I came here for the weekday lunch buffet and left fully satisfied. The buffet isn't huge, but each dish was good and overall better than many others at a similar price point, with several clearly marked options for vegans/vegetarians. My favorite was the chicken korma. The servers were attentive and offered us naan throughout our meal. Also, the inside of the restaurant is cute (pink walls!) and homey. We arrived early before our reservation and found it quiet for a Friday night at 6pm. We sat alone at the bar after seeing their window advertisement for happy hour and were greeted by the Maitre D who at the time seemed like the only employee there serving as host, bartender, and waiter. He told us the happy hour drink special was BOGO free! That was a great deal and my date and I took advantage with the (not so strong) cocktails. To pair with the drinks we got an open faced samosa that arrived looking like a boat filled with the Indian spices and potato filling- we had to pick it up to eat it! We eventually sat down at a nice corner window table and ordered the lamb and cheese croquettes- more lamb than we expected- it was tasty! And a chicken and lamb dish, and finally creme brûlée for dessert. The highlight of our meal was definitely the samosa. We did find it quite pricey for the extras, though: $10 for a basket of naan and $7 for a palm size serving of creme brûlée and it was a bit odd that it seemed like the manager was the only employee on a Friday night! I love Indian restaurants and have been to so many over the years, but Indigma is definitely one of the best I have been to. The service is truly exceptional. From the moment my cousin and I walked in, we received such a warm welcome and quickly seated. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly, and checked in on us during dinner. I ordered the fish curry and it was outstanding, seriously, and the fresh garlic naan was good as well. And to top off the excellent service, it was pouring rain when we were leaving dinner, so the owners let us borrow their umbrella. Indigma - a Modern Indian Bistro - Indian Near Me - Baltimore, Maryland

Only been open two weeks but this was a great surprise. The owner also opened the Bombay Grill in Columbia, MD back in the late 80s/early 90s. The food was excellent. Avocado mango chaat, curry leaf chicken and lamb croquettes were great starters. The elachi lamb chops, Chilean sea bass and chicken tikka masala were very tasty. The service was impeccable. I would highly suggest this restaurant for anyone who wants a slight twist on Indian food and a great experience. read more

Indigma has undergone a resurrection after the fire the gutted the previous location (next to Donna's), just across the street in Mt. Vernon. The last time we ate there, it was an improvement over the previous fusion restaurant, Saffron, but still left a bit to be desired. (Saffron was a mess). This visit was a marked improvement over the food at the previous location. Staple Indian fare (Chicken Tikka Masala, Tandoor, Rogan Josh, etc.) complemented with experimental fare (open faced samosa, mango paneer, dahl and corn soup). All of it, for the most part worked well. The decor is beautiful (but a bit more subdued than the previous location across the street), service solid and attentive. It is definitely higher end Indian food (I'm honestly happy up the street at Kumari too) and gives Ambassador Dining Room a logical and worthy foe, even if Baltimore is not an Indian food mecca. :) Still enjoy the trek to DC for fave spots like Rasika. read more

First, I must say that the service here was outstanding! We came to celebrate a birthday, and the owner came out and gave the birthday girl a gift certificate at the end of the dinner. Also, they very graciously let us bring in a cake from outside and gave us plates for all that. The dinner entrees themselves were also very good, although my chicken tikka masala was still spicy even though I asked for it to be completely not spicy. This is at the top of the list as far as indian food goes. As good as the best indian food i've had in NYC, perhaps even better (and you know NYC has some of the best restaurants, in any cuisine). That's all I can say about the food, absolutely perfect. Not only is it very flavorful, but there are so many options on the menu, really beckons me to come back again and again. As far as service and ambience...they're also on the level. The place itself is located within some kind of hotel building or something, but when you get inside the restaurant, it's really something to feast your eyes on. My gf and I were just about ready to start asking where they bought their decorations lol. Service was impeccable, glass of water was constantly full (good thing since my shrimp vindaloo was quite generously spiced), and both the waiter AND the manager/owner himself often came by and checked to see if we wanted anything. He even brought out two extra portions of rice for free when he saw we seemed like we wanted it (he must've heard one of us complain to the other). That's the only thing - the place is amazing and the food is too, but the portions are significantly smaller than what i'm used to at indian places. I was still more than stuffed after 2 samosas and the shrimp vindaloo dish, but if it weren't for that extra rice portion I may not have been. But whatever, better not to overeat anyway. I don't like it when i can barely walk after finishing a meal. All in all, if you're looking for indian food in baltimore, i can say with 99% certainty you will not find a better place than this...maybe you will find something on the level, but not better. PS - interestingly enough, they have a special area designated for birthday party seating...never seen that in an indian restaurant lol, though it makes me wish I'd known about this place when I was 10. read more

I went for dinner with some friends and had a decidedly mixed experience. The food and decor were both very good. I had the Indigma lamb special, available 'mild' 'medium' or 'hot'. (I picked 'hot' and have no regrets.) One of my friends had the veg. dosa (her impression: very good, but she would have liked more vegetables), and my other friend had a salad (I've forgotten which, but she liked it). We also ordered the bread basket to share, and I can tell you they do a good onion kulcha. The food was really quite good. (One of my friends remarked, wistfully, "I wish I could cook potatoes like this...") Everything tasted very fresh. (No year-old cumin seeds with diminished flavor here!) If this review were for the food alone, it'd be four or five stars. However... The service was a little spotty. I had to ration my water, as nobody seemed keen on refilling it for me. Our waiter (who may in fact have been the chef/owner?) was a bit pushy. When we attempted to order the bread basket to start on while deciding on entrees, we were rebuffed because "it is better to have hot bread with your food. If you get the bread now, it will be cold when your entrees arrive!" Okay, fair enough... I can respect someone having strong opinions on how best to eat the food they serve. Unfortunately, the bread arrived a good fifteen minutes after our entrees. Given the choice between lukewarm bread served too early and hot bread far too late, I'd pick the former. (To their credit, they comped us a dessert to apologize for the mix-up. The kulfi is delicious, and very nicely presented.) Perhaps I'm being overly particular, but considering the price of dinner (and the strong opinions the owner has on bread) I had hoped for better service. I will be returning for the lunch buffet some day soon, however, as that seems to be the source of many 5-star reviews. (Also, I just got an email from OpenTable informing me that I was a 'no-show' for this meal... I didn't know they kept track of that. In any case, I'm not surprised someone forgot to check us in. Indigma's is the best Indian lunch buffet in mt vernon. If calories could magically disappear from food, I would eat there every day and that is saying something. Lovely ambience, creative and tasty dishes. In their pre-fire disaster avatar they had these mini plates for lunch that drove me nuts. I like the new system better. The dinner prices make me a little, err indignant! Good for dinner if you are in a mood to splurge. read more

Love!!! Food, drinks and service is on point. Rarely do you get all three and a deal...Wednesday night we sat at the bar and received half off our bottle of wine and all small plates were also half off. I shouldn't be telling this secret because I do not want to lose my seat, but our experience was superb. Our favorites were the open samosa, chicken skewers and the coconut crab soup. Went with 7 co-workers this week, they pulled out all the stops & brought out large dishes of what would be the combo veg-non tapas offering. Every thing was perfect, I normaly just get the veg. Wow the cashew chicken was awesome. All my co-worker/friends really enjoyed themselves. I would hate to put this out publicly but it is only fair...we went to have the buffet there after much hesitation. 1. We were seated in the corner room to the left of the bar and the wait staff just forgot about us - no one came to ask us about drinks or bring us naan...after we had gone through two helpings, I finally got up and asked the bartender to bring us water and naan...the water came fast enough after the request, but the naan no so much. I had to ask 3-4 different waiters before we finally got the naan but by then, I had lost my appetite. 2. Our used plates piled up in the center for most of the meal, when I gave nasty looks to a waiter, he finally came and attempted to clear our table, but complained that it wasn't his table and the staff responsible for our tables is not helping him - somehow that becomes acceptable - he then spilled things from the used plates on our table (I understand that was not intentional, yet unprofessional). 3. We never got asked about drinks until the very end, the owner Tony, finally offered us the complimentary mimosa - at that point, I was already done eating and was waiting on my check. 4. The buffet was mostly empty at 1:30pm (they are supposed to be open until 3). 5. The music was loud and unpleasant - it gave me a headache - while eating, the music is supposed to be soft and pleasant - I gave this 2 stars because the owner actually tried to serve us, but when he realized we don't eat meat, somehow there was nothing that could be done for us - he did try though, there was just nothing that could change my mind at that point - so I am upping one star. read more

Lovely Sunday lunch buffet at Indigma... Buffet spread had many many vegetarian options my favorites being dill pakora, gobi manchurian and coconut milk paneer. Food was fresh and the restaurant itself was very elegant. The food is very mild on the spice factor, which makes sense given that most patrons were non-Indian.Definitely not a run of the mill Indian restaurant with the vibrant decor and it's setting in a beautiful Victorian mansion in the heart of Mount Vernon.The wait staff was lovely and very accommodating of the 2 babies in our group. I finally decided to join just to write about this restaurant. I have been extremely interested in trying Indigma because of the beautiful space that it is currently in, on Monument and Charles. I entered and was impressed by the decor of the space and the colors. However, today was not a good day for the restaurant because they were hosting an event and then trying to feed a dining room full of people from the same buffet. There was definitely a wait. I ordered a chai tea only to receive it partially spilled over on its saucer. It was very messy to drink with it dripping all over me and my plate. I would have to literally pour it into the sink to rectify that situation of mess. Plus, when I was trying to sweeten my tea with sugar packets, the packets were all extra crunchy and in solid formation. This is the least of my complaints. I have bad news kids: the piece of tandoori chicken breast that I chose from the buffet was completely bloody and raw inside. I tried to be very discrete about showing it to my waiter as there were many people tearing into their chicken like raptors on Jurassic Park. I felt bad for my waiter because when I showed it to him he looked at me as if he was going to lose his tip. I made sure that didn't happen. However, I couldn't help but feel grossed out from the rest of the experience. I asked the waiter to check the other pieces of chicken in the buffet and change my silverware to avoid a potential salmonella outbreak. I do not know if they did so, but I played it safe and just ate rice, legumes, and salad for the rest of the time. There was no discount offered to me for this experience, which is maybe something I would have done if that were my restaurant. Nor an apology from the manager. As I went back into line the third time to grab dessert, I received my complimentary naan. Many people were complaining that the plates were dirty in the stack, too. That was not a good sign, either. At least, I thought, "How can they go wrong with dessert?" I was looking forward to trying their Gulab Jamun but they were cold, stale, and not soaked in rosewater, but sugary syrup. I am giving them one star because the cabbage, coconut and lentil salad was good. Other than that, I would recommend you make your way over to Kumari if you desire a nice Saturday afternoon buffet with fully cooked chicken, expeditious service, and good food. read more

I give this restaurant 5 stars because of the excellent service, decor, and food. I had no trouble making, and later changing, reservations for a group of six on a Saturday night. The restaurant was covered in a deep red color with intimate lighting and some interesting metal designs on the wall. Service was fast and attentive; I got my Palak Paneer sent back to the kitchen to add some spice without any problems. The food was well spiced and everything was of a high quality. The papadam had plenty of pepper kick, the dal soup was light but tasty, and the palak paneer was rich and spiced with a cumin-pepper base. The Chicken Masala was very fresh and mild. My mom asked for a dish not on the menu, and it amounted to a more highly spiced version of the chicken tikka masala. Prices were reasonable, especially with the restaurant.com coupon. read more

My wife and I went with another couple on a weekday evening. The staff were very friendly and engaging; the service prompt and professional. While a bit expensive by Indian food norms, the food was excellent and the space very upscale. Even though the menu is rather extensive, I stayed with my old standard of lamb korma, which was delicious, and had the "open-faced samosa" as an appetizer... also quite good. I've eaten at Indian restaurants all over the Baltimore Metro Area and this is by far my favorite! The service has always been phenomenal and the food is excellent. The hot bar items are always fresh and n'an is brought to the table not left sitting under a heat lamp. Each day the buffet offerings vary from curry fish, lamb and shrimp vindaloos, chicken and eggplant masalas, vegetable korma and many other specialties. The staff is always quick to bring fresh naan, refill beverages, or anything else that might be needed. The location is amazing as well. The historical building sits on the corner of Charles street.If you're lucky you'll get a table facing the Monument. I love this place. read more
