We didn't sit at the far end and when the hostess came she made the request again and we pointed out the fact that that end of the table was wet. She moved us to the screened in porch. This wasn't a problem except for it was lightly raining before we arrived and it got heavier and there didn't seem to be a real plan in place. She did state that since they had guests staying the home they don't host tastings inside. Well not sure if the rule changed because 3/4 of the way through our tasting the next tasting arrived and they were set to have their tasting in the house. This was only one disappointing aspect of the visit. The hostess was not dressed professionally and we were served what seemed like boxed breadsticks that were extremely hard and tasteless. The wines were okay but definitely priced higher than in the store. We visited because the other couple in our party buys Amici at home and they thought it would be great to schedule a tasting. The experience was overall disappointing.

Romeo holds a special place in our hearts because we visited them a little over seven years ago. During that experience (which you can read about in my previous review - if interested), my wife and I had a grand experience with former Business Manager Emma, who administered the delicious tastings. Fast forward to the present, we looked forward to enjoying a glass of their finest red before finding lunch. Upon entering the walkway, we were enthusiastically greeted by an employee named John who quickly ushered us to a vacant table for two. My wife had a slight reaction to the beautiful flowers that were in full bloom. Out of the kindness of his heart, John provided my wife with a bottle of Pure Leaf tea that calmed her allergies. We told John that we were interested in enjoying a glass of red, in which he quickly ran off and returned with a bottle of 2009 Eugenia Cabernet Sauvignon. Upon doing the swirl and sniff test (sounds dirty doesn't it?), I knew that we were in for a treat. Since we were both in dire need of a meal, we sadly could not continue the party. However, we will make a return visit in the near future to enjoy a full tasting experience!

We had a tasting set up but a little miscommunication with booking worked out when we arrived. It was early for our tasting so it wasn't too busy when we arrived. There was already a group there when we arrived. The property itself is beautiful. Basically everything in wine country is amazing. Checked in at the counter where we were started off with a nice cold glass of white. A little starter before heading to our table. You could stay and do a tasting at the counter but with it being so nice out and tables were set up along the lavender farm, it was a given. Their tasting menu consisted more reds which we were perfect with. 2 of the cuvée and 2 of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Everything was quite tasty and went down very well. The gal that took care of us was quite sweet and extremely friendly. Explaining everything to the tee. Making sure that everything was detailed before we started. Of course being sister members, we were able to have a tasting for four that was included. The last time we were here, they graciously showed a little tour of the wine cave. It was quite cute in a hobbit sort of way. The cellar and private tasting rooms set up inside were very nice. The property is beautiful. Outside tasting room was quite pleasant with the nice covered tables and the lavender farm. Of course the vineyards in the background, beautiful. Until next time.

We…read morestarted in one tasting area and then moved to another, and although there wasn't quite enough staff available to accommodate sitting outside, we ended up in the cozy indoor tasting room which actually turned out to be a nice, intimate setting. The Malbec was absolutely to die for rich, bold, and easily one of the standout wines of the visit (and yes, it's priced over $100 a bottle, which says a lot about its quality). We were definitely impressed. I also purchased a Sauvignon Blanc for $37, which was crisp, refreshing, and perfect for a hot summer night. I'm really looking forward to enjoying it later. What stood out most was the elegance of the winery and its beautiful grounds. Even with the slight staffing limitation, the atmosphere and wine quality made it a memorable visit with the Napa Wine Trip Girls.

She had nothing but positive things to say about the winery, owners, winemaker and working there--all pluses in my book as I love supporting family-run businesses who care about their employees. The drive up the mountain to get to Wild Diamonds in Lake County is nice and also provides for the great scenery while tasting in the "rooms with a view". With enough notice (48 hours) they can have charcuterie boards available for you. I thought I also heard them say you're welcome to bring your own--but don't quote me on that... verify! If you want to get away from the commercialized options in Napa and Sonoma, you won't go wrong at Wild Diamonds!

We were served a tasting of five wines, two whites and three reds. The server, Riley was friendly and hospitable. My favorites were their 2023 Pinot Noir that was smooth, and surprisingly their Malbec was a hit; I usually don't like Malbecs but this was smooth and spicy. These two wines stood out due to that flavor profile, spiciness, and the lack of tannins on my palette. It was a cozy vibe tasting in the cave, they also had cards games for us to enjoy.

The breakfast is amazing with local eggs and toast and much more served in their elegant southwestern style dining room and porches. I stayed in the Rustridge Room, with its semi-private entrance. I found it enchanting and spacious, with an unusual barn door...the top half opened right up to a small grassy knoll and ancient tree, extending a mighty bough, worthy of a Cheshire cat. There is a sense of timelessness here, a respect for time, for animals, and the land itself---many of the vines are mature, even 30-years old if I remember my private wine tasting correctly. Yes, that is the other element here: aromatic hand-crafted wines made in small batches by Susan and Jim. To sip fine vintages in their tasting room, with its windows overlooking sweeping vineyards, the grapes ripening before one's eyes, is an unparalleled experience. Not a winery to hit near the end of the day unless you have a dedicated designated driver. If you appreciate rustic style tasting rooms where you can actually speak with the wine makers about their wines then you will enjoy this place. Wine consists of cabs, zins and a chard. I left with a couple reds. Loves the eccentric wine maker; aside from his growing duties he is also a horse jockey. So yes, the tasting room is located in a ranch filled with horses. The horse jockey wine maker signed our bottles and posed for my picture like nobody's business.
