We went to a mother's day brunch at the Hon Dah Casino with friends who invited us. The brunch was in the Indian Pine Restaurant that is behind the casino. The restaurant is so beautiful and very clean. It had lovely paintings and carvings. It was very inviting. We were greeted and shown to a table. It took a while for someone to take our drink order and since we ordered alcohol, it came from the casino. I asked if they had a Prosecco but I got a blank stare, so I said any bubbly drink. She went to ask then, after a while l, came back and said they had a moscato which was the closest to my request. (?) I just got a glass of wine since my drink order seemed to be holding up everyone else's. We finally got drinks and decided to go get cheese and crackers for the table while we enjoyed the drinks but, by then, the guys were so hungry we all just went to get food. The food was ok. They had a beef Wellington, which I love, but I ended up with an end cut which was dry. The fish was ok but there was no potato crust. Just random, stray potatoes on top the fish. There were some tasty side dishes. The dessert bar was large including some sugar free desserts. I had a teeny slice of a couple pies. (Yes, Russ-all those PIES! :). I likes some more than others. They were as good as pies at other buffets I've had. I'm glad I got to try the buffets at Hon Dah. Maybe it was a bit busy since it was Mother's Day which may have affected service. I'm not really a fan of buffets so I doubt if I would go back.

The chicken wing were very good but certainly not worth over $16. This restaurant is very overpriced.

We took home a dozen wings again tonight and they were perfect. Half drums and wingetts. Cooked perfectly. U got it.

My husband and I went to try this on the fish Friday. We hadn't been here before and didn't realize when you arrive you have to put your name on a list to be seated. But a nice guest informed us. After we got our name on the list, we were seated pretty quickly and didn't have to wait long. The staff was really nice and the food was as good as we have been hearing about for years. We did the buffet and were glad that word of mouth has been so right. Everything was delicious. And for a buffet type restaurant, it wasn't very loud even though it was busy. We will definitely be back.

Good food at fair price. Salads are fresh. Burgers are enormous and fish fry has 5 large pieces.

Not a single smile in the place from employees. I'm sorry I didn't get the names of the two people who were at least helpful.

When we learned that Sweetheart had closed and Monica's Cafe had taken over, we decided to make the drive while visiting Show Low from Gilbert during a forest vacation. The decor was modest, rustic, and charming, with a blend of Native American touches and old country western character. The walls were minimalist, but in a way that felt intentional. It did not need to try too hard. As a vegetarian, trying a new restaurant is always a bit of a gamble. You never know whether food is cooked in oil or lard, whether rice or soup has meat-based stock, or whether something that looks vegetarian has hidden meat worked into it somewhere. It can be a tricky line to walk. We drove about 30 minutes to Monica's Cafe hoping for a good meal, and this place absolutely did not disappoint. Honestly, I think the reason the place feels so simple is because they have clearly put their energy where it matters most: the food. I ordered the veggie omelet with added tomatoes, a side of hollandaise sauce, and a pancake on the side. It was surprisingly excellent. After nearly every bite, I kept thinking that the food from this small cafe should not be this good. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and far exceeded expectations. Next time we are in the area, we will absolutely be coming back. I definitely recommend Monica's Cafe to anyone looking for a great meal in Show Low.

Notably, unlike most restaurants, it was not overly salty, and perfectly crispy. Hash browns ordered crispy, arrived perfect. Generous portions, great service and reasonable prices. Tara was our bartender and she was great and filled us in on all the town gossip and some history behind Charlie Clark's Steakhouse. I made the sashimi peppers..and the French Dip and my GF had the Tri Tip Tacos.. ... Pretty good sandwich and peppers. I have only eaten there for dinner so this was a different experience. Always enjoy visiting Charlie's.. And Tara gave us some Cousy's from Charlie's Wedding Anniversary.. Food won't be out of this world but the overall ambiance and service fills some of the gaps. It's a bit pricy but what you can expect in the area. We went for Thanksgiving and they offered their full regular menu on top of a turkey special. One of my biggest pet peeves, not one mention of service charge included. At least we had an itemized check and this was visible. At the end of the day it's still a cool local establishment to enjoy the evening to hang out pressure free.
