When I lived in Charlotte this was my "go to" place for crabs. I'm a Marylander so I'm pretty picky about crabs. They would even let me bring my own Old Bay seasoning for steaming. The prices can't be beat for a dozen crabs. In Maryland, a dozen live crabs for steaming costs $70 on average. When steamed, the price increases to almost $100. Can't even count how many times I enjoyed crabs while sitting on my balcony when living on Piedmont Row Drive. Miss them so much. read more

Picked up some snow crab legs after calling to ensure they were available. The market isn't in what I perceived to be a great part of town so you would want to come earlier in the day. I paid $253 for three bags of frozen crab legs. We used two bags and it fed 6 people with sides. I think this prize was a little high but the crab legs were fresh and cracked easily. Overall, very happy with the purchase but the price was a bit higher than what I normally pay. They are open during COVID19 state shut down. read more

I love this place and its workers. Today, I tasted a world-class oyster (I bought 30 of them) and a cherrystone clam (I bought a dozen). The outside of the building is not inspiring -- it was a fast food location, but the inside contains far better seafood than you will find at grocery stores. You want Blue Fish? Yes. You want live lobsters? Yes. You want squid/calamari, tubes and tentacles? Yes. This is the most comprehensive seafood market in East Charlotte. And they will cook their seafood for you or let you taste the raw pieces as I did today. Any market that allows you to taste their raw seafood and who backs it up with a full guarantee is my company. I googled places to find blue crabs in Charlotte, and this place came up. When I arrived they had a great selection of seafood. When we got the blue crabs in the bag, that's where things went wrong. They wanted nearly $30 for a dozen of very small female crabs. The crabs were so little, it looked illegal take them from the water. When I asked the cashier if we could get larger crabs he responded, "you get what you get". Needless to say, I did not purchase them. read more

I've heard of Inner Harbor for a while and after getting some thoughts from fellow Yelpers on my "Talk" post asking about seafood markets in Charlotte, gave it a go yesterday. They have a nice variety of fresh seafood on ice. Whole fish, fillets, squid, various sizes of shrimp, clams, oysters and a tank with live lobsters and dungeness crab. The prices are quite reasonable too. We went for the lobsters so we could serve some up to our neighbor's son on his 20th birthday. The smallest they had was two pounds, we scooped up three of them and headed home. Once steamed, the lobster meat was sweet and firm and just awesome. Fed me, my wife, our neighbor, her son and his girlfriend with two of these giant things and got one left in the fridge which will wind up in a lobster roll in a few more hours! I will absolutely be back to Inner Harbor. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect. Seems people either love this place or hate it. I will admit when we pulled up in the parking lot and based on the negative reviews, I was wondering if we made the right choice. It looks run down and dirty from the outside. We almost didn't go inside but since we were there, what was the worse? We could just walk out. So inside we went and I didn't have the strong rancid smell that another reviewer mentioned. You walk in and to the left is a "store" section. Limited items of Asian food, Hispanic items, and seafood seasoning. To the right, you have your seafood section. It is lined up with fish and other items. They have a row of seats that you can sit on - I guess for when it gets busy. We weren't exactly sure what the process was to order so we hung up back and watched others. They were pretty busy when we were there. So to get fish, you pick out your fish and place in a basket and then hand off to them. I actually enjoy being able to pick out my own fish, rather than pointing and letting them pick it out for you. You never really get to inspect the fish when it is done by them. I like to look it all the way over and smell it. So this was a definite plus for us. When you give them the basket of fish, you tell them how you want it clean. We went with red snapper which was $7.99lb at time of our visit. It was about $24 for two whole fish. We went with the fillet cut. They only gave us the fillets but I asked for our bones too and they had no problem giving it to us. If I am paying for the whole fish, I am going to get the whole fish. And if you are curious what I was going to do with bones and head, is make a broth. If you want crabs or mussels, then skip right down to the counter and order from there. I went with a dozen of male crabs. The sign behind the counter said the male and female crabs were the same price but he told me that was wrong. Hmmmm.... why not fix it then? It was in dry erase. Either way, I still ordered a dozen of male blue crabs. They typically do cost more, so I wasn't to bothered. We also got a pound of scallops. These ran us about $15 lb. And they were big and juicy. So we came home and cooked our seafood and I must say that they were all so fresh and delicious. The red snapper was perfect. The scallops were sweet. And the male blue crabs were the best I have had since moving to Charlotte. So outside was a bit shady, but the product we received was spot on. It was fresh and I would definitely return. I like the fact that they were super busy, guarantees the product goes in and out fast. We would definitely return. read more

Found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. Ran in around 7 pm and there were 2 other customers being helped. No "fishy" smell and it was rather clean for a seafood market. The deal is you pick your own fish and the staff prepares it for purchase. I wanted oysters and the gentleman helped me with my order. Slid down to register to pay the little lady...was in and out in no time. Oysters were great and I was satisfied. Will return for my seafood needs. read more

Very fresh seafood, love their fish. They will also fry the fish for you for an extra charge if you want. There is also other things other than seafood, if you want to stop and get a few things like an average corner market but with also asian/Hispanic food selections. I've been looking everywhere for live dungeness crabs and this place had it. I was really surprised and the variety of fish as well and there is no 'Fish' market smell when you walk in or while you're there. Inner harbor is one of those diamonds in the rough for Charlotte. Great prices, local seafood and always great customer service.

Inner harbor has a great "everyday" selection (tilapia, catfish, mullet, croaker, pompano, flounder, perch, sheepshead, shrimp, and more), plus a rotating variety of things like salmon and tuna. You can get live lobsters, crabs, tilapia, and catfish. The prices are better than even the sale price at local grocery stores, and they'll cut the whole fish however you like it. They'll even fry it up for an extra dollar per pound (great batter!). You do need to be OK with seeing the whole fish (my wife makes me go in without her, since she gets a little freaked out!), but you get to pick the fish you like best. read more

Great place to get fresh seafood. Only been once but definitely going back. The flounder and shrimp had great flavor. Good prices. Cheaper that Harris teeter. They have whole lobsters, crabs and fish or you can get them cut into fillets. It's much different than what it looks like on the outside. They also sell beer and other convenience items. read more

A great place to choose any type of seafood! They'll even gut, cut and filet any fish of your choice. Try their chipotle crabs. They'll also fry your seafood for $1 per pound. For regular fried fish. I must say this place was clean and did not have that bad smell like some stores that I have been to. This is my favorite seafood market to go to. They clean your fish free of charge or fillet. They even cook your fish for you(they charge, but worth it) and also steam your crabs and lobster etc. as well. They have a lot variety of fish and grocery. People that were there was friendly. I want to let everybody know about this business. It is really WORSE . I bought jelly candy just 1 week ago from this business . When I ate, the jelly candy had a smell like the PLASTIC. Very WORSE . The date on the products has not expired yet, but the quality of the jelly candy has had very bad. My family has the same idea after they have tried to eat.I did complaint with the owner of the shop, He said nobody complainted about the jelly I dont's understand the old guy not try to eat them and how you feel like ? , and he would not allow me to return, or change for me. He would not SOLVE my problem I just would like to let everybody know everything dried food which I did seen from this business is not good and dirty place.
