I dropped off the truck yesterday for a complimentary detail, and would have had it back same day but opted to have them take care of a recall at the same time when my service advisor Raymond pointed out there was one pending. He did say they would probably need to keep it over night, so no sweat. Free Lyft was provided home and back too. Well I just picked it up and it looks amazing! I'm honestly stoked to just look at it again and that is a great feeling. I have to say, in reference to my previous review, mistakes happen. We all make them. What really defines a person, and a business, is how one responds to those mistakes and what steps are taken to rectify them. As far as I'm concerned these guys handled this situation with grace and professionalism. They weren't the ones directly responsible for the previous fiasco, but they stepped up and made it right no questions asked. As far as I'm concerned we are square. But talking to our salesperson, H, put me at ease. He was reassuring, made me feel like I was in good hands, and by the time we finished I was genuinely excited. I even asked for business cards because I wanted to come back and leave the most glowing review I could. That excitement didn't last. During the sale, H told us we could not install an alarm system later, could not add the KARR system after the fact, and could not use a Honda manufacturer alternative down the line. Believing him, we agreed to buy their $1,095 KARR Security System on the spot. None of that turned out to be true. Two days later, 07/28/2026, when I tried to cancel other add-ons, Financial Services rep Saul Murillo told me I couldn't get GAP coverage anywhere else -- also false, since GAP is widely available through banks and other lenders. He also told me I'd have to physically drive back to the dealership just to sign a VSA cancellation form. I brought the misrepresentation up with GM M. Stein, who agreed to process the VSA cancellation but denied the KARR claims were misrepresented and says that charge is non-refundable. What should have been an exciting milestone turned into feeling misled and taken advantage of during what was supposed to be a special moment for me. If you're buying here, record what's said in the finance office, get everything in writing, and independently verify any "you can't do this elsewhere" claims before you sign -- because in my experience, they weren't true.

Between the décor, seating, and overall atmosphere, I honestly couldn't decide if I was sitting at the DMV, a gas station, or in an old hospital waiting room. There was nothing comfortable, polished, or remotely premium about the experience. It was actually pretty pitiful. I understand that a dealership service department doesn't need to feel like a luxury hotel, but there should still be some level of pride in the facility and an effort to make customers feel welcomed and comfortable, especially when people may be sitting there for an extended period of time. As someone who is brand new to Chevy, this was definitely not the first impression I was hoping for. I'm already starting to wonder if this is simply what I should expect from most Chevy dealerships, but I'll be trying another location for my future service needs before making that judgment. Coming from years of owning a Mercedes-Benz Fletcher Jones and having my vehicle serviced in Newport Beach, the difference in the overall experience is worlds apart. My original experience at Penske Toyota of Downey was extremely frustrating, and I stand by what I wrote about what happened during the transaction. We lost an entire day, the agreed price changed after credit was run, paperwork we had signed off on disappeared from the room, and we ultimately walked away because we no longer trusted the process. That said, what happened afterward deserves real recognition. Eddie, the General Manager, personally reached out to me after seeing my review. He did not make excuses, minimize what happened, or try to sell me another vehicle. He wanted to understand exactly what occurred and listened to the entire sequence of events. More importantly, he took responsibility for the customer experience and made a genuine effort to make things right. He followed through on what he said he would do and provided a written apology from the dealership. That matters. Anyone can run a business when everything goes perfectly. What tells you much more about a company is what leadership does when something goes seriously wrong. Eddie demonstrated that Penske Toyota of Downey has management that cares about its reputation, cares about the customer experience, and is willing to step in when the dealership falls short. My original experience was unacceptable, but Eddie's response changed my opinion of the dealership considerably. It showed me that what happened was not something senior management was willing to ignore or defend. I especially appreciate that he reached out personally, listened, investigated, apologized, and took meaningful steps to resolve the situation. That is how you handle a serious customer complaint. Companies are made up of people, and sometimes people screw things up. What matters is whether leadership cares enough to fix it. In this case, they did.
