Let me start with saying WOW!! The Lomo Saltado was seasoned to perfection! I went during the lunch hour rush and the food turnaround was still faster than other less busy restaurants. What really stood out was the balance between quality and value. Portions are generous, and you can tell they don't cut corners on ingredients. Love this place! Food tastes like you are eating in your mom's kitchen! Everything is cooked to perfection along with an amazing presentation in every dish! We came here to eat and I asked the manager if he can put the Laker game on and he went out of his way to install Amazon prime and made it happen! As a regular customer, this experience was really upsetting. I ordered takeout and later noticed the app automatically added a 20% tip unless you manually changed it. When I asked about it, the owner Nelson !was unfriendly and denied the app does that. They also charged extra for sauce and didn't want to provide salsa. If you order through the app, make sure to double-check the tip amount before paying. I believe tips should reflect good customer service, and unfortunately that's not the experience I received. read more

First time to Caveman Kitchen. Will not be my last. Second, it's close to work. First, because I enjoyed it. A lot. I didn't enjoy the parking. I showed up after work and ended up parking down the block. I thought I might have to do a few laps around the neighborhood but lucked out and caught someone taking off from a spot my car fits. If you know me, I don't have Zoey anymore. My new ride, Caleb doesn't fit everywhere. There are spots in the plaza where the restaurant is, but when I pulled in, nothing was available. Walk in, order and find a seat. I got there early so I had to order a few times as I didn't know when my party would arrive. Not a big deal but just know it's not like you get a bill for the table and just add to it. Get up and order, get your number and everything will be brought out to you. Though not quite full service, the staff is friendly AF. If you need anything, just ask. Also really helpful and I appreciate that when I did order, one of the counter staff told me to order the dessert and let her know when I was ready to avoid having to place another order. I really enjoyed the food. The Mariscos Saltado hit the spot. Along with the Plantains for appetizers and for dessert. See pics. I even had their "Caveman" beer. Sorta like Pacifico but a full bodied and went well to kick off the three days weekend (went last Friday). Dining are can get a little loud with the music then adding the people. Okay since I work nearby but I prefer Mario's. Service is a tad bit slow but staff is friendly. I think their Lomo is too thick and not soft but that's just my preference read more

I would really give this 3.5 stars. I ordered the popular Lomo Saltado and it was just okay. I felt like the meat needed more flavor. It came with rice but no beans. The sauce was really good, just needed the meat to taste like the sauce and it would have been much better. Also I felt there was way more fries in it than actual meat. But not bad. I just wouldn't get it again. Shopping center parking. read more

The food here is good. I really their lomo saltado with beef. You order at the counter, take a seat if you're dining in and wait for your order to be taken to your table. We usually go on the weekend so there's always a type of sport on the tvs. The parking can be a bit of a pain since they share the lot with other establishments. read more

The restaurant is very lively and welcoming! We ordered as soon as we got there because we wanted to try the Lomo saltado and it came out almost right away even though it was a Saturday night. Okay so don't get the chicken saltado. I tried it again and they definitely use old chicken. I didn't even realize I had tried this place before years ago. But with that being said their rotisserie chicken SLAPS. Their fries are seasoned if you get it with the side of chicken but if you get it with a burger they only season the top so bring your own salt because most of the fries are unseasoned Give this place a try just don't get the chicken saltado. Been coming to caveman kitchen on and off for years. The food never misses, whether it's one of the sandwiches or saltado dishes. The service is nothing special, just a walk up and order kiosk, but the staff does a good job of checking in periodically on everything. They're always playing some sort of sporting event on the TVs. Parking can be a little hectic at times due to other restaurants in the plaza, but thankfully they have an attendant that relieves some of the pressure. read more

Just got my food from Caveman restaurant in LA I keep coming back for their delicious good. What I love the most are their lomo saltado and tallarín chicken, it's the best lomo saltado and tallarín chicken I everything had. I ordered it for pick-up this time and it was still piping hot when I got home (only a 5-minute drive, but still!). The flavors were on POINT so delicious; the meat was so tender with a rich taste and combined of herbs mixed with French fries and sauté onions. I literally ate the whole thing . Kudos to Caveman for the best food and solid service! Definitely customer for life. I will be back. Thanks!! read more

Let me start with what we got! My Girl & I got the Lomo Saltado during the lunch hour rush, and surprisingly they got our food out quick. I personally really liked the lomo saltado, I didn't leave anything on my plate. I thought the seasoning on the meat, sauce, veggies was really good! No complaints there! Portion was just the right amount! & for the price!? No complaints there. My only thing would be the fries weren't soaked in the sauce long enough, and the flavor wasn't there. As for my girl she personally didn't like it. She said compared to other Peruvian places she been too. This place would land at the bottom of her list. Lacking flavor and agreeing on the fries flavor too. Will we be coming back!? Who knows!! We will see read more

I did search up in yelp and found this amazing place not too far from home and decided we give it a try and oh my God I am so glad we did. Food: The one menu that I get here is Lomo Saltado with Horchata. Lomo Saltado (4.5/5): My friend introduced me to this place saying that this is the dish you have to try if it's your first time. I got it and it was a taste that I've never had before. I can't have cilantro so I got mine without it, but the taste of all the ingredients in this dish were amazing and flavorful. It's a dish that comes back to your mind once in a while. Horchata (4/5): Usually all the horchatas in LA are just too sweet, but this restaurant's horchata - still slightly still on the sweeter side - balances well with the savoriness of the main dish. I placed my order and paid, and only after that did the cashier inform me that my food would take about 20 minutes. I feel like that's something that should have been mentioned before taking my payment. I said it was fine -- but realistically, what else could I say at that point? My daughter's food came out within 10 minutes, but our food actually took about 30 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile, I noticed other customers who came in after us were getting their orders before we did. Overall, the experience was frustrating and disappointing. I really hope they work on better communication and timing because it left a negative impression, and I'm not sure I'd return. read more

Highly recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Their famous lomo saltado was flavoring but if I am being honest the protein to potato fries ratio was off. Add some protein and ease up on the tomato, onion and fries please!!! I also try their burger which was juicy and delicious. Service was good, music was good, food was good. Only thing that sucks is their parking lot!!! Highly recommend. read more

Caveman's Kitchen has definitely proven itself as a top tier Peruvian restaurant in LA. Each time I I visit the food has been top notch consistently. The service is always fast and efficient. They make this in house verde sauce that adds a delicious spice to any meal. The ambiance in the restaurant is very vibrant there are a lot of colors and writing on the walls. Of the past few years of residing in the University of Southern California region, Caveman has often been one of the places that kids like for the quick Peruvian food. Anyone can cook, and you can most likely make this at home. With that said, this place has significantly dropped off in the past few years, remaining the same old design with mediocre food. I would caution everyone who wants to come here to look at Yelp or or other review sources to see where they can get better food or even a better dining experience else where, because the list can go on and on. Hands down one of the best spots for a Lomo Saltado! The food here tastes amazing! Full of flavor. Loud music and they show the games at this restaurant. The food is done fairly quickly at a reasonable time. The only downside is the small parking lot situation, prepare to fight for parking here, or just park on the street. read more

Yummy Peruvian food. I've been here several times and only ever get the Lomo Saltado, but I have yet to be disappointed. You order up front, and then they provide you a table where the food then comes out quite quickly. They have this creamy salsa verde that adds a nice kick to the food as well. We ordered 1 fat cheese without onions and tomato combo 1 triple cheese burger combo with large chili cheese fries added pastrami 1 peach cobbler The order came to $52. And some change There menu is American, specializing in burgers, but also serving tacos, hot dogs, chili cheese fries, and burritos. Menu highlight is the "Farmer Otis Burrito" (a 2-foot-long burrito) and options with pastrami and hot links. There menu options are huge just keep that in mind when ordering. We waited for our order for about 40 minutes. Remind yourself fresh and good things take time. My burger was so fresh packed with flavors the meat crispy the mayo and mustard on my buns made me wanting more. The pickles were delicious. Now for that triple burger make sure you bring your hunger that's no burger to play around with. 3 large patties just might send you into burger coma. Those large chili pastrami fries are a meal within themselves. We barley put a dent into them and gave up we were full. Now for dessert that Peach Cobbler was deliciously homemade. Only thing missing was some whipped cream. The cinnamon and nutmeg in each bite was mouth watering.

Caveman Kitchen was once a wonderful family spot with excellent customer service and high-quality food. Unfortunately, over the years, both the service and food quality have declined significantly. I've given it several chances, both dining in and ordering takeout with family, but on multiple occasions, we've received undercooked food. When this was brought to the staff's attention, the response often came across as dismissive or annoyed. Another major concern is the persistent sewage odor inside and outside of the restaurant, which has only worsened over time. This creates an unpleasant and possibly unhealthy dining environment. Equally troubling are the unprofessional behaviors I've observed from ownership, including inappropriate conversations about politics and workplace relationships such as dating staff members that don't reflect a professional or welcoming environment. These issues, combined with the decline in food quality and sanitation concerns, ultimately led me to stop visiting. It's truly disappointing to see a once-great restaurant fall into such decline. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements, both in food safety and in the overall dining experience. read more

I recently dined at Caveman Kitchen in Los Angeles, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The service was top-notch friendly, attentive, and efficient without being overbearing. First off, my reviews are always based on my impression of customer service. You could serve me the most vile foods imaginable, and while I'll hate it, I won't necessarily go online to rant about it. However, these guys really messed up the ONE time I chose to eat here. I went with my sister on a weekday, but not during the lunch rush. When we got there, there was one gentlemen in front of us, but he was picking up a lunch order. We therefore placed our orders pretty quickly: she got the Hawaiian burger combo, and I got a basic burger w/ fries. The part that irks me is that it took 40 minutes for our food to be served. Not only did we get up twice to check on our order, but after all of that the guy cashiering had the gall to say "It's worth the wait" as he finally plopped our food in front of us. I was going to give it one star but gave it a 2nd for their friendly service. I was expecting juicy chicken with flavorful skin and a hearty couple of side items. I instead got plain old white rice and plain old black beans...and the chicken, well lets just say I truly enjoyed the rice & beans because I was famished. My daughter had a bland chicken quesadilla that even had green peppers in it. I'm wondering if they use ANY salt...ever? My boyfriend's burger was just meh, but probably the better one of the three choices...at $7, however, I'll have a Lucy's burger instead. The place lacked cleanliness and I stepped on something slimy under my table before I began my meal...refusing to look, I quickly pushed through my rice & beans. the food is soooo good here. i love Peruvian food and this place is one of my favorites. Been using a lot of delivery apps lately (rushorder is my go to right now and i googled a promo code HUNGRY3 which should still be valid) to get my lomo saltado and rotisserie chicken. the past 6-7x those 2 things were the only dishes I'd order. but i actually tried the Chorizo Delissh burger for lunch 2 days ago and it was a solid solid burger, highly recommend. This place is my go-to for lunch (delivery and takeout cus I dont get a long lunch). highly highly recommend! read more

Honestly as a guy who indulges in good food very often ( I'm fat ) this location lacks a basis of flavor , usually the items are very greasy or salty and it's like too much sometimes . I typically get the pollo Saltado and the rice is always drenched in grease to the point it's unbearable but they're other items are pretty decent like their burgers and fries , overall I would came back if too lazy to go to Mario's . read more

First time eating peruvian food. Not sure how to compare to other peruvian restaurants, but the burgers were tasty. I suspect its not really authentic peruvian food, but it does taste really good. Went there late after partying and tried the hawaiian burger .. amazing! It could be that we were a bit drunk and starving, but nevertheless it tasted great.
