Inka Wasi is a hidden gem in DTLA. I always passed by but finally gave it a shot and now eat there multiple times a week. My go to is their Pollo à la Brasa which if you're not familiar is Peruvian rotisserie. It blows Zankou chicken out the waters. It's also the best deal of lunch/dinner in terms of price, quality, and amount of food. The staff are friendly and attentive, great vibes all-around. It is a casual restaurant in the heart of DTLA. I usually get take out since parking can be difficult. My go to is the lomo saltado. Was in the mood for Peruvian food and lucked out finding this spot right by my apartment. I went with their pan con lomo, which is basically a sandwich version of lomo saltado(which is honestly genius). Juicy marinated steak, sautéed onions and tomatoes, plus light crispy fries all packed into a toasted roll is exactly the kind of comfort food I was craving. I was walking determinedly. Ignoring all the DTLA was offering. I was on a mission: find and try authentic and tasty ceviche. I marked my spot with a big X - Inka Wasi. And boy was I surprised! The mixto ceviche was delicate with thin slices of squid, shrimp and fish all swimming in a citrusy Leche de Tigre which is a spicy and acidic Peruvian marinade made primarily from lime juice, fish juices, onions, and chili peppers. The aji Amarillo topping it all added to the wonderful tang of the dish. I'd that wasn't enough, the choclo, the Peruvian corn was hot, and chewy. The perfect hot and the perfect chewy. Just enough to offset the coolness (both in temperature and texture) of the ceviche. I may be strange that way but I really don't tolerate monotextural and monotasting dishes. The "stuff it all together in one pot and cook it till nothing can be distinguished from anything else" is just not to my liking. This is why the ceviche was so successful in my mind: it combined temperatures, texture and mouth feels. Each unique. Each contributing to the overall bite sensation. A simple dish, elevated. Then came the platanos. So many times I have to stress "maduro!" Soft. Ripe. Well done. Not here. The platanos came out perfectly. Just right. With tiny bits caramels on the outside and perfectly soft on the inside. A great companion to the ceviche dish, adding depth and flavor. Ambiance is basic, with red and white uncomfortable metal chairs a-lá IKEA style, and basic tables. Not much to enjoy but I'm here for the food not the good ol' red, white and more white! I love Peruvian food however unfortunately Inka Wasi fell short of my expectations. Aji is one of my favorite hot sauces but theirs was runny and not spicy in the least-really disappointing. I ordered the classic lomo saltado because that's always a safe thing to get but it was so mid and the cumin flavor was really overpowering. I did appreciate that they included a little side of chicken soup. We got the roast chicken and rice as well as a soup, aguadito. The chicken was excellent but the star was the rice! It was super garlicky and delicious, cooked to perfection. I couldn't get enough! I got sick and didn't have any soup at home, so I ordered the Aguadito soup. It was extremely delicious, and helped me to get well! The price was very reasonable. I got 2 soups for $15 with tax (although it's probably cheaper away from Uber Eats). The soup was very colorful and flavorful, but my only complaint is that there could have been more chicken. It felt like both bowls only had one piece of chicken each. But outside of that, it was pretty solid! I can't speak to the service and ambiance since I didn't dine in, but everything was securely packaged and still warm when it made its way home. I look forward to trying more items from this place! I only heard of it because I searched "soups" on Uber Eats. That's not even their main dish, so I'm excited to see what else they have to offer! read more

Good and decent Peruvian spot in DTLA. Going in, the staff took care of me and were pretty friendly. I took my number and chose a seat and they would bring my food to me. I got the Lomo saltado and it was pretty good and flavorful. The steak wasn't tough which I appreciated. I wasn't the biggest fan of the large amount of onions in the dish. I was surprised that the fluffy rice was seasoned and garlicky which I liked. The potatoes soaked up the flavor, but I wish they were crispier. Maybe double frying them would make them better. I smothered everything in the green sauce which elevated the dish and provided a nice kick to everything. I also liked the complementary chicken rice soup that I got which was flavorful and had rice and veggies in it. Everything was solid other than the price. The Lomo saltado was a decent portion, but $18 for the size was too much. The can of inka cola that I got was also overpriced, at $4.50 a can. This Inka Wasi DTLA location does not disappoint! I've been a patron of the Palos Verdes location for the last 10 years. I have to say the taste is the same if not better. I ordered the Lomo Saltado which has an equal ratio of fries, onions, steak, and tomato. The steak pieces also had a nice sear and was well seasoned. There's only one dish that has a little sugar - the pollo picante. We came here after a workout and I hadn't had Peruvian food for a while so we decided to try this instead of going to Chipotle. The appetizer soup was good, it tasted like rice congee! The fried rice with minced beef tastes exactly like what my grandmother used to make. Yellow sauce plate looks great and resembles a Thai curry dish. It's definitely worth a try. I've passed by Inka Wasi several times while walking in DTLA. There was no line during lunch time. We dined in and ordered the 1/4th pollo combo with garlic rice and salad and the camaron al ajo. I didn't get to taste the chicken was told it was a bit dry. It smelled great though, and I loved the camaron al ajo! It was super garlicky and well seasoned small shrimps. Service was quick and they were patient with us while we lingered at the register trying to decide. Ambience is casual, there were other parties dining in between 12 - 1 PM. Not bad, not the best Peruvian I've had. Lomo Saltado had nice flavor but was a tad light on the sauce (which I like to mix with the rice). Rice had good fglavor as well. Balance in the Lomo Saltado was a little out of proportion as well, meaning, not too many fries in the mix. Wouldn't liked the tomato's chopped up a bit instead of whole slices. The Aji sauce (which I essentially spread over everything) had a slightly chunky texture and was also slightly bland. The cilantro chicken soup was really nice. Might be back, might not. read more

I am loving learning about Preuvian food. Inka makes each dish fresh, and boy are the ingredients frsh. The chaufa de pollo has succulent chicken within delicious stir-fried rice. The lomo saltado is perfectly seasoned with salt mixed with some mystery seasonings that rock. The french fries with which the saltado is cooked are crisp but absorb just enough au jus from the beef. With each plate, you get a cup of soup too. It's a touch pricey, but it's a hearty meal that is worth what you pay. read more

This location is very close to my work and I've been meaning to try it for a while. I'm glad I did! It's a casual restaurant, you order at the register and they bring it to you at your table once the food is ready. We had a soup starter that was very very good. I can't remember what was in it, but it was green, and I'm glad we tried it! 8/10 I had the pescado ceviche, which was perfect for lunch. It was a much bigger portion than I was expecting for lunch, but it wasn't overwhelmingly large. I wish the ceviche itself had more leche de Tigre, but it was great with the green sauce they provided as well. 7.5/10 I will definitely be coming back! I wish I could give Inca Wasi at least 4 stars as I rejoice as a Peruvian about Peruvian food. Unfortunately I was a bit disappointed. For starters their menus don't have prices, they just tell you that the dishes are between $10-$25. I know that inflation is high and prices lately scare people but we have the right to know prices before making a selection. Second, the dishes I got aguadito, anticuchos and chaufa we just ok. Nothing to brag about, so I assume that the other dishes might just ok. I have a feeling that their rotisserie chicken is good as that is a dish easier to replicate. I love Peruvian food and have ordered from this eatablishment before. I ordered a Marisco Saltado, based on the photograph shown on Grub Hub, where it appears that the seafood ratio looked good. When the order finally arrived I the realized while eating my meal that there were only 2 pieces of fish, a handful of calamari and a whole lot of onions and fries. The ratio of fish to fries and onion was not balanced like the Grub Hub image. My last 5 bites or so, were mostly red onion and some fries, all the rice and seafood was already eaten many bites before this (if that makes any sense). I think that for the price that I paid, the ratio of seafood should be more sunstantial. It definitey was not worrh what I paid, although it fid taste good, but I shouldn't have my meal sadly end with big chunks of onions. I swear they used at least half an onion to make the food look more full, and to disguise the lack of seafood. read more

Ok, so I was feeling adventurous, and while walking in DTLA, I came across this Peruvian place. I ordered Chuafa Marisco (seafood fried rice) and an order of fried plantains (plantano). Before I go any further, I want to address that my receipt says service charge, but that is the 15% tip given. I got the food to go and ate it back at my hotel. the fried rice was loaded with seafood - shrimp, calamari, octopus, and some sort of really good white fish. It was pretty good. I did add some of the included green sauce that had a bit of heat to it. It was a decent size plate of food, and I had a ton of leftovers. They also included a small container of chicken soup that had rice, potatoes, and greenbeans. The soup was ok. It could have used a bit more flavor with some peppers. The plantains were a little too well done with a strong charred flavor - that was a bummer. Inside is pretty small may 15 tables. They have self-service and drink options along with bottled drinks. Customer service could of been a bit better. I was hoping maybe the guy might ask if I had any questions or if I had been in there before. He really didn't say anything to me other than to repeat my order back. There were maybe ten people there around 2 pm. on a Tuesday. Overall, it was a pretty decent meal.
