Wow I love this store. We stopped here to get a few things on our way to Franklin North Carolina The store is laid out beautifully. We ended up getting some awesome fried Chicken and they have a full olive bar wow. So we grabbed a bunch of unique olives. And sone Mac Salad and a few other items So when I got to the register I asked the lady if there was any way we could could get the discount because we we're from out of town. She said no but then one of the customers that was in the other lane spoke up and said you can use my card I said well thank you. That's saved us about $5. I wish we had these in Florida kind of reminds me of a of a Publix. Very nice store I wish I could come back again one day. read more

We stopped here to pickup some dinner as we were heading to Franklin TN, from Helen GA. We knew we would be exhausted when we arrived and nixed dining out for getting to bed early to explore Franklin TN, the next morning. I've never been to Ingles before so this was a fun experience. They remind me of one of the larger Publix stores in our area. We stopped to get some creamer, a few snack items, a mixed box of fried chicken, macaroni salad, and a variety of items from their salad bar area - marinated mushrooms, a selection of olives, fresh mozzarella balls, marinated sundried tomatoes, and dolmades. We were in and out in 15-minutes. Staff were super friendly and so were the customers. One of the customers was nice enough to let us use her customer loyalty rewards, which was great. The store was very clean, organized, and well stocked. I would definitely shop here again if we are ever traveling in the area. read more

I haven't been to an Ingles in a while and just always remember them as "the mountains grocery store chain" from time spent when my in-laws lived in the NC mountains. Also remember them as OK but not great. My opinion moved from OK to definitely good based on multiple visits while in the Hiawassee area on vacation. They are very well stocked and have what I would consider some luxury-ish ingredients to boot (Natalie's OJ instead of just Tropicana or Simply Orange for example). The produce we bought was all decent save some packaged green leaf lettuce where the outer leaves were kind of wilted/brown. Bought steaks for grilling one night that were good quality and flavor, was directed by the Seafood Manager to some frozen local NC shrimp when I needed more than he had at the counter. They cooked up well as part of a shrimp boil and were of great quality. There was not one thing we needed during the trip that this Ingles did not have. Don't expect a smile when you go in. I call this place "the most saddest place on earth." I shop here weekly. Look at your receipts and watch when an item is scanned. The item will be marked as a sale, but scans much higher. Sometimes the item will be left like that for the supposed duration of the sale, even after I mention it over and over. If you feel lucky and go through U scan, watch the lady there. She works during the day. She's gray haired, short, with glasses. No sweetness from her. She will watch as If you are trying to steal something, invading space while moaning and complaining. The prices are always wrong, be careful when you mention the price is wrong to her...because she will snap at you. This lady is always at U Scan. Good luck, you'll going to need it. read more

Horrible service in bakery. Rude older gray hair woman on the plus side was bothered when asked about cake flavors. My wife heard her cussing and complaining to coworker about it after i walked to deli . Our neighbor said he had the same experience with this same lady named Nita the week before. If you shop at the Ingles in Hiawassee, please check the price of EVERY item you buy when you are checking out. Week after week, about 30% of what we have in our cart rings up higher than the advertised price. The clerks just laugh it off and say "oh, we need to update our system". If we do shop there, we take a photo of every item with the price listed on the shelf so we can check it when checking out. I really don't think this is accidental and I'm sure they make a lot of profit off of people who aren't paying attention. read more

What a great regional super market from the rather bucolic Ingle's clan. Got the obligatory rip-off Starbucks but also good hot foods, bakery, fish monger, and small but nice wine selection. Clean as a whistle, nice helpful staff and decent prices. The"Floridiits" ( refugees from FL who don't yet understand the advantages of living in an income tax fee state) a kind crowd that drives to damn fast, but they're mostly nice folks trying to fit in. Get yourself a Subaru and a pair of Oshkosh by-damn-Gosh overalls and do some serious grocery shopping at this rival to Publix. "Ain't no Trader Joe's or Whole Foods, but it's good anyway" a retired drug dealer fromMiami told me in the check out line. And if you're in the Federal Witness Relocation Program, come on down. The local Club Chapter meets on Tuesday Nites at the back room of the VFW. Seriously now, great place to live and to shop! Visited Ingles Market in Hiawassee, Georgia today. Always liked Ingles and shop at my local Ingles in another town. Used their bathroom facilities (Female), it was the most unclean restroom I have been in for years. Almost all toilets were dirty, one handicap toilet was out of order. Toilet paper, trash on floor and fecal matter on walls. The smell was awful in the store. This was not just from one or two days of not cleaning, but weeks of neglect. Needs to be corrected as Ingles is such a great shopping place for most communities here in Northeast Georgia. read more

First time in an Ingles store and I enjoyed it! All of the associates were pretty friendly and helpful.. they had some organic/gluten free options. I wish they had more variety for protein bars like Garden of Life or something. They had like 15 different bars that were totally sold out, which I understand-- the hikers probably are in and buy them out regularly haha would definitely come back here when I'm in the area! read more

Traveling through South Carolina we came across this store- American owned for the cheapest gas around! I went inside and found my European Margarette daisies for $6!!!!! I personally witnessed frozen ground beef in 5 lb tubes cut into hamburgers on the bandsaw in the meat department. The hamburger was left in it plastic! Doing this turns the plastic into almost like a plastic dust which is actually pushed into the hamburger. These burgers were then packaged and put out to be sold. They were full of plastic "dust"! The amazing thing is it was a member of upper management the did this. How many children ate these? It was the 4th of July! I cant imagine the potential health issues this could have contributed too. read more

We're from Florida, so we thought that Publix would be hard to beat, but I'd be happy to have Ingles come to Tallahassee. Employees are very friendly and helpful (a rarity in our times). Selection is great, including an outstanding array of fresh vegetables, premium meats and sea foods, and a deli that is like a buffet restaurant inside a grocery store. read more

A truly excellent example of what happens when you're the biggest and best grocery store in a small town. As Wendy alluded to in her too-short review, the bakery is what really makes this Ingles stand out. From their muffins-of-incredible-size-and-taste to their divinely inspired M&M cookies - this bakery has it all. Another inspired offering are their hot and salad bars. The selection rivals Whole Foods in "the city" and I love stopping here for a custom salad before running up to the cabin. read more

We buy our groceries each week here after moving from Alabama and shopping at Publix and Walmart. It's a fair place, it has always been clean. Drawbacks are that they don't restock often enough and customer service can be pretty bad when checking out. At Publix after purchasing over 300.00 per week on groceries I never had to bag my own goods or at least have the offer of taking to the car. Not so here lately at Ingles, young employees run like your hair is on fire when you get to their new registers and 19 year old managers are too busy trying to socialize to enforce good customer service. We will keep going as there is little choices here but I can assure you if a Publix comes in, they will wish they had cultivated a better customer service expectation from their employees read more

I stopped by Ingles Hiawassee #483 today9/30 @ as I was in the area. I love Ingles however today was not positive for me. I generally shop at the Blairsville Ingles and pay with my credit card. I ran in today just for fresh fruit and my bill was not much ($7) so I decided to check myself out and pay cash. I love to check myself out however I experienced issues and had to call for the attendant. It was approximately 2:30 p.m. I called for the attendant and she rolled her eyes. I paid and left. This was not a professional nor a positive attitude. read more

The store is fine, but the bakery inside is TERRIBLE!! I needed a smash cake and cupcakes for my one year olds birthday party. The clerk's were super rude to me and each other! It was awful. They couldn't do the simple design I asked for so I planned to do it myself and just get the cake from them (they couldn't even do mini cupcakes for it). I ordered a plain white 5in cake 10 days in advance. The ONLY thing they were to do was to put a Primary Red border around the bottom. I even asked the clerk taking the order to show me an example to make sure we are talking basic, primary red. When I got there the day of my event to pick up my cake it was PINK! Now I know it may seem dramatic to pick between pink and red, but seriously it's a cake and that's the only thing that they had to get right. When i complained, the clerk working said "well I am color blind so I don't know. And there's no one here to help you but me. I'll let them k ow you weren't happy" Seriously? No offer go fix it, nothing!! I bought one of the pre-made cakes (the left one in the picture of course) and had to take the top decoration off myself. I told the manager (who also let go of one of my balloons that I was getting filled and has to wait 20 minutes to get it down) and all she said was that she hoped my day got better. Wow, a supermarket, boars head sandwich bar massive bakery Starbucks and great fresh food.

This grocery store rocks. It has a great selection of beer, wine, cheese, olives for snacks and a killer hot bar and sandwich shop, plus a butcher who can help with cuts of meat. And the homemade chicken salad ??? OMG I love it. They cater to the weekend crowd while still being a great place to shop for locals. It's much better than my Publix and Kroger in an upscale part of Atlanta. There's also a Starbucks locates in the store, along with a Redbox, if you still use DVDs. I'm just glad they stock French, Italian and other wines -- not just the American brands like my Publix. read more

Dirty is what comes to mind in at this store. There were layers of rotten spilled milk throughout the refrigerator that held the gallons of milk. The store is dirty throughout, even the belts you place your groceries on. The Starbucks inside is great. read more
