Astera Heating, Cooling and Appliance Repair - Astera Service

Astera Heating, Cooling and Appliance Repair

They do provide the service requested and gave me a link to make an appointment. We'll see how things go in a couple of days. The repair man, Alex, was prompt and identified the problem - two problems, actually. He was able to get the dryer running again, better than it had been. Reasonable price

Do not call or trust these people! They were supposed to do a routine maintenance on our a/c unit…read more They claimed it would cost $79 on the phone, which sounds more than fair. But when they came, the technician claimed it would be another $180 to clean the unit and that we needed to clean the unit before he could finish the inspection, which is totally a scam as we have used another company who did all of it for one flat $99 fee but wasn't available since we are selling our home and wanted to get it done sooner than later. And then he tried to upsell again by saying our Freon was low. But we declined since we had to pay $80 just for him to visually inspect our unit without being able to complete the inspection. So now we have to do the entire thing again with another hvac servicer, one that is actually honest and not upsell a routine maintenance into an almost $300 charge! We even spoke with the owner/manager who said nothing could be done. So they won't even work with you, and you have to pay $80 just to get them to leave without really doing anything of any value. So save yourself the money and the headache and look elsewhere! In response to the business manager: I gave AI screen shots of our interactions and people can read their take on our situation. The fact that you deleted the part where I took a screen shot of you telling us to go ahead and allow the technician to do the work and that we would discuss price later is proof of your dishonesty (see photos). I never said it was for 3 furnaces. I said that we had 3 hvac units and one furnace was being repaired for a minor gas leak, which was fixed. And that we don't have a/c bc we need a functioning furnace. And who services furnaces in the summer? And the fact remains that we were told one price, and that you guys could not complete the maintenance per that quoted price. If that was the case, he should have left and not charge us anything. Instead we had to pay $80 for nothing essentially since the maintenance could not be completed. It also doesn't change the fact that you guys charge an egregious fee for cleaning, which is why we declined the service. He said he had to open up the unit and even maybe clean it with chemicals. This is absolutely unheard of. Our normal HVAC service providers are honest people and have been maintaining our units for many years and they have never told us we had to open up our unit to clean it (which is risky for routine maintenance). You guys have proven that you do not behave honestly, and instead, are a lower/reasonable cost on the phone and up charge for unnecessary work when on site when most people feel they are already stuck with you. Who in their right mind would agree to have someone do the work and then decide on the cost (as you admitted to below)? That is just another way to get us stuck with the work with no idea of what the total actual cost would be. No professional contractor operates like that, and no one should agree to work before knowing the cost. And we are not the only customers who felt scammed and over priced if you read other unhappy customers. I should have read the reviews more closely as you also service appliances which skews your reviews for smaller less complex jobs, making it harder to ascertain your credibility and affordability for just HVAC. But my review stands as is, and nothing is being misrepresented. Maybe this review will help you take another look at your business practices, and if you cannot complete the job you were sent for, you shouldn't charge for it. You should also do a better job getting clarification on the work. I assumed you knew it was for a/c annual maintenance. The fact that we had our furnace repaired shouldn't impact that and you guys should know better than that. Otherwise, how can you call yourself an hvac service provider if you don't even know that you need to service air conditioners in the summer and furnaces for the winter? So your excuse about the wrong work being performed is entirely on you as the service provider, not on me and not on my husband. And I never said I wanted 3 furnaces to be maintained so go back and listen to the call as that was never said. And my husband never agreed about the wrong work being scheduled, further reducing your credibility. They can quote whatever they like, but it doesn't excuse that they pressured us to do work before even telling us the price (see photo), they are over priced, incompetent if they think they need to open up an a/c unit to clean it (which is risky) plus no one maintains their furnaces in the summer. Given that we had to repair a gas leak in our furnace, I just wanted to see if it was working okay because the a/c won't work if the furnace won't work. So there are no inaccuracies in my review, but there are glaring issues with this company and how they operate. People can read all of this should they choose to and make up their own minds. IMHO this business is someone you want to avoid.

Mr Duct

Mr. Duct sent Miguel out to clean our ducts. He did a great job. For those looking at duct cleaning…read moreservices, you should look for National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) certified shops. You should also shop around because some places offer bonus services that you may or may not need, or may even be hazardous to the occupants of the home, like sealants or chemicals. Check the EPA page on "Should You Have the Air Ducts in Your Home Cleaned?" for a thorough treatment of the topic, though note that it's much less enthusiastic about duct cleaning than people's subjective experiences, especially people with allergies or sensitivities, or if you've just done a remodel. I'd refer to "Is it worth it to get your air ducts cleaned?" on r/homeowners and "Is air duct cleaning a scam?" on r/hvacadvice. With that out of the way, Miguel cleaned our ducts quite thoroughly. He inserted the vacuum to the air handling unit. This would provide the negative pressure to ensure most of the dust and debris would go to the vacuum. Then he use a air compressor to knock loose the dust at each register and as far into the ventilation as he could push the nozzle. My registers unfortunately went up towards the attic, so dust was guaranteed to get knocked loose into the room, so we had to vacuum. This would have gone smoother if Mr. Duct had sent a partner with Miguel. Miguel was also very helpful in airdropping the photos of the ducts to my phone, which was important because we were trying to identify what might be triggering allergic reactions. For roughly $300, it was very reasonable. I would recommend Mr. Duct to those who need duct cleaning services.

I wish he would've been more careful and taken his time he would have better work quality. Price was good, I would hire them again but not have the same gentleman do the project.

The home warranty company gave me dates of availability but Steve called me right away asking if he could come out the following day. He advised that my heater needed a cleaning, and told me what the issue was. I know he didn't try to upsell or provide unnecessary services as a prior serviceman told the home warranty company the same thing and I knew it was not covered Steve fixed the issue and cleaned the heater within 1.5 hours. He was extremely professional, showed me where the issue was and how it wasn't working. Great service and I would highly recommend.

Steve's office called seconds after the claim was filed, I had not even gotten off the call with the warranty company. That's some fast office work! Unfortunately no same day appointments were available so they set up a next day morning appointment. Steve showed up on time and brought all the necessary tools and parts for the repair. He was nice to speak to and highly focused on his work. The job was completed quickly and Steve avoided conversation until he finished the repair so as to maintain focus and reduce delays in the repair due to chatting. Having no A/C is no fun! Some reviewers mention rudeness and arrogance, we got none of that, maybe he was having a bad day on those service calls. He was very quiet during the repair process but pleasant and easy to work with at the end of the repair process. If you are looking for an HVAC contractor who knows their stuff Steve's company is a good choice to look into!

After having spent a considerable amount of time meeting with and evaluating a number of…read moreestablished plumbers to do a considerable amount of work at our home, including adding a large section of new copper piping, installing a Reverse Osmosis filtration system, installing a new water heater and also a hot water circular pump...for instant hot water throughout our home, we ended up convinced that Cahill Plumbing was not only a company of the highest integrity that could be relied upon, both now and over the months and years ahead, but that their team of licensed plumbers had the resources, knowledge and skill to do the right things the right way. We have had many of our projects completed now...with several more about to get underway and I am happy to report that we are 100% happy with our choice as well as all of the work that has been completed so far. On the day before the project got underway, Cahill's Plumbing Director, Andy Visconti...a man in whom we have complete confidence, called to review what his team would do and who he had dispatched to do the job. Three plumbers, two licensed and one journeyman, arrived on time, covered their boots, explained their strategy in detail, answered all of our questions and then worked efficiently all day, stopping only to answer any question I might have had and provide me with a detailed progress report. If they experienced anything unforeseen, which is bound to happen in projects of this size, they called it to my attention and explained their workaround solution. It was fascinating to witness their teamwork and creativity. Disclaimer: I should state that I had no prior relationship, either personal or professional, with Cahill or any of their employees, including those who did such excellent work at our home last week: Tyler, who managed the project...and besides being a kind and very friendly young man, is excellent at what he does; Austin, Tyler's very capable assistant and Matt, the rookie, neither of whom ever appeared to stop to take a breath. Working together, they were a formidable team you could rely on and trust. Bottom Line If you need any plumbing done at your home, be it a large or small project, you'd be wise to give Cahill a chance to do the right things, right! We rate Cahill FIVE STARS and are very happy and confident to have them available to be 'our plumbers' from now on! Cahill is a company you can trust and be confident in. Mm...did I mention how fair and reasonable their pricing was? It was!
