After being seated, we were advised that they were not serving a la carte lunch and our only option was the buffet @ $29.99 each! [Just for comparison, Yellow Chilly and Kabila are around $20 each.] As we had driven from different cities, we decided to stay and do the buffet. Food was ok, nothing memorable. Service was non-existent. For $30, one gets plastic plates and has to hunt for the servers to bring fresh naan's to the table. To add insult to injury, besides adding service charge (for buffet!), we also discovered a "wastage charge" , I think, of $4 each. This is not listed anywhere that we could see. Indian Hot Spot honestly surprised me in the best way. The inside is super nice and feels very upscale and modern. I really liked that they have desserts and other items you can buy inside, which adds to the whole experience. They also have a restaurant party area. I've seen they host parties and events, and I've been wanting to go to one but haven't been able to yet. Hopefully soon. The food was really good overall. I especially liked their naan, it was soft and flavorful. The pani puri was a little lowkey stale, but not too bad. I've been to this restaurant many times and it used to be my favorite Desi buffet place (see my previous review). Based on the prior experiences, we decided to come here for Mother's Day and it was absolutely horrific. When we entered, there was a sea of humanity with people all crowded at the front check in area trying to get on the waitlist. The female hostess told us to join on the iPad and told us the anticipated wait for a party of 3 would be 35-40 minutes. We followed her instructions and went back to the car to wait. About 45 minutes later, we were notified from their system that our place was 1st in line. By the time we went inside, it said the table was ready. Once we got inside, the crowd had tripled. Everyone was trying to figure out the process and or get seated. The male manager and female hostess did absolutely nothing to try and alleviate the crowd by suggesting people could go outside or by actually helping them with their questions. The male manager yelled at the hostess and then began yelling at the customers, myself and my elderly parents included. People were sandwiched like sardines. We explained to the male manager that we were notified that the table was ready and he kept saying wait, wait!!!!, while proceeding to seat parties of 12, 8 and 5 people. Then, he pulled out a paper list and asked us where our phone number was. We explained that we followed the instructions from the hostess. He told us we were lying and had not been on the waitlist. He was rude, demeaning and disrespectful to my parents, let alone me. While running around and screaming, both the male manager and female hostess ran into customers, including my parents. My dad nearly lost his balance from getting shoved by the male manager and my mom was knocked on her nose by someone's elbow. It was a complete safety disaster as elderly people were getting pushed and shoved by the staff/management and the crowd. After waiting an additional 25 minutes (AFTER we had been notified that the table was ready) and trying to explain ourselves to no avail, we left. It still makes no sense to me how we followed their system and never got seated when our turn came. We also realized that the people who managed to get seated ended up standing in a large line just to get their food. In reading the other reviews from the same day, it's clear that most if not everyone had an unpleasant experience. It's also unfortunate that this was on Mother's Day. I reached out to the owner directly before writing this review. I explained my concerns. He asked what I wanted. Given that we've gone there so many times in the past, I asked for an apology from the two staff members to my parents as well as complimentary buffets for the three of us. He said instead of the staff apologizing, he apologizes. Then he asked me whether I contacted him for an apology or for a free buffet. The dismissive demeanor he exhibited was the icing on the cake. He made it seem like extending a complimentary buffet was unreasonable and at that point I told him forget it. His questioning made me feel cheap, like the sole purpose was to get free food. The point of extending a free buffet would have been to rectify a horrible situation they created themselves. It was because they failed to seat us and provide us a meal after we followed THEIR system. Needless to say, we won't be going back and I won't be recommending this place to anyone again. It's truly unfortunate to see so many similar bad reviews for this restaurant because they failed to treat their customers with respect, care and concern. read more

Chaat tastes like Delhi street style with the strong dry ginger aroma! Their mocktails are unique, flavorful and not sugar syrups that other's make. The food- has no added color! The curries were good. The veg meatballs were cold. The lassi and lime water tasted off a bit. Something was not right. Chai was good. The carrot halwa was oily. The fish and pani puri was good. The lack of stars is more for the fact that it clearly states 90 minutes are given per party to dine in. We came at 12:34 pm l, party of 8, paid $257 prior to eating. At 1:31 pm the host came and told us we had to leave because they had people waiting outside. Piece of shit customer service. Do better because that was horrible. This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I had made a reservation for Mother's Day four days in advance. However, when we arrived, the hostess (Lady in front) claimed they were not taking reservations even though my name and phone number were clearly listed on her note book. She was very rude and told us we would have to wait 30-40 minutes. I understand it was a busy day, but her attitude was unacceptable. Eventually, we were seated, and surprisingly, they collected payment before we even started eating. Most of the food trays were empty. My daughter got chili chicken that wasn't fully cooked, and it was very difficult to get a second serving of anything. By the time it was our turn in line, many of the dishes were either still empty or took a long time to be refilled. They also advertised a buffet with 40+ items, but I honestly didn't see even close to that number available. The food variety was lacking, and so was the service. We didn't even get water. The jugs on the table were empty, and when I asked a staff member to refill them, he said "hold on" and never came back. They didn't even provide basic service like water. As we sat there on the table, I noticed a waiter placing glasses of water to customers on the next table. I told him to bring us water as well. He refused saying it's only for 'a La carte' orders and not for buffet orders. The I told him that by brother ordered a La carte as well. He goes back and brings a single glass of water only for my brother and not for me! This is ridiculous service. I find out later that buffet customers can only take water in small cheap paper cups, even though they are the higher paying customers. This restaurant has such a ridiculous policy. No greeting skills. No manners. She sat me outside in the cold where it wasn't set up and I was constantly being interrupted by squirrels wanting to attack my good plate. Went to a dinner vegetarian buffet on Saturday. Waiting time was not too bad. Ambiance - Very beautiful decors and the vibe was awesome. Food - Wow. Really enjoyed every dish. They had a good variety of choices. Appetizers had good choices, and the main menu too. Dessert was too yummy. Gulab jamun was very unique and tasty. A complete disaster buffet experience! The quality was far below even "subpar." Despite the lack of food and proper seating, they kept cramming guests in, creating a frustrating experience. After a long wait, all you're left with are empty trays. Most of the food trays were empty(around 80%). Looling for a saturday night dinner with friends for a good Indian meal, we decided to give this place a try. Away from the downtown of San ramon and tucked away in a strip mall with plenty of parking, it was surprisingly spacious and brightly lit. Going inside we thought this was definitely a good option. No waiter came to the table at all and despite it being relatively empty at 5.30, one of us had to finally get up and find the menus from the bar area. They did have an extensive weekend all you can eat buffet that was well presented for $26 vegetarian options or $28 non veg The a la carte was fairly decent but weirdly and unknown to us since we had to find the menu there was another seperate chaat and drinks menu. The food was flavourful and rich (albeit a bit greasy for some dishes) and the naan perfectly soft. Unfortunately, no one at all came to wait on us. We had to ask for our order to be taken twice. We had to ask for tableware. And 3 times had to call a waiter for water glasses. Bearing in mind the place was not full. For parties of 4 or more there was an 18% gratuity which was ridiculous given the fact on one actually waited on us or served us. We went for lunch on 01/01/2025. It took two hours to get our food, which was just a regular two-thali order. The waiters were very rude and made no apology whatsoever. The food was served on a plastic plate, unlike before when the plates were of good quality. The food was nothing like before, with too much masala and little flavor. The only good thing was the drinks - sugarcane and Jal-Jeera. Even for the bill, we had to wait 15 minutes, and the restaurant was not busy. Way over rated place. The food quality was mediocre at best. We went at 2:00 PM for the buffet and the starters were empty and had to let them know to refill. There was a chat item with peas in it which did not get refilled till we left. A couple of entrees also were not refilled in the buffet.
