Very satisfied with our stay here. It was exactly what we needed - nothing more, nothing less. Easy parking, efficient staff, working internet, normal room. No frills, just a very simple room setup. We usually stay here when visiting because it's dog-friendly, has walking trails right behind the hotel, and includes breakfast. The hotel is a bit older, which shows in the rooms, and depending on where your room is located, you might hear some freeway noise. That said, the staff is always friendly, and the short drive to Donner Lake makes it a great option when traveling with your furry companion. Breakfast is simple--bagels, coffee, packaged waffles--basic but enough to start the day. The walls are very thin so you can hear everything!! Rooms were outdated and not very clean. You can see dirt and stains in the walls. Only nice thing about this hotel are the workers, they were very nice. And they give you complimentary breakfast and coffee. read more

From reading reviews, I was excited about staying here, and seeing Truckee! I pulled in the parking lot and saw the lovely grounds, and couldn't wait to see the facilities. Wow, what you first notice when you walk in is that this place reeks of pine cleaner. When you walk in, that is all you notice! The room did also, and so did the sheets and carpets! Why do places use this industrial toxic cleaner! When the staff was cleaning the lobby, they had to open the front doors so that they were not fumigated. When we first got in to the room, we opened the windows and ran the fan. It took hours to rid the place of the overwhelming cleaner odor! The room was a large room, with accessibility features. First glance, it looks clean and tidy. The lighting in the room was a fluorescent green color, and two of the 4 lamps were not plugged in (nor had enough light bulbs). The furniture was nice enough (although there were 2 tables and chairs, one metal one blocking the entrance where a wheelchair could not pass by). The bathroom door was so strangely placed! The bed was very firm and the pillows flat. The sheets were rough in feeling, smelled like industrial cleaner, and had a rip in them (pictured). The place is located near a freeway, and if you left the window open at night, you hear the freeway! There were no screens on the windows and they did not lock, so they put small metal fixtures on the bottom to prevent break-ins. The staff were ok, we met two different people (stayed 2 nights). The first woman was quiet and not forthcoming or friendly, the second one, a gentleman, was polite enough. Both could use some greeting skills, making eye contact, etc. My partner and I did not have breakfast but did get coffee/tea, which were underwhelming. It looked like the continental breakfast was really minimal. My partner stayed here a year ago, and said it was quaint and nice. It seems to have changed to become cheap and uncared for. If I could give it no stars I would. Horrible stay. Run down and loud. Old windows don't keep out noise from the highway or cold. Heater ran all night long and was noisy too. They charge over $200 for a room that should be under $50. No luggage rack, no closet. Have to check out a hairdryer from the front desk! No elevator to the second and third floors. Furniture looks like yard sale finds. Breakfast area is very small and not well stocked. At 7am on a Saturday morning, they were out of most breakfast foods. They couldn't even bother with removing snow from the parking lot, when the last snow was 2 or 3 days before. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. read more

It's all about expectations. In today's market when I pay $109 a night for a room I have a certain expectation compared to when I pay $249 a night. Inn At Truckee more than met my expectations. The grounds were clean. The location of the Inn is overlooked in many of the reviews. It's next to at least a few decent restaurants not to mention quite literally right off the freeway if you're driving down to Tahoe. With that said, you will hear the freeway, although with the window closed it was never a nuisance. The Interior is minimal but adequate given the rate paid. The room was clean, I didn't have any problems with the hot water or the free shampoo, conditioner dispensers. The bed was firm and the pillows a bit flat but neither were an issue for me. The room was adequate in size. I gave 4/5 because the Spa/Sauna was out of service due to covid according to the notice. I stayed on a Monday night and I was only one of I think 3 other guests in the entire hotel. I think people need to take that into account when considering how much food is being provided in the continental breakfast. Great value if you are looking for basic accommodations. read more

Second time here, and I feel like it gets two stars and that's being generous. First time we came the towel hook and shower handle was loose, there were cob webs in the corner, and after a couple pumps we ran out of conditioner. Now the second time around, the bathroom didn't have a lock, and this time there was no conditioner. I was lucky to even get any conditioner the first time, apparently. The roads were too bad to continue driving, so I took an easy exit in Truckee CA and found the Inn at Truckee. I was grateful they had one room open. It was mostly clean (except for the old towels left on the floor), the beds were comfortable and they had a not-bad continental breakfast. However, the coffee machine did not work. (Calm down, Heatherlee, you can get coffee down the road after you check out.) For a last minute decision, I didn't regret staying here. Not terrible, not wonderful. Microwave and fridge in the room. Pretty humble. WiFi was strong. Tiny pillows, but at least they don't smell weird. The front desk staff was very kind. There is no sound barrier on the first floor. Every time someone walks down the hallway during the night, it sounds like they are walking into your room. There is a brew pub two doors down! Donner Creek Brewing. Good beer, limited food (a burger, chicken sando, and a pulled pork sando, no veggie option. No chicken wings though) They close at 9pm. read more

Stayed here for a business trip with some coworkers. The place is extremely run down. TV remote didn't work, several lamps didn't work, the plumbing was questionable, shower head leaked, mold in the bathroom, dirty carpet, very uncomfortable and old mattress. All that aside - since only staying here one night, I could let all the above slide.... What I can not is that fact that the dead bolt to my room DID NOT WORK and my window had NO SCREEN and NO LOCK. I was on the bottom floor right by the parking lot entrance and felt extremely unsafe. Literally anyone could have opened my window and gotten into the room. There is no staff there overnight so any issues - tough luck. When we did speak with the woman at the front desk she was pretty rude and extremely unhelpful! Lastly... let me start by saying I am a dog lover and as a dog owner myself, I can appreciate dog friendly hotels... but the walls here are so thin, I could literally hear dogs barking and running around all night. Not to mention the 2 dogs that nearly attacked my coworker when she was just waiting outside her room for us. Definitely do not recommend. And surely not for more than $50 per night. read more

Due to truck problems we were in Truckee for 4 days as it was being repaired, and found the Inn at Truckee for an extended stay. It was clean, comfortable, and the staff were always polite and accommodating to everything we needed. They have a nice patio to sit at and look at the trees and hills, a decent selection of breakfast items, and unlimited coffee drinks. It's located on the Tahoe side of freeway 80, and is in walking distance of a drugstore, grocery store, and great pizza place. We had a very positive experience and it was more affordable then other hotels we looked up online. read more

AAA discount, efficient, and convenient! The room was warm, clean and had everything we needed: microwave, refrigerator and plenty of room. You get what you paid for. This hotel was one of the cheapest that my wife and I could find. The rooms are very small and stuffy. Most of the walls have been chipped. The showers are pretty gross. But, if you're looking for a cheap hotel, for only one night, it's doable. Plus they do give you many options for your "grab and go" breakfast. And it's not in a bad location. Again, make sure you know that you get what you paid for. What really knocked down their score for me was when my wife and I arrived, the maid was walking around with no mask on or gloves. They don't have a building with the best ventilation. As soon as we went into our room, we sanitized it ourselves and opened the windows(and left for a few hours to be cautious). If you are worried about COVID precautions, this is worrisome. Compared to the hotel we had in Tahoe, the maids always had masks on and wore gloves. This is now something to look for while trying to travel, safely, during COVID. Stay safe, be smart. read more

12/24/2021 Christmas Eve, I'm driving back to california and stucked in the snow storm thinking maybe I need to stay at truckee for a night. I've booked this hotel for 300$ a night and that is the beginning of my nightmare. When I changed my navigation, the map shows, the road to the hotel is blocked and I called the hotel try to cancel it within 5 minutes of booking it. This Hotel is saying I booked through the expedia and they cant cancel it. I called expedia and let expdia agent call the hotel. I stay on the line so I know the expedia is calling the hotel. The expedia agent was saying, it is pay at property type and hotel should cancel it. So I called the hotel again. They kick the ball back to the other and just won't cancel it. I was driving in the snowstorm, with unstable cell signals in the mountain, trying to get this resolved. But after 5 calls from the hotel and expedia they just wont cancel it. So they can charge overpriced hotel rooms during the snowstorm. Hotel charged my credit card even before I checked in. I have not received any service from the hotel but got charged? After days of calling back and forth, this is refund case still not resolved. 300 dollars paid and I have not received any services from the hotel, wasted hours calling and waiting. AVOID THIS HOTEL AND EXPEDIA at all cost!!! read more

$230 with AAA discount is an unreasonable charge for a night stay here where we may have gotten 3 hours of some sort of sleep. One third of that charge might be okay if they provide ear plugs and appropriately disclose in advance that you won't sleep much because of the noisy building equipment that cycles every 10 minutes. Our bed sheets are stained. The toilet seat is about to fall off, the windows must still be single paned, you can hear every little sound from outdoors. The person who delivered their Continental breakfast items or other employee drove up at about 6am with music blasting. Outdated bathrooms. I could add a few more but now you get a sense of the place. Intolerable is the noise! Noise clip attached, three different types of equipment noise over 3 minutes and every 10 or so minutes. Back to room with breakfast, 10 mins of news updates and the TVs signal goes down. read more

Reserved a King room ... changed to a Queen when we arrived and charged the same as a King room. NO elevators ... really?! The deodorizer used to "clean" might kill you! It was so over-powering that it made my eyes burn ... this is why the room change. It was slightly less offensive in the new room. However, if anyone has allergies, asthma, or any other respiratory issues ... DO NOT STAY HERE!!! Not to mention everything we carried into the room now smells like that deodorizer! Awesome place, hyper welcoming & truly caring Kerry/Karry, lady at the front desk, that makes you feel so happy to have chosen this place. Professional & impeccably dressed. Huge difference from the male guy in the front desk. We had an outouage during his morning shift, power got back at 9:30 am, yet he said all breakfast was over & done with. Crappy extra attitude. Wearing sandals, shorts & a hoodie, rude & moody in general, clearly doesn't like working facing customers. The 5 star rating is all about Kerry & the cleaning crew. We stayed here for the weekend while attended a wedding in the area. Overall, a decent stay for not a lot of money. This is a no frills motel just off the freeway. It is easy to get to and provides the basics of what you will need for a weekend getaway. The beds and pillows are not that comfortable but the sheets are soft. They don't have hair dryers in the rooms but they do have an iron, ironing board and ski racks. Free wifi is available in their lobby. We had dinner in downtown Truckee on Friday night since this motel is only a couple miles away. There are hotels in the downtown area but they are more expensive. We might try and find a cabin the next time we are in the area but this is a good back up place to stay. read more

They dont include the entire rate in the original price. There is construction occuring all day. The exit was blocked by an angr tile worker laying tile. They sprayed toxic chemicals in the hallway, shut off the power and water without notice. The vent is full of MOLD and the sink handle is broken and the shower only dribbles lukewarm water. This is a great basic hotel if that's all you're looking for. Be sure to check the various booking websites, cuz I got our hotel for $75 less on one than I could have gotten on a competing site. The room was clean, with a fridge and TV, and charging station next to the bed for your phone. Decor was updated recently with a bit of a more modern vibe. Pro's: This is one of the few hotels that allows pets. $25 per dog. Hot tub, and continental breakfast...with waffles and bagels, coffee and juice. Grocery store within walking distance, and a great little yogurt place. Cons: Near the freeway so you hear the noise if you aren't a good sleeper. Basic amenities like blow dryer and shampoo and lotion they don't supply. Enjoyed my stay at the hotel. Nothing negative to mention. It had the amenities I needed. Hotel staff I came in contact with were friendly and polite. Room had simple amenities, mini fridge, iron and board, luggage rest, TV, cable, wifi (ask for code), a few toiletries, towel's, A/C, and added chain lock in addition to the two door handle locks. Room 304 two double queen beds was clean and tidy. No pet smell noted. Breakfast was offered in the way of bagels, selected pastries, muffins, toast. They have a few different flavored coffees, water, punch and OJ to drink. They do have a vending machine in the lobby, through the door. Saw it but didn't use it so I don't know what it offers. This is the second time we have stayed at this in period we have found the rooms to be clean, the help to be courteous, and everything in good working order. Of course, the rooms are the inside corridors, as you would expect. In the morning, there is a nice buffet breakfast including one of those fun waffle makers! A review for the dog lover: We called the hotel asking if they had a room for 2 adults and 1 big dog for that same night (July, 2015). The answer was no. However, they put us on their wait list. Around 3:00 that day they called us and we booked the room! Not only that, we got a 10% discount for being on the wait list, which came close to making up for the $25 pet fee. Upon arrival, staff were friendly and welcoming to us and our dog. Our room was a bit run down. For example, the too short shower curtain rod was held tight to the wall using folded cardboard and the tub spigot shrieked the whole time we diverted to the shower head (after 10 minutes this was really annoying). The room had a decent clothes iron and microwave, and mini-fridge but no blow dryer. The bed was comfortable enough. There was sufficient grass for our dog to use. The room had two double beds, and was a bit on the small side, but it was fine. The hotel is close to the freeway, but the noise was minimal from our room. They offer a free continental breakfast that ends at 9:30 am The location is a long walk to Historic Downtown Truckee or one short freeway exit away in your car. Slopes that are a short drive away are: Sugarbowl (15 minutes), Northstar (15 minutes), Alpine Meadows (20 minutes). Nearby are also a grocery store and laundromat. Overall, for the price, last minute booking, availability, and dog friendliness, we were happy with our stay. read more

We were looking for a nice, basic, place to stay, and certainly found it here. Not luxurious, but staff is very nice. Continental breakfast in the lobby as well as one of those waffle maker things. The coffee dispenser definitely made better free hot chocolate than the one at Boreal Ridge made for $4 and change. The In 's right off the highway. Very close to Truckee, and Tahoe City. Grocery Store, McDonalds and a couple of restaurants a few minutes away. Our room was clean and very warm. Luxurious, no, but we weren't paying for that. We wanted basic, with proximity to Tahoe stuff, and we got it. Downside...our toilet didn't work very well. We had to flush with the wastebasket filled with water a few times because the toilet would clog easily. When it finally overflowed, I had to ask twice for someone to clean up the bathroom. I ended up doing the plunger duty myself. When you have a wife and daughter waiting to use the facilities, what was a minor issue can become truly annoying when more than one request has to be made. Once housekeeping arrived, the bathroom was cleaned in short order. Now our room smells fresh and sanitary...but if you have a larger than normal digestive tract, or have full tummies, maybe keep a plunger handy! Question: would we come here again? Sure. Not because of the plumbing, but because of the nice staff. read more

My Husband and I stayed over night to go skiing in the morning. It was a horrible experience for the price. I feel like we payed for hotel price and it was a motel. The shower was only burning hot or ice cold and I imagine the water heater wasn't working properly. The remote for the TV wasn't working well and didn't have a backing. The fire sprinklers were covered in spackle paint and I would assume that they wouldn't work. They didn't have an iron or a blow dryer in the room and they only had a small bar soap and cleanse soap. It looks like they are remodeling the rooms and they haven't finished yet. The lady at the front desk was unprofessional when we checked out. We will not be staying here again. read more

I booked a one night stay but road closures due to extreme weather conditions (snow storm) prevented me from getting to the inn. I was stopped outside of Auburn as CHP and CalTrans had shutdown all roads in and out of Truckee. I immediately called the inn to let them know my situation and that I would be unable to make it there. To my surprise I was still charged for the stay. When I called the inn a rude woman told me that I should have known about the storm and that would not refund charges. read more
