close-ish to the end of their lunch time hours and they were very nice about giving us time to eat and check out. We tried the buffet which often feels like a watered down version of what you would get if you had ordered from the menu. That didn't feel like the case here their offerings were solid. The kale salad with the orange dressing was worth going back for more. The chick pea salad was a balanced blend of salty and tangy. From the curry options nothing was spicy but everything had good flavor and was seasoned well. Definitely save room for dessert. The bread pudding is decadent and the rice pudding is refreshingly sweet and lightly spiced with cardamom. We grabbed a mango lassi to go it was indulgent very thick and perfectly sweet. read more

To be honest, after an exciting start, the food here declined in quality; however, the past 2 visits have been excellent. We dined a couple weeks ago a la carte and the cuisine as good. We used to be regulars here and always appreciated the good food and the hardworking staff. However, we can no longer support this business after seeing how our daughter was treated while working there. She was often overwhelmed by how she was spoken to by management. The work environment was stressful, with constant pressure and little support. It became clear that this was not a healthy place for young employees trying to learn and do their best. We've since noticed that some of the staff have left, and the atmosphere has changed. At the same time, prices have gone up, portions have shrunk, and the food quality, especially the chicken on the buffet, has declined. We truly wish things were different, as we enjoyed coming here. But we can't continue supporting a place that doesn't provide a respectful and supportive work environment, especially for teens just starting out in the workforce read more

We came on a Wednesday. The staff is really attentive and kind. They also are very open to answering questions about the menu. There were 7 of us, so we got a LOT of different foods. The ones that stuck out the most were the Chana masala, paneer, lamb vindaloo, and vegetable samosas. Everything had a great flavor and perfect spice level for what they were. Second Time here got to hit the lunch and was just blown out of the water. 6/5: 16 bucks is very reasonable for a delicious and fresh spread of food Lentil soup was delicious. couldnt help but getting a second cup to enjoy with some Naan Vegan side tried a little of everything which included a healthy mixed green salad again all super fresh and healthy ingredients. Broccoli and Mushroom pakoras, again perfectly cooked and not too greasy, with Tamarind and Mint Chutney and their in house pickles yummy. Chickpeas were really nicely seasoned and they had vegan tika masala and another vegetable vindaloo which my wife enjoyed Tandori was perfectly cooked and seasoned, Tika Masala was great, Id love to see some lamb here at some point in the future but i know its expensive to include on buffet. Two choice for rice including a pilaf and standard basmati. Dinner: Desert: We just loved the rice pudding, had to have 2 bowls Yum Owner was really nice and explained that her family also owns Mela in Asheville which is of course a long time favorite, so no suprprises here and we look forward to coming back again and again. Side note, my wife felt off after eating here but i did not that much, I don't think it is related. I love indian food but have noted this other times eating indian food and not sure if it is related to the high amount of spices or what. Either way, won't stop me from coming back. read more
