A cozy, family-friendly motel with spacious and comfortable rooms. Both the indoor and outdoor pools are heated, making for a relaxing experience even in the winter months. They offer plenty of evening activities for kids, like bingo and ice cream stations, and a hill for sledding/tubing, adding to the family-friendly charm. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted with a table of hot chocolate and cookies--a thoughtful touch! The on-site restaurant and gift shop are super convenient, though it is in a great area and offers shuttle rides to the nearby mountains and ice castles. It is worth noting that breakfast is not included. It's served buffet-style at a fixed price. *Deducted one star because I did leave a noise complaint that continued through the night. The front desk said they would contact the room for them to quiet down but unsure if they did or not since the noise persisted. read more

We stayed here for several days earlier this month as part of a large group. Our room, in the main building, was fine: clean, mini fridge and micro, plenty of closet and drawer space, big enough for us; we were out most of the time. We enjoyed the outdoor heated pool several times. this pool is significantly larger than most hotel pools, so it was possible to swim laps. Later in the afternoon, the shallow end is somewhat shaded, good for those of us trying to avoid too much sun. Meals were buffet style; veggies weren't overcooked which was a pleasant surprise for a buffet; they replenished as needed except for the peach cobbler one evening which they didn't make enough of. Other desserts were plentiful and tasty. Every employee with whom we came into contact was pleasant, cheerful and helpful. We were glad to be in the main building and not have to cross a street at night. Looked at the cabins which would be an option another time: old, but clean and didn't look run down. read more

The dining experience is rough. We ate in one night and were very let down by the meal. We ordered two Caesar salads, neither of which were big enough to constitute a main entree, and the croutons were borderline inedible (stale and chewy). The items on sale in the gift shop are outdated and offensive. I understand that the resort is named after a landmark, but the exploitation of indigenous culture is disturbing. The gift shop sells toiletries and conveniences, but only behind the counter; it's odd that the most easily accessible items are racist iconography rather than sunscreen and bug spray. The teepee displayed out front is authentic, but obviously not local (NE tribes to not use teepees, so why conflate indigenous cultures in such a blatant, gross way?). Again, I came to the resort open-minded, given that the name is derived from a landmark, but the gift shop souvenirs and decorative exploitation of indigenous imagery feels insensitive at best, offensive at worst. The cabins are quaint and well-stocked. The pools are clean and the views are incredible. The staff is lovely, although management is defensive about customer concerns. read more

We stayed there last week on 9/11/25 after over 20 years! It was fabulous. We stayed directly across the street and the room was huge. King bed and full sized bed and a private patio and it had a mini fridge and microwave and the bathroom was meticulous. I had a fall at a restaurant that night due to a wet floor and they walked over two bags full of ice for me. Very accommodating! They have a restaurant and gift shop and game room and outdoor pool heated that was still open. We used to take our kids here that are now 43, 40 & 37! It's a great place. I heard the main resort needs much updating, but I didn't see that and they were packed with customers and it's off season right now, so they're doing something right! read more

Indian Head resort is overpriced and very outdated. The rooms were not worth the money at all. Small, only adequately clean, outdated, with a coffee maker that had a plastic carafe ( never knew these existed) Bathroom is tiny and towels like sandpaper. Water was scalding - surprised children didn't get burnt. The resort itself - again outdated. Most of the paddleboats were broken, the bridge was rickety and the deck needs replacing. Pool is small for the amount of people it serves. Drinks are expensive and food is adequate. The only good thing about this place was the staff. They were friendly, helpful and just nice, willing to do whatever they could to make you happy. They all deserve more money than I bet they get as I bet they are all over on visas and underpaid. Just a guess. I will never return and highly suggest you find somewhere else for your vacation. read more

Just went there this weekend for what they charged us a night (200.00) the cabin was so out dated and and the floor felt weak. Also the restaurant on site menu is low cost food with high prices. We went to breakfast on Saturday and only thing the offered was a buffet at 17.99 a person we went to get food and they were empty we were told we would have to wait 10 minutes for them to refill so many people were waiting for the food. On a positive note, I absolutely loved our server Brian! He gave us exceptional service both mornings and was a pleasure to talk to. Josh and Chris the bartenders were also amazing and made our New Years Eve quite enjoyable! The restaurant manager, Ann Marie (I believe), was truly awful! As a guest I should not be privy to the inner workings of your job. She was openly talking down to and berating all of her staff members while loudly announcing to everyone in earshot that she was not only waiting tables and hostessing but also training staff from Peru. Guess what? No one cares! You aren't anywhere near as important as you want everyone to think you are! Maybe have a team meeting before each shift to address any issues and speak to your staff with respect. I've been in the food service industry for 16 years, and if my manager ever spoke to me in such a disrespectful manner I would immediately quit and report them to the labor board. I overheard several other tables who were also upset about the way she was treating staff. She took an otherwise enjoyable experience and ruined it. I understand that many of the staff were new and foreign, but that is far from okay. Get new management. That woman is awful! The food was decent, the bar was great and I very much enjoyed the New Years Eve entertainment. However, I was extremely overcharged for what I received. Having booked back in July my nightly cost with tax was locked in at $293.87 per night (reasonable), but because of the recently added NYE festivities I was charged an additional $184.45. That seems pretty steep for a buffet dinner, breakfast and a champagne toast! Not thrilled to have been raked over the coals like that. The rooms were clean but dated. I enjoyed the outdoor hot tub and pool. My stay was fun for a trip down memory lane, but I can't say that I will be back. Way too overpriced for what you get. I stayed at Indian Head Resort this past weekend for one night, but I doubt I would ever stay there again. Upon arrival at approximately 3:30PM, we were met with a line at the door, and it took over a half hour to check in, probably 45 minutes plus. Apparently, we were lucky because the line continued to spill out into the parking lot, I can only imaging how long it took others to check in. I just reviewed their check in policy and found this: Check In: 4 PM - Check in time may vary. 4 PM is not guaranteed. They stated our room was not ready, but eventually they found us one. The person checking us in said she didn't know why everyone came in all at once, and they had been there since 2PM. I doubt checking in at 2PM would have worked when they can't even check you in at 4PM. Not a great start, but we dismissed it and continued with our day. We went to our room (across the street) and found it to be clean and comfortable, with a nice view. Nothing special but no complaints. We headed over to the "heated" outdoor pool and found it to be very chilly. It was about 72 degrees out and the water didn't feel much warmer than that. Others in the pool agreed. No one stayed in very long. We decided to warm up in the hot tub, but after one look that was a hard pass! The water was very cloudy and unappealing. Next was dinner and I have to say it was one of the worst dinning experiences of my life. We brushed off the lengthy check-in, cold pool and dirty hot tub, but this dinner was our breaking point. The service was non-existent, and the food was horrible. We sat for a very long time before anyone even came to our table, and it wasn't busy at all. The first thing we tried to order they were out of, so we decided just to order a pizza. I bet we had been seated well over an hour before we got the pizza. We each agreed it was horrible and had trouble finishing one slice. We had been chatting with other guests about the experience and ended up giving them our pizza. Everyone concurred about how awful the restaurant was. Bottom line, if you take away the pool, hot tub and restaurant, it can hardly be considered a "Resort". What you are really getting is an outdated, overpriced motel room. read more

Staff was great, Mtn View cabin very dated and strong mold smell. We all felt sick by checkout on Sunday. One groundskeeper thought he was a bad @$$ Otherwise we liked everyone. Rehab it and we might be back. The bathrooms are in poor shape. I can't speak for other cabins, but this one shouldn't smell moldy with bad bathrooms for the money we paid. 4 out of 6 adults felt sick on Sunday due to the mold. read more

Stayed here with my family on a trip to see the ice castles /ski. I don't recommend it. The bed was comfortable but carpets and bathroom in the room were old and dirty. Parking was only offered against the building with signs that say "danger:falling ice, park at your own risk." You could hear the falling ice all night, I was concerned what my car would look like in the morning. The indoor pool is small, outdated, dimly lit and cold. Both indoor and outdoor pools were overrun with poorly behaved/ screaming older children and teens. Restaurant seemed totally overwhelmed. We will not be back. read more

Long time visitor since 1995. Since COVID they have had challenges. To expect it would be the same post COVID is a stretch. They are doing everything to stay above water so this likely means colder pools and less amenities. I still love it as a destination but will be focused on broadening our horizons. I love this place. It has a great pool, hot tub, and sauna. It has a little lake. It's right near all the hikes and close to the water park. Less than a mile from town. I come here after a long hike, but it's super kid friendly and I'm currently planning a trip to bring my family here. read more

In the 60+ years of visiting annually we have become accustomed to the lack of maintenance and upkeep. The staff has always been friendly and the buffet breakfast has always been quite satisfactory. The last 10 years or so however the price of a stay and food has become ridiculously high. The biggest drawback to date is that they are NOT pet friendly. At the very least pets should be allowed to stay in the cabins. Being a mountain resort one would think they'd appreciate animals a little more. Needless to say we won't be staying there until this policy changes. read more

Stayed at Indian Head Resort again last weekend, and seriously, it never gets old! I've been coming here for years, and it's still my favorite place. The views are amazing (especially with the foliage!!), and I can't get enough of the outdoor hot tub. The staff are always so nice, it's just one of those places that feels like home. VERY poor customer service: 1. Our wall thermostat did not work and the promised fix never happened. They said they had no other rooms. 2. They promised us a full menu and they said the bus tours had a separate dining area. There was only the one dining room and the only thing available was the buffet for the tour groups. (It was only OK and required waiting in line). 3. I had to go get my credit card to pay for dinner as they couldn't (or wouldn't) bill to my room. 4. I left behind a jacket. It took 4 phone calls before anyone called back (3 days later) and they would only send me my jacket if I gave them a credit card so they could bill me "shipping costs". On one of my calls I was transferred to Housekeeping whose "mailbox was full". Other than customer service: 1. The location is very, very nice. Views are spectacular from most of the rooms. 2. Rooms are clean and reasonably modern. 3. Wi-fi is free and works well. 4. Access to areas within the resort are awkward at best. One of us is mobility challenged and the only access to the pool took us outside, through the entire dining room, then through the game room and past the exercise room. Access to the front desk also requires going outside, whatever the weather. 5. Standard rooms seem to mostly have double beds, not queen. read more

I am soooooo sad to say this cuz I was hoping to come up here with my mom and kid this summer for a girls trip and this is where me and my family vacationed every year when I was a kid and we just adored this little The bar/lounge used to be in a separate area, but over the years they moved it into the beautiful restaurant area, so there was really loud live music about 2 feet from our table. I thought ok this isn't ideal but the view Is still amazing. Then I see the menu and.......all the stuff that used to be amazing has been removed, and replaced with not such great options . We decided instead of getting the big extravagant meal to just getting appetizers. And a burger for my bf The waitress seemed either really new or really slow. After about 20 minutes of waiting for her to come over to take drink orders (the restaurant was empty, she had one other table) by the time she did we already knew what we wanted to order so we ordered it right then cuz we were trying to get back to the dog as fast as we could. My bf ordered a burger, and I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a spinach and artichoke dip , then I was told the spinach dip was gone, so I ordered something els . So another 20 minutes go by , still no clam chowder , still no drink , the waitress to the table next to us ( those ppl got seated after us btw) checked on them 3 times , and got them they're drinks right away , and when she brought them they're drinks, I hear her say " and your spinach and artichoke dip will be right out" so they did have the dip I attempted to order , that was annoying. Finally our waitress comes over and tells us they do have the dip , that she canceled the pretzels . We were like Oh cool. That's awesome that she did that...........but then the food literally didn't come out for another 40 minutes, and she gave us the pretzels for free cuz they had already made them but they tasted like they just got out of the microwave. The artichoke dip was cold, and my bf's burger was so soggy on the bottom it was falling apart . Because we were now in a rush when we got our food that we asked for the check right then, and ordered 2 pieces of strawberry shortcake to go ( because the amazing chocolate mouse cake they used to have is GONE from the menu....) and we stated we were kind of in a rush now cuz at this point wede been away from the dog for like an hour and a half and were just trying to eat real quick and leave . We put the debit card with the bill and stated eating , the entire time we were eating she never came back to check us out , she never brought the deserts out, she was no where to be found for another 20 minutes or so , finally she comes out and starts talking to her ONE other table for a good 15 minutes , her back turned to me and my bf the entire time, finally he walked up to her With the bill and was like "can we please just pay, we kinda gotta go,"as we already stated. She starts saying that she was just waiting on our deserts to be ready to ring us out, why? I have no idea , cuz that completly defeats the purpose of me ordering deserts and asking for the bill as soon as we got our food was to pay while we eat, grab our deserts and go as soon as we're done eating . That WAS the plan......was.... So finally after chasing her down (again we were one of 2 tables of hers) she tells us she'll meet us up front with the deserts ( we tipped 20% btw even though we deff shouldn't have at all, we basically enabled her horrible job by doing so, that's on us) . We meet her up front. She comes out With the deserts, were like OMG FINALLY 2 hours later! So as we're RUNNING to the car , my bf opens up the strawberry shortcake.......and this was the icing on the cake. And unfortunately I do not mean literally . Strawberry shortcake is a pretty simple desert to master. POUND CAKE- STRAWBERRYS- WHIPPED CREAM. But apparently they think a frozen Pillsbury biscuit, (YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT! no pound cake, instead you get a biscuit. I guess they think they are KFC?) and a cup of strawberries is the same thing as strawberry shortcake , no whipped cream, cuz they think whipped cream is over rated I suppose? So 7.99 a piece for a frozen biscuit and some strawberries. This was possibly one of the worst experiences I've ever had going out to eat, and it USED to be one of my best experiences at the exact same place. I don't know if this downfall is pandemic related but I SO hope one day this place goes back to being what it used to be . Until then , we will probably not be back. read more

This place has a lot of potential; beautiful location near mountains, A big back lake you can paddle board in, and some cool cottages but unfortunately the experience wasn't as good this time around. The biggest issue here was the staffing. We're in the unfortunate era of every place being short staffed which hurts the guest experiences overall. The first issue faced here was the dinner service. Sunday evening they open for dinner; we come in first and are told they are short staffed. Okay but the service we got was abysmal. We were waited on by a really nervous waiter who barely spoke English and had to ask us to repeat ourselves several times. It took over an hour for us to get dinner and despite him asking us to repeat things, he still got my sister's order wrong. Worse was there were people who came in after us, got their meal and left before we even got our dinner! Completely unacceptable. The manager took one of the items off the bill but had to help the nervous waiter out. I actually felt sorry for him. The breakfast buffet was really good! For the amount of food you can choose from, the price was reasonable. They don't service breakfast Tuesdays and dinner Mondays and Tuesdays for that matter which was disappointing. The website does advertise that. Staffing issues sure but for the prices we are charged and having breakfast and dinner located right at the resort conveniently, it's a big letdown. The prices should be lower if certain services can't be provided everyday. The cottages are cool but you need the right one. Some are really rundown. The hotel rooms are pretty nice and have a good view. However my room was never cleaned by house keeping. Staffing issues. Yes I get it, but these things need to be figured out. My advice is if you don't have enough staff, either lower your prices or only book enough people you can handle even if it means not being fully vacant. Overall I'd say this place was mediocre at best. It definitely is a shell of its former self as I heard it had a lot more to offer back in the day. Having two pools was cool though and one being indoors was a nice touch. If you're on a tight budget though, I'd pass. read more

When we arrived we were told we were "across the street". We were not happy we were not in the main building. When we got to our room it was 41 degrees. We had tried to adjust the heat and were not at all satisfied with the overall condition of the room. We had driven back to the lobby and asked for a different room and they told us no. They would only give us another room if the handy man couldn't get our heat to work. So we had to wait for the handyman to go to the room and check to see if things were working. We asked to be moved to another room that was warm so we could unpack as it was about 830 at night. Again they refused and said we would have to wait for the room to heat up and only if the heat didn't work they would move us. Terrible customer service if you ask me. The rock. Should have been checked prior to our arrival. We should not of had to wait an hour and a half for our room to heat up. After leaving and going to get some food and burn some time so the room could heat up we returned and the room was still 56 degrees. The room was not at an appropriate temperature until close to 1130 at night. Unacceptable, and probably violates some type of code. The receipt from Expedia explains NO REFUNDS at all. No exceptions. Seeing that we already paid almost $600 for a hotel for the weekend we had to suck it up and get through the weekend. The pictures of the rooms for this hotel are not at all what we experienced and customer service was poor in accommodating us. After that initial encounter with the man who was working when we checked in we knew the hotel would do nothing for us. I can honestly say the experience that we had was so bad I will not be going back there. The door to the room was in such bad shape there was a 1/2 in gap under the door and we had to use a towel and 2 pillows to stop the cold from coming in. The hotel room was in such poor repair the pictures show it. Mold in the bathtubs, damaged heating, dirt and dust all over the drapes, urine stained on the toilet, shower rod hanging on by a thread. For nearly $300 a night this was a scum hotel, I have gotten a better experience with red roofs and motels than this alleged "resort". Shameful. read more

Grounds are beautiful and well kept, paddle boats and fishing are fun extras at a hotel. Rooms are old, rundown and have musty smell. Staff is rude, and all have the same excuse they are short staffed. No food available during our stay, had to go visit some of the other great places in Lincoln. It saddens me to leave this review as I have been staying here since I was a child, I then started to bring my children and sadly I think this will be our last overnight at The Indian Head. read more

This place has beautiful views of their little lake in the back and yes, I did hike around the back part of the resort where there's a lake and beautiful foliage all around. It was a rather romantic setting. The restaurant had great views of the lake as well if your room faces the other way. They had hot tubs and pools for you to use as well, but we never got to it. The rooms are comfortable but pretty simple and typical for a 3 star hotel. This place has such potential if they just update the rooms a bit more. read more

The resort has had its glory days in the past. Today it was like Kodiak Valley ski resort from HotTub Time Machine. It was run down with bad odder in the room. The indoor pool had so much chemicals that everyone was coughing. At $250 a night I will go to a nicer place. It's sad to see it fall to such disrepair. It needs a makeover and then this place could be rocking. Add a couple more outdoor hottubs and remake all the rooms and this place could shine. read more

Have stayed here before so we booked it again this year. Staff at the front desk were exceptional. We got to our cabin and it was very dated but not too bad until we got into the bathroom. The floor was slanted, due to that , there was a big opening on the floor that we had to roll and put a towel against because the cold air was coming in and you could put your fingers through to the outside of the cabin. Subfloor was all squishy and were afraid we would fall through it. The place definately needs some repair and upkeep read more

I really hate leaving low marks because it means I did not receive good value for the exorbitant prices for a run down place. The saving grace was we stayed in the newer motel. Why not put two kings in a room? Why not take care if the room each morning? The restaurant, ordered a greek salad cane with ranch dressing and it was warm high priced low quality. Had blueberry pancakes one morning, they were very good. Never again! Kudo's to Donna at check in she did everything in her power to make improvements happen for us. read more

Dining room was closed the whole time we were there - I think. There was no signage to tell when it would open. Bathroom was DARK. A brighter lightbulb would enable guests to actually see in the shower. And I called - twice - for new non-ripped linens for the pullout couch. They never arrived. So it was okay. UPDATE: While we have not been back, the management did reach out, they did refund us our stay as well as offered us another stay on them. I'm only giving 1 Star Bc I have to give something... worst experience ever. We rented the Mtn View House for the NYE weekend and what I was told when I booked it was not what I was told when we arrived. Was told dinner buffet was included but when we arrived we were told it wasn't and it would cost an additional $40/person .... btw, another person checking in was also told the same thing and having the same argument. We check into the house and it's a NIGHTMARE... 2 inch gap between the bottom of the main door and the floor meaning the snow and freezing cold air is coming in.... draftiest house ever... had the heat up to 90 the entire time and it still didn't get over 62. Towels shoved around all the doors/windows. Kitchen chairs were all broken, couch had exposed metal that ripped clothes, 2 stove burners didn't work, vent hood didn't work and 2 of the 3 bedrooms were INFESTED with lady bugs... downstairs bathroom appears to have a mold pI told them about the lady bugs and issues and it was like it was nothing to them. Checked out with a list and again , nothing. When you pay $400/ night you expect to get something out of it.. the ONLY positive was the other family we were with. We'll never go back. read more

The main draw here (for me) was the location. The motel is located about 2 minutes from Franconia Notch State Park, specifically near the Flume Gorge trail. It is also about 3 miles north of Lincoln, NH. It is quite close to I-93 also. Pricing when we stayed was just under $100 per night. The property is spread across both sides of the highway (U.S. 3). They have 2 restaurants on site (I think, though we didn't eat there). In warmer weather, they have a small pond with paddle boats available as well as a swimming pool. The tennis courts were pretty beaten up, but were probably play-able. Parking was never an issue while we were there. Rooms open onto the parking lot (vs. an interior hallway). Noise was not an issue here for us; it was fairly quiet. They do not include breakfast in the room rate, and they do not start serving breakfast until ~ 7:30 a.m. The dinner restaurant looked to be comparable to or slightly higher-priced than many restaurants in Lincoln. The staff was friendly and helpful in my limited interaction with them. Another novelty here is a ~ 100-foot fire tower that you can climb for scenic views (especially nice when the leaves change in the Fall). It costs $1 to ascend. This was a good base for exploring the area. It is a fairly basic motel and is priced accordingly. If I were to return, armed with what I learned in my first trip, I might shop around further in the area to see what other options there are. However, I wouldn't rule out returning here, either. read more

Made reservations and specifically asked if they would be serving breakfast and dinner. Upon arrival 4 days later, no dining was available. Understandable but, no phone call or email? WTF Front desk offered no options. I called a taxi but they stopped service 9:00pm ( was now 8:00) and they didn't deliver food. Dispatcher was kind enough to mention Imperial Chinese in North Woodstock would deliver to Indian Head. I highly recommend their food and service! Outstanding. We were the only ones in the restaurant waiting to get our diet cokes then finally told the wait staff waited 40 minutes I got the pizza and my wife got the chicken parm both were horrible and very pricey. We had been here in the past prior to 2015 for 10 years in a row. It used to be top notch food and wait service. Sorry to say will not be back. Never post reviews but thought I would to warn people...Pictures look nice online but it's not at all representative of what the place is actually like. Our first room has food in the fridge, which wasn't a big deal but they offered to move us to another larger room. This room looked great, however I quickly noticed a very large BEDBUG hanging out on the pillow of the bed. Where there's one there's thousands. I'm assuming probably in other rooms as well. We got out of there and got a refund, but I just felt bad for other people staying there not knowing the risk!! read more

Let's start with arriving, opening the door to the fridge and finding another guests old food items....oh it gets better! We started with NO wifi..this is 2023 people, wifi is like hot and cold water; we all use it, it's essential. We opted to turn on the television while they figured out the wifi issue. The TV wouldn't turn on, and when we did get it turned on, the sound wouldn't work. We tried other channels, sound was on. I used my own batteries to jump start the TV remote and we were in business. Now for finding out about the progress on the wifi! I tried to dial from their telephone...nothing, no dial tone. But if I HELD the cable real hard in the back of the phone, I got a scratchy dial tone! But it didn't matter because no one picked up for over an hour and when the front desk gal did answer, I said I had been trying her for an hour, she shot back, "Maybe because I'm the only person answering all these calls! I'll tell them about the wifi." I took a shower to ease the tension but the shower was shooting water from both the shower head and the faucet. LOUD banging was heard through the early evening hours..maybe it was the angry tech engineer slamming away at the routers! We can't go back. I would need psychiatric care, post haste. They should pack it up. The place is dated and old and the paddle boat life preservers all have holes and straps missing; so you'll feel safe for a moment before you go under wearing nothing but a broken strap. The food was okay if you like a full salad on a tiny plate; and french fries under cooked. What else? They tell you "Welcome to the famous Indianhead Resort....I think they're serious! read more

Went here for our 50th wedding Anniversary...SO disappointed. The only thing nice about the room was the bed. Outside on (I guess porch) was so dirty did not want to sit out there. The room was old and dated. Bathroom needed a really good cleaning and some TLC. TV was confusing and no instructions on how to use it. Lighting was awful. Their restaurant and bar area was nice. For the money we paid, and the fact they call themselves a "Resort" we felt really cheated. Will NEVER go back or recommend to anyone. read more
