Pet-friendly - make sure your pet is on a leash at all times. My favorite part of this event is seeing all of the cute doggies. Some are dressed up in hats, sunnies, clothes some may have gotten from vendors at the event. Each month, the selection of vendors do change -- you might see the same ones always coming back while others might not return or be back other months. It's helpful if you maybe have a cart with you -- only if you're the type of person who plans to find a lot or larger items. The vendors for the most part are placed in sections based on what they're selling. There is a food court where there are food trucks and booths selling drinks and snacks. Picnic tables, live music, entertainment for kids -- outdoor games like chess, bean bag toss, connect four, jenga, legos, hula hoops, etc.

I was worried about the parking/traffic situation because the last time I went to the Alameda Antique Fair I almost lost it. Luckily, this is a well oiled machine with folks directing traffic. I arrived at 11 on a Sunday and left at 2:30. The organizers do a great job creating an event that is organized and flows. The vendors were great, tons of food trucks, interactive "survivor- inspired" games for the whole family, DJ with bubble machine, live art, a stage in the middle of the food truck area with live music, and bars and bathrooms throughout. The only complaint I have is the vendor that sells pictures with birds for "charity." First, what charity? Second, why are you out here yelling at people that are considering promoting your business? Not sure why anyone would want some weird dudes putting birds of prey on people let alone pay for it. I watched one of them have a heated exchange with a dog owner who was walking her dog past the booth. So weird. I would absolutely return to and applaud the organizers for such a well planned and executed event.

This stretch of Hayes street is where all the fancy shops are, adjacent to Patricia's Green, a lovely public space. I did my best to avoid looking at the vintage clothing, I really don't need anything, but oh the lure of finding the perfect fringed leather jacket. The layout was a bit weird, as a musician was situated all by his lonesome, with no seating, or anything else to draw a crowd. I'd move him to the Green where there's plenty of people lounging about eating sandwiches, maybe staring at their phones. Anyway, a great event for a Sunday afternoon.

I don't call that reasonably priced. I call that being ripped off, when I know that I could buy it at a nursery, walmart, target, online, or from a local plant sale much, MUCH cheaper. Not to mention simply walking on the beach to find wood. What I presume to be the owners look like they're wearing costumes. If they actually are, then that's a bit weird, but okay. If they're not, then that's even stranger. Neat little shop to look at, but as of now I won't be spending my money here because its simply not worth it. I can support local small business AND still get a good deal, just not here.

The space itself is super funky, quirky, and fun, tucked below an art gallery with artwork throughout, which gives it a really unique, creative vibe. There is a bar downstairs and they have a great selection including mocktail options It's one of those places that feels a little unexpected in the best way, and every event I've been to there has had a great energy and is intimate. The only downside is that there's just one bathroom, which can lead to really long lines and wait times during events. Otherwise, no complaints definitely a spot I'd keep coming back to.

The flea market covers about 2 sides of the park (2 city blocks) and it's a collection of random garage sales plus some crafty Etsy like people. The crafty people sold handmade soaps, perfume, jewelry, crochet dolls (cute), and screenprinted items (t-shirts, tote bags, baby onesies). I recognized one of the vendors from Renegade Craft Fair. The garage sale people had old books, tons of old clothes, dishware, quilts/blankets, paintings, tools, furniture, jewelry, comic books, vinyl records, toys, etc. I spotted a few cute old things: a plaid suitcase and old Smith Corona typewriter. I was surprised by one person selling small old photos for $10 each. The food trucks were there, four of them, with sliders, Thai food (Phat Tri), frozen custard (Lexie's) and hot wings (Cluck It Up). Free admission.

I will forever exhale charred meat smoke. My hands are chapped and frozen from getting soda. Q - Why do people ask for root beer or orange soda when we already tell them we ONLY HAVE cokedietcokespriteandwater? Do they really think we're hiding other soda flavors "in the back"? You realize this is an annual food booth, supporting a nonprofit, IN A TENT, and there is no "in the back". The best part is I got to say "Wiener me" and "Would you like your buns warmed?". Only once a year I can to say this in public repeatedly without getting dirty looks. Nothing in the world can buy that type of satisfaction. Oh and if you like mayo, I suggest bringing packets of it with you everywhere, because annual flea market food booths will NEVER have mayo. Kthxbai.
