The place was clean, customer service was great, the food was especially delicious. We ordered the Jalea, Parihuela, and chaufa rice and everything was flavorful and sumptuous. I would order each item again. But don't get me wrong if this is the quality of their food all the other dishes are most likely great too. This place is a hidden gem. Don't let the outside fool you. You step in and it's as if you're taken into a whole new world. Loved the whole aesthetic and the service was fantastic. The shopping center is a cute old world Spanish style. The restaurant is cozy with great food. Every dish we tried so far has had very flavorful sauces that I would call comfort food. They are served with rice and your choice of meat fish or veggies. The servers have alway been attentive and food comes out in a timely manor. Amazing ambience I love the fireplace and this is such a great place to have a delicious meal and a really great cocktail. My only suggestion is that you offer Peruvian coffee which is an absolute favorite of mine. I typically like to have a nice coffee with my dessert. I had the Parihuela, which I pictured here and it was really great and I'd also highly recommend if you like seafood. First time Peruvian food eater and blown away! This is a long and well deserved review. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Stavros, the owner of the restaurant. I was able to learn he is Peruvian. He mentioned having a restaurant and invited me to try it out sometime. I went in for lunch the next day!! I had to. Having met Stavros briefly, his energy was so relaxed with a flare of fun! If his restaurant was like his personality, I'm all in! I had asked Stavros for recommendations of what to eat. He told me he'd share some things and help me look over the menu and give suggestions.. well, unfortunately/fortunately for Stavros, he hired a great bartender/server. I had the pleasure of of being waited on by Sammy. Her disposition match that of Stavros, so well in fact that she had given me a few recommendations and went over the menu well enough, I ordered without hearing what Stavros would recommend. That's a sign of a great employee and an owner that treats the employees good. I went with the amazing Scampi dish. I love scampi so I had to see how this dish would taste. Unbelievable!! So much flavor and a great portion of food! Best scampi I've ever had. The chicken was one large thin slice that had been very lightly breaded. This sat on top of the pasta tossed in this delicious creamy scampi sauce! The flavors were so good. Never had a dish like it! I was brought some bread while I waited for my lunch. With it came this delicious green sauce(I wish I could remember what it's called). Soooo good! I didn't want to stop eating it, but had to summons some self control so I wouldn't fill up on bread. I am seriously obsessed with this place!! I took a few pictures of inside so you can see how beautiful the space is in this restaurant. I felt so relaxed in this space. I also heard great music that makes you move a little bit while listening. So, there it was. The same energy that I met Stavros with was what the restaurants vibe was, relaxing and fun! People, if you like great quality of food, a wonderful atmosphere, with good drinks, and great music.. please try this place out and support a wonderful local establishment! The owner was very rude when we brought this up to him. As other reviews have mentioned, the restaurant really is dirty. There are permanent black stains on the ground, likely from years of grime and neglecting to clean the restaurant. The food was also pretty bad It's no wonder the place was completely empty. Stavos, the owner, is incredibly friendly and went above and beyond by surprising our group with a secret ceviche shooter at the bar using our leftover ceviche sauce and spicy vodka. The best meal we've had in San Clemente! Not only was the food delicious, but the cocktails were on point, and the service was excellent. Jalea - super crispy, rich in flavor, and a finger-licking sauce. I'm normally not one for super fried foods, but this was done *chef's kiss* Ribeye Salteado - super tender quality meat, yummy veggies, and the you could taste the garlic and olive oil in the rice. The fries were crispy but juicy with the sauce Chicharron de pollo - again sauce was amazing, and the meat was clean and quality. Lotus cocktail - wow. Hands down the best cocktail I've had in quite a while. Muddled fresh blackberries kept it refreshing and the mix was sweet but not sickeningly sweet. Had a round two with gin suggested by the waiter and it was also delish - more aromatic and less sweet - different flavors but just as delicious. All in all 5/5 we will be coming back and tucking this San Clemente gem in our back pocket. read more
