I think we are officially obsessed with food trucks. Hamilton Park food trucks are our favorites. We usually Yelp what we want to eat. Lately, our top rated Yelp reviews are with food trucks. Today we were in the mood for Pad Thai, which brought us to Weladee Thai Kitchen. Weladee means "good times" in Thai. Interestingly, Weladee Thai kitchen has three entrees Pad Thai,Tom Kha and Pad Ka Pro. Pina, the owner, said she used to have 5 menu items but all she can handle currently is 3. She is the only one working in the food truck. Pina was super friendly and personable. Now, for the Pad Thai...the box felt very heavy. It was enough Pad Thai in the box to feed 3 hungry people. The noodles were fresh, soft and flavored well. There were big chunks of chicken in the Pad Thai and it was extra tender. The meal was at the perfect spice level. I've been around Austin so long I remember Satay was the only Thai place around! Then there's Thai Kitchen where I've eaten for over 36 years. Then there's my newest favorite Thai Cuisine by my house... their tofu and veggies Pad Thai is next level and it's been a regular for our family for a li g time. Ok so then my daughter told me about the Pad Thai at Weladee, a trailer at a cute little food park on Hamilton Ln off North 183 and now I'm 100% HOOOOOOOKED! They've ruined me and I don't see how I can ever go back to the others!!! The sweet young lady that runs the place knows her stuff and works her butt off provide the best quality authentic Pad Thai available. Really good Thai cuisine in a relaxed food truck park off Jollyville Road near the Arboretum. The owner, Pina, is a one-woman operation; I called my order in and it was ready when I picked it up 20 minutes later. There were only three mains available on the menu when I stopped by, but they're done authentically and portions are more than ample. I've watched this place kinda blow up over the last year or so. Get your orders in early because it's no longer a secret Thai spot on an obscure street. Food On point, so much flavor in the Pad Thai. From the fresh cilantro to the sauce to the cook on the chicken! Went with the mild to be on the safe side and I definitely could've went medium. Service Everything is cooked to order, but I read other reviews that said to call and order and that is a good choice. Food was ready in 20mins exactly. I'd like to start by mentioning that the cashier was very friendly. Great customer service. Unfortunately, I was pretty disappointed with my food especially in light of the high ratings. I had the pad see ew with chicken. My food was super bland and lacked flavor. Also, the noodles were super dry and were not saucy at all unlike most pad see ew dishes I've tried from other red. I didn't enjoy the entree at all. The best item I had was the mango sticky rice. The mango sticky rice was incredibly delicious. The mango was very fresh and the dessert had the perfect sweetness level. Overall, I don't think I'd visit again anytime soon to buy another entree but I'd buy the mango sticky rice again. read more

Not sure if the reviews are real or paid but this is nothing like authentic Thai food. I read a review where a guy tried 200+ Thai restaurant across America. lol! Come no need to lie. The food and picture is definitely cater to Americans. No such thing as carrots in a papaya salad or more less a pad Thai. I honestly didn't know this food truck park existed, so thank you Yelp for not only steering me to Weladee but also introducing me to the Hamilton Food Park. For those visiting for the first time, it is easy to pass the street to turn on so be on the lookout for the sign that says "Thai Food and Mexican Food" and then turn! Weladee is the brightly colored teal food truck, so you can't miss it! As for the food selection, it isn't the largest so I decided to order one of everything, and sadly the thing I was craving most, the Mango Sticky Rice was not currently in season. However it looks like they have some rotating food choices, and during this visit we ordered the Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, Pad Ka Prow and the Som Tum Thai (Papaya Salad). As for proteins, chicken and tofu are included in the price of the noodle dishes, or you can add beef for an additional $2, fermented crab can also be added to the Papaya Salad for $2. The thing I liked most about this place is how everything came out fresh and pretty tasty. Out of the two noodles, I actually preferred the Pad Thai as the Pad See Ew's noodles were a bit bunched and not as flavorful. On the flip side, the Pad Ka Prow was packed full of flavor and topped with a delicious fried egg. I also liked the addition of the chicharron to the Papaya Salad which is something I haven't seen before, but I enjoyed the added textural crunch which went great with the sweet, acidic, and spicy profile. If you find yourself looking for some Thai food around the Research area don't be shy to try Weladee! The whole food truck park is super cute, and the owner is nice and helpful, she actually helped me pick out which protein and spice levels to choose for each dish! Oh, and speaking of spice, we opted for mostly mild and medium, and I could definitely feel a bit of heat with the medium but it wasn't overbearing. During the Electrical Debacle of 2023 we needed dinner. No electricity so we had to find a restaurant open. We found a food truck serving authentic Thai street food near our home so we were excited. We knew we could order on a food delivery app but some places on the Internet implied more choices than the delivery app so we went to see for ourselves. On that day they had four entrees and a salad available, plus water, Thai tea, and coconut water. When we arrived there were a few people waiting but mostly we were alone. We placed our orders and Pina let us know it would be a wait. She alone was taking the orders, doing the cooking and prep, and boxing the entrees. We sat in our car to wait and ten or so people came up and got their (presumably ordered ahead) meals. We took this popularity as a good sign. During the 45 minutes or so we waited there were the most mouth watering smells coming from the truck. I was hungry already but the scents let me know I was in for an experience. She signaled our food was ready and we picked it up. She kept apologizing for how long it took, recommending we order ahead on the app (which I recommend for future trips, but going to the truck, the first time lets me feel more like I know what I'm getting). She smiled and engaged us in some friendly banter, asked our names (winning over my introverted heart) and said she hoped to see us again. She also told me she didn't make mine spicy, but had taped a packet of red pepper seeds to add spice if I needed it. When we got home and passed out the food we could hear munching in the dark (no power, remember) and happy food sighs. The food was spicy enough to make us all sweat a bit but also had a distinctive sweetness to it. (Please note - I did not add the extra pepper seeds) My Pad See Ew with tofu had noodles that were chewy and delicious. Everyone agreed this was excellent Thai food and we all enjoyed it. We will definitely be back to support this small business, but also... you should have tasted this stuff!! In fact, go do that. Right now! This little food truck has the BEST Thai food in austin. The menu is small and the hours are limited but please don't let that deter you. Everything on the menu is excellent. I've tried the Pad See Ew, Tom Kha, Papaya Salad, and Pad Thai. Definitely call to order instead of DoorDash pick up because I find the portion sizes are better. Expect a 20 min wait or more for larger orders. She is generous with the portion size and you will have enough for two meals. Came here for the quick lunch. I was debating between the Pad Thai and the Pad See Ew but ended up going with the Chicken Pad See Ew on the owners recommendation. Delicious Thai food! I ordered the Pad See Ew with tofu (you can choose to be vegetarian, and not include the fish sauce, but I'm pescatarian and thus ok with the fish sauce). What distinguishes this Pad See Ew from others that I've had is that the fish sauce flavor is definitely prevalent. I like fish sauce so I did like it, but it's definitely a different flavor than the more heavier/umami pad see ew that's found at other places. I got the mild, which was the perfect light burn for me. If I had to extrapolate, a medium spiciness would prob have me reach for a glass of milk. There was definitely an abundance of tofu, maybe more than what I see elsewhere. Definitely the best Thai food in the Arboretum area for me so I'll prob be coming back! read more

I love Thai food, and after being in Austin for over a decade, all the usual standby Thai restaurants in town have just lost their luster after continual disappointments - their quality is never really consistent, and honestly Titayas has never been the same for me post-remodel. What makes Thai a magical cuisine is not only balance of powerful in-your-face flavors, but freshness. If it's not fresh, why bother? The only staple I continue to visit is Dee Dee, which is another fantastic 5 star Thai experience on the south side of town. She specializes in northern Thai food, and sometimes a girl just needs some pad see ew. Enter Weladee - generous portions, some key Thai menu appearances (pad Thai, pad see ew, and ka prao), and most importantly, SO FRESH! You can tell there's a lot of love, care, and experience in the dishes. I tried everything on the menu (hello lunch tomorrow) - and they were all great. I got mild just so I could really taste each dish, but next time I would feel comfortable going up to the medium level.
