I came here in the 1970s. I haven't been since. But we found ourselves in Monticello this summer and decided to head over. It was great. With four people going we found it to be a deal to get at least one season pass too. We've been a couple times and we all like it. There are roller coasters, games, food, water, rides, and shows. You can get in for $40 but it's easy to get that discounted by booking early, discount codes, passes... From Monticello, Lake Freeman, it's under 15 minutes. It's a fun time for the whole family. My kids and I like thrill rides. My wife doesn't. We all had a "let's come back" good time. read more

Indiana Beach was okay, in on our experience, the park was understaffed. Several of the kid rides had signs that operators were rotating and to check back later when the rotation occurred. Despite it being Memorial Day weekend, the beach was closed and was gross, with visible green algae. The Shafer Queen was non-operational and under repair during our visit. We even heard from other guests that they had gotten stuck on a ride and had to climb down. The food was typical of an amusement park, mostly fried foods and desserts. Prices were high, but that is norm these days, unfortunately. Some of the positive experiences were firework show and the Haunted Frankenstein House (requires an additional charge) was definitely worth it. Overall, our visit was a disappointment. The park has not aged well and is in need of repairs, along with better staffing. read more

We like going here. It's an older park kind of like a huge carnival but with a few fun roller coasters and water rides. We normally grab some junk food and a couple beers while people watching or over looking the lake. Always a good time. read more

I do not agree with the no refund policy. It should be changed. I understand that the no refund policy is stated when ordering the tickets. BUT my family came to celebrate my daughter's 13th birthday and barely got to do anything at all because of the weather. The very first ride we got on BROKE DOWN and we were stuck in the air for 12 minutes. It was very scary! The staff were EXTREMELY unfriendly. Unfortunately, we WILL NOT be back. I predict that this park won't be open for much longer. Also, the bartender with the blonde hair and pop tab earrings by the water park acted like we were a bother to her as she offered NO information and did not even smile or tell us thank you. read more

I've been going there since I moved to Indiana 14 years ago when we first went it was new. It was nice. It was nostalgic you know but then every time you go back it's the same thing and I know it's got new owners, but basically it's the same thing after a couple hours. You're bored the rise are lackluster there's really no kids area. There's you know what 45 rides now I noticed since I haven't been there in a few years that the variety of food has changed. I'm not gonna say it was great, but it was better than what they had. I was really looking forward to that Italian restaurant but of course it wasn't even opened so I will probably wait a few more years to go back. There's just not enough there to make it exciting. I mean it's like once you've been there that's enough. I preferably would rather drive one extra hour cause it takes me about an hour and 10 minutes from where I live, I would rather go another extra hour to Muskegon, Michigan to Michigan's adventure now that place is worth the same price the Indiana Beach house but they have wave pools and they have wonderful rides and a rapids and I mean it's just you have a lot more to do there for the same price it's worth the extra hour drive! read more

I still like Indiana Beach. It's a historic landmark in Indiana, and that board walk is full of so much old timey charm. The shops, rides, and buildings are all antiques and throwbacks to a bygone era. I get why some of the other reviews are upset at the rides being closed. I don't do rollercoasters or waterslides, and neither do my kids. So we didn't mind. We came to get some fun eats and laze on the lazy river. And that was great. All the park staff were friendly and helpful. The food we got from every vendor was fantastic, and I was really surprised how clean all the antique restaurant buildings are. Everything felt much more hygienic than your average carnival. The price is arguably a bit high for what you get. It's comparable to the rate on daily tickets at King's Island, which is about the same distance from Indianapolis. However, I also understand that Indiana Beach is a historic landmark fighting to continue existing. Hopefully they can run some of that money into fixing the rides that are having trouble. Closing rides rather than running them with safety risks gets an A+ in my book. I think the current owners are doing their best to give people a great time in a piece of Hoosier history. read more

Don't go!!! A lot of the rides were closed!!! I spent over $200 on entrance fees for my family. Even Kiddieland was a sad mess. I've sent several emails with no real response. Was finally told GM was in a car accident prior to park open and out of commission until further notice and he is the only person that help me. What???? No interim GM, who's running the park!!!??? Craziness!!!! I was trying to get a response on their Facebook page and apparently was blocked by Indiana Beach. Prior to our visit, I visited their website. The website showed 1, yes only 1, ride was down. A lot of rides were down. Kiddieland had 3 only people operatingall of the Kiddieland rides. So most were closed. We waited over 30 minutes In line with an excited 4 year old for the Carousel to open...never did. It was very confusing for little children to run to to a ride waiting in line and nothing happens. Only to go to a different ride and have the same thing happen over and over. She'd never been to an amusement park and she got a dud for her her first time. Sad. They now charge extra for the Haunted Mansion,, this was not stated on the website. The Antique cars only have 4 different cars, you can imagine how long that line was. Oh and the Pirate's Den, only one adult or or one adult and one child per car, that line was longer. My mother was going to stay home because they no longer offer the $2 entrance fees for those who don't ride. Now it's $21.99. We told her to come she and ride the Schafer Queen, NOPE, IT WAS DOWN TOO!!! No fair warning. It now costs a minimum of $2 to feed the carp because they took out the quarter feed machines. The park was filthy too. Very disappointed. Trying to figure out what to do with the Season Pass I bought. It's pretty much worthless I even tried to send a message to the owner and error stated could not send...go figures.... read more

We came here for The Hops and Drops event. Had a Great time! They close the park for the adult only event. 100+ vendors come and station around the park for tastings. There's music, food and rides opened too! The park was clean and orderly. Staff was friendly. A great experience. read more

Stayed here for 2 nights, here's my opinion; -Fun rides, if you come when it's hot outside then wait times are fast! Train ride did break down whilst on it, shortening my ride. So many things to do here, tons of roller coasters and kid friendly. - $2.50 for a bottled water is insane, overpriced merch shops. $30 per person isn't bad for entry though. - Cabins could be alot better, lots of bugs that get in the cabin! It could be alot cleaner too honestly, maybe a maintenance team that comes in when you're out would be helpful. It's a bit run down and could be updated heavily. - Beautiful view of lake, lots of nature and bugs Ive never seen before. (I hate bugs personally) I recommend this place for a family trip, maybe if you wanna be in nature but don't wanna go actual camping read more

I've seen and read all the bad reviews so I guess I got lucky...lol I went for the first time on Memorial Day and expected the worse but every ride was open except for that frog looking scrambler type ride and I rode everything including the newest steel coaster. I was disappointed that the mine train ride was closed when I got there but after a few hours it opened in the afternoon and I got to ride that as well. All the workers were nice and the food wasn't that bad for carnival food. I probably won't come back because there are so many better amusement parks in the USA but I had a fun getaway from Chicago and for that I'm grateful. read more

Looking for a great family park that has a ton of awesome attractions for everyone then you've come to the right beach as this park has those beach days totally going on! Coming here I really didn't think I would like this park as much as I did but it turns out that it was a pretty awesome spot with some radical history as it's been through some rough times and has still managed to stay an amazing place thankfully now it has an owner who you can tell cares about the beach and will be continue to restore it to it's amazing place! They have a good collection of coasters here with three wooden ones and two steel but I must say out of all the coasters I've ever ridden anywhere Lost Coaster Of Superstition Mountain has to be one of the most unique rides I've ever ridden as it has soo much randomness to it that you won't find on any other coaster anywhere! The Cornball Expresses was really really good with soo much airtime on it that I was out of my seat more than half the ride this is definitely up there with my favorite of the wooden coasters I've ridden anywhere! Our visit was during Halloween season so they had a good amount of decorations up for being a small family park as well as some pretty awesome haunted houses like Frankenstein's castle as it's a permanent fixture in the park but it really does create a bunch of fun for everyone with it's winding walkways through the castle This park is very awesome and to visit a random night in October we really couldn't have gone wrong as our group had a blast and got many laps on the awesome coasters here as well as some scares from the monsters. Overall the future looks bright for this beautiful and amazing park I just know that I'll be looking forward to what they get next as well as my next visit here because I totally know that I'll be back again next summer to enjoy all that the beach here has to offer! read more

This is a review for the amusement park. I have not stayed in any of the cabins or camp grounds. This is an Indiana gem, I'm so thankful that it is still around. Is it Disney? Nope. Don't go in expecting that. See it for what is it - a lakeside amusement park in a small Indiana town. This park holds lots of history and is still in existence because people love it. Expect grass parking and an enjoyable walk across a suspension bridge. I can't recommend the tacos enough! Feeding the carp is also a must, cheap entertainment as a bag of popcorn for them is only $2. read more

My first time at Indiana Beach Amusement Park with my family. It's a nice scenic drive of cornfields from Michigan City, Indiana. I've never been to such a beautiful lake before. It gave me Cousins Beach vibes from The Summer I Turned Pretty Episode Love Game where the cast went to the Boardwalk and played games. The gift shops are touristy with cute tshirts such as TJ's Tshirt Shop. The lines were not too long since school was back in session. The rides went by pretty fast. I think only waiting for the train and the water bumper boat ride we're the longest wait time. Crow's Nest eatery- do not recommend the veggie chicken bowl. The veggies are frozen or overcooked 1000 times such that the carrot and broccoli were purple and black. The schezwan sauce was pure salt. Super $$$ at $12 for a tray of salty rice and chicken bits. The elephant ears and Indiana Beach pineapple Whip was delicious. Highly recommend. You have to pay $3.50/person for Frankenstein maze. It was super dark. Bring a flashlight. Very dangerous and narrow path unlit, hot and claustrophobic because of the dark and narrow corridors. Huge trip hazard. It's endless and full of terror. Overall a fun experience and will have to splurge and get a Indiana Beach tshirt when I return. read more

I have been going to Indiana beach for 40 years, and it has been a staple go to for a fun day. It has slowly declined over the past 15 years or so. My hope was restored when the new owners acquired the park a couple years ago. I took my family today to enjoy in some nostalgia. most of the rides were open for the first time in the last few visits, but prices have became very inflated for everything. I understand needing to keep up with rising costs, but $15 for a sandwich, and $5 for a cup of ice water is hurting the park more than helping in my opinion. When I asked if I could get my water refilled with tap water, they wanted me to pay $4 more for TAP WATER... keep in mind there are no water fountains in operation or free water of any kind. This is a wonderful place to go, but I believe they are losing customer service in leu of revenue. I think I have gone to IB for the last time. When the bigger park options are not much more pricey, IB is unfortunately going to go down hill quickly. read more

Clean Rides are inspected every morning. We know this as both days we came and the crew was inspecting rides prior to opening. South entrance has porta potties for those needing to go to the bathroom before entering park. That's a plus! Many food options, fun shops! Stayed at the Indiana beach resort. Chip and peeling paint bathtub was not clean. The caulking looked black around the bathtub. We didn't even use it. No table to set your stuff on in the room. I paid $200 a night. It's a two-night minimum. We left after the first night. That's how bad this is. Bathroom light didn't work. We did go into the amusement park because our hotel was right in the front of the gates. There went into the amusement park. None of the wood roller coasters is working. They nickel and dime you for every little thing, even Said if we took any towels out $10 for each towel. If we didn't take our trash out they would charge us and he had to return the room keys and not leave them in the room or it's a $25 charge. Guess what? I thought that's what you paid. Maids to do is to clean these rooms. If all you want them to do is vacuum the carpet, make the beds then pay me to clean my room at $200 a night. I expect better service than what I got. I recommend nobody go to this place the hotel room read more

Great little place with a decent amount of rides (though they always tend to have a good 4-7 rides that are down). The lazy river is a great touch though I was bummed that the pool was only like 3ft deep like a wading pool. I think the lazy river was deeper to be honest. The food is reasonably priced and relatively decent taste/quality with adequate portions. We bought season passes and drive down from NWI so it's pretty worth it, and at their busiest I've never waited more than 20 minutes for their bigger rides. read more

We visited Indiana Beach on Tuesday June 24th in the middle of a 10 day,6 amusement park trip from New Jersey.....Have been to IB twice before and always enjoyed it,especially the nostalgic and uniqueness of it......this park was the major disappointment of our trip this time around......first of all we booked a stay at the new IB hotel,that advertised a "short"walk to the IB attractions .....it was up on the highway about a half mile past the south parking lot....a hell of a walk if you ask me.....while our room was nicely renovated,the pool was closed for "renovations ",even though it looked fine to me.....they didn't even have an ice machine(for $160+per night).....anyway,the park;many rides closed(more than 1/3),and even more closed after a little rain shower around 3pm.....my main reason for going to IB was to ride the All American Triple Loop coaster(new ride) as I am a coaster enthusiast.....I asked a manager if it would open,she said yes 5-9 pm,unless it rains.....there was a 5 minute shower around 5pm,then it never opened......major disappointment......there was a falling star(a now rare ride)sounded like it was going to blow up......Cornball Express never opened( my wife's favorite ride there),nor did Cyclone......I got stuck on the Den of lost thieves for about 30 minutes,up stairs in the sweltering heat,with 2 young girls,whose car smashed into my broken down car.....I paid almost 30 bucks for 2 hot dogs,fries,and a soda.....we asked for a cup of ice water( it was very hot),and they said they would have to charge us(we found out later that they have NO water fountains)the boat ride on lake Schaefer did not operate ......the only 2 reasons I gave this 2 stars is because I believe this very unique place,in a beautiful setting has SO MUCH potential,I really hope it succeeds...,,the second reason is we got 3 rides in a row on Lost Coaster as we were leaving(around 815).....after those rides,it seemed as if the park was closed,even though it was supposed to be open till 9.....I also forgot to mention the place was virtually deserted all day.....I wish Gene Staples the best,and I hope IB will thrive,but I think a lot of things need to change(management) read more

Before I write "my review" on Indiana Beach, let me tell you that I have NOT read any review on this establishment. Therefore, this is "my experience" and I am not influenced by other reviews. First, we arrived late. Totally our fault, however, we notified the staff before they closed and they told us that it was not a problem - they'll leave our key with Security. It took a bit, but being that they closed at 10pm and we arriving just before 10:30pm we were in our room 20 minutes later. Right on! We were expecting a couch but that's okay, With two adults and three small children the queen sized beds made the sleeping arrangements bearable. Not to mention the great television selection they had to keep the boys occupied while the two adults got to regroup on the deck. We were in room #3 where a staircase led up to it and had a 6x10 foot open deck. And you want to know what the BEST part was...? We were right outside the park entrance! That's right. The entrance to the park was right outside my door. I could see the ticket taker's name tag...YES, I was that close! The amusement park was amazing! Great staff, if there was something you needed all you had to do was ask... for real. They were ON IT! The room was awesome. It was clean, roomy... there was a complaint about the smell from one of the kids but what do you expect? We're in Monticello, Indiana. You'll get used it...eventually. Indiana beach is fun!! Don't let all the negative reviews pursued you otherwise. Through all of the financial issues and new ownership, the park is still almost the same as it was when I was a kid. There is maybe 1-2 new rides that have been installed, but that's not a negative. It's nostalgic and it's cheap fun. 35.99 for an adult ticket (used a promo code) is a steal. I have been to county fairs that charge more for a wristband. FREE parking, short wait lines to ride, and very good tacos at the IB taco stand. I went on a Saturday morning from 11am -7pm and rode eveything multiple times. Every single ride was up and operating besides the triple loop coaster. I know a lot of the reviews say all the rides are always closed, but I didn't experience that at all. The amusement park is an awesome first park for kids, as alot of the rides are small and beginner friendly. Even the coasters are pretty mild with no crazy tall drops. Plenty of the rides offer amazing views of the lake. recommend this park to anyone for a fun weekend trip. read more

Four of us arrived on a Saturday about 10 minutes before opening with our advance sale wristbands so we wouldn't have to wait inline when we got there. We headed straight to the entrance gate as we were directed and our bracelets scanned invalid. We had to go back to the ticket both and waiting inline. Only one out of eight I think ticket windows were open with about 100 people inline. We then made our way over to the water park area. We first went into the bath house to find a locker which was $12 for the day. We secured our locker and made our way into the dressing rooms to change. The women's changing room was dark, dirty, and dank. There were two sinks only one soap dispenser and it wasn't working. There were two showers, no curtains, and the water was dropping out (not spraying) and it was cold, not hot water. We went to the lazy river where we had to run around and try to find an innertube to use. As there were many deflated laying around the ground. We also went to the tube slides which were really fun. We stopped by the beach area which didn't seem to have much sand. there were many weeds and grassed growing up through the sand and over all the beach area wasn't very appealing. After the water park area we went to explore the other areas of the park. We rode the train, the Corn Hole Express, the Tig'rr, Hoosier Hurricane, and a couple others. The rides were short and fun, the operators barely spoke to anyone and looked miserable to be there. There were at lease four rides that were not operating, and one ride we were on broke down while we were on it. We sat for about 15 minutes with no announcement or communication. Eventually two maintenance men showed up and I asked them what happened one replied "nothing". Hmmm Seems like something happened? We went into three of the enclosed restaurant spaces which were so hot we had to leave. We found one in the kids area where the air conditioning was actually working. In general it looks like it was a really fun nice place at some point. Unfortunately there appears to be a lot of deferred maintenance, trash cans over flowing, few drinking fountains (few of those working). It looks and feels like an amusement park that was awesome about 20-30 years ago and just needs a breath of fresh air and a make over. There is so much opportunity and I would love to come back if the owners take advantage of this great place and fulfil its potential! read more

The new owner seems to be making improvements and it does show. We were there during the week and the park opened at 10 am however the only thing open at 10 were the concessions, no rides opened until 11, or after depending on what time the workers got to their ride, and if there was a problem then they had to call maintenance. Workers should be at their rides at 9 for testing 930 at the latest if you open at 10. Other then that we had a great time, keep up the improvements. read more

It may be a bit rundown, but I have high hopes for this place as it was purchased by a larger corporate entity that raised the admission prices and is planning upgrades. The season pass is the way to go if you plan on coming at least twice during the year. There are a lot of things to do for young kids (rides, beach, games, etc.). It's been around 5 years + since we been here. Thought since they changed hands that it might be better....not really. In fact, my son thinks it was worse. My son used to play gigs here and stayed at most of the accommodations. I have to say that I'm really disappointed with the cottage we rented. No towels, no sheets for the sleeper sofa, not enough pillows, light fixtures not enough light, bathroom fixtures were loose and leaking. Also the WiFi sucks. They should've told you to bring your toolbox if you want to stay here. Also, if you have allergies, don't forget to bring your medicine. I'm allergic to mold and this place reeked havoc on my allergies. Won't be back here but if we do come back, I'll be going back to Best Western. read more

Well since I have an annual pass I have returned twice thus far in 2021. I visited all of 4th of July weekend. My kids always have a good time. It was pretty busy and I noticed a few new things. First the new pizza place is excellent. Best theme park pizza I have had in a long time. They have movies on the tv to watch as well. Food came out pretty quick. The crust isn't frozen either. Next they have added frozen bananas as an item. Also the popcorn has gotten a huge upgrade in terms of dozens of flavors. Also after many years of disuse they now have a place to eat in the location across from the kids rides. They had nice tenderloins and hotdogs. They also for the first time in years have gotten the lost coaster of superstition mountain fully working with all the sounds and side effects. It's a great ride and one of a kind. Glad to see it return as good as new. They have bought a triple loop ride but it still hasn't been assembled as of mid august. Looks like it will be great. So if you can visit and haven't been in the last two years the park is so much better under the new management. read more

They came in all different sizes and builds. I have always stayed in the ones with a screened in porch and 2 bedrooms 2 baths and loft. They are so cute and cozy for anytime of year! (Except winter they aren't open) They have a good size kitchen to cook and a grill outside w/ big picnic table. You can easily get up to seven people in the one I stay at. They have one and half baths so that makes it easier to share. There are also two tvs in the cabin. You are literally right outside the gates of Indiana Beach so going in and out of the park is no problem! The only complaint I have is I wish they did more work to the cabins during off season. It's so easy to paint and stuff like that. They are already adorable but this kind of stuff would just put it over the too. read more

Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park has been a summer staple since I was a child. When the park closed a few years ago, I admit that I was devastated. When the park reopened, my heart soared. When the Covid 19 pandemic hit, it again was idled. For the decade, my husband and I make it a point to stay over the weekend (Indiana Beach Campground) and enjoy the park. However, something changed. For the last three years, we noted that the water park only operates on half staff and on a limited basis with only running the lazy river one day and three of six slides the next. The amusement park also operates on half-staff--only running one car on the coasters and with many attractions not running at all! I did note that the admission tickets were NOT reduced for the reduction in the attraction. My son only was able to bring his 6-year-old daughter for 8 hours on one of those days (July 29, 2023) and had to pay $80 for the admission to a park offering only half the attractions. Having this happen in consecutive years, I feel it's not only "happenstance" but an accepted rule of operation. As much as I hate to say it, we will not be back. Cannot justify visiting at this current moment in time. Visited right before July 4th and only 2/6 roller coasters were open. This was not advertised anywhere on the website, and tickets went for $40 a piece At the same time, they decide to construct a "new" seventh roller coaster (it's a relocated ride that literally killed people in Mexico, you can look that up) that has yet to open despite construction starting in 2021. There are much better offerings for amusement parks in the area, including Indiana's own Holiday World, Kentucky Kingdom, Ohio's Cedar Point and Kings Island, and Six Flags Great America. These are all parks with esteemed reputations that will likely never screw you over like Indiana Beach did to me. Did I mention the staff was rude? When in line for Steel Hawg (one of two operating coasters... honestly a pretty good ride by the way), I witnessed a ride operator enter into a screaming match with a grandma over a teenage boy in a boot not being able to ride. I understand there are regulations, but there are better ways to handle such an incident. When the grandma left the area, the ride operator turned to me and asked for my opinion on the issue. I declined to comment and then the employee proceeded to justify his case to me instead of continuing to run the ride. Oh, and in case you want to complain to guest services about what an awful time you had, good luck. They had one person at the guests services booth, purely meant for helping out passholders. I am thankful that owner Gene Staples did not allow this park to be demolished; however, in the state it is in currently, it's not worth a visit. Save the money and wait until this park becomes more accountable. read more
