I've been seeing Deb every 3-4 weeks for about 2 years now. She is AMAZING. If you're looking for a 5-star spa experience with aromatherapy, you won't find it there, but if you're looking for actual RELIEF from impinged muscles and REAL therapeutic benefit, Deb is the creme de la creme. Now that I have found her I won't go anywhere else. I weight train 4X a week, and over our time together, Deb has corrected years of injuries, scar tissue, and impingements. She is an absolute pro, incredibly strong, and has a very detailed knowledge of anatomy and is probably the most skilled therapist I've ever worked with. Even though I'm a very strong guy, her skills still amaze me (she frequently works on athletes, including some professional ones!) I leave feeling completely "unlocked" every single time. Now, I just see her for routine "check ups" to keep things from being an issue! She is highly organized, methodical, and has a few very strict rules (FYI, being late is not tolerated). Don't waste your time elsewhere. I've seen a few other massage therapists in the area, and everyone is just a poser next to Debra. I've struggled with pain in my back and neck for years, and so far, Debra is the only one who can tame it. Debra is one of the most interesting person I've ever met (in all realms of my life) and is truly a character. I am very impressed by both her credentials (have a PhD and is working on a second one! wow!) and her techniques - it's not the immediate pleasure you get from usual massages, but it also lasts longer. She said my spinal alignment is off and a rib was in the wrong place, and when I woke up the next day I felt a lot less tenderness and tightness in my neck/shoulder area and a deep trigger point was gone. Was just lectured by the receptionist (I assume) in a very condescending tone. Very rude. I tried to schedule an appointment this morning getting out of bed at 4a after not being able to sleep. I might not have read the entire page and missed that there are no appointments before 9:30a. She could just have pointed this out and asked me if I wanted a later appointment, but she just hang up! I have seen Debra twice over the past month. I work in retail management so I work on my feet and have horrible pain in my back, shoulders and legs. The first time I saw Debra, I was in so much pain that I could hardly stand straight, let alone think straight! The pain was that bad. During my first visit, she immediately pinpointed the worst of my troubles: I had two crooked vertebrae. Debra did more than soothe my aching back and legs: she taught me proper stature and corrected my sleeping positions. She pinpointed every single deficiency I have, and this was all in the first meeting! I don't have much strength in my arms so she recommended I purchase a resistance band. After our first meeting she made sure to send me a website that has hundreds of exercises one could use with a resistance band! I can't say that I'm completely painless, but I am a work in progress, and I feel like a better "me" after each visit. She cares about my wellbeing and I am very glad that I found her. read more

Let me begin by setting the scene for my first meeting with Debra: I went to the doctor for some intense leg pain which elicited a vague diagnosis of "IT Band Syndrome" and a printout of 30 pages of exercises. No explanations, no recommendations as to which of the exercises to do- the only really helpful thing she told me was that I might also try a massage therapist. I yelped and came across Debra. When I went my first time, Debra started asking me questions, and then actually started answering mine- before I asked them. She could tell from how I was sitting which was my problem leg. She could tell that I was overusing the other leg and starting to injure it as well. She could tell how I sit in my chair at work. She could tell that I naturally point my toes and have flat feet. This is ALL before she got her hands on me! Dealing with my injury has been a long and uphill battle, but Debra has made it soooo much better. Aside from the massages, she has also given me exercises and stretches (complete with full demonstration), made me change my sleep position, and keeps me constantly in giggles. She is truly a character (which I love) but she is above all a warm human being. She gives you chocolate, she remembers things about you, she is passionate about what she does (she even called me one night to check up on me!) and above all, she knows her stuff. I would recommend her in a heartbeat, even though it will probably mean I need to start booking farther in advance! read more

I have been coming to see Deb for years! I had spent a very long time trying to find a local message therapist and am incredibly grateful to the coworker who recommended her. Prior to finding Inner Advantage, I tried four other regular message therapists. All were fine but did very little to address my underlying issues. I took five steps into the IA office and Deb had me nailed. Each and every session, I have left feeling considerably better and with good feedback and recomme,dations to prevent future issues. Deb knows her body work cold, and the service available for the price is incomprable. I would recommend that new patients take a hard look at the website - specifically the schedule and how TO schedule. I have been going to Deb since 2018. She first helped me with carpal tunnel and after struggling with pain in my forearm and wrist for months she made it completely go away. I have seen her once or twice a month since then and she has helped me through 3 pregnancies and the back pain associated with that. Deb is awesome! I came to Deb five years ago with Tendinitis pain in both of my forearms / wrists that was preventing me from sleeping at night and made my job painful. A good massage is nice. But I think what Ms. Christensen provides is so far elevated above the crowd that her treatment deserve to be categorized under a different name. I say this as someone with 7 herniated disks, joint damage to both shoulders, to my hips, to my knees ... it's what happens when someone plows into you from behind at a stoplight when you're beginning a left turn. Yes, massage, even from Debra, won't heal injuries like mine. But a beat up body like my own does give me a solid basis to judge, since I've had a lot of massage in a lot of different places including doctor-ordered from their own selected physical therapists. And Debra's takes first place. She is extremely sensitive to identifying and addressing injury. That speaks to her healing nature. More than that, she has so much technical knowledge of how the entire human body works as a system (and she never stops learning and earning new letters to put after her name - just ask her about it), that she can put her healing energy to work in the most advantageous technical way. It's so clear that she cares about her patients. I think pretty much everyone who goes to her realizes they're getting a totally different class of treatment from a highly trained and informed professional who really wants to help you heal. I've told her several times she should raise her prices by at least 50%. She's booked, so why shouldn't she get paid more since she's in delivering more and in demand? But that's a tough sell to her. If you make the time to get on her schedule, I'm confident you'll be glad you did. read more

Over many years I have tried numerous massage therapists to help me with a chronic issue which causes me a lot of pain; most never fully addressed the underlying issues. Then, about 10 years ago, my chiropractor at the time suggested that Debra might be the person to help. After my first visit with Debra I knew that I would no longer consider having anyone else work on me. At the beginning of each session she inquires what brought you in and explains what she will do in an attempt to help you. She has an incredible knowledge of the musculo-skeletal system as well as kinetics and focuses her treatments on alleviating the imbalance that is causing the pain and/or discomfort. I would say her style of massage is more therapeutic than relaxing, though she will tailor your session to your particular needs. After your session, she makes suggestions as to what you can do to maintain the structural balance she's created during your time with her. And finally, prior to your leaving, she hands you a Dove chocolate. I could not ask for more. She's the best massage "therapist" in the Evanston area. read more
