The perfect ambience for a Thai Vietnamese restaurant. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was acknowledged when I entered the door. My orders for beer and appetizer, and my entrée came out pretty quickly. The Cha Gio was 6 crispy fried wraps with a mostly fish dipping sauce. My main of Pad Ki Mao was a delicious chicken and shrimp rice noodle stir fry with vegetables. I stuck with the standard medium heat since it was the first time for me in this restaurant. This was a super unique spot, and we were beyond glad to have visited it! We only had a fifteen minute wait (tho we went pretty late at night), and we spent our time exploring the garden and taking pictures on the bridge. Their crab angels were absolutely DELICIOUS- it was the best crab Rangoon I've ever had in my life. Genuinely. Our entrees were also very very good. I'm a pescatarian, and they had wonderful veggie options that I really enjoyed. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive as well. The food is good but we waited an hour and 10 minutes for it after waiting 40 minutes for a table. My pad see ew came out sort of congealed, so I know it had been sitting. Got our checks, hinted we would like to hustle out of here but waitress took our cards and proceeded to take 3 tables orders while we sit and wait for our checks. This was my experience the last couple times I have been here. Unfortunate but I will remember this time. I hate that I brought my out of town family here for this. read more

Wow, now I see why the parking lot was full on a Wednesday night. Very unique place. They have an outdoor garden setting that is gorgeous - ask for table there if available. Food was delicious and portions are huge. Split entree unless you plan on taking some home. I had the Happy Asian Melody (at hot level) it was absolutely delicious. Our party of 4 adults had 4 different dishes. They all looked exactly the same except for the selected protein. Aside from the spice, there was no flavor in any of them. No detectable garlic or ginger. After our 2 sampler appetizer platters which were marginal, our food came out lukewarm with rice that was room temperature/cold. We ate outside. Very uncomfortable seating. Nice environment but the huge number of flies was overwhelming to the the extent that none of us wanted to finish our meals. I realize the establishment has no control over the fly population but it just made things worse. I am retired & we eat out a decent amount but I have to say that all 4 meals were the worst I've experienced in a very long time. Negative 5 stars for Indochine. read more

There were several open tables outside but were told none were available... but I don't know if the servers have a limited number of tables. The ambiance and decor of this entire place is top notch, beautifully decorated with Asian inspired decor everywhere. We dined inside because it was raining but the outside dining area is equally as beautiful. One of my girlfriends and I did a day trip down to Wilmington and stopped by for lunch. We had a really sweet server who told us to take our time but at the same time rushed us to leave and we were in the restaurant for barely an hour. However, we got the Pad Ki Mao and Pad Thai. Both were savory, flavorful and delicious. Came out hot and we throughly enjoyed it until our server packed up our food before we finished. Would come back to try more dishes. read more

My favorite place to come to in Wilmington! It has the coolest atmosphere - from the lanterns, gardens, fountains, and huts to eat at in the back. And the food is just as good! The appetizer sampler was amazing, and we always love the pineapple rice and teriyaki noodles. Only downside is the long waits. But expected with a cool spot like this one. We grabbed a drink at the bar and ventured around the property while we waited. All in all - definitely a priority stop when visiting Wilmy! read more

Indochine is such a fun place to visit while in Wilmington. Although the outside seating is closed when there is a chance of rain, the interior is also vibrant. Prices are a bit steep for Thai food at around $20 or $21 for curry, but both our curries were delicious with huge portions. Definitely a must stop next time we're in town! read more

Don't come here after 5pm if you expect to be seated within a reasonable time. Both times we were here at around 6 and they told us wait time is 2 hours. Although the food is good, it's not worth waiting 2 hours for it! No reservation service either. Be warned that they pared down the menu significantly since May. read more

One of the most authentic Thai restaurants I've been to, they even have the queen's photo up and a copy of her crown. This is what I would call an "experience restaurant" and there's only two that I know of in NC, the other being the Angus Barn in Raleigh. This restaurant immerses you into the Thai culture and environment. The most coveted seating is the little huts outback that are named after cities in Thailand...expect to wait to get one!! Outside is by far my favorite place to eat here. Last time I went I was seated by the serene koi pond. There is typically a wait for seats year round as this place is extremely good and thus extremely popular. The Thai food is exactly how you would find it if you were in Thailand, the same dishes and flavor profiles. However, the portions are a bit Americanized, we fat y'all, so they are a bit bigger. If you have a normal appetite expect to take some food with you. If you're big boned, savor every last bite and enjoy it while it lasts. The Pad Thai with shrimp with medium heat is my goto here. It is perfect. The crab angels are my favorite appetizer but I alternate between it and the banana blossom salad. The mango sticky rice is probably the best I've had at any Thai restaurant, you can't go wrong with it...next level. Service is top notch too. You will have to wait but just get yourself a drink at the bar and walk around and look at all the different areas and items. Chill yo, no need to get mad because your table isn't ready on time. People tend to sit longer at the tables outside because it's such a calming and relaxing place to eat. New for 2024 they have a little gift shop out front, go check it out. I loved this place back when I was in college in 2008. So for my beach trip this year, I wanted to come back and relive old memories. I was a little disappointed. The place looked the same: unique decor throughout the main dining area and in the back, outside seating in a beautiful garden. My party sat outside for dinner. I DO NOt recommend this because one: the chairs outside are made of wood/bamboo- they splinter and I got one in my finger; two: the place is swarming with mosquito!!! If mosquitos love you, stay inside!! Between my daughter, son and I, we had over 30 mosquito bites even before we received our appetizer. We requested to move inside, but they were busy and weren't fast enough to accommodate us until after our entrees arrived. So we had to move ourselves and our own food to the new table. I was too busy scratching and swatting mosquitos to really enjoy the food. Order: egg rolls, seafood bird nest, salmon, mango sticky rice, banana eggroll ice cream. I can only recall my husband complaining that the salmon wasn't seasoned enough. Aside from the bad outdoor seating experience and the lack of urgency from the staff to fix the trouble, I think their food is worth trying out; indoors or to-go. read more

This place is famous especially for its exotic ambiance...and it was already bustling as it opened at 11 am. After touring the place, we chose to be seated outside....luckily by the Koi fish pond. As expected, the ambiance was indeed stunning...It really felt as if I was in Thailand! Now the foods! I ordered the Shrimp Pad Thai and this cocktail, "Knockout". Well, here's where I have to dock a star. I ordered Shrimp, but ended up with Chicken Pad Thai. It was really good though...and SO plentiful! Also, this drink "Knockout" was NOT a knockout. It barely had any alcohol in it...very weak. Oh Well. I also tried this Fried Calamari, and this Imperial Pineapple Fried Rice that my friend swore by...and they were both delish! Both entree dishes (Pad Thai and Fried Rice) were really tasty, and the portions were HUGE...so much so that I boxed more than half to go. Also, surprisingly, everything was quite affordably priced. As amazing as it was outside, I will say that there were one too many insects hovering our table. Think maybe next time I'll vote to eat indoors. Service was a bit sketchy...in that they needed a few more waiters-waitresses. Eventually I did get a pretty good waitress, who was very friendly and did her best...but again, I think she was quite overloaded with tables. Truly, their lavish ambiance was 6+, but the wrong food (Chicken Pad Thai, whereas I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai?), and the weak cocktail was enough to sink the ratings to 4. Despite a few misses, I still loved this restaurant... definitely enough to return, hopefully with my husband next time. Why is one of my favorite restaurants in the world located so far away from NYC??? I swear, Indochine needs a second location in the city stat! If they did, I would be there frequently. Hell, I'd fly to Wilmington just to hit this place up. Can someone buy me a private jet? Any trip to Indochine would not be complete without a Tiki drink! And if you visit on a nice day when you can go outside and enjoy your drink in their giant, lush Tiki Bar and Japanese-style garden, you will be even more pleased. The drinks are strong and yummy, and the view outside is incredible. As for food, you can't wait go wrong with anything here. My favorites include the fried pork egg rolls, Green Curry, and Drunken Noodles! But you can order anything and will be happy (and likely have extra for the next day because their portions after huge and satisfying). As for atmosphere, the inside is spacious and inviting (maybe not as inviting as outside, which is a showstopper), and the Asian decor helps create an authentic ambiance! If you are near Wilmington, check this place out. And, yes, there will be a LONG wait... so grab a drink, walk around, and patiently wait for a life-changing dining experience!! I struggled to give this place a four because the food is really somewhere between a 1 and a 2. But the ambiance and service are both 5's so I averaged up. Sit out back in the beautiful courtyard. Order an iced Thai tea. Get a couple of appetizers. Don't order the pad Thai, Penang curry, or anything with their own house made sauces. They are bland and utterly tasteless. No discernible Thai spices detected. Still, a great place to take out of town visitors because the decor is worth the visit. read more
