Chana Masala - very greasy and the chickpeas are hard
    Jessica L.

I was elected to try a new place! Neighbors said they liked it and I wanted to give it a go... Just ordered for lunch some Chana masala and naan. The chickpeas are hard and the sauce is mostly oil. My first bite was a whole cardamom clove. It just is meh at best. The buttered naan was missing... butter. There's better Indian food out there...

    4. Drunken Noodle Thai Iced Tea Chicken Coconut Lemongrass Soup

The food is really just...bleh. Nothing special from this place and I probably wouldn't order it again. On the pro side, the portions are HUGE like one entree can feed two/three people, probably even more. The delivery service was very quick and they honored the expected time. Drunken noodles were mostly spice, not enough of the rest of the seasonings and definitely not enough beef (disappointing since you have pay extra for it). The chicken pad thai was pretty plain with no additional spices. The basil fried rice was also mediocre. The chicken coconut lemongrass soup wasn't the best I've had, but it was ok and full of mushrooms which I loved. Everything here is just pretty OK, but nothing you need to go out of you way for unless you want large portions without that high of taste.

This place is a hidden gem. I got the chicken TK masala with the garlic naan bread and I'm telling you this place checks every box for delicious Indian food. I come here at least once a week and it's so good. I live in Baltimore and my girlfriend lives here in Silver Spring and other than seeing her I always very much look forward to eating at Indian express it is the greatest Indian food around here and they don't get that much business. I have no idea why maybe because people don't know about it but it's so great. If you're looking for some delicious Indian food in Wheaton. You have to at least try this place. It's connected to the Chinese produce market. It's a little hard to find but well worth finding.

Hmm...mixed thoughts on this place. My daughter wasn't feeling well and wanted soup and this place showed plenty of options. I stopped to place an order for carry out and was a little suspect when there was no one in the place (Sat night) and the employees were actually eating dinner. They jumped up to take my order right away. The Woon Sen Soup ($6) was her preference and she ended up really enjoying it - which was great. We decided to order Veggie Spring Rolls ($5) to start and they were pretty well burnt. I decided to go with the Geang Kiew Wan ($12) and while it was okay - it really was more of a soup vs an entree. And the tiny little box of rice was inadequate. Rice is not a big expense....seems like they wouldn't cut corners on that item. Service was quick (but it should be since there was no one else there).

twice i have asked them for no carrots in my food due to a severe allergy and twice they have given me carrots anyway. the carrots aren't even mixed in with the food, they just pile a bunch of carrots on as a garnish. do not order if you have any allergy concerns, they do not care about you. edit: this establishment also refuses to admit they ruined my dish and issue a refund, so in case the owners are curious what "no carrots" looks like at Thai Taste Express, here you go.

i picked up my food last night. The guy was nice, but foods were not as I thought it would be. And as I was eating I felt something hard under my teeth and when I took it out it was a piece of plastic. See pic. A small piece would have been ok,as accident does happen , but that's unacceptable. I don't even know what else i must have eaten without noticing. They just lost a customer.

I can't believe growing up in this area I haven't been to this restaurant. It's on Fern St next to an Asian grocery. Free parking, yes free! Amazing for this area of downtown Wheaton. It's a small local place, very clean and family owned. Our server was really friendly and was super attentive. We ordered appetizers and a couple entrees. Dumplings were very good. Fried dumpling different but good. Panang was very flavorful and a good amount of chicken. I sometimes like my sauce a little less thin. Spice was medium which I think is perfect. Eggplant with Pork was simply exceptional. Perfectly cooked eggplant was a touch sweet, extra onions and pork thin and flavorful. Overall a very good meal and took some home to enjoy for lunch! I will definitely be retuning and took carry out menu with me!

Pad Thai Soft Shell Crab YUMMMMM!!!
    Bernadette P.

My hubby and I tried this place for the first time yesterday and loved it! It is tucked away, next to a grocery store and parking was convenient. They have a great menu which made it hard to pick but we opted out with some Thai food that we were more familiar with like pork skewers, Penang curry and pad thai. We got the soft shell crab pad thai and it was sooo good! The crab was super crispy and lightly breaded. Penang curry was good too that we asked to take the leftover sauce home :) The pumpkin empanadas were the ones that left a very good impression to my tummy. It's a really yummy appetizer... try it! We will definitely be coming back to this place! Maybe even order delivery. I saw a bite squad employee waiting for an order when we were there. Love finding hidden gems like this!

The flavors are authentic, balanced, and clearly made with care. The long-grain Basmati rice is a standout--aged, light, fluffy, and wonderfully aromatic. It has a delicate texture that makes it especially enjoyable and easy to digest. The tandoor-cooked naan is equally impressive: light, fresh, and perfectly prepared, with just the right texture and flavor. Overall, Biryani City is a reliable choice for delicious Indian food. The consistent quality and attention to preparation make it a place I'm happy to return to and recommend to others.

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie... this is some of the best Indian food I've had in the DMV…read more Restaurant is casual and mostly takeout-based, so busy with orders even on weekdays, and the prices are honestly one of the biggest reasons I keep comin back. I'm so sick of paying $25+ for a curry. This place is just a little cheaper ($13-$18 lol), but that difference adds up and makes me way more willing to order here regularly. The boneless chicken biryani puts me into the best food coma every time. It's SO flavorful, especially with all the little sauces on the side (Idk what they are called but I think one is the yogurt raita so yum). The saag paneer and butter chicken have never done me dirty either, and I'm so glad the chicken is actually tender and NOT dry. I order these three dishes as my holy trifecta all the time with a side of their garlic naan, which is some of the best I've had. I also love that they let you choose between Indian and American spice levels. Definitely appreciate having the option depending on my mood. If you plan to eat in, expect informal booth seating and Bollywood music videos playing on three different screens. Such a vibe, I highkey mess with it. My only con is that even if you dine in, they still serve everything in plastic takeout containers. That might actually be a plus for some people, but I've been trying to cut back on single-use plastic. Still... I can absolutely overlook it because the food is that good. I've highkey recommended this place to so many people and have put a bunch of friends onto it. I'll definitely keep coming back. :)

When we were seated, the host lit a table candle. We immediately received water and a plate for sharing of crisp papadums with what I think was a mango chutney. The crackers were crisp and flavorful and the chutney was delicious. A great start. We ordered two appetizers to try them: Mulligatawny soup ($8.99) - a very nice portion came in a bowl accompanied with two cups/spoons. We each had at least two small cups of soup from the one portion. Excellent soup. Samosa Chaat - ($10.99) - another very nice sized portion for sharing. And also excellent. A bit spicy and very flavorful. Entrees: Lamb Shank - beautifully prepared. Accompanied by rice. We both were surprised it didn't come with some vegetables on the sauce (like a few carrots), but the lamb itself is very flavorful. Yellow Daal - it's good. I likely wouldn't get it again as it was fine, but not great. Nothing wrong with it, but everything else was so flavorful and distinctive that this just seemed "fine". Chilly Garlic Naan - should have gotten an order of regular naan or garlic naan. This was so spicy that it was unpleasant to eat. My partner and I both like spicy food, but the spiciness interfered with our enjoyment of our entrees. Again, it's not the fault of the item - it's more of a warning that the spiciness is overpowering. I assume other people like this, but I prefer something that complements as opposed to overpowers (to me). Service was excellent throughout the meal. Full from the appetizers, we took most of the entrees home. Probably will discard the naan, unfortunately. Again, maybe you'll like it. I'm really glad we came here and will be back again.

One thing I can say about this place is: I have never been disappointed! I would say that dining in late at night during the winter, it might be a little bit cold for those who are used to more heated spaces .... In terms of accessibility, if you need an entrance without stairs, then using the front entrance would be the way to go -- and since the parking is in the back and the front entrance is on a major road without parking right there, you would need to go around to the front from the back, which also involves going down an incline using the sidewalk. The rice was even more disappointing -- it tasted old and was hardened into clumps, almost molded into the shape of the container instead of being individual grains.
