Friendly staff, order steak under your temp I got a ribeye, i had asked if they could do it med rare and actually hit that temp, they weren't sure so i went with rare and ended up getting mid-rare which was what i wanted. Veggies were so overcooked they were mush. I would just skip veggies if you can and get something else as a side, even a second salad! Salad bar is basic but it fufilled my desire in salad. The buffet seemed dry and uninspired with limited food choices. I passed on it. Could be they were severely understaffed though as we were told 1 waitress was working the entire place herself with a hostess. The pizza was pretty decent, much better that i would have expected from a casino restaurant.

We went to a mother's day brunch at the Hon Dah Casino with friends who invited us. The brunch was in the Indian Pine Restaurant that is behind the casino. The restaurant is so beautiful and very clean. It had lovely paintings and carvings. It was very inviting. We were greeted and shown to a table. It took a while for someone to take our drink order and since we ordered alcohol, it came from the casino. I asked if they had a Prosecco but I got a blank stare, so I said any bubbly drink. She went to ask then, after a while l, came back and said they had a moscato which was the closest to my request. (?) I just got a glass of wine since my drink order seemed to be holding up everyone else's. We finally got drinks and decided to go get cheese and crackers for the table while we enjoyed the drinks but, by then, the guys were so hungry we all just went to get food. The food was ok. They had a beef Wellington, which I love, but I ended up with an end cut which was dry. The fish was ok but there was no potato crust. Just random, stray potatoes on top the fish. There were some tasty side dishes. The dessert bar was large including some sugar free desserts. I had a teeny slice of a couple pies. (Yes, Russ-all those PIES! :). I likes some more than others. They were as good as pies at other buffets I've had. I'm glad I got to try the buffets at Hon Dah. Maybe it was a bit busy since it was Mother's Day which may have affected service. I'm not really a fan of buffets so I doubt if I would go back.

The chicken wing were very good but certainly not worth over $16. This restaurant is very overpriced.

We took home a dozen wings again tonight and they were perfect. Half drums and wingetts. Cooked perfectly. U got it.

My husband and I went to try this on the fish Friday. We hadn't been here before and didn't realize when you arrive you have to put your name on a list to be seated. But a nice guest informed us. After we got our name on the list, we were seated pretty quickly and didn't have to wait long. The staff was really nice and the food was as good as we have been hearing about for years. We did the buffet and were glad that word of mouth has been so right. Everything was delicious. And for a buffet type restaurant, it wasn't very loud even though it was busy. We will definitely be back.

Smells of scratch cooking welcome you as you walk in with smiles and the usual knickknacks for purchase to commemorate your trip abound. Seated outside and received our drinks quickly from our buss boy. Waiter arrived and took our order as the menu is large but it's got the staples if you're a breakfast fan it doesn't take long to decide. My buddy went with an omelet hash browns extra crispy w/ pancakes and myself the sausage link with over medium eggs home fries and toast. Large portions force you to take food to make decisions, over indulge, leave it behind, or take it to go. Thankfully we elected to leave it behind though it was all extremely delicious! We were given our check with no rush to leave but the travel plans had just begun so it was perfect. On our way out we just missed a rush as there was a line out the door so our 9:30am arrival was fortunate and awesome though we had no idea it would be. Definitely worth a morning breakfast if you're in this area!

Monica's cafe appears to be a locals favorite in Showlow. It was very busy, but not packed when we…read moregot there. Our GPS directed us to the small parking lot on one side of the building. We were able to go around the building and park in a much larger lot used by the Showlow municipal complex. We came in a side door followed a party of three. The server saw them and asked them to sit in an open table (while balancing plates she was delivering to another table - pretty impressive!). She then asked the hostess to seat us. Outstanding service! We were seated and the hostess took our drink orders. My wife wanted orange juice and she said they were out of OJ. We placed our orders. While we were waiting for our orders, the hostess came back over to tell us that they just got some Orange juice in. My wife ordered it and it was delivered a short time later. My wife liked her multi-grain pancakes. My omelette was good as were the new potatoes. The gravy for the biscuits and gravy had a very nice hint of black pepper in it. It really made the biscuits and gravy stand out. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommended!

We had visited this location once before, about six months before our daughter was born, back when…read moreit was still called Sweetheart Cafe. When we learned that Sweetheart had closed and Monica's Cafe had taken over, we decided to make the drive while visiting Show Low from Gilbert during a forest vacation. The decor was modest, rustic, and charming, with a blend of Native American touches and old country western character. The walls were minimalist, but in a way that felt intentional. It did not need to try too hard. As a vegetarian, trying a new restaurant is always a bit of a gamble. You never know whether food is cooked in oil or lard, whether rice or soup has meat-based stock, or whether something that looks vegetarian has hidden meat worked into it somewhere. It can be a tricky line to walk. We drove about 30 minutes to Monica's Cafe hoping for a good meal, and this place absolutely did not disappoint. Honestly, I think the reason the place feels so simple is because they have clearly put their energy where it matters most: the food. I ordered the veggie omelet with added tomatoes, a side of hollandaise sauce, and a pancake on the side. It was surprisingly excellent. After nearly every bite, I kept thinking that the food from this small cafe should not be this good. Everything was flavorful, satisfying, and far exceeded expectations. Next time we are in the area, we will absolutely be coming back. I definitely recommend Monica's Cafe to anyone looking for a great meal in Show Low.
