I stayed 5 nights when volunteering for the Iditarod. The hotel was extremely clean, well run and all the staff were helpful and professional. The room was comfortable. I felt extremely safe, actually safer than staying at a Hilton or Sheraton where lots of people are constantly coming and going and no one is paying attention. It was also great to have a kitchen with a full set of pots cooking implementd etc. I recommend the place highly. The hotel was within a 20 minutes walk to Anchorage downtown. read more

I had a very good experience with Ingra House. I made my reservation directly on their web site and had no issues. The area is a bit sketchy, nothing too crazy though. Ingra House takes security seriously; a room key is required to enter the building, and no guests or pets allowed. I felt safe while there. The rooms are small, basic, and clean, and were perfect for what I needed. The bathrooms are "shared", but are for one person at a time with locks on the doors, so privacy was not an issue. The bathrooms were always clean, and I saw staff regularly cleaning them during both days and evenings. And the price can't be beat. I would definitely stay at Ingra House again. read more

5 star for a reason, first off when we arrived a very concerned gentleman asked if he could help, we where a little taken back, but my fiancé responded by giving her name and saying our room has been reserved, to which he responded by taking immediate attention to checking us in! He asked for I.D. to which we complied, by providing him with aforementioned identification. Then he proceeded to give instructions on our keycards,for exit door/our rooms,there was a quaint little kitchen, and the bathrooms were clean, you do have to share, but it was fine. We came in from out of town and unfamiliar with the area. It only took a couple of minutes to see this place is in a rougher looking area but we were only going to stay a day or two. It appears to be in the flight path of a small airport, Merrill field? While off loading our bags we witnessed small aircraft flying low over the building. Travelling on a budget but trying to maintain a certain level of comfort in Alaska during summer is definitely a mission. But Ingra House Hotel definitely helped me with that! Over the course of 10 days I stayed here 3 different times in between flights/train trips. Funny enough, every time I got a room on a different floor. Every floor does have their own bathroom(s) and kitchen, but you can use facilities on any floor if the ones on your floor are busy. The lower floor rooms have a low ceiling, which for me was the best blacked out from sunlight (which was present from 430am to 1130pm). The main and upper floor didn't black out the sun that well. You always get one large towel and one face towel along with shower gel and shampoo. There is a big fridge in every room, so it's easy to store leftovers and drinks. There's a gas station across the road for some easy snacks. Hairdryers are available upon request at the front desk. The room itself was clean enough, although the bedding definitely has seen better days. There were laundry detergent stains as well as thinned out fabric (and holes) here and there. Didn't seem like they got ironed either. For the bathrooms I'd say, bring flipflops. Depending on who used them before you, there might be soap and/or hair everywhere. They could use an additional daily cleanup tbh. For people that have stayed in hostels before, this is nothing shocking or new. Being a solo, female traveler, feeling safe is a high priority. I was glad to see that the front doors lock and you need to swipe your key-card to open them. Most of the time there is someone at the front so it's highly unlikely any random people would wander in. The area around the hotel is walkable and I walked to the center quite a few times which is about 20min. Guaranteed you won't find better price/quality in Anchorage! read more

Definitely a great value hotel that I booked through Expedia. My Dad and I only needed to stay for one night in July of 2019 as we had a quick stopover in Anchorage, having come from Fairbanks with plans to depart the following day to head down to Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. One of the things I am most appreciative for regarding Ingra House was that we were able to store some of our luggage here for like four days while we went up to Fairbanks on a small plane with a weight limit. Our luggage was safe and sound and I am so thankful they let us drop everything off early - even though we weren't checking in for a couple of days. The hotel was walking distance to our dinner spot and the room was clean. There were kitchen areas but as I mentioned, we went out for dinner. The showers were communal (shared) and just down the hall. We didn't have a problem with them being occupied or anything like that. I believe there was also (paid) laundry on site although for once on the trip we didn't take advantage of it. We also stayed at the Sockeye Hotel earlier in the trip - another good value hotel in Anchorage. Oh, another thing to note: I had shipped a box of various items (resupply box for backpacking food, etc.) to Ingra House Hotel in advance of our trip and it was safe and sound when we arrived. Our plane was scheduled to arrive at Airport around 1 am. So we searched reasonable price place and booked Ingra hotel. Kindly owner left room key in the outside mailbox. We are campers, so no problem with common shower and toilets. Actually it was clean and nice. Even shampoo was provided. Owner was nice and let us leave luggage after checking out. Nothing but good things to say about Ingra House! My bedroom was secure and comfortable, with a good-sized refrigerator and freezer and storage. The kitchen had two stoves w/ ovens, a microwave, an electric kettle, and a coffee maker with complementary coffee grounds and tea bags, as well as pots, pans, and cooking utensils. The bathroom was secure and spacious, and both kitchen and bathroom were cleaned daily. The manager was extremely friendly and welcoming. I stayed for one full week and found it safe, comfortable, and secure. Highly recommend to anyone looking to use Anchorage as a home-base for their Alaska trip without breaking the bank, including solo female travelers like myself. read more

Good value, clean rooms , communal bathrooms, and communal kitchen, like a hostel. I didn't like going down the hall in the middle of the night to the bathroom, but I did know about it when I booked. Read the description! The staff was friendly, and I sat outside talking to the manager for awhile one evening. We chose this place for price and because it was very close to Enterprise car rental. I have been staying at the Ingra house for the past 3 weeks and I have really enjoyed my stay so far. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and nice the rooms and the common areas of the house are. My room was immaculate when I checked in, there are definitely no bed bugs or musty hotel room smells here. The shared bathrooms always smell fresh and clean because they are thoroughly cleaned by employees at least twice a day. The shared kitchens are fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans, kitchen appliances, and cooking utensils and are always kept clean and tidy! They also keep the kitchens stocked with plastic cups, plastic silverware, paper towels, coffee, creamer, and sugar. They have an on site laundry facility with economy sized washers and dryers that are much more affordable than what the typical laundromat has. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the environment is relaxed and low key. So far it has been pretty quiet during the quiet time hours which are 10 PM to 7:00 AM. They enforce a rule that says guests can not have visitors in their room past 10 PM, so there aren't a lot of people coming and going at all hours. They also require visitors to sign in at the front desk with a state issued ID, which seems to keep most of the non-reputtable people away. I would recommend the Ingra House to almost anyone and I will definitely stay here again in the future :) The only people I would hesitate to recommend it to would be parents who will have babies or small children staying with them for the following reasons; 1) the rooms do not have private bathrooms or running water. and 2) the shared bathrooms only have showers without bath tubs, and they are not equipped with baby changing stations. read more

Stayed here for 3 days at first, thought it was OK, tried a another hotel for a day, hated my life, then came back here for a week. It's a great and cost effective hotel with shared fully stocked kitchen and bathroom/showers. Hotel guests were really clean and considerate and it felt like one big family. There are common rules that are easy to follow in a hostel-like type property , it's just that some people aren't cultured enough and decide to ignore and feel like they are above the simple etiquette rules enforced by the hotel. Max and Mike were amazing. Other staff also were great. Location is close to downtown and nice lakes/parks. Rooms were super clean and neat and all come with a fridge and cable TV and HBO and much more.If I will ever need to stay at a hotel in anchorage I'd surely go no where else. read more

This is a clean and safe place to stay for the budget conscious. The manager is so friendly and knowledgeable too and he lives onsite if you need him. Also the front door locks at 10pm for your safety but you get a code to come in later if you need the beds are double sized so we scrunched in and the municipal airport is nearby and they all fly right over the hotel so we got little sleep. No AC so if it's summer, be careful. The west side of the hotel is hot! The downtown area is nearby so that is handy. It's right on a major intersection. There is a cute hotel cat that we adored and supposedly there is coffee in the communal kitchen but it was empty each time we went in. No hand towel or soap in communal bathrooms so you have to remember to take those when you go. read more

This boarding house offers spacious rooms with a large fridge, free, wi-fi, off-street parking, and is located within walking distance to downtown Anchorage. Unfortunately, the rooms do not come with a private toilet or bath. There are two per floor located halfway of the hall. There is also no coffee maker in the rooms. Those would be located in the communal kitchen (with a limited supply of pots) which is open during certain hours. There is also a laundry station. This is highly recommended for travelers on a budget looking for a place to stay for an extended period. The only reason I stayed here was because Anchorage had gone into their summer rates thus costs of hotels doubled. I looked into some hostels but there were privacy issues, no lockers or a secure baggage room. As far as staff went, there were two people securing the building. One of them was remarkably nice and helpful, while the other wouldn't lift a finger to help. read more

After my reservations got cancelled because they over booked we googled hotels and this place had one room left.quickly booked it without even checking them out. from the second I walked in the door I loved it nice rooms very clean.This was the first time i stayed anywhere where I wasn't worried about the cleanliness. you could smell and see how clean it is. So we cancelled to prevent our account from going negative. Long story short, we have been charged twice and received one refund. Account is negative. I had a reservation for 3 people at Ingra House on August 14th. After paying at check in, we found out our room only had beds for 2 people! The staff offered us to move to another hotel, Sockeye Inn, and we did. They explained we would have to pay again at the check in at Sockeye Inn, but that we would be refunded for the night we never stayed at Ingra House (remember: because of their mistake with the reservation). It was two months ago and I didn't see my money back yet. I've called and e-mailed them several times. Their manager has already told me (by phone) there's been a problem with refunds, but this was 10 days ago and no more hearing from them yet. I have already asked if they can't make me a deposit and had no answer. Actually, none of my emails were answered. I am very tired and disappointed. I'm feeling like I have been stolen and I don't know what to do anymore to have my money back! read more

The Ingra House isn't fancy, but it's definitely a good deal for the money, and unlike most of the other cheaper hotels in town, it's clean, has cameras, and they lock the doors at night. First of all I want to say that this is an HONEST review. I wasn't a customer but I worked there for ONE day (3/31/16) one day because I knew after a few short hours of being there, I wouldn't ever step foot in that place again. If front desk(management) tells you that there's a $30 deposit for a double bed, DO NOT BELIEVE HIM! I sat there and listened to him tell nurmerous people that there was a deposit. Then whispered to me that there wasn't. He also lies to customers about not having rooms based of how you look. He told TWO customers there were no rooms available when there were indeed rooms to give. He asks them why they need a room like its his business to know! Two weeks ago, they had a suicide death. In the bathroom. Now tell me that's not scary! Also, He has blankets, sheets, and pillow cases all thrown in a room, unfolded, and also in places I know he would get in trouble for. Please don't waste your time going to Ingra house. You'll be wasting your time, and money! read more
