Way over rated place. The food quality was mediocre at best. We went at 2:00 PM for the buffet and the starters were empty and had to let them know to refill. There was a chat item with peas in it which did not get refilled till we left. A couple of entrees also were not refilled in the buffet. Other than collecting the money for the buffet and letting me in for the table there was absolutely no one that checked in for any other service. The worst thing that really put me off is the person that led me to the table kept talking in Hindi - did not care that I did not know Hindi. We catered our community Diwali party through Indian Hotspot, and it was a great experience overall. The event was for about 100 people, and Raj worked closely with us to create a menu that suited an event lasting over six hours. We carefully planned the appetizers, main course, and desserts to ensure both kids and adults enjoyed the food. At the start, some guests mentioned that the tea didn't taste quite right, but Raj quickly resolved the issue by sending a fresh batch, which was appreciated. Although it wasn't onsite catering, a staff member from the restaurant was present throughout the event to assist with setup, ensure smooth operations, and manage cleanup, which was a big help. The food quality and variety were excellent, and many guests asked where it was from so they could order for their own events. I was one of their first customers when they opened but stopped going because I found their food to be average. Recently, a friend recommended I go back and try their fresh jalebis, made right in front of you. I was excited to give it a second chance. Last Friday, we visited to see the fresh jalebis being prepared. After waiting for a new batch, my husband paid inside, and a staff member brought two boxes out shortly after. The jalebis looked delicious, so I couldn't resist trying one right away in the car. But to my surprise, they were stone cold. It was disappointing to realize that these weren't fresh as expected. I can't be sure, but it felt like the box may have been switched inside. We ordered 2 pounds, and it wasn't cheap, but what bothered me more was feeling misled. Very disappointed. A friend and I have been doing a "tour" of all Indian buffets in the area. This one is by far the most expensive, and on top of their already highest-priced buffet in the area, they add a 6% "surcharge" for "food waste." Why not just raise the already high price by 6%? Maybe they think people wouldn't come in if they knew the buffet is really $27.50, not $26.00? Feels insulting and smarmy to me. The ambiance is like being in a candy store in a 1940s Hollywood movie (think The Good Ship Lollipop with Shirley Temple). Very "sweet," although it is attractive and there are some very nice features aesthetically. The buffet is huge, so big that even if you take only a tiny portion of the things you want to try, it is too much. And unfortunately, neither my friend nor I thought any of it was good. While neither of us are Indian, we are both long-time mega-fans of Indian food, and she lived in India for a couple of years, so we feel we have some creds for our opinions. Both of us were very disappointed and agreed there was no chance we would go back. As for service, there was none, not even someone coming by and asking if everything was alright or if there was anything they could get us. Even at buffets I always tip. Here I did not as there was literally nothing that could be construed as service. The place was nearly empty so this certainly wasn't a function of being overwhelmed with customers. The company seems high-tech. You can't speak to anyone on their listed phone number, only listen to an automated message. Maybe I am just a Luddite, but I still think it's nice to have some human contact. Overall, not a good experience. Too bad as it is a nicely appointed restaurant, if a bit "sweet". Finally, an unsolicited bit of advice to the horde of people who complained about abominable service on Mother's Day: This is true not only at this restaurant, but at all restaurants. NEVER go out on Mother's Day. Go the day before or the week after. Visiting my friend in San Ramon, we ended up driving to Indian Hotspot. Right at the entrance we read the disclaimer to slow service though we were ready to sit down and eat. The moment we enter we see some amazing ambience, very well put together interiors and a calmness that just prevailed all over. We were asked to settled down in a comfort and cosy seating and it was a bit before our order was taken. We ordered Hyderabadi Paneer and Dal Mkahani with a couple of Naans. After a bit, the order was served and boy the dishes were delicious. Paneer so soft and not at all overly done while the curry being just perfect with spices. Dal Makhani was amazing too and the Naan was made to perfect crisp. We ended up ordering a couple more Naans (Garlic) and as well along with that a few items to go which included Karhai, Palak, Hyderabadi Paneer along with a few Naans and as well Onion Kachori. Rajveer was an amazing host throughout and all in all this is a place you can't miss if you happen to be in San Ramon and are looking for some quality Indian food. Yum for real!!! read more

No idea we had such an authentic lovely restaurant like this near home. The butter chicken was out of this world with the garlic naan and rice. The Samosa was a good too. This is our go to for this dish. This time we came and had the buffet. Again well done as we discovered the lamb which was so tender. No idea how good this would be. Me and my friend were still eating and I was clearly still finishing up my dessert when one of the servers approached us and told us "If it's okay, if you're done eating could you leave so that others who are waiting to be seated can be seated?" Upon reading other reviews it seems their takeout is horrible! Decided to order takeout here and got a butter chicken combo. It stated in the description it came with rice, naan, and butter chicken. I only received 2 pieces of naan and an EXTREMELY small bowl of butter chicken. I also ordered one of their fresh juices, but was called and told they didn't have it. Instead they gave me a different, cheaper juice. They did not ask if I wanted a refund. The food isn't bad, but I go to other Indian places that are so much cheaper with way bigger portions. Great Punjabi food in San Ramon. The Naan's and tandoori roti were exceptional . Thin and crispy outside and not very heavy . Their Daal and allu gobi is very good . Tried Bukhara malai kofta & Desi goat curry . The makai kofta was in a slightly sweet cashew gravy with cream . The goat curry was like bhuna gosht . Fried with onions / ginger garlic . The server didn't understand English and the chef took our order. Spoon wasn't washed properly and had food on it, asked server to change the spoon. The Raj kochori was just a hype. Completely filled with yogurt and soggy stale bhallas. The chef recommended 'joshila jaljeera' - it was straight up pani puri water with sparkling water.
