I went here during Thanksgiving break and was pleasantly surprised. In fact, it was so good that I decided to come back today. The pictures looked good, and the food itself did not disappoint. My first time, I got a quarter chicken with plantains, yuca frites, the bread roll, and the mild sauce. Everything was pretty good- I found myself getting full pretty quickly. In addition, I checked in and got the free ice cream- this was not that great, just tasted like ice with a hint of vanilla. Today, I got the quarter chicken again with plantains, but mac and cheese as the other side, and the medium and spicy sauces. I think I prefer the medium sauce. The mac and cheese is actually creamy and yummy! Food is cheap, tastes great, great portions, and fast service. Definitely recommend coming here! read more

Saw Inka right off I-35 while we were headed to the Round Rock Outlets. Approaching the parking lot....the smell let me know right away! Pollo a la brasa! Score! What a gem in No. Austin! Folks in Austin have a great spot! Make sure you get extra hot inka sauce with the chicken. Generous with the spices were on point. Moist flavorful chicken. Yucca fries were just as good. I would pass on the mac & cheese...I tried a small sample. You can't go wrong with 1/2 chix plate for 2. It was def worth the drive if you are coming from south of William Cannon. Plenty of seating. Wow. For some reason I had put off trying Inka Chicken for a few years. I wish I could go back and tell younger Cynthia to go NOW. I'm glad older Cynthia is much wiser. Today I ordered a 1/2 chicken combo with two sides, a drink and tortillas to share with my husband. For sides, I chose yucca fries and plantains. This chicken is incredible -- it has a salty, smoky spice rub and the meat is tender and delicious. I'm trying to stick to a low-carb diet, and this meal fits the bill. I had just tastes of the sides, and they were delicious. Fried plantains, sweet and syrupy just like a Cuban restaurant. The yucca fries are crisp and soft on the inside, delicious dipped in either the mild or spicy sauces. They have a drive-through, but it's not like any other fast food establishment I've visited. Inka Chicken is a really great neighborhood restaurant with a wide variety of options and amazingly seasoned food. The name is somewhat misleading. You think, they must just sell chicken and chicken based dishes. They do have amazing chicken BUT they also have really great whole food vegetarian options and you leave feeling satisfied and not unhealthy. I recommend getting the Yucca fries over the normal fries (regular does not travel well) and definitely get a side of the veggies! They are seasoned to perfection. read more

This chicken was phenomenal! When you walk in the door you think it can't possibly taste as good as it smells, but you're wrong. The flavor more than lives up to that amazing smell. The flavors are all through the chicken. The skin has a wonderful seasoning to it and the meat definitely picks up the marinade very well. I enjoyed it so much I went back the next day after work to pick up a chicken to take home. This is some really great chicken. I can't speak for the sides since I'm on a low carb thing, but they do look really good. The people were extremely friendly and the place has a great relaxed vibe to it. I am teetering between giving this place a 3.5 or a 4. I ordered a to-go portion of the half chicken Inka 2 combo which comes with two sides, a drink and either a roll or tortillas. The chicken itself was delicious. I get wary of chicken on the bone because usually it is not cooked through all the way. But Inka's chicken leg was well done while not being dry. Loved the yuca fries and fried plantains. They give you a choice between a mild and a "hot" sauce, but both sauces were extremely mild. My favorite was the lighter colored sauce. If you want extra sauces I believe they charge you an extra $.30 per sauce. Yelp check in free ice cream cone was decent. In all, I liked their chicken and would probably come back. read more

My favorite sides are the yucca fries and the plantains. They serve a mayo-based sauce that goes great with the yucca fries. I highly recommend it. Went here about an hour before closing and got a half chicken with seasonal veggies (green beans). The chicken was super delicious and juicy, the beans a tad too oily for me but also very good. My girlfriend got the lomo saltado which she also enjoyed. Staff was super friendly for us newbies and we will likely be back when we're in Austin next time. Great place! read more

So good! I'll admit it was my first time trying Peruvian food and I'm sold. The chicken was flavorful and a good texture, not chewy or dry at all. All of the sauces were impressive and paired beautifully. Plantains were such a good addition to the meal as well so I highly recommend getting theirs. This place is pretty good but they don't have online ordering and last time I tried to go through the drive-thru it was also shut down meaning you have to go inside. Sometimes you wanna order for delivery or pick up and you don't necessarily want to go in or have time to. At least ten times I wanted to order this chicken but picked something else for convenience. Message to the business- there are probably others like me. Your business would most likely increase if you fixed the drive thru and opened online ordering for delivery. read more

Running around looking for a quick bite for dinner, the BF suggested Inka Chicken. The dining area was nice and clean and we walked up to the counter where you ordered and your plate is made to order. We got the half chicken combo plate to share and the BF had been here before and definitely wanted the plaintains, which i wasn't sure about and the nice lady behind the counter and the BF suggested the yucca fries, i still wasn't sure so she asked if i would like a sample. How nice! i liked it and so we went with it. Topo Chico to drink and we were ready to dive in! I found the chicken super moist and yummy. The sauce was really tasty but the chicken really didn't need it. They also gave us corn tortillas which tasted pretty fresh too. Both were delicious, but the portion sizes were small in general, but especially for that price. Neither of us were totally full after. also, on the Tallarin, the long noodles had been cut extremely small and were difficult to eat because they couldn't be picked up by utensils. We have found our "Go To" chicken place. They have a drive thru so its very convenient! Due to dietary restrictions, I am unable to eat fried - breaded chicken. Now we have found a place that offers delicious chicken that is pretty much healthy. This chicken is cooked rotisserie style on wood and charcoal flames. We ordered the Inka Chicken Family Dinner 1. This comes with one whole chicken and two large sides, along with two types of salsa and a choice of either corn tortillas or rolls. The chicken is cut up in four pieces - breast/wing and thigh/leg. This chicken is absolutely amazing! It has the best seasonings, is moist, and just dang right amazingly delicious!!!! For the sides we ordered: -Macaroni and Cheese: This was better than we expected. It did not have the box taste we assumed it would have. It was creamy and cheesey and pretty good. -Yuca Fries: This was the first time trying this dish. The texture is like a steak french fry, very filling. It was pretty dang good. We were pleasantly surprised. The tortillas were corn and we received eight of them. They were rather delicious - fresh and of good quality. The salsas!! O wow! I have had salsas as I live in Austin and do like Mexican and Tex-Mex food. But this salsa was probably the best I have ever tried. One was green the other white (described as yellow in the menu). The green was a bit spicier but both were so flavorful and neither was too spicy we could not eat it. This was a very pleasant surprise and I would go back for the salsa alone. We did go through the drive thru so we did not see the inside of the place. The service was fast and friendly, the prices as expected. I have known about this place for at least a decade. I never actually went there till today. Well, that was a decade of missed opportunity! This place is amazing! * Most commercial rotisserie chicken in the US is not good. The only rotisserie chicken I have ever loved came out of a delicatessen in Rio de Janeiro. Inka's chicken blows away my place in Rio de Janeiro, putting it number one on my Global List. The chicken comes with a fine pepper sauce and a fine herb-ed mayonnaise. They are lovely, but I frankly prefer the chicken all by itself with no distractions. It has a magnificent char, but the skin is redolent with herbs and spices The char taste will take you to the moon. The grease factor (a curse of rotisserie chickens) is near zero. Not totally zero but pretty damn low. The meat is filled with chicken taste. Inka's also has the whole run of Peruvian side dishes, and offers Peruvian desserts and Peruvian beverages - sometimes on an informal "special dish on a cardboard sign on the cash register" basis. I suspect those other dishes are well worth doing. But this is the best chicken in Austin that I know of - until you are patronizing the upper end of the fine dining estabishments.
