Great drinks and food!! The service was very attentive although they seemed quite busy. The hand rolls were beyond expectations! Highly recommend! The atmosphere is good for cozy dates. The parking can be hard to find, so definitely recommend arriving 15min earlier.

Cute lil date night spot with cute decor! We chose the bar top and service was quick and very friendly. We were given lots of great recommendations by the owner. Drinks were very unique tasting and outstanding. The food they offer are these little miniature handrolls, they're fairly small at $7 a pop, but they tasted fresh so we were pleased about that. Nice experience overall.

Wife and I went on a spontaneous date night and were hoping to be seated for a walkin after seeing a couple parties have reservations, first open option was the pirate bar and we ended up walking out to just wait for upstairs and it was definitely worth it, wife and I spent under 100$. I'll be honest we didn't get full full but for the price it was a good experience, only down side is that the server knew we wanted the check and decided to helped everyone else but us. Wife and I had to catch a movie at the outlets, ( luckily the movie always starts 15-20 minutes after the stated time ) . Will come again

Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Food: 4/5 Drinks: 4/5 Price: 4/5 Parking: 4/5 The theming of the bar felt like you walked in a dive bar in Tokyo, Japan! The staff were so incredibly attentive and welcoming. The overall vibe was to have a good time. The food, although small, packed a great flavor punch. My only regret was not trying more of their extensive selection! Will definitely return during my next SoCal adventure!

Love this place! Drinks are amazing and Emily and Tu and Claire are just the best! I love the sushi here and the decor and the friendly vibe. Best to make reservations.

Amazing selection of Japanese whiskeys and delicious drinks, including a great selection of mocktails! Super kind and friendly bartenders and servers, and a cool and chill atmosphere. My husband and I will be back!

Probably the biggest maki I've ever ordered, sometimes when so large it isn't a good thing, as quality is an issue - not here! We had a sushi and cocktail craving midweek so decided here would be our place to fulfil that childfree fantasy! We basically ordered one of every maki, and doubled up on the unagi; it was that good! Probably wouldn't splurge on the wagyu again, though it was tasty, but not that ($$) tasty. The ebi was a little dry, also. Our server/bartender was super friendly and definitely knew his cocktails, if not the food menu so well. We didn't book ahead so were offered bar seating, and that was perfect for us.

Love this place, they have great hand rolls and yummy uni! The drinks are also strong and well worth the money!

Our group had a great time here for Happy Hour! Our server was excellent and the Sushi hand rolls were sooooo delicious! The drinks were too! The space was intimate, exotic and fun! I will be coming back here for Happy hour again!

Classy vibe, Crafty hand rolls, and Cocktails Momoku No Usagi is one of those rare finds that gets every detail right. Thu and the entire team were outstanding-attentive, professional, and genuinely welcoming. I came here after doing some research (and a few strong recommendations), and it lived up to the hype. The vibe is lowkey speakeasy with an elevated twist-calm, stylish, and effortlessly cool. There's a small private lot in front and street parking behind on Avenida de Estrella, just past Sonny's Pizza. The hostess checked us in, opened a barn-style door, and revealed a staircase lined with geisha art and colorful umbrellas-subtle but photo-worthy touches that set the mood. Upstairs, you can sit at the sushi bar or in a cozy booth. We chose a booth, and Thu's team kept everything smooth-refills, timing, and service all on point. We decided to go down the list of hand rolls, and every single one was fresh and made to order. As soon as we finished one, the staff checked in to see if we wanted to continue-the pacing was perfect. Each roll was so well balanced in flavor that no soy sauce was needed -clean, fresh, and beautifully composed. The cocktails were equally impressive-presented with care and perfectly balanced to complement the food. After dinner, we headed downstairs to Lost Inferno, another bar in the same building-he perfect way to wrap up the night. Parking: A few spots out front, with more street parking behind. Seats & Drinks: Cushioned bar seating and consistent quality across both drinks and food. Momoku No Usagi delivers quiet excellence-refined, consistent, and worth the drive. It's rare to find a place that nails ambiance, service, and presentation this well. I'll definitely be back.

Ask the Community - Momoku No Usagi

Can rolls be made gluten free?

Yes! There is no gluten in rice and seaweed as I'm sure you already know. We can dress the rolls without soy sauce for you with other great options!

Do they have any else besides hand rolls?

No they just serve the fish & rice on seaweed. The ocean trout and yellowtail were our favs

It looks nice the place but, do they have something cooked? cause I don't eat raw.

No, it's just raw sushi hand rolls but they do have two veggie ones you can eat.

Hi... is there a phone number for the business? Do you take rsvp?

There isn't a phone number to call to make a reservation. You do it online here: www.momokunousagi.com

The overall vibe though tailored an older crowd and not so much people in their 20's. There were a lot of drink options but not a lot of of that sweet and fun that I prefer. It's more sophisticated cocktails. Some staff reminded me to not have my phone out when I was clearly taking a picture of the receipt for my friend and I and that was upsetting. They are a week apart so we combined them. Very sneaky spot because it is not visible like a regular restaurant, but that just adds to the ambiance. Had reservations at 8 PM and our seats were on the second floor where we had a view of the wonderful sunset. We were seated in a both that fits 6, but it was better because the food was spaced out nicely on the table for easy access. My wife tried the Lady Luck cocktail which has vodka and others very a very tasty drink. We ordered the party house dinner rolls that that were ok. We also got the Lobster Crab Mac n Cheese. OMG this was so good. The melt cheese, the chunks of crab and chunks lobster made this an exquisite item to eat. We could not stop talking about how good it was. It also had cheese crated over the top as well. Lastly we got the Executive platter which is a collection of steak that the chef chooses. Our platter had filet mignon, 40 day dry aged New York Strip, and a 35 day dry aged Ribeye. All three were fantastic. We could not stop gushing over the ribeye and how well it was prepared and tasted. The steaks were all seasoned to perfection and did not require anything added to them . They also serve them with 3 sauces, but they are not needed at all. They also brought us small dessert for our birthday which was scoops of ice cream, but we were so full that we could not eat all of them. This place is worth the price and the staff and management were great. Special thanks to Daren. But special thanks to the tall slender gentleman who helped us. I ended up getting the Caesar salad, which comes with lemon, fried anchovy, and a ton of pecorino, and they were not kidding about the pecorino. It was literally like a blanket over the whole thing. But this Caesar was probably one of the best I've ever had. It was so good I literally didn't share it with anybody, I was like nope, I'm eating this whole thing by myself. The flavor, the pepper, the anchovies, the lemon, everything was so perfectly balanced. Even the waitress was super sweet and told me if I needed a salad, as basic as it sounds, the Caesar is the go to. She was absolutely right, phenomenal salad. We also got the beef marrow tartare dip thing that came with potato chips. It was good, nothing too crazy to say about it honestly. The Parker House rolls though, those we got as a side and they came out buttery, juicy, and just really good. The truffle came right through, these were phenomenal and absolutely a must have to go along with that Caesar. Then there's the bacon, which sounds crazy, it's literally just called bacon and it's this fat thick four inch slab, one single piece, and it was so so so good. I was absolutely shocked by it. For my main I went with the forty day dry aged bone in New York strip. It was pretty dang good, wouldn't say I was completely blown away, but I have a hard time with steak places in general because I always compare them to how I make a steak at home, and I still think I can make a better one myself. That said, this was very good, great crunch and crisp on the edge, those nice burnt increased edges, seasoned perfectly, and a spot on medium rare, so no complaints there. For sixty bucks though I just have a hard time paying for it, even if it was very good. The one that stole the whole night, hands down and by far, was the dessert. I don't remember what it was called but it was like this pancake ice cream, buttery, gooey, delicious, light and airy heaven. I literally apologized at the table and said I'm going to eat this entire thing, and I did just that. It was awesome. The ambiance and decoration of this place is straight up fine dining, you can feel and see it, and they even have actual dry aged beef ribs on display which is really cool. Not bad at all. I'd recommend it as a high end spot, just not somewhere I'd go consistently since I can do better at home. But that dessert dish, whatever the heck it was, I would go back for that alone. Best dish of the night for sure.

Luna, Lindsay and Cesar have all been exceptional servers; their knowledge of the menu and their genuine kindness makes our visits that much more memorable. I don't often catch the name of the bussers, but they are extremely good at what they do. There's a few restaurants in town that hire staff and don't seem to train them well, so they struggle and it's apparent... but that's not the case here at Asada, where everyone is professional and really go above and beyond. It's easy to see how well their service flows (although the host stand could benefit from having people who are more outgoing; they seem to have timid people up there a lot, and it can be awkward when they're too timid to properly greet guests--just something I've noticed, having worked in restaurants before I tend to be hyper-aware of such things). My favorite section to get seated is the booths near the back which tend to be quieter, and also offer a nice view of the sky during the sunset and evening hours especially.
