They sent me to ArcPoint labs in a completely different part of town to get the specimen devices, which they don't carry either. Both Quick Test and Arc Point said that Ulta "does this to people." I waited on hold with Ulta Labs to get instructions on where to pick up the lab specimen cup and was told by an apathetic operator that I could drive to Scottsdale if I wanted to and get the collection device from them, or they could mail it to one of the labs. I cancelled the order and will dispute the charge ($103) if not removed swiftly. This is not healthcare. This is a careless operation that is making someone money. That's it. Don't get caught up in it.

The needle poke did not hurt much, but I had a fairly large hematoma immediately following the appointment. I still have horrible bruising five days later. I can honestly say that I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience. I only had to wait about 8 to 10 minutes, which is no big deal. They were extremely friendly when I walked in. Honestly even the other people in the waiting room were very nice to me. I told the young man that was going to do my blood draw that I sometimes have a bit of a reaction when I get my blood drawn and he was so understanding, gentle and kind. He chatted with me the entire time and made the experience so much easier. I lived in Boston for a long time and I've gotten my blood drawn at Mass General Hospital many times. I would say that LabCorp did just as good of a job as the best people that ever drew my blood at that hospital. Really excellent experience and I think they've gotten some pretty inaccurate reviews. First off, it would be nice if you could sit in the waiting room without listening to one of the front office staff bitch about her job. Second, it would also be nice if the front office actually listened to their patients. At my last visit, the wait was unusually long for this facility and I overheard this encounter. JP (Joe Patient): Hi, I'm Joe Patient. My doctor was going to fax over my order. DL (Doesn't Listen): What's your name? (JP repeats his name, DL thumbs through files) DL: I don't see anything, do you have your insurance card? JP: (confused) Yes, but what do I do about the order? DL: I have the order here. JP: (confused again). Here's my card. I was last in on 8/12. DL: Have you been in before? They also had this ridiculous policy where you had to provide a credit card for any balance after insurance, but they would only charge it a maximum of $15 and bill you for the rest. Either bill me for it all or verify my benefits ahead and collect the proper amount. Last time I was in, they didn't do this so maybe they got rid of the policy. As far as the techs, most are pretty good. Once I did get a tech that hit the vein, but the blood trickled out at a snail's pace so I'm pretty sure she didn't have the needle at the right angle or something. But overall, very competent and a much shorter wait than the nearby Sonora Quest.
