I have been trying to order a hinge for a month now. This company doesn't respond to online inquiries apparently. I've been a builder for 40 years and know exactly what I want. I asked for a price quote online on May 18th 2026. Today it's officially one month since my request. First time customer and the experience could not have been better! The owner must be an efficiency expert/guru! From the moment I arrived I was greeted and asked if I had any questions. I placed a custom order and then was quickly directed to some pre-fab ornamental items that I needed. I was then directed to the back parking lot to wait for my order in a clearly marked parking spot and was given a number to text. Before I was able to finish the text, a customer service rep was at my window asking for my cell number. She said my order was almost complete - same for the text I received back. Man, talk about a well-oiled machine, and I'm just a DIY homeowner! Oh, and I forgot to mention, the store was spotless which isn't easy for a metal shop! The husband sent me on a mission to pick up some manly supplies for the shop. It was like going into the land of the unknown! I called in to have some questions answered about a request from one of my customers, they wanted "weathered" looking metal along with its applications and uses, so I decided to call the metal pros. TIP** Make sure you brush up on your high school welding class before embarrassing yourself by asking dumb rookie questions.*** I ask the guy if they have "weathered looking metal", he tells me "we don't have anything that has the word 'weathered' in it" as if my question was being presented by some clown. So instead of asking questions to identify my needs, he acted confused because I wasn't using the correct "industry terminology" I suppose. After rambling on about how smart he is with metal, I end up asking another ridiculously stupid question about adhesion, which only frustrates him further that I am so metallic-ally uneducated, that I LITERALLY heard his eyeballs roll back in his head over the phone. If you do call this place for questions, make darn sure that you speak the language of the blacksmith. My mistake: "Hello, I have a customer looking for a weathered looking metal for a project" What I SHOULD have said: "Greetings fellow blacksmith, I'm looking for a composite of Iron containing between 0.002% to 2.1% carbon, finished with a faint surface of Fe2O3. I am also wondering if a polymer of vinyl acetate, chemical formula C4H6O2, would adhere to the Fe2O3 surface. Sorry for being so dumb, guys read more

These guys are jerks ....decided to give them another chance after they screwed me once. Let's say you buy a 20 foot piece of tubing they will only cut it in half for you. This makes the Math of the project Wrong. As a hobbyist metalworker I have always been a little intimidated by this place, and the reviews weren't doing them any favors. However, Reasey saw me wandering around and came out from the back to help me. When he saw me waiting to pay, he opened a register and rung me up. While I waited for my metal to be cut, he took the time to walk me to the remnants area, showed me where to find the best stuff, and gave me tips for getting the best deals. IMS is so frustrating. I like their products as I weld for personal enjoyment, but they are so bad at stocking their showroom! Many times, the bins that should hold product are empty. The last two times, they said "we can cut that for you". The problem is that you have to wait up to an hour for product that should be on their shelves!! They don't realize that their customers' time is $$ and they are robbing us of our productivity when we have to wait around. We live in the 21st century and they should have an inventory control system to keep items stocked!! I called the manager and asked for a call back: nothing! I called their corporate offices and they said "call the manager." This is clearly a management problem and I don't recommend this place if you can keep from doing business with them.
