Indian Bistro is a solid Indian Restaurant. The people working here are friendly and they give good portion sizes for both the rice and the entree. I tried the Aloo Palak and it was nice and creamy with hearty chunks of potato in it. Really good combination with the basmati rice and the naan. The ambiance of the place is ok though. It is a rather cramped restaurant and service can be slow at times. But look beyond that and this is a decent place to come to for Indian food :) read more

I had dinner tonight at the Indian Bistro and it was amazing! I loved the chicken tikka masala with garlic naan, but I also had the chili cauliflower that was out of this world. It was a small portion given to me as a gift by Madhu, the owner's mother. It was such a lovely experience, and the food is amazing! This was absolutely fantastic food. The staff were super friendly, and recommended butter chicken and lamb curry. May I say for having Indian food for the first time, this was an awesome first time experience. This is not a large restaurant, in fact it's quite small, but quaintly situated in a plaza area. If you're looking for a good Indian restaurant, don't pass this up. I didn't take a photo of our food, although I wish I would have. As a side note, the server also offered to give us extra rice for the sauce we had left, as we had eaten all of the meat that accompanied the dish. By the way, Get the Naan bread as well!! Okay, so for food it's definitely a 4 star. We ordered butter chicken, Tikka chicken garlic naan. The garlic naan is the best I've ever had. The restaurant itself with the ambience and cleanliness is definitely needs improvement. We will eat here again but probably just order takeout. Food pretty good, wait staff incredibly rude. Never coming back. Lamb tikka masala was ok good. Rice was great. Mint chutney was the real thing, not like the liquid most places serve. Naan was ok, but I had to blot it with a napkin, as they poured melted butter on it. The service was horrible. I'll never return. They have the wrong address on their website, which I drove to after I was told they had lunch specials. I called when I arrived, as there was no Indian Bistro! Same person answered. He said to keep looking. I drove all around/nothing. He told me to Google it and asked me to call back later because he was "Busy"! Then I repeated the address, and he said that was the wrong address, even though I got it from the website! No apology. When I finally arrived, he said to sit at any of the 5-6 tables. A cone was blocking 3-4 tabes, so I sat at the one free table. (Warning- it's a huge center, so turn on "walking" on your gps.) Thrvperson I'd been speaking with brought service for 2, even though I said i was alone. He said that's ok and left the extra plate and menu (when dining alone who wants that extra reminder you're alone?) He then proceeded to show me all the possibilities on the menu, when I had already selected my lunch menu; he just kept talking over me. When I showed him the lunch menu, which we'd already addressed on the phone, he looked at his watch (2:45), as the lunch menu closed at 3. I reminded him that it had taken me a half hour longer, due to the wrong address. He said "that's not my fault". I said it was the restaurant's fault and needed to be corrected. Again he stated it wasn't his fault. He then told me to be nice to him, because he was doing his best. I didn't care if the food was slow in coming (it wasn't), so I believe he was chastising me. Maybe I had a grumpy look on my face, but I had said nothing negative,except about the wrong address. While I ate my food, he continued to stop by and say he was doing his best, so I should do my best to be nice to him. I ate in silence, asking only for to-go containers. I went to the bathroom (ok), and the bill was ready for signing. I have Never In My Life not given a tip. But he'd been so rude on the phone and in person, I just couldn't do it (sorry kitchen staff). I did go up to him on my way out and told him the food was good, but I wouldn't be back because he was so rude. He denied it, and tried to change my mind. I said I'm trying to be helpful, and left. I'm writing this in my car parked outside the restaurant. Reflecting- I have Never been treated like that at Any restaurant. I'm a nice person, and treat people with kindness. My quest for an acceptable quality biriyani away from home continues. I can never understand why these run-of-the-mill Indian restaurants pass off something that it is not. Mixing cooked rice with some curried hash does not make it biriyani. What is the harm in having a rice dish on the menu, there's probably 40 or 50 different ones from all over India that you can choose from? Vast majority of them are so easy to prepare! Pathetic of them to pass off these poorly done done food and do such an injustice to a wonderful, aromatic and flavorful dish that biriyani is! Oh another thing.. a request to the owner - please stock spoons that the people can eat with and not expect them to eat with these humongous spoons!! read more

Based on the reviews I really expected to love this place!! But sadly, I wasn't impressed with anything I ordered. Here's what I had: - Chicken Tikka Masala: I found it to almost taste watered-down. it was super bland but with just a kick of spice at the end. It was really odd. There was nothing, no real "flavor". It was sad. - Garlic Naan: Again just boring. It was basic, and the edges were all burnt to black crisp and i hate the taste of 'char', so had to tear all the crusts off in order to eat the middle - Samosa (Veg): was overly-spiced, but again didn't have a basic flavor. It was also kind of mushy on the inside. The exterior was nice and crisp but interior was mushy . I'm really disappointed because i truly was excited to try this place but sadly it just did not live up to the hype. I just moved here from Chicago where there is a fair amount of Indian restaurants. I will continue my quest to find one here that I enjoy. After I get over my initial disappointment i may decide to give them one more chance, but we'll see. Location is in a little strip-mall at the very end. It's easy to miss so you have to be watching. Inside isn't fancy at all, very basic. But to me it's about the food. The best thing about the place was the super-sweet girl working the counter. She really was very friendly and pleasant. One odd thing I noticed while i was waiting was - there was a white American guy working in the kitchen. He was the only other person I saw while i was there. I really hope this isn't the chef. If it is, it might explain why there isn't enough flavor. I guess I would expect a true Indian place to have an Indian chef, but hey, maybe I'm wrong. Unless you've lived in a place and know the culture/history and know how to incorporate all the flavors/spices, i can't imagine that you'd be able to truly understand how to make a dish and the depth of the flavors. That's just not something you can learn in a cooking class. But who knows what the story is. Anyways, I do like to support local places so hey - give it a try for yourself, you may just love it. Hands down , the BEST Indian food I've ever had. So fresh and delicious! I got mild for the level of spicy es which is perfect. A little tang to the touge. I love not only Indian food but foods from across the world. Indian Bistro may have been one of the best authentic meals I have had in the US.
